It's amazing how the threat of a new Aldi makes one of the worst Coles in Sydney upgrade in preparation for its arrival. While the Aldi may be a way off yet, it's still a very welcome update. It's not perfect by any stretch, as evidenced by the many comments on social media, but definitely a huge improvement to what was there. Whether the orange juice or the bread slicing machines are necessary additions are debatable especually given the demographic. At least they're an interesting addition. How long they'll last is anyone's guess. Though the biggest issue with the upgrade is not what they've added but what they've removed. No more deli and no more bakery. Everything is pre-packaged or brought in. Luckily we have Earlwood Grocer's across the road which easily meets out deli needs. Perhaps that's why they've removed it here. Personally I like the changes and all thr new offerings. It's not everyone's cup of coffee but at least now you can have one while you're shopping. It also seems like they've reduced the staff numbers and installed more self checkouts, which again will erk some people. There's only one or two checkouts with checkout operators to cater to 'the older generation' or those that prefer human contact. One welcome improvement is the massive U-shaped refrigerated section enclosing everything cold behind clearly visible glass doors instead of open shelves. They've managed to make the store look way bigger than it was and increased most of the ceiling height as well. The changes have definitely brought Earlwood Coles into the 21 century.

Great since they completed renovations good variety of gourmet items and fresh fruit and vegetables, pity that it is so difficult to secure a parking spot with so few shoppers in store all the spaces are filled and only cater for 2 handicap parking spaces.also on number of visits only 1 cashier for customers with 12 or more items which is very frustrating when you just need to pay and get going Once again extremely annoyed with the parking, went to do my weekly shopping and although there should be adequate parking for customers the car park was full and guess what only about 20 customers in the store the rest were taken up by people doing their shopping and drinking coffee across the road, I went elsewhere to hard to do my shopping there pity I noticed Woolworths at Wolli Creek has installed boom gates as well as Aldi, they have my business now.

Poor experience at the billing counter. They were not ready to check the product price after finding their incorrect prices shown while billing. The guy said I am the one here and can't move and when he called someone to check the price coles people where staring and walking away and didn't come to his call. Before that all the boxes were broken I chose cub wmbaby wipes 480 for $10 but it was all scattered so I asked a near by staff he replied this all we have and walked away. Poor. This is similar to experience voiced out by my friend about coles staff and I have xperienced it now. Worst people and poor company that doesn't care for customers even while customers are clean and wait for assistance with no avail.

Well basically finished the renovations and it looks fantastic and there’s not more staff on the floor but I will not going back to Coles any more and there are a lot of people who are going to boycott codes for the simple reason that there is only one check out that is manned by a person the rest is automated self checkout. She’s totally ridiculous and unacceptable. I don’t want to check my own stuff out if I do I expect a 20% discount but I want interaction with the staff.. So that means that a minimum of five young people have lost their jobs well done Coles I’m not the only one who feels this way did you get on the Earlwood Facebook pages you’ll see many people are upset by it

Too many minuses for this Coles store. First and foremost the charity collectors constantly out the front are annoying when all you want to do is rush in and out. Many of us already give to charity without having Coles hassling us like this. If I see them out the front, I refuse to swing into the carpark and will go elsewhere. The deli staff are rude and miserable and have no customer service skills. If you hate your job-leave. The stock is limited with way too many Coles brands being forced on us. The milk fridge is always missing items or they are very short dated. Good luck finding Zymil 2 litre milk when you need it. I give up on this Coles and going elsewhere.

Friendly, efficent staff, good sized shop with good selection of products. The store has recently gone over a makeover , etc al Garden / Farmers market style layout + glass eco-friendly fridges in cold section to help reduce emissions + phasing out plastic bags (bring yours or buy reusable/use boxes etc al ALDI in-store) and refer to Shopping Index at end of isles for product locations, as some have moved during the redesign. Conveniently located across from a growers market and next door to a Liquor Land and nearby shops / eateries, bus stop and nearby train station (Beverly Hills - inner eastern/airport line). Recommend

This was my local Coles since the last 5 years. I am 7 months pregnant and I was almost finished my shopping. I've asked to Megan ( duties manager) if I could use the toilet as I couldn't wait too long but she told me that due to policy restrictions, she couldn't let me use it. I explained to her the situation and she told me to go in a shopping centre located 2 roads after the Coles. As I cannot walk properly, I gave it up and I drove back home by leaving all my shopping at coles. Not good at all! I understand the policy but I am a loyal customer and pregnant too, I think she could manage it by different way.

  • Kate Harding

Night staff rude and unhelpful. Enquired about an item - the man just shrugged and said 'dunno' then continued what he was doing. I then went and enquired again at the front cigarette counter - was ignored for a while then was told 'I don't know If we have that product you'll have to ask someone else in the store" then she went back to filling the cigarettes. I then mildly exploded at the lady for her attitude and lack of help informing her I'd be making a formal complaint and she just mumbled "whatever, ok" then turned and continued ignoring me!!!!

  • Skater Brodude

So much better than Woolworths. Both the 412 (Campsie - Dulwich Hill via Wardell Rd - RPA Camperdown) and 423 (Kingsgrove - Marrickville via Illawarra Rd - King St & Broadway) buses stop within 100m of the store with a flat walk to the entrance, likely making this store the most accessible in the district for those physically challenged and whom rely on public transport for mobility. The store is spacious and well arranged and the staff are helpful and friendly. It is open until midnight on Saturday, when most of the competition shut by 10 p.m.

  • Phillip Fry

Duty manager Mareen tonight is horrible with customer service. I bought nappies from coles online, and it arrived on a rainy day and the nappies were wet. I went instore to exchange it for a new one, and he said I couldnt return them, and that I needed to call customer care and report it as damaged. I already contact coles, when the delivery was wet/damaged and i was told to bring it instore. Eventially Kerrie helped me with the exchange. Thanks Kerrie. Mareen, you should learn from Kerrie how to treat customers.

  • Peter Maghazey

The dirtiest, worst laid out Coles in the country. Fresh food is of bad quality and prices higher than most coles stores. I hardly ever buy anything here the only thing is convenience living across the road but have to put up with never being able to find a car park due to terrible and inadequate parking. How the hell did this store get approval to operate considering lack of facility? Can’t wait for the store to close in a couple of years which is why they are not spending money fixing the rathole.

  • susan elcho

Coles Earlwood is find but sometimes I can't find everything. I understand it's a smaller than other Coles and that's depend on the comunity but Earlwood population is increasing and they didn't grow with their area. Also the same thing with the car park. Yes there is another car park at the back but when people wants to visit only Coles they want to park at Coles not the back parking, not when they have a big troley to push through the small crowded foot path. It's not safe for the elderly people.

  • Michael Cook

This place was, as usual... busy on a Sunday morning .. cause i am there every week and it's pretty much the same story, having said that, i never usually have any problems getting in and out. From what i can i see it's a pretty popular store on a Sunday and at least at the time i go, not overly crowded... but i am sure it'll get busy later on... so if u do go... go early i think would be the best bet. Otherwise it's a good store well served by the bus stop to and from the city etc....

  • Anthony Spencer

Nothing much to smile about. I was waiting at the service desk for cigarettes when the lady ahead of me wanted a refund. It took two staff including The Duty Manager 12 minutes to resolve the matter. When it was done the two staff walked away from the desk and left another staff member to do the refund and then serve the line of customers waiting for cigarettes. Unacceptable, but you get used to waiting at Earlwood Coles. The CCTV footage would back this up. Do better than this.

  • Di Drew

These guys are exceptionally busy. They need a few more staff. Great selection of import food and nice deli staff. Has a neighbourhood feel which is refreshing for a major chain. If you like Uludag Gazoz, it's in 2L bottles here. My friend uses a wheelchair and the staff repeatedly aren't able to find the sine wheelchair-compatible trolley they have. It's pretty poor form to me. There is always a parking issue underneath the building. Otherwise it's just like any other Coles!

  • K C

Need more people at cashiers rather than stacking shelves during busy time as others have said. Agree with comments, the cashiers hand out plastic bags like no tomorrow. Bought newspaper and young girl asked me if I wanted bag for it! In meantime please empty plastic bag recycle bin which is always full to the max and stop people pushing your trolleys everywhere around the suburb. They are littering the streets and I’ve always had to log them to get them picked up.

  • Elise Martinson

A decent Coles for grabbing a few things but it's quite small (especially when they are filling the shelves during the day), parking can be a challenge and there is nearly always a charity or two trying to engage you as you go in or out of the only entrance. I live in the area but would much rather drive to the Clemton Park Coles as there's much more parking and space inside the store itself and no-one one trying to collect money at the entrance or exit.

  • Christian Bagot

I just went shopping yesterday and to my great dispointment the Deli counter is now closed and was told it won t reopened as everything will be replaced by pre-packaged items on shelves , that is an absolute disgrace. I did switch from Woolworth to Coles 2 years ago as it was closer and it was good. I know now it will be one of my last visit to Coles Earlwood. Welcome back Woolworth on Illawarra Rd! They have a Deli counter there. Sorry!

  • Chris v (Dark Horse)

Was accused of stealing (I didn't). Self checkout couldn't print receipt. Had to wait 20 minutes while the CCTV was reviewed. No apology. Produce is average. Some staff are lovely but they're the exception to the mean. Parking is horrible. Layout a little illogical. Self checkouts are tempremental Aisles are often clogged with shelf stackers and you'll need to run the gantlet of chuggers at the door.

  • Denise (Dee)

Most Shocking click and collect and collect service I've encountered. The bays have all been parked in (by non click and collect customers) the mobile number supplied to call on arrival doesn't ring. Just rings into a full message box. So had to queue inside to get someone. Waited ages as they were super busy. The staff were good. They just need more staff and better equipped click service.

  • Ashleigh Wilson

Every time I go to Coles Earlwood I get a sense of chaos as soon as I walk in. It's messy, shelves contain products that aren't nicely displayed but strewn all over the place, there are ALWAYS pallets of undisplayed stock blocking aisles , it's just a madhouse. Having said this, the staff are always so pleasant that I will keep visiting Coles Earlwood for the cheerful staff alone.

  • Maria Kando

Normally shop here and find the staff really friendly, shelves not always stocked well but staff help out...stunned yesterday to hear a staff member make racial slurs and jokes about muslim customers, Im Greek so didn't affect me but a lady behind me was upset by the loud staff member with what seems like an american accent...bad form Coles. Will avoid that staff member in future

  • Tim Y

At first I thought that renovation was good and it is from an visual aspect but so many products are missing. Can you please bring back the frozen Coles branded croissants! Also the long life milk ranges is practically halved and all the "Coles local" products are too expensive.. doesn't feel local at all . For now going to go to another Coles or woolies which ever is closer

  • Harry

Disgusting Customer Service. My poor 91 yr old mother in law was sent to a que and left waiting for 10min while the check out girl went to serve other much younger customers . Shame on you Grace. You should prioritize to serve the elderly and not have them standing there for 10mins. Maybe you should learn some customer service and also not give rude back answering as well.

  • Steve P

If I'm going to pay a premium for groceries I will at least expect some level of customer service. The customer service here is the WORST I've ever seen. The staff nonchalantly dismiss any enquiries or requests for service, the only effort they make it's to avoid helping customers. Do your self a favour and get rid of all the managers as they're the biggest culprits here.

  • Kat Gives Reviews

Skim milk is never available! The bread shelves regularly empty (gave up getting decent gluten free bread ages ago from there), the eggs now are empty with only the most expensive ones available....their cigarettes are in complete disarray and staff can never find my common brand....I even had one staff member tell me I should quit....quite ridiculously inconsiderate!

  • Einar Johansen

Not enjoying the new layout at all. Lots of pinch points, and the fruit and vegetable section isn't fun at all. The aisles were already too narrow, and now you might as well give up if someone's coming from the other direction. They seem to be stocking fewer items, too, and lots of imported stuff, rather than Australian made. A really unpleasant shop.

  • Ron “SuperDooperMan” T

Great reno done to Coles. It looks more upmarket now. They have a great selection of breads. I find it easy to find things in there, if you know what you're looking for. Parking can be a problem though as they get a lot of traffic (and foot traffic) coming through. A high poportion of customers are elderly, so be kind. It's good they open till 11pm.

  • Patricia Tomalaris

A new modern store which stocks everything you could think of and more. It certainly showcases products other Coles don't. If you're a bread lover, look no further. The bread you can find is varied and they also have a bread slicing machine you can use. Give it a try if you're in the area it's definitely better than a lot of the other Coles stores.

  • Samantha Tonna (SammyCircle)

Very unclean. Lack of stock available. All the staff act as if the last place they want to be is in this Coles. I don't get offended by their rudeness, or dirty looks, because I understand. And I feel their pain. This Coles sucks so much ass, and honestly, most of the customers that regularly visit, make it worse. Worst Coles I've ever been in...

  • STEVEN ALEXANDER

When feeling down just pop into this vibrant store, it's bright and inviting, with lots of great specials, including freshly squeezed orange juice you make yourself, hot pastries, crispy loaves of bread you can place in a slicer, hot roasted chicken, fresh flower bouquets, and you can make your own cappuccino too, all in a modern Grecian feel.

  • William Cattanach

I bought some earphones here, they didn't fit in my ears and when I tried to returned them they gave me a hard time and said they don't do refunds for change of mind. It's not a change of mind if they don't actually fit, it's a genuine issue. And considering they are making huge profits due to cost of living crisis it's pretty disappointing

  • Shavir Harrysunker

Wish they didn't discontinue their Romano sauce, it goes off! I'm a fan of their Mars, Cheery Ripe and M&M cookies found in the bakery section. Their Cookies 'n Cream ice cream is also great but the minimum capacity they're available in is 1 litre, would be alot more conventional for customers if a 500ml variant was to be introduced.

  • Hendy Ongkodjojo

Offers most products and brands and open until late. The varieties are not as expansive as bigger Coles but it'll still be sufficient for weekly groceries shopping. Worthwhile to also compare some fresh fruit and veg prices with Earlwood Growers Market across the road as some items are either cheaper at Coles or the Growers Market.

  • Antonio Paino

Found a box of pull apart garlic and cheese bread covered in mould. Looked for a staff member on the floor t9 alert them and could not find one anywhere. Asked to speak to manager to tell them of my disappointment. Took him over 10 minutes to come out and talk to me and had to be called twice. Not shopping there again.

  • Wu Orson

The shop manager seems not familiar with the special price code of practice. One time, the scanned price is higher than the shelf price. I got the item for free, the second time. I waited for 30 minutes and the store manager told me I can get the item for shelf price but not free. It was just a tube of toothpaste....

  • Joe Colubriale

Not very happy about the changes, only 2 serviced counters, less stock of lines like only space for 8 corn flakes packets, which of course immediately ran out. Generally improvements to a shop are aimed to please the customer, here it feels like we are being driven to Coles Clemton Park or Woolworths Marrickville.

  • Kathryn Albany

Parking is a bit of a nightmare at this store. The range is OK but keep in mind it's a reasonably small store. This is our closest supermarket but I wouldn't shop here unless we urgently needed something, not least because Coles really lost me with the plastic bag debacle followed up by the plastic mini toys.

  • johnnyboy1233211111

Staff need to be friendlier, and a smile..... Senior staff are snobby, they don't care about customer's enquiries, must be the worse store in NSW......the new look is terrible, items all over different ailes, need strong pair of legs to find goods.....I might be changing to Woolworths now......

  • Nicole Harris

As annoying as having the self service make you get someone over every second item Lo you scan, they now keep all the bags with the attendant. So if he is busy you have to wait for a bag. Taking the loss prevention thing a bit far Coles. $0.15 bags really hurting the overall profits?

  • paula tugaga

This store is terrible now we spend around 400-500 every time we go there and last week we wanted someone to check us out and be served and everything told us you need to checkout yourself. So we said we’re leaving the trolly here and some nice guy came and said he will check us out

  • Shan McVee

This Coles is tiny, not well stocked and very rude staff. There was one very nice dude in the meat area but that was the best thing about the store. Car park is tiny and generally poorly planned. If you have better options just go elsewhere... If you don't, then it will do …

  • Christopher NFP

The lines for checkout had 6 or 7 people in and delay of 10 minutes. Open more checkouts and make it more efficient for busy families. If I have to wait 15 minutes to get served I might as well drive 5 minutes to Woolworths at Kingsgrove where I dont have to wait.

  • Daniela Paulmann

Fancy looking since its renovation mid 2022. Prices are not the cheapest, but might be the general uplift in grocery pricing tbh. Helpful staff, fresh produce. Missing the deli counter since the renovation. I would prefer the counter over the packed deli goods.

  • Rania Estephan

Since renovating this branch and changed closing hours, my family, friends and myself stopped shopping there. No more delicatessen, the shelves are so tightly pushed together, feels chrostophobic. So difficult to find what we need. Totally ruined it for us.

  • Jeff

Deli not open after 9 pm why would your store be open if you dontbwant to sell products. Trolleys disgustingly dirty store dirty. Cleanliness not cared about even though coles advertises being clean trolley black instead of silver metal colour that dirty.

  • Lisa Rayson

Very nice service, but really you guys at Coles should try a little harder to minimise plastic bag consumption. A lot of unnecessary plastic is handed out every day. We can't keep doing this to the environment. How many thousands are given out daily?

  • Glendon Gardner

Coles has gone out of their way to create a chaotic shopping experience. Unreliable stock and random disorganised shelving makes it hard to find what you need. No parking spaces on weekends. Worth driving 10 minutes to go to Woolies on Illawarra Rd.

  • Marcus Phillips

What ever happened to that young lebanese boy james, he was always a pleasure to see at coles, was very good at multi tasking and very fast and polite everytime i was served by him, i feel like some of the staff are very rude and slow nowadwys

  • Sydboy

Smaller supermarket compared to other larger ones that service bigger communities. Range and layout quite constrict and not a pleasant experienced. Ok to pop in for basic essentials if urgent but parking a nightmare, best for late night runs

  • Patrick El

Big parking lots with plenty of spaces. Grocery on par with the average large sized Coles. Rarely over crowded with people and an enjoyable shopping experience. Lack of trolly bays increase risk of trolly to car collision incidents however.

  • Jazmin Doyle

My favourite place to shop. Stocks very good quality products and I go there regularly. The prices are very competitive and it’s a store that’s very convenient to the area. It’s close to home which is also a bonus …

  • David Harradine

Went to shop at quieter time to be COVID safe. Find they have AGAIN cut hours to 10-5. Great way to put MORE people in the store over a lesser period. All on top of one another! Here comes another COVID event in your store.

  • Kourosh Keshavarz

This store was small and as a result nightmarish. I am used to the larger stores where everything is in the same place. I really struggled to make my way around the store. The good thing though there was ample parking.

  • Mark Focas

Like the other dominant supermarket they ensure no mobile reception in store so you cannot compare prices, post negative reviews or use amazing apps like choices ARCluck to confirm if their free range eggs truly are.

  • Rebecca Koussa

The revamp is amazing, food is now fresh and abundant, though croissants always sold out, staff are much nicer, I miss the nice young guy from the deli but I don't miss the deli, it's a much nicer place to shop now.

  • Therese Breen

Coles "Early" is a great store... Fantastic staff. Bit of a bird seed issue at present though. Coles Clemton Park is nearby, just off William Street, and down Alfred, if they don't have what you want

  • Deidre Azzopardi

The staff are great, selection of fresh seafood, meat and dairy is poor and use by dates are right on the verge. Does the store only get this type of stock and why? No respect for the shopper and no competition.

  • mary ackerman

This Coles at Earlwood, because there is no competition, does not stock a great variety of foods. Only one brand of Kombucha, there is no deli and, of course, the packaged small good meats are premium priced.

  • Bernard H

Rude staff especially behind the deli counter. Couldn't be bothered to help out and when finally assisted, the rude staff was giving me the looks! Very unpleasant. Dirty store overall. Long waits to pay.

  • Daniel Ede (Edey Boy)

They've got all this fridge space now and absolutely no variety to speak of in them. If I want something specific I have to inconvenience myself to get it when this shop is right here. Very annoying!!

  • Sophia Aharonovich

Quite a big store in the centre of Earlwood. Great variety of products. Good fresh meat and fish selection. Not that many daily specials... Underground parking available. Voffee shops and BWS near by.

  • Shilpi Gupta

This is one of those stores full of self serve options. You can pick your own loaf and let a machine cut it for you. Have a barista style coffee, refill your shampoo, etc. etc. Absolutely love it

  • Joyce Fraser

I eventually found what I was looking for but I was not familiar with the shop. The staff were fairly helpful. The check out lady was so fast and she was also serving people cigarettes as well.

  • Tania Talarico

Great few blocked isles from stocking up but friendly and helpful staff always more than make up for that. A pleasure shopping there even if I have 2 of there competitors much closer to me.

  • Lewis Williams

Handy little place to stop and pick up a few things on way through. Parking usually impossible best stay on street. The way roads merge to get out of there is not for the meek or hesitant.

  • Quang Nguyen

avoid click and collect especially Samantha. very pushy and rude on the phone, almost like a debt collector when it comes to missed collection. ill stick to woolies, theyre more flexible.

  • Julian E. Micallef

I love how late this store is open till, it's saved me a bunch of times. But the catch occurs in the form of their lack of items. It's quite limited, granted the store is rather small.

  • fadia s

Nice shop slightly different to suit Earlwood-i think-but I did not buy anything. Prices are crazy no matter what the media has reported yesterday about the discount. God help us!

  • Lazarus L.

A bit hectic, people NOT abiding by social distancing rules no one's wearing masks including staff. People are too close. Together St self. Check out. And. Customer service desk.

  • Jarrod Haynes

It’s a medium-sized Coles stocking a vast majority of the things that I buy. The food is always fresh and there is always a (relatively) large range of vegetarian/vegan options.

  • Doo belaki

Smaller Coles but easy to park and has all of the essentials and some decend ranges. The isles are narrow, making it difficult if busy or staff are restocking the shelves.

  • Daniel

Store is excellent since the update, for a local shop. Wish they had trolley collection or had just put in trolley with locks sadly they are dumped all over the suburb.

  • Luca Marin

Good staff, however the amount of staff trolleys everywhere for restocking is nuts. Despite that, in many places there is no stock? (I'm looking at you confectionary.

  • amanda dass

Always the best prices and freshest produce...great variety of speciality items and featured specials are always available...staff is very helpful and cheerful

  • Michelle

Airy, not rushed, ample parking, clean & well organised by its young Greek Manager. Prefer the village atmosphere to that of a large mall when just daily needs

  • Simon Green

If you're a local, it'll be fine. If not, it can be kinda hard to get a park, and you'll pull less hair shopping elsewhere. Store itself is okay, albeit small.

  • Ka Z

The roasted chicken...Not tastes good ... No salt enough, it's really poor chicken flavours Another than that very good for shopping.....

  • Helen Varnava

I believe bbq chicken’s should be reduced after 4hrs after being cooked Earlwood coles have no signs WHEN they were cooked and when they are REDUCED

  • Peter Smith

Decent selection but has a slightly run down feel to some of the aisles, the lighting is dim and the floor is patchy. Otherwise good experience.

  • Y L

Went on 7 Dec early morning, the two Caucasian ladies were very friendly and helpful. Should have noted their names and send them a compliment

  • Kyle Bruce

Always liked to shop here given they close at midnight, but like it even more now with the renovations. Coffee and OJ bar a great addition.

  • Anastasia Tsoupis

Doesn't look like that externally anymore google (street view). Needs updating. Great Coles since reno was done!! Great products as well.

  • Zac Downes

Great if you only want half of your shopping list and to then have to visit somewhere else. Highly recommend if your a fan of stress

  • graeme matthews

Parking is hard.. not much room.. supermarket isn't big.. narrow isles...but does have items that other coles do not

  • Esther Goh

Great supermarket with gourmet groceries. A little bit pricier than other grocery stores but the quality is there.

  • G con

Every Coles has a different layout and the self service area is a pain. Not enough humans serving humans.

  • Mr Jordan

Good that it's open late...very practical...nice new refurbish, still finding my way around …

  • Jessica Kennedy

A little hard to navigate the store, but great variety, plenty of parking and staff are amazing.

  • David Matthews

Coles local concept but at least good parking with open 2 hour free car park behind the store.

  • Adam Chapman

Can be very busy, and is fairly small so doesn't have everything... But fine for the basics

  • Ella Van

Damaged products again! Need more training with packing goods. Never again.

  • P C

Once the sun goes down there is never any staff to man the check out.

  • Joe Moda

Great service! The customer service is through the roof!

  • 7s29

Easy parking, nicely spaced store, helpful staff.

  • Julie Schofield

Easy parking great new layout helpful staff

  • Bianca de Reus

It is much improved after the renovations
