This review has two parts. First I should say that this library is a great place and I love to be there. Great place, great people, and great service. But now I write about a bad experience I had on 23-Mar-2018. I was sitting in the library hall and reading my book. I noticed one of library workers who showed inappropriate behavior. There was another family sitting near me on another sofa. A mother with a kid of age about 9. At some point the kid moved to another sofa but still in direct view of mother withing 3 meters distance. This was the time which that library worker (she) showed up and started accusing the mother that she is not watching her kid and threatened her that she may call social service and she may lose the kid to social service. She told the mother the kid MUST BE WITHIN ARM REACH. I heard this myself and this happened in front of me. If I was in a swimming pool hearing "kid must be within your arm reach" from life guard could make a sense but not in a library from a library worker to a mother. To describe more that family, I can say that the kid was a well behaved one and the mother looked a completely normal, aware, and caring. Mother was not distracted with anything (book, phone, or anything else). She was in full observation of her kid. Before this event same library worker had similar conversation with another family (A Chinese father and his +- 10 years old kid). Instead of talking properly to the father she kept threatening father with a loud voice about consequences if she calls social services and tell them that he is careless father. I understand the importance of caring about minors in public places. But her bossy approach was not constructive and was not in a respectful way.

I will say first that the staff here is great, nice helpful and outgoing. Lots of tables and plug ins for power as well. Except in the "quiet room" However; this is not a library that is set up to get any quiet time in. It is very loud with toddlers and pre teens running around. Today, it is full of 8th? graders running around like it is recess! I am totally down with having kids in the library and not at 7 - 11 but there needs to be some boundaries. At this moment it sounds like a school gymnasium before last day of school announcements. Yes they have a quiet room but the walls are only partial so not much help there either, and like I said only only long table has power so not much help in that respect either. So normally I would go out to my car to take a call but it seems that is not needed here, people just gab on their phones, run around, yelling... two boys are at this moment wrestling in a "quiet" room So disappointing.

I love this library. I first started coming here right after it was built, around 2007 or so, and it was the best. They had a fantastic selection of books, the staff were super friendly, and I got my fill of all the books and genres I possibly could wish for. This library is the reason I can still read Chinese, how I learned to read traditional Chinese, and it's where I found my love for biographical non fiction. The institution has been a tremendous part of my life and who I am. After traveling all across the country and living in Burnaby, Vancouver, Toronto, Oakville, Ottawa... None of those libraries fully captures the feeling of running your fingers down the plastic covered spines of a random numbered aisle, sunlight flooding in from the massive windows, and learning about a book purely from its covers and heft. Perhaps I'm just nostalgic, but this library will forever be one of my favorite places on earth.

Called Crowfoot library on February 06th around 10:00-10:15 to ask about a item I placed on hold. She put the phone down and I could hear them talking about how they’re suspicious of an Indigenous man who went to the bathroom who has apparently been back there for “awhile”. Why does it matter? A library’s a free place to go and he should be allowed to to use the bathroom without suspicion, especially being an Indigenous person. They hung on me after that so I called back because I didn’t receive an answer on my hold and the lady on the other end keep interrupting me on my question repeating “bye, bye” passive aggressively and just hung up again. (I understand there may have been a situation they could’ve been dealing with that man but it doesn’t matter that he was indigenous, there are definitely better ways they could have handled that).

Always a wonderful experience here. The selection of books is spectacular, the workers are friendly and professional, the kids area is great, the atmosphere is wonderful. I love that this place provides a family-friendly space while also offering quiet alternatives to studying. This library is always busy and vibrant which is a wonderful thing. I also really appreciate the $5 per month printing allowances as I think it brings people into the library and serves as an incentive to reading and culture. I’m sure it is also a great resource for people who need to do administrative work but don’t have the funds to afford paying for printing. I wish they had more registered kids programs as well as French storytime.

This library used to be one of my favorite places to relax, read a book and enjoy the view or the fireplace. The renovations have ruined what used to be a really lovely library. I was told that there used to be too many noise complaints from having the study room next to the kids' play room, but I fail to see how an open playground helps reduce noise... Also, the best view in the place can no longer be enjoyed by people without children. I was terribly disappointed when I walked in after the renos, I thought I would get used to it but that has not happened. Now, I grab my books and leave right away.

I deleted my previous 1star rating for this location but I just have to put it back up - the staff here are incredibly helpful, polite and do their best to make the library experience great for everyone - but there were only 5 or 6 functioning wall-plugs for laptops/phones/whatever up until a few days ago - now the remaining ones seem to have been disconnected from any sources of power making this place a nightmare for anyone who needs to work/study on a laptop, tablet, phone or anything that runs off of electricity. This is unacceptable, regardless of the excruciatingly slow pace of renovations

Selection & Layout are great. My kids love to come here and hang out. The librarians are friendly and helpful. BUT The parking lot is HORRIBLE, it is so bad that I'll often choose to go farther than deal with it. It is too small, people park where they shouldn't (including on the curbs, and in front of the door) yet its not enforced. After talking with management I was informed that the nearby school parking is open to patrons of library when the school is closed, however there is no signage saying that in fact what signage there is implies the opposite.

I decided to spend some time at this library like I usually do. I had a great reading experience with the seven hours I spent there. This library is a massive, beautiful, cozy, and bright environment; they have different sections for Kids and teens, special program rooms, a quiet reading place, open reading areas, and casual reading areas, and their washrooms are well maintained. They have lots of books by different authors on various subjects and areas of life. I must also commend their workers; they are professional and friendly.

It’s a great place to stop in to get some work done. Yes it is noisy. Lots of kids running around, lots of teenagers from the nearby high school BUT it’s a public library so this is normal and to be expected. A diverse range of people using a public library should not be a complaint. Staff is great. Lots of natural light. Free parking. Pro Tip: If you need a quiet place to study go to one of the University Of Calgary or Mount Royal libraries. They are open to the public and provide free wifi.

  • Trevor Armstrong

Mid-pandemic edit: I am very impressed with the book selections the staff here have made for "book bags" while closed for the third wave. I asked for "social justice themes" in preschooler picture books, and they delivered a dozen+ amazing titles. I know they're crazy busy, so to go above and beyond like that is really appreciated. Original review: Great staff, great bright space, and great selection of children's material (although they only have a very small non-English section.)

One of my best library branches in the city because of the following reasons: its location (nice view of the Rocky Mountains), the library itself is big inside - catering to patrons of all ages. Unlike busier libraries like the ones in Saddleridge and Country Hills, this location is an ideal study place because it is so quite (it also helps that the library interior is so big - even if there are lots of patrons inside, the backround noise is not so obvious).

  • Dr. Musubi

Great place to study. Go early and grab a table by the windows and you get a good sunlight for studying and feel like you're outside! If you are bothered by noise and want a quiet study area, there is also a separate quiet room where you can go. Parking is easy. They have lots of free activities for children and families. Washroom was recently renovated and very well-maintained. Printing is free up to $5 per year so sign up for a free library membership!

  • Waqqas Hanafi

A small community library with plenty of useful services and excellent staff members who are always proactive and willing to help. Half the library is aimed at young children. There are a bunch of study tables on the opposite side with views out of large windows - the library being on a hill help. There are power outlets available on each study table. Printing/scanning services are efficient and for the most part, free. Wifi is also free.

  • Veronique Delmaire

Beautiful space! The staff are really helpful and friendly. Had the best experience a few days ago when I called to pick up my son's books at the curb. The employee noticed that I had a few books by the same author and offered to gather what she had available by that same author for us. Kiddo got 8 extra books from his favorite book series! Can't wait for them to fully reopen but for now their curbside pickup service is awesome.

  • Michael Boddy

The library itself is fantastic. Parking is often impossible in the main lot. FYI there is an overflow lot to the north, but it is a long walk. Pedestrians beware, especially people with children, there is almost always a bad driver parked in the no parking zone / fire lane in front of the main doors. IMHO this greatly increases the risk to Pedestrians. Would deserve 5 stars except for the parking issues.

Calgary Public library is a busy place. It's one of the top systems in North America. Crowfoot library if I recall correctly is the busiest branch. Given its popularity its downside is parking. But now days you can access a lot of content online. I've been a donor to the library for well over a decade and am happy to see it thrive. No other place can you walk in with nothing and find so much support.

  • im_a_bored_james

Love the libraries in the city. Crowfoot is not an exception to that. It a very open place with a pretty decent selection of book and other items to get. If you’re after something particular it’s best to go one the website and put a hold on it. It also helps cause the book will be sent to the library of your choosing to pick up. Only issue are the wait time, which occur when you put holds on books.

  • Bala Gayathri Sekar

Not very packed during the weekends and nice place to study. Its not very crowded especially if you are sitting in the corner, you can study distraction free. Recently had a very bad customer service.. Don't think will be going to this particular location. Library is a place were knowledge is valued not the skin color.. very sad what happened here..

  • Dennis Xu

Lots of people have said this already, but I think we need to keep emphasizing it until things change. This isn't a library. It's an indoor playground for toddlers and screaming children. There's a "study room" on the left when you enter, but there's no ceiling, so sound just pours in. Let me put it this way, you'd be better off studying in a Tim's

Crowfoot Library it is the Best Library in NW Calgary Alberta. Excellent and the best costumer service, amazing people very friendly and serviable. Crowfoot Library, definitely It is Very clean Library and I enjoy this beautiful spaces. Thank you so much for your hard work and amazing support, you have all my respect ❣️

  • Jenae Dow

I have had such good experiences at this library. Before the closures with COVID it was a great place to bring the kids. I have always been very impressed with the staff, they have always been friendly and helpful. Now with the Curbside pickup they continue to be helpful and friendly, for with which I am so grateful. Thank you!

  • Krystle Raymond

It's so busy that it is terribly noisy. The renovation to the classroom and computer lab makes the library look modern but it offers no insulation from sound and no solid wall to keep the distractions away. The continuous interruptions of children running and screaming is the single reason why I won't be back.

  • Jose Diaz

Great library with plenty of space. There's lots of seating areas. The kids zone is very nice with toys, books and play zone. The parking lot can get quite busy though and it's not that big for such a popular library. Also, it only has 3 printers, so it can get really frustrating trying to use them.

  • Fahmida Yeasmin

My most favourite place in Calgary. I havent moved from my current place since 2013, one of the reasons is, my place is very close to crowfoot library. I have spent my numerous morings, afternoons and evenings there. Thanks a lot, all the staffs and volunteers at crowfoot library . …

  • Jacques Botha

I LOVE this library. It has a huge section for kids. Loads of tables and nooks to sit and read and a big fortress that the kids can climb and play on. There is a hand puppet stage and a big black board for them to draw on. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Take the kids there!!

  • Keri Adams

Just moved to the area and REALLY disappointed with this library. I think it's great to offer family programs but I've never been in a library with so much noise. The worst part of this location though is the parking lot - it is always full and impossible to find a spot.

  • Vytheswaran C

This is neighborhood library and big one in NW area. Staff is super cool and very supportive. Bit crowded based on the parking lot space unavailable mostly and have fee spots here and there to park. They have progr6for all age groups. Overall it's good and quiet place.

  • Melody Zhang

Robyn made my day! She helped me setting up my little one’s library card, and explained everything for me. She also introduced all the fun summer programs and encouraged me to check out more information. I’m so grateful for her patience and kindness. Thank you Robyn.

  • George Daly

Nice library. Glad it's in my neighborhood. Relieved we can now enter without face coverings. Same bad drivers however. Hard to believe illiterate people go to libraries. "No Parking" signs mean nothing to them. Regular enforcement would surely solve the problem.

  • Jon Lim

Great architecture with wide open spaces and all nice view of the Rockies. Good librarians that are helpful. Great programs for kids. Free wifi, spaces for studying. People of all ages here. Only downside, if you're driving, parking lot fills up quick in the day.

  • hunter

Great place to study. Nicely organized and very easy to find stuff. Every time I've asked for help from the staff they've been very glad to help and very helpful. Only thing is that it's kind of hard to find a seat sometimes as it fills up pretty quick.

  • Ali Z

It is really nice to have such a place nearby. The only problem is the lack of a coffeshop or at least a corner for providing coffee. If it had more desks for studying and more parking spots as it gets busy some times it would have been even better.

  • A M

It’s a nice place . But I noticed why all the lights are turned during night ? This is sheer wastage of resources / electricity . Please consider turning off the lights . Your small contribution and initiative can save big for our Canada …

  • Dahyun Park

Its a fantastic place to get your work done and have a nice view of the mountains, if you can get a spot near the windows. It is fairly quiet and close to fast food or restaurants for a nice break. Finding a parking spot may be alittle challenging.

  • Muhammad SAQIB JALIL

At sharp 5 pm one of the staff member asked me to stop copying. I said I just need 30 SECONDS and I am done. She replied we are not paid for this extra time, so stop here and come tomorrow. Best thing I could do was just to immediately stop

  • Jenna

Came to print documents through Everyone print. Ran into some trouble and documents did not print properly. The lady that was filling up papers tonight (12/28) was extremely unhelpful with a horrible attitude! Absolutely the worst employee

  • Brent Miller

The library was renovated November 2018 so it's quite nice inside. It has a good variety of books and movies/music/audio books are available as well. To note...parking is limited so if you want to spend the day I recommend going early, the

Very nice and big library. The kids section is very well organized and has very interesting books. All the new book series for age 5-12 are there. We enjoy wing there as a family. Follow me for more insights ☺️

  • Leo Lady

Beautiful Library - except for the noise. *Please be considerate of others & don't allow your kids to run & scream around the library. Common sense. (Don't put the staff in a position to police this).

  • Abiola Dauda

Expansive and fully equipped modern library with amazing resources for all ages and educational level. Sufficient free car park spaces. The interior lighting however is a notch too dull in my opinion.

  • Felici Hanes

Spacious and many places to study and sit down! This place has a quiet study room as well. I didnt see any tech related machines like 3d printers and more, but still great for kids and people!

  • wait what

Grumpy staff/volunteers and very icy driveway, but warm fireplace and indoor kids playground near the kids books. Amazing views of the mountains, just avoid the staff and enjoy a visit

  • Lisa P

Great library. Giant selection of books. They even have a Lego workshop during the summer for 6-8 yo and a gaming console for older kids. (Can’t remember if it’s the PS5 or the Xbox)

  • Kay Otegbeye

Great place for study. Has a separate children’s section with books and toys. Ample parking space, also a very good consideration for disabled and old people in Terms of car parking

  • Andrea Brightwell

Really appreciate all their hard work (as of July 2020) with pick ups, returns and transporting books on hold. It's been a summer lifesaver to have our library back! Thanks.

  • baskuduk

Charming location with a mountains view and very helpful staff. The only drawback is a noisy playground for kids which is not isolated from the rest of the library.

  • Bob Iyke

The library opened to the public today after more than 3months lockdown due to the COVID19 pandemic. A quiet environment to study and reflect. It wasn't busy today.

  • Ayrianna Stuart

Nice place since the renovations, but if you are coming here to get work done just come prepared with headphones as this library doesn't seem to have a quiet area.

  • Zach Sonnleitner

Great library. Nice space for the kids to explore with a few educational toys as well as a good selection of books for them to read. Staff is friendly and helpful.

  • Dominic Licorish (Dom)

Polite and helpful staff. Comfortable, clean, and bright main area to work in. No complaints here other than the pandemic makes it harder to get a seat at a table

  • Ivan Sierralta

The library has now a quiet study area and all bookshelves have been spaces to allow for physical distancing. This library has looots of light and open space.

  • Lis Marie

  • Poulami Ghosh

One of the best public library in calgary. Kids area is nice, clean and also well organized. The staffs are very helpful and knowledgeable.

  • Carissa Stan

Love the library, so do the kids. Parking is bad in the winter as snow is piled up throughout the lot and there is no where to park.

  • Keena E

Big library with lots of options, easy parking and nice views. -1 for not accepting donations of new and popular books though :(

  • King H

Library is spacious and decent amount of seating but it’s too noisy because there is no noise isolation from the kids section.

  • Ashutosh Kumar Jha

Great collection of books. Regular activities for kids etc. First class amenities for students and scholars.
