I needed to buy two products which amongst others were on sale last night (TUESDAY, 4TH JUNE, 2019 @11pm). It was late, I went there at 11pm. First of all, they never re-stock items which are on sale and I always have to ask the staff for more items which may be on the packaging room. None of this mattered until last night when I asked one of the COLES staff for help. This long black-haired young asian female staff who was fixing stuffs on end of aisle 1 opposite to the cold juice section, who downright was rude and didn't bother to help me at all. I asked her whether she could help me find the items which were not on the shelves and find if there were any stock left. She goes like "whatever we have is on the shelves, if it's not there, then we don't have any stocks left". OKAY, I understand you may run out of stock but there's a thing called "CUSTOMER SERVICE" which compels the staff to be helpful. I asked whether she could help me in getting a rain-check and she kept on saying "it's not on the catalog, so you can't get one". I replied "it still says it's on sale so, it should be in the catalog". She wasn't helpful at all. At this stage I said "Forget it, I"ll just ask someone else to help me". Like COLES, if you're not willing to provide services to people then why BOTHER OPENING UNTIL 12 MIDNIGHT? If YOU'RE OPEN then the customers expect friggin' service! I'd rather go to Woolies Westfield, Hurstville since they too open until 12 midnight, at least I'd get better customer service than at Coles, Hurstville station. And I have been going to this Coles for about five years now and this is what I get. I had to ask two more staff until I finally was helped by this other male staff who helped me write a rain check since there were no more of the items I required in the store. Whilst he was writing the rain check, that same female staff came over to the counter and started saying "it's not even on the catalog". I ignored her as I had a long day and didn't wanted to create a scene. I was really disappointed with how COLES employee treat customers, I WAS REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH the service I got from that particular female staff. Very disappointed.

Such a poor management. I had a bad experience in this store. It happened yesterday around 6.10pm - 6.30pm. I came to buy my grocery and pay at register near smokeshop register. The lady help me with grocery and once i have done my payment, i was asking her for rain check. She told me, she has to put the wet sign for the spills first and came back. I understand she needs to the put wet sign first to prevent the others customers slip over. But she should has come back to me and there was another customer was waiting for her in the cigarette register. Instead, she was helping her colleagues counting money. And there was two others staffs in that counter, keep serving next customers and ignoring us in the smoke register. I had to experience the anger from the other customer because she was getting angry and impatient waiting for the staffs to serve her cigarette. She pour out her anger on me and my daughter, none of the staffs said anything but they just watched the racism that happened in the store. I am sure one complaint won't hurt the company especially Coles Supermarkets and Coles might not taking it seriously. But i do wish and hope they can fix this issue and hoping no one else has to experience what i had experienced.

i had an extremely horrible experience at coles on boxing day. i would never expect to see such discrimination in almost 2023. The person serving me her name was Nargi & she was a muslim nationality & because i was wearing a crop top and a pair of skating shorts she decided not to serve me & proceeded to serve 5 men that caked after me because i was discriminated against. I’ve tried to speak to the store manager but the security at hand said he wasn’t available today. Then when i proceeded to call with my personal attorney on the line they wouldn’t answer my call.

Appalling customer service from one of the managers. And this is not the only time, sadly I have had to deal with this guy before and the first time I let it go but not now, his arrogant and rude manner need to be pointed out. It is such a pity that this person is managing what seems to be a good team of people. When approached for genuine inquiry, not only did he not listen to us he dismissed us and turned his back on us before we had finished talking. I am referring to the person in charge on Sunday 31/03/2019 at 4:15 pm - His name on the name tag said Hassan

Fell over in this store this morning due to a bucket overflowing of water, the floor all around this bucket was soaked. I was shopping so I was looking up at the shelf and did not see their bucket. I slid in the water all over the floor and bashed my elbow on a shelf and my knee on the floor. The staff member walked over and adjusted the sign and at NO time NOT once asked if I was ok!! I went to see a manger who also did not know how to ask if I was ok? What is this no care at all? This place is a joke I WILL not give Coles one more cent of my money EVER!

  • Mere Rasoga

Pathetic pathetic customer service.Had only one front end staff member serving from one register to around 8 people during the peak hour in the morning and all self checkout counters still closed.Another staff on the phone making a call .When asked she responded saying she needs to make a call. They prioritise calls before customers who are eagerly waiting in a line to buy something before boarding the train. Her response was in a harsh tone with an angry face. Coles need a refresher course for all staff members on the basics of customer service.

Good supermarket with loads of stock and varieties. Good for quick shopping as its next to hurstville station. The only problem is trolley which locks when its taken out of the center. My idea is to either have trolley without locks or no trolly at all as it creates a scene if you incase happen to buy loads of stuff which can't be carried with your hands. And the other major thing during evening busy hours the self checkout tills always seems to be slow, may be upgrading or updating software might help..

  • John M

The self checkout area is too small and it can take time to exit in peak times. They don't seem to restock sale items during a sale. Generally understaffed. Fruit quality is generally medium to low. Checkout staff are great. You can generally get what you need and the extended hours are good. The Coles in Westfield has a significantly greater range of products. This store's main asset is it's convenience, being right at Hurstville station. Best to avoid in peak times. Could be much better.

  • Robert G

For reducing the opening hours you got 1 star. And now there are paper bags. What happens when it rains? What about the reduced bag size that doesn't even fit in a bunch of celery? What about the reduced mass carrying capability? What about the increased price of paper over plastic. It might be more economic for you but not for me. What about when I go to reuse it as a trash bag and if I have wet trash- it will make a hole. You People!

  • Manuel MA

Poor customer service. 1. Staff at welcome desk knows nothing about greeting customer, you just can't even expect a smile. The management should have known their reception staff is representing coles' image. 2. Rude staff in aisle. I saw this scene of drama: A helpless lady asked a staff she met in the aisle to help locate some items she needed, the staff didn't even look the lady answered "I am busy" and walked away. I was shocked...

  • Tousifa Alam

It’s very disappointing from a store like coles, where customer like me try to save paper by not taking the paper receipt while pay by card. And don’t get to do the exchange or refund without paper receipt. I mean u can track the transection with barcode on the product and card number! How hard is that? I had to literally explain the same to the store supervisor and get the exchange while she said she needs the receipt next time!!!

  • Nikolas Ngarso

Very convenient to shop because it is in front of Hurstville station, however lots of missing items not being replaced and the staffs are rude. Today I asked a middle aged staff a particular item while she was doing day fill duty slowly . With the angry face she slowly turned around and with an unfriendly voice she answered "I don't know". I think the Coles management should do something with the recruitment process.

  • "Diksha" "DARLAMI"

Cool supermarket is doing fine but the way their staffs specially front staffs (staffs at counter) have very rude behaviour towards customers. Not only me my other mates as well felt the same situation while encountering services via these staffs. They don’t even bother to greet customers at first place. In fact show their rude behaviour which can’t fit in the dictionary of Customer Service.

  • Raju KC

This used to be a very good store not long ago. Everything about the store has changed. Customer service is so terrible I am left with no words to explain. The checkout staffs are so terrible they will ruin your day. Coles management needs to lift up their game. It's simple - train your staff to greet the customer with smile, have a conversation and farewell in a pleasing manner.

  • Costas Petrides

Coles and Woolworths tend to be very similar in variety, prices and store set up. However the specific Coles at Hurstville is different. Given that there are so many Asian grocery stores, butcheries and restaurants on Forest Road and inside Hurstville station, Coles has changed its product range to include more Asian products at relatively cheaper prices than other Coles stores.

  • Helen Hodges

I placed online order for deliver 12.30 to 1.30, just before 2.30 I received a message to say they were running a LITTLE LATE spoke to Customer Service 3.15 was advised that they will make delivery in 35 mins. Most unsatisfactory and inconvenient. Will not order home delivery from Coles again. I am not sure if order was coming from Coles Hurstville station or Westfield's.

  • Lin Helena

It is a real bad experience for rain check.I took the photo of discount price for the item and went to the counter to do the rain check immediately. However, the guy did not approve as he thought it is not included in their special item brochure. It is very ridiculous. Before this, every staff was willing to give us rain check even though I forgot to redeem immediately

  • Ashish Wosti

Too frustrating customer service. This happened exactly at 6:58pm on Saturday. There was this lady in customer service who asked me to wait and made me wait until she finished her job. Isn't this business customer oriented?? Or has coles starting neglecting Customer. since i was in a rush i couldn't get what i wanted. i am a regular customer qnd i am never coming back.

  • Candy H

I can’t comment on the staff as I mostly go here after 9pm to see what’s on sale, and I use self checkout so I can avoid human interaction as I’m not usually in the mood for talking. I’m never disappointed, always good deals on meat and other stuff. Better than the one in the Westfield. If you’re a student it’s worth checking out, you can get some cheap bargains.

  • William Gao

Security guard stole my water which I brought my home, because it was unopened, just took it from my bag and kept repeating you took it from the store. Didn't have time to argue with him or tell him to check security cameras because I was running late. Terrible experience to be accused of stealing for no good reason over a bottle of water. Don't come here.

  • kylie Jennings

I go into the station Coles about 3 times a day. While i was in there tonight the security guy followed me around then started going after a few maori kids then he starts to talk about how they islander kids are always in there spilting up and stealing then he tries to tell a guy that im one of the group.Shame on u for being a racist and IM NO THEIF

  • Arjun Bhattarai

Went to the person for check out, packed bags atleast 5 of them, said good bye, she ackhowledged. Went home and found stuff missing from the bag, called them after 10 mins, the guy said things have been put back on the shelves. Had to go back to collect things myself for the second time. No apologies what so ever, served with attitude instead.

  • 이지민

This the worst customer service ever, I was waiting on the queue i was the only person left he knew that but he does not care just did something for 5min he doesn't have to do it now, not even busy, other people came at the counter. He talked to people who came later many times, this is just absurd His name is " hassan "

  • Gabriel Coins

This cause has a huge variety of producer, Staff are very kind but the prices are slightly different towards the prices and other calls, Yeah also most of there sandwiches are always sold out, The store is pretty clean most of the time. It's OK for what it is, If you need shopping down then get your shopping done.

  • sofya khatri

Today the 21st January around 9:30 pm I visited Coles as usual like every day i do but the guard on duty was very rude the what happened was that i scanned the black plum and I didn’t even notice that showed wrong quantity and price it was not even my fault he was rude. Bad experience ever

  • Richard Farmer

Coles Hurstville deli manager refused to package my salmon steaks in the paper without them being in a plastic bag, whats with that? I assured him it would be safe and if there was any issue with cross contamination i would wash them before they were cooked. No salmon for Richie tonight.

  • Jessica Jessica

Very convenient as the shop is right at the train station gate. Stock level needs to be improved during rush hours (as is always the problem with every grocery shop in Hurstville anyway). Fresh produce not as fresh as Coles inside Westfield, but location is very very good.

  • Bridget Foliaki-Davis

Despite its busy bustling location right next to the turnstiles of the Hurstville train station, the store is relatively clean and stress free. Compared with the coles in the Westfield, this is sanctuary of calm and a much better shopping experience.

  • Emma Limbu

My partner had to experience the worst interaction from one of the staffs in the smoke register. The staff was a male, he wears a half jacket and is of south Asian ethnicity? My partner said ‘excuse me’ to a staff that faced the smoke

  • M

Overall a convenient location by the station. However, it is common to witness thefts. Security at the front to "ensure" sign ins... Vegetables are not always available. Generally a lot of shoppers everyday. Self check out available

  • Simon Luk

Typical coles but manager has been rude before. For example once when checking out at 11:50pm the manager told us to hurry up despite the fact that it was the coles checkout system didnt recognise the current pricing on the shelves.

  • Ruel Celerio

Best in accessibility! It's located right next to the Hurstville train station entrance. You don't need to go far. It's comparatively big with great grocery selections. Plus it closes really late! Midnight snacks anyone?

  • Steve Ognenovski

Smaller than your normal coles supermarket however it still has most of the stuff you need to shop for. The shop was abnormally extra cold the day I went and also the customer service was great.

  • Rupa Thakuri

Very rude store in-charge who was wearing black half sweater and white shirt and had a darker complexion. Didn't make me happy at all. Shopped on Sunday morning 26th May 2019 at around 8.00 A.M.

  • Carol Shaw

Coles Hurstville is so handy to shop on the way home to buy fresh milk and bread and something fresh ham for my my lunch and other things l need so every one go there on way from work or time

  • Abdur Rahim

Don't expect a lot as it's a small branch. The self checkout can be conjusted. Customer service is really good. Specially the ones at the self service as it needs a lot of patience.

  • May Chi Lô

Convenient for me to shop when I am in hurry. It is located in Hurstville Station so sometimes it is quite busy there to check out but I still give 5 star for this place

  • Grace Fung

Convenient location buy the carpark is suck. The validation machine and the gate, etc are alwa broken down. There is a long quene jammed in front of the exit gate to it.

  • Sadrul Amin

The customer service girl name Kaniz customer service is very low quality. She is rude and not may trained how to work in the shop and provide service to the customer.

  • Daniel Foo

Really well stocked coles; well located next to the station and parking above with ample space due to the pay for parking (first hour free after being scanned)

  • Heyang Li

It is a medium sized Cole's supermarket, and opens to later than other supermarket. But, sometimes there is only self checkout, which may not suit everyone.

  • Bebeck

I dont think they check their stocks well. Found too many products way past their expiry date many times. There were a lot of Tofus expired 3 weeks ago.

  • H

Good location for a quick dash into the supermarket for milk and bread. It is a smaller store than usual and has limited variety and stock available.

  • maxibon

Go to shopping place, definitely more convenient than Westfield Coles and is just your simple everyday grocery store with large variety of products

  • myles lc

Nothing too great about this Coles. Less hectic than the one in Westfield. Park on the roof costs a couple of dollars. Has everything you need

  • srija upreti

Very convinent as it is near the station however cant find all the stuffs in the morning as they have not restocked the foods in the morning

  • stella park

Terrible service in the busy time, close the self check counter. No friendly staff, very lazy. It is not the first time, no improvement.

  • Meligy

Has a lot of various things that you rarely ever miss the bigger one in the mall, also pretty easy to navigate and find things you want.

  • Jaroslav Cihlar

Whatever on sale is never in shelve, lot of products missing, in the evening there is no actual cashier and self checkout very crowded.

  • Gernot Schreiner

It's always winter in Coles Hurstville!. People wear jackets inside when it's 30+ degrees outside. AC, what a massive waste of energy!

  • Janelee Bader

  • Rosemary Griffin

Same old stuff. Nothing new. Parking is very convenient as its on roof. No curticy chairs for elderly. Huge area in store.

  • Alexandra Kam

Pretty basic but the best it can be for Hurstville. Lines can take a while because the self serve is mainly card only.

  • Pushkar Adhikari

  • Sunil S

Great location but doesn't know how to stock on good brands with few products. Room for a lot of improvement!
