Experience: Cronulla Sand Dunes is a bit tricky on the maps. There is a long trail but you should make a turn there or else you will end up on the Cronulla Beach which is quite a distance from the Sand Dunes. Also, bring your hats when going here because it is a long walk in the sand and no shade. Appearance: The sand dunes was ‘fine’ for me. Some people might find it too awe-inspiring, but for any well-travelled person, it’s that not stunning. It’s unique on its own way but for some reason, it has a bit of artificial feeling for me. Nevertheless, this place is quite enjoyable. Planning your Trip: The good thing about this place is that if you had already gotten bored of playing around and taking photos at the Sand Dunes, you can walk to the Cronulla Beach near this place. The beach has a good view for it has an integration of Urban Life and Nature. Quite an interesting view for me. Just be warned that the smell of the sea here is quite evident.

Beautiful place but full of flies. I went there with Pierino, Camomilla, Sakè and Amen. We enjoyed the place even if the dogs attacked us to lick our faces and taste some of our beers. We saw many strange australian people playing finska Instead of beach volley or sports for men. The best part was rolling in the dunes with the sunset. One guy was filming us with the drone but he didn't want to send us the video. Maybe because Scooby doo pa pa. Anyway be careful about spiders, there are a lot that came out in the night, it's strange to see spiders in Australia but there are a lot in this place and they are not friendly.

Be prepared to burn a few hundred calories. The walk there is fairly hilly and intensive with all the rubble. Lovely view at the top can see the beach and over look Greenhills. Then running the sand dunes, this is a great day were you need to absolutely obliterate your legs. Sweat like you've had 3 coffees on the loo and drink water like you've been stranded in the Sahara Desert for a month. Also great for feeling like your heart is close to exploding after the 4th run up and down. 10/10 would do again

This is Lake Conjola, not Cronulla Sand Dunes and don't know how to change it. Fantastic lake, great views, interesting birds and kangaroos with lots of Joey's. Only problem, very noisy at the moment as they lob trees and do wood chipping. I hope they don't do this all week. We chose the Safari Tent. Worth it as the weather was bucketting down on Sunday on our way here.

Cronulla Sand Dunes is spectacular for short hike. It takes 20-30 mins to reach the sand dunes. On the way you can see bushes on one side and modern houses on the other. Absolutely unique experience. Sand dune is not so big but for the pictures it will definitely work.

The main area has a nice viewing point, with sand dunes at one end and a vast coastline view at the other. It is an easy walk from the nearest car parking (30 mins walk or less). Sliding down the primary slope is a fun way to do sand boarding, but getting back up is a sure obstacle for many

We parked on Greenhills St, there are a few access points to get to the dunes which is less walking distance than from the reserve. Kids tried sliding down the sands but didn't work. I really enjoyed the place, beautiful secenary and feeling very peaceful in the sand dunes. More

Went there for excursions & wen my parents took us out for a drive heading to kurnell my dad would stop and go up in the sand dunes that was fun in the days i miss that so much miss my childhood years ..we even took my cousins there wen they came from Melbourne they loved it.

  • Sydney Photos

Parked at Don Lucas Reserve and took around 20 minutes to walk to the sand dunes. Early morning is best for harder sand; once it dries from the sun it gets tougher to walk on. Saturday saw a lot of sizeable exercise groups on the dunes!

  • Evan James

No better place in Sydney for training, whether it's preseason cardio and lactic tolerance or mid season speed and general Fitness. Plus if you take some cardboard sheet with you - no better place to go sand boarding!

  • Metro Landscapes

Apart from the great physical aspects it was a good binding session with my 11 Yr old son. We are going to make it part of our mantra. Goals have been set and rewards are in place upon achievements. Bring it.!!!

  • Edison Lumy

Dissapointed. Can't drive up to the front. Walked about a km far from the nearest parking spot and not much sand dune left to see. Remember to bring a bicycle for a ride unless you prefer to stroll.

  • Petr Savchenko

Amazing small piece of desert with ocean view on one side and beautiful city view on the other. Ideal for training as you could climb up to the sandy hill and watch a sunset …

  • Daniel Chung

For what it's worth and the distance from the city, it isn't the worst. It is more like a discount port stephens sand dune but still offers quite a steep level of inclination up the dunes.

  • Craig Russ

The Dunes are getting smaller every year. Bit like the Great Barrier Reef. Those that went before us did not treasure the natural beauty. Most of the Sandhills are now concrete. So Sad

  • Antonino Alessi

Great to pass the time and see how the the area has been rejuvenate since the sand mining.

Great walk and views from the top of the dune. Lots of lizards, dragonflies and birds to see. Just be careful of the snakes. We ran into what looked like a red bellied black snake!

  • Moshe Wolff

best place to take your kids to have a fun time, there's a beautiful view and is nice place to work out at. the sand dunes are giant and are so much. best time of my life.

  • Sayid E

Nice views but nothing else, long walk for a distant view of the beach. Not dog friendly. Needs steps to get to the deck area. Hard to climb the sand to get to the deck.

  • Afif

Sand dunes are not too far from the beach front and its got a good view of the coastline. Its got some quite steep climbs if you want to put in a good uphill exercise.

  • Jimmith Thyroid

Absolutely stunning. Recommed the walk here because the view is well worrh it

No toilets on the path but close by at the surf club. A bit of view to the ocean but shrubbery is quite tall. The path is clear and good for walking/running.

  • Elia Uluilakeba

Awesome experience. There is also a beach nearby that has huge waves.

Great workout in the sand. It’s a bit of a walk from Wanda beach car park but ok. Take a bodyboard or skimmer board for sand boarding. Kids enjoy it.

  • Sara's Diaries

Not as big as you might expect, and construction goes on just over the hills - _-, but still lends itself to some glorious photo opportunities.

  • xuan-anh nguyen

Not big enough for sand dunes, but good enough for a short drive to have sand dunes to play with, plenty to sandslide if you bring a board...

  • Jeegar Rathod

Need to park your car near Cronulla beach and have to walk to sand dunes. Nice place. Sand sliding is possible. Beautiful view of Cronulla.

  • Isla

pretty but tiring to walk. my boogie board wouldn't slide down the dunes very well so bring something else if you want to slide down faster

Unfortunately 90% of the dunes is gone, have a look at photo's of the dunes in the 60's-70's.

It is not a huge sand dune, but still big enough and has good view of the City and the sea.

Perfect for a winter walk. Hardly anyone around and only a handful of 4wds at Boat Harbour.
