I got pulled over and was given a safety check because of a near accident I was almost in they were just checking to see if I was okay but it turned out I have a 37 year old misdemeanor warrant in Michigan so they held me until they could clear up whether they were going to extradite me. I was held for a few hours waiting for a response.Turned out that they didn't. I was cooperative, polite and nice to the cops and they were polite and nice to me back, one of the officers was kind enough to drive my car over to the police station instead of having it towed and impounded like they could have. Was treated about as good as you can be treated in this kind of a situation and it's much appreciated to be able to keep your dignity and to be treated with respect despite the possibility of arrest. High marks for all the officers that I met tonight I wish I could remember their names and give them the credit they deserve. Police are just doing their job and these guys are doing it proficiently professionally, sympathetically and without treating someone disrespectfully in any way shape or form. Many thanks and kudos! these guys are terrific I wish this was my neighborhood. It's strange to say but I'm happy this happened tonight it's kind of restored my faith in mankind.

Sadly, there's a reason they call this area the retirement District. Every time I've needed assistance and called this department, I've either gotten no response or contempt from the person that has. Once my place was broken into, and the detective that came to speak with my sobbing wife basically blamed the break-in on her. On another occasion, I had a neighbor that had previously threatened violence with me (which is why I was reluctant to personally confront them) blasting music until 4 in the morning... Unfortunately, at the time I had to get up for work around 4 a.m., and even though I called them at about 2 a.m., nobody ever showed up. If you're getting stabbed in front of the police department, maybe someone will come to help, but otherwise you're better off fending for yourself. I wish this wasn't the case, because growing up in this neighborhood I have many hard-working, respectable officers I am friends with that work in other areas of the city. Oh yeah, then there was the time I had two vertebrae broken in a hit-and-run bye a drunk driver. While the officers that responded were super, super nice, they couldn't find the guy, even though my friend did about 20 minutes later. But then they "lost" the police report before it went to court. What? Huh?

Today a black young woman tried to brake into my house I want to say big huge thank you to the 16 th districtpolice officers for 2 min respond .They got her and took her away. My baby and my nanny were saved by there fast respond. We need our gaverment to step up and make it easier for these awesome people putting there lives in danger every day so we have it ok. And press only puts up in media when they are at braking point and they react to the violence toward them. I m just sad I didn't get any off the wonderful police officers names so I could list them here .It was 5-6 cars and police was everywhere . I m so grateful . THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OFF MY HART

Our brother didn't make his weekly phone call and we got worried. We called friends and places he hung out. No one saw him. We didn't have a key and landlord was not around. After calling 911, all there was to do was wait. The officer arrived quickly. He agreed we need to get in the apartment. After receiving permission, the fire dept hook and ladder truck arrived came with sirens blaring. A side window was cracked luckily. Fire and police went in. Our brother's body was found. Everyone was very professional and concerned about us. This was the toughest day in our life and you guys maintained calmness when we couldn't. Thank you all!

Called them up to make a wellness check on my kids since my youngest was calling me crying to come home. Their father hung up their phones so I waited for almost 2 hours for a response. Finally I called to see why they didn't reach out to me they told me we knocked and nobody answered and we can't break the door down. Wow!!! Not trying to get a hold of my kids dad after they had all the numbers or anything. They basically left it at that since he has all sorts of connections with the Chicago cops. Unbelievable

Was put on hold when called with ROBBERY IN PROGRESS at 830pm on a weekday, called back because robber came back and was PUT ON HOLD AGAIN! Cops FINALLY show 15MINS later with 10 cars, really??? When I asked what to do next, will they fingerprint, etc., response "well no we don't do that", wrote report as a less serious crime-which has been fixed after I addressed the issue. Very slow response to past incidents, very sad as they were so much better a few years back--now they cannot be bothered.

Called in to make a police report when a ghetto tow truck driver attempted to hit my vehicle in a road rage. This coward had me swerve into on coming traffic almost crashed and lost my life. With all that i was still able to grab his plate and company for the lazy officer to tell me just make a bad review on him, like really? Typical Chicago, let people out here kill each other and we'll (cops) just sweep it under the rug. What do the words "protect and serve" mean to them??

Came here once to file a police report with a really nice woman who was extremely helpful. Today I came in and an unhelpful and lazy officer sitting on his fat butt would not file a report for me on someone who hit me without insurance. It's cops like this who don't actually care to help you but happily go around the city giving the most unnecessary tickets.

I was arrested on an invalid and illegal warrant from California at O'Hare coming back into the country from abroad. After I explained how I was being harassed by the police in Southern California, the officers really went out of their way to be sympathetic, professional and helpful.

I called and requested a well being check for a friend who had not responded to a number of attempts to reach her. I was worried for her safety. The police went to her home. My friend was ok. She called me after they checked on her. Thank you officers. God Bless you.
