The literal meaning of this place is “Four Palaces” with “Chow” means four in Urdu and “Mahalat” which is the plural of “Mahalel” meaning palaces. Chowmahalla palace is said to resemble Shah Palace of Tehran in Iran. The Chowmahalla Palace is consisted of two courtyards which are divided into the northern courtyard and the southern courtyard. The southern courtyard of the palace has four palaces which are namely Afzal Mahal, Tahniyat Mahal, Mahtab Mahal, and Aftab Mahal. The Aftab Mahal is a two storied building and is the biggest of all the four. The northern courtyard which has been open to public, houses Bara Imam, a long corridor with many rooms on the eastern side, which was once the administrative wing. Another captivating feature of this courtyard is the Shishe-Alat. This was used to receive guests and public figures. Chowmahalla Palace was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad until the accession into India. It is a complex of four palaces near to the Charminar. The main palace Khilwat Mubarak is the palace which holds the durbar hall made of marble and chandeliers from Europe is the main attraction. The palace is now converted into a museum which tells us about the Nizams and their grandeur. The palace also has a collection of arms and a vintage car museum. The other three palaces are not so elaborate as the first one and most of the times locked. There is a clock tower by the name Khilwat clock which is three storeyed building of Mughal architecture. The palace complex is located in very crowded areas and hence takes a tough time to reach it. You need to spend a good 2 hours to see the whole complex. Tickets for the complex cost you Rs.250 per person. The visiting time is from 10.00 am to 5.00pm.

This is the must visit when you go to Hyderabad. You can't miss this by any chance. You can cover this place with Charminar as both are just 15min walk away. It literally gave me the feeling that it was a huge palace and a different era altogether. When you enter the main gate you'd feel a bit surprised since there's wall and then immediately you'd see the entrance. You'd not expect much but that's where you'll get a pleasant surprise. The palace is not recently renovated, repairs are still ongoing at many places. However, they have maintained this place's sanctity so well that even if I shouldn't compare.. I will say Chowmahalla palace over Mysore palace any day. You'll get what I'm saying when you see pictures. Chaumahalla Palace, Hyderabad The Persian word Chahar means Four and Mahalla means Mahal, the Four Royal palaces or Chaumahalla was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad during their reign. Salabat Jung, the fourth Nizam of Hyderabad, who commissioned the construction of the Chowmahalla Palace way back in 1750. After more than 100 years, the construction was finally completed between 1857 and 1869 during the rule of Asaf jah ii, the fifth Nizam of Hyderabad. This palace became the official home of the Nizams as well as the location where they held their royal court. Festive ceremonies, royal weddings, and parties for welcoming royal guests, including Governor Generals, were also hosted here. Even the Coronation ceremonies of the Nizams were held at the Chowmahalla Palace.

Chowmahalla Palace, located in the heart of old city of Hyderabad. Spread over 45 acres of lush greenery, this grand palace showcases a captivating fusion of Mughal and European architectural styles. Unfortunately it is not very well maintained. It has nice intricate carvings, ornate arches, and gorgeous royal grandeur. The highlight of the palace is the grand Durbar Hall, a stunning chamber adorned with dazzling chandeliers, intricately patterned marble floors, and elaborately embellished walls. This hall was used for formal meetings and ceremonies by the Nizams. Also, it has nice vintage car collection of Nizam including a Rolls Royce. I wish it had a better maintenance. You can definitely visit it one time.

This historical place is now opened to Visitors with an adult ticket price of 100 rs/- You can complete the whole visit almost in 2 hours. Some of the architecture design are are inspired from Turkey. Chandeliers, Vintage Cars are good. It also displays Nizam's Crockery, Dresses, Sofa ,Chairs, Weapons used by soldiers . Few Mahals are still under restoring and hope we can see more historical things in future. I felt the maintenance could be more better. Nevertheless, the government is trying to restore few structures within the palace. Note that camera is not allowed but you can take pictures in mobile. Sad thing is most of the people are busy with taking pictures but only few are appreciating the architecture and beauty of the palace .

Beautiful historical place. So much history not only on the walls but inside the walls. The palace is huge and majestic. The exquisite entry, the walls carved with mirrors, the hanging chandeliers, the dresses worn by the Nizams, their armour, weapons, the Nizam history, stamps, coins, crockery, the pavements, gardens. Just splendid. I'd suggest you should take a tour guide to go know the Nizam history. It has a separate car section to view the ancestral car collection. Their tea place is also an eye catcher. This place closes at 5 pm. So I suggest you should hurry. In all I loved it.

Beautiful and calm palace close to hustle bustle of charminar... Its one of the must visit place in Hyderabad and it lives up to the hype.... I visited this place in the evening and it was pleasant.... Lot of ground to cover as it is museum and the palace which needs to be covered. 4 different palaces and not to be missed are the vintage cars.... If you are even carrying cameras or action cams with no intention of shooting then u have to submit ur gear to security. It's a beautiful, well maintained place. There are four places inside, hence the name. The main palace has a lot of history on display. You get to see the history of the palace, the nizams who built it, their lives in the palace, clothing of the people at the time, their warfare methods and tools and so much more. The vintage cars display is another exciting thing. At the entrance, you will find drinking water and toilets. The ticket though is a little expensive - Rs 100/adult. The palace is in the heart of the city. It's hardly 500m from the charminar.

Rich, Elegant, Detailed, Royal, Stunning. It is a great place to spend time in the city. The entry fee is Rs.100 per person, but it is worth the spend. There is a museum shop where you could buy silk clothes, books etc. You could also take Royal pictures of yourself (Costumes provided) at the palace for Rs.100. There is ample parking space, place to sit and relax. The design of the palace was so detailed and intricate. The Royal belongings were well preserved and a treat to the eyes as the observer could see the entire life and imagine it.

Must visit place when in Hyderabad. Friday it’s closed so plan accordingly. Once you visit this palace no need to visit other palace or museums in Hyderabad. Rest all are almost same with small difference. Very nicely decorated or arranged all items for display. Specially the armory. Chandlers are from Belgium and very beautiful. Vintage cars was a cherry on the cake. Major part of palace is closed for public however whatever is open to see will take 1-2 hours to see. If you go in depth of everything then 3-4 hours will be required.

The beautiful palace is located near the Charminar. The entry ticket is Rs.100 per person. The place is very neat and clean and there is no rush. You can see the whole place in about 2 hours. They also have a vintage cars collection along with motorcycles. The armory is also impressive and also has some old currency and soldier's uniform and one can get much knowledge about the history. The palace is of the royal family of Hyderabad. Very impressive paintings over there. It is worth a visit there.

This is a residence converted to Museum by the Nizams of the Hyderabad State. The place is good one time visit to see our history. The chandeliers are beauty to eyes, Back side of the palace is green and fine picnic spot. Vintage cars are the must to see. Overall good place to hang out with friends and family. For tickets: keep cash handy. Parking : we went in weekend and it was fully packed inside for parking. No parking spot outside. You might have to spend some time here to park.

The architecture of the Nizam period is best kept here in these Palaces. As the name ,there are 4 Mahals.The area is huge and totally enjoy the place you need about 1 and half to 3 hours. The Mahals are very beautiful and the things are kept very nicely. There are multiple security guards and will not have any issues. Was mesmerized to see the Nizam history and the belongings. Overally it's a nice place and you should pay a visit for sure. You'll get many beautiful frames to capture yourself. (Pro tip - Don't pay extra to click pictures just grab your tickets and go inside capture yourself and the beauty of this heritage site.)

I visited the chowmahlla palace. Mainly the Durbar Hall is fascinating and the schendeliar and throne room and other royal family details are there surrounding the Hall. These place have 4 palace but only one is for public to visit, one is in used by royal family and rest 2 palace are closed. Here the vintage car collection are there, its very rare car of the Royal family. The area is too crowded so chhose the front road of the palace.

It's a beautiful building complex with 4 courtyards surrounded by heritage palaces. It's a museum hosting some beautiful cutlery, silver work, wooden antiques, artillery, vintage cars, etc. The highlight of the place is the Darbar filled with beautiful detailing work. Entry free is Rs100 for Indians and Rs400 for Foreign Nationals. There's a small canteen where you can buy snacks, cold drinks or coffee/tea.

Palace is good. There are many buildings in the vicinity and the palace is in the centre. Apart from the many chandeliers hanging from the roof, there isn't much to talk about. One can go to the first floor climbing the wooden stairs to get another view. One thing that is noteworthy to mention about the palace is the collection of vintage cars. Those cars are well maintained and kept in a glass enclosure.

The staff from the lady handling the washroom to the security guards around, everyone is so courteous and warm. The area has lots of palaces and places to see around. If you ever visit Hyderabad, do not miss Chowmahalla Palace. Clean, calm and beautiful surroundings with gardens and beautiful blooming flowers. The throne area of the palace is very beautiful and decorated with designers Chandeliers. There are few museums of Armoury, crockery, Old attire, and history. Also there is one Museum of the Quran. Their Administrative system is really admirable.

One of the best place in Hyderabad to visit and it's pretty close to charminar. We can hang out a day there by roaming and taking beautiful pictures there. Must visit place. We can have rest rooms and snacks, water bottles and cool drinks available there. Ticket price per adult is 100 and for children it's 60. If you want to take pictures there then you have to pay extra 50 rs.

An extraordinary massive eighteenth century palace of Nizams of Hyderabad spread in 12 acres was well maintained & conserved. Large courtyards & ceremonial halls were impressive. Belgian chandeliers & beautiful marbles were amazing. We took picture in Royal dress, it was wonderful. A good collection of vintage cars was outstanding. Cleanliness of the palace was okayish

If you are planning for hyd trip, then this place is a must, inside the building there is a beautiful art of the walls, there are jhummers and type of museum, ticket price is 100 rupees and inside we have shop for snacks and drinks, also there is a photo session booth with nizam type of clothes, price is 100 rupees for one photo. Best place in Hyderabad for clicking nice pics. The whole palace looks so royal and elegant. There are many antique pieces such as royal clothing, the vehicles used at that time and many more. The entry ticket is 100rs per person which I think is worth spending. But they say that for phone photography you have to pay 50 rs which is not at all required. So don't fall for it... It is a must visit place when you are nearby charminar as it is just 10 mins walk from there.

This is situated close to Charminar, one can even walk from Charminar ~500m. It is spread in a vast area. There is water and a washroom available at the entrance. Chowmahalla Palace is near Charminar at a walkable distance less than 1km. This palace is well maintained and the information along with all crafted and items will blow one's mind. This palace's history is well documented and open for reading to visitors. All the weaponry, cutlery, interiors, documents etc are well preserved in a good condition.

Felt the entry fees are not worth paying as most of the part of the property was closed and the one which is open was felt poorly maintained. The main Mahal is the most spectacular place while the others were either closed or didn't even have adequate light within. Such magnificent properties should have been maintained properly.

Best place to visit with friends and family. Gives insight about our ancestors Nawabs and their lifestyle. We get to know about history of our Hyderabad. Ample space for parking is available. Canteen for snacks is available. Wheel chair accessibility is available but to see the palace need to climb stairs which may not be possible.

A nice archeological site to experience the culture and life of Nizam's of Hyderabad. Although the site has significant importance to the history of Hyderabad, the palace is not very well maintained. The entry fee is Rs.100/- for adults and the parking is also available. Palace is just a 5mins walk from the iconic Charminar.

It's a palace with a good collection of Chandeliers, Vintage cars, Guns, War weapons used during the Nizam's Rule. The Architecture of the palace is really praise worthy. The courtyard of the king looks really a wow. The roof architecture and window design are just more than amazing. It is close to charminar and is a must visit if you are visiting charminar

Royal palace of Hyderabad state. They do click instant photos in hyderabadi traditional dress. A vast and amazing palace featuring numerous exhibits, including a few classic cars on show. Everything is kept in excellent condition. The entire tour, taken at a leisurely pace, takes at least two hours. Additionally, there is a tiny booth where you can pay to have pictures taken and dress up in devoted attire.

The entry fee is 100 rs per person which is too high and only cash(UPI not available). The place has limited things to view and parking is also payable. The road is always rushed as it is too near the charminar. A person who loves history will love it. It is basically a museum of the ancient kings of Hyderabad.

Amazing and huge palace with lots of exhibits, even including a few vintage cars on display. Everything is maintained very well. It takes at least 1.5-2 hours to finish the entire tour at a leisurely pace. They also have a small stall where you can wear special outfits and take photos for a fee.

Extremely beautiful place to visit. Historical. Ticket prices are expensive. Beautiful place. Toilets are clean. Kids will also love it. The area is extremely congested. A bit difficult to visit with own car. A nice, clean and beautiful heritage place. Usually an hour or so will suffice to roam around.

Amazing showcase of the Nizams lifestyle and their culture. Lots of artifacts from the nizam era. The only bugbear was that they only allow mobile cameras. They can ban tripods to discourage professional modelling photography. But encourage people from getting cameras to allow for better photos.

Awesome palace, must visit place in Hyderabad, it's nizam heritage, colors are bright. Be prepared to walk, give time. Beautiful palace, with so many CHANDELIER, don't forget to see up. Vintage Cars, cutlery and weapons museums are an extra advantage. Overall a must visit this place.

This place has 4 palaces, as the name suggests. They have a collection of artefacts of the Royal family, weapons, clothing, Vintage Cars. The experience was satisfactory. It will take around 2 hours to take the whole tour. There is no access to lawns and some other parts of the property which is sad. Water is available at the entrance. Great to visit during monsoon July-sept.

The place where Nizams stayed. One of the beautiful places in the city and has many iconic views. A couple of garden and palace building. Entry fee is Rs 100 and you can view the historic weapons, vintage cars and products. The place is maintained properly.

One of the best old city attractions, with beautiful architecture and artifact. The lighting in Afzal mehel and the vintage car museum needs major improvement, and the exhibits are barely visible behind the glass. Parking can be a huge hassle on holidays.

A well maintained place with a parking lot. This place is peaceful and you can sit on the stairs for a while to experience solitude. ✨ You can roam around the place and enjoy every bit of it. They also have a vintage car exhibition part ️ People might mislead you saying that the place is closed for the tourists, but it is not. Visit the place and have fun ✨

Beautiful palace built by nizams, very photogenic. Entry ticket is 100 for Indians. If you're visiting Charminar, this is just 500m from there. Visit by at least 4PM as they close sharply by 5PM. Great place to explore the heritage of Nizams.

A picture-perfect location. I really liked the place. The best part is you can take lovely pictures from every corner. We also dressed up like nizam and begum for taking pictures. They provide the costumes and charge 100 rs per photograph.

This is Nizam's Residence. A place with multiple large buildings having exquisite architecture and decor. The centre-piece is a large Durbar Hall. It has a large collection of paintings, display of armoury/weapons and fine crockery.

This one's a must visit for History enthusiasts. The museum is entirely well marked with information and display. It would easily take 3-4 hours for someone to go through it all in detail. Well maintained palace, pathways. Clean and functioning toilets from the look of it. A canteen with snacks and beverages. Enough parking inside the compound.

Not well maintained. Area is vast. Old properties are just fading in obivilian due to poor upkeep. The owners are just milking money by putting a steep ticket of 100/- per head. In lieu of this, they do not provide good facilities like Salar Jung Museum, which is well maintained, spick & clean with water, rest rooms, toilets and food kiosks.

It is one of the most beautiful palaces i have visited... The place is very interesting.. It is vast and big.. One needs about two to three hours to see the whole palace.. It is lovely and worth a visit in Hyderabad..

Chowmahalla Palace is one of the few heritage spots in Hyderabad that’s so well maintained and has history recorded in the form of exhibits and galleries. I would recommend this place if you’re touring.

Beautiful Moghal Era architecture. Decently maintained but can be improved . Ticket is ₹100 for Indian and ₹500 for foreigners. Worth visiting. Nizam was living here post independence. It's a good palace to visit but it's under renovation for most of the part. Only main palace is worth a visit and other sections you can skip, it will save a lot of time and energy.

Residence of erstwhile Nizam, located in old part of City.Private museum, well maintained. Limited items on display. Have to walk a bit to completely explore the palace. Good place for taking pictures. Have decent parking space though not very crowded even on weekends.

Wonderful place to visit , if you are a history lover. Such a nice place to walk in a peaceful way. But the palace maintenance needs to be improved.
