My family and I were very impressed with the quality of service we received from Darling & Fischer, specifically from their manager, Pam. We came to Darling & Fischer at the end of our ropes during Holy Week this year. My grandfather had just passed away, and the funeral home he had a contract with, which I will not name, would not have been able to perform his funeral and burial service until the week after Easter (apparently even such a large funeral home was unable to book anything on short notice). My whole family, which included my grandfather’s two daughters, are all from Canada, and it would have been almost impossible to wait almost 2 weeks after his passing to do his funeral and burial service. Pam was able to see us on such short notice, and did such an admirable job. Her and her team was able to get a copy of my grandfather’s funeral contract within 24hours of meeting with her, and so we didn’t need to pay anything out of pocket. Her team pretty much had one full day to prepare (on a Thursday) and we were able to have his funeral service (visitation and prayer vigil) by Friday. She was also able to get the priest who also did my grandmother’s service (she passed away the year prior) on a Good Friday. In addition, she was able to get military honours for my grandfather, who was a WWII veteran. On the day of the burial (a few days after), Pam was able to get a police escort from the funeral home to my grandfather’s gravesite for the funeral party. Pretty much everything that we had wanted to honour my grandfather’s memory came to fruition thanks to Darling & Fischer. Pam and Lorraine and the rest of her team literally went above and beyond to ensure most of my family who came was able to be at my grandfather’s funeral service. Their decor for the funeral service was top-notch, and was impressive considering the limited amount of time that they had to complete everything. I would definitely recommend Darling & Fischer to any looking for service from a funeral home, specifically their East Santa Clara location. The staff was very patient and respectful towards us, and very profession and helpful. The service we received from them was way better than the service we had ever received from the other funeral home we dealt with. My whole family owe a debt of gratitude to Pam and her team for turning what began as a horrific experience into something very positive. Thank you so much!

I originally left this as a review on another site. I think it may have been deleted, so I’m sharing it here. I'm leaving this review four years after our experience. I thought time would help me get perspective, but I remain appalled by our experience. My extended family has used Darling Fischer since the 90s. When my father died, we went back by default, because it was familiar. Frank Tong, who I believe has since retired since he is no longer on the website, tried to nickel and dime us at every step. My father had already picked a package years in advance. He went through line by line and would say things to my vulnerable mother such as "do you really want your husband to be cremated in a cardboard box?" to upsell her. We ended up paying nearly twice the package that my father had chosen, because how do you tell someone so raw in grief to stop listening to the vulture and respect my fathers wishes? To further add insult to injury, the staff had their office door wide open and was watching loud tacky videos on YouTube DURING my father's service. Yes, they did close the door when we asked, but you would think that they would know better since they're in this business. When it came time to pick up my father's ashes, Frank Tong told us he misquoted us the price for the urn, and that it would be twice what we had already paid for. Six months later the urn POPPED open, and we had to bring it down for them to repair it. This is the very last time anyone in our family will use their services.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Vanna, Lorraine, Elizabeth and their extraordinary team at Darling & Fischer Garden Chapel. Vanna assisted me with the services for my 96 year old Father and I can definitely say I have never met such a gracious and kind person. She was patient when we discussed plan options and showed so much compassion, I felt like I had known her my entire life. She made a very difficult time in my life more bearable. The day of the services, Vanna was the first person there to greet me and take me to my Father. Vanna then introduced me to a lovely lady named Lorraine who would be by my side the entire time guiding me and ensuring that all went according to plan. Lorraine also went to the burial and never left my side. This offered such comfort and strength at a time when I needed both. The services were beautifully done and the military burial honored my Father perfectly. In addition, a kind woman named Elizabeth calls and texts me periodically to follow up on my grieving process. She offers suggestions on activities that I can put to use that may help with the healing process. This makes me feel like I’m not simply forgotten now that the services are over. I will never forget this team at D&FGC and I will always be grateful and appreciative for their amazing level of service.

This was fortunately my first experience dealing with mortuaries I was already in a state of disbelief and mourning. All I had ever heard about these situations were horror stories how people had been real cold and all business and that was not my experience with Darling & Fischer. The staff there at the Garden chapel were professional but very human. From the first contact I had over the phone with Maribel and all the conversations with Elizabeth they did their very best to let me know that they understood what I was going through and they were there to help. And I’m not just saying that they truly were, I was made aware of the whole process and they kept us in the loop to Handel my father services and the whole process with dignity and understanding. The only thing I can tell you is I respect and appreciate what they did for our family. Every person I met there even the drivers were professional helpful but even more they handled the situation as if we were family and all I can do is say thank you to Maribel Elizabeth and the whole Darling & Fischer family. Thank you.

Thank you to the staff at Darling & Fischer, especially Pam Wood for all of their help, support, understanding and compassion during this emotional and difficult time as my family dealt with the loss of my grandfather. We were so pleased with the services we received. From the initial consultation, and assistance in preparing the arrangements for the funeral and the burial. Pam made what we thought was impossible - possible. The photos, the guestbook, the tribute, the music... she was able to pull everything off effortlessly. Every little attention to detail was noticed. My family and I are so grateful to her, Lorraine, and all the staff at Darling & Fischer. Thank you for going above and beyond for my family. I felt like you knew how important this was to my family, and it felt like you were working with us - not for us. Losing a loved one is extremely difficult, especially when you're over 4000 miles away. Saying goodbye is hard but you made it a little easier to do. We will never forget your kindness and care towards our family.

My Father passed away in Dec. of 2023. He made it very clear that Darling & Fischer in San Jose was where he wanted to be (this has been his family used funeral home since 1940’s) I wasn’t fond of his choice because of the memories I had of this funeral home at a young age. My experience with Darling & Fischer was nothing short of exceptional. Maribel and Geneva were awesome and I felt so comfortable. The level of professionalism and respect was way different than I had experienced at a privately owned funeral home in San Jose in June of 2022. Steve and his wife (so sorry I can’t remember her name) assisted with the service and burial. They were absolutely amazing. I can’t express enough in words the excellent customer service we experienced here. The only downfall was the outcome of my father’s appearance despite the picture that I sent. I believe that may have been out of their control. Thank you so much Darling & Fischer for treating our family with dignity!

Although our mother’s funeral services were in middle of a pandemic, the D&F team did their best to help us do the best we can to take our mother on her last journey. In particular, Vanna went out of her way to ask other clients for help to move everyone’s schedule a little so we can have our preferred visitation times at D&F to make it to our service mass can go as planned. The team was quick to transfer our mother’s body to the funeral home and made sure she was handled appropriately and on time. Our services and visitations were scheduled to be complete within 1 week of mom’s death as as wished. The team that helped on vistation and service days were also amazing. They made sure everything flowed seamlessly and were prompt to do whatever we asked at any moment. I would definitely work with D&F again for any funeral services our family needs.

This review is long overdue! My Dad passed away 2/21 and I could not be more grateful to Pam Wood and her team for all the support they have given me and my siblings during such an incredibly difficult time!! Due to the stress, I was very indecisive and changed major plans numerous times but Pam was as patient as can be, which was appreciated more than she knows! In addition, she gave wonderful suggestions that helped simplify some of the celebration of life plans. We decided to postpone the celebration for my Dad due to Covid-19 even before Shelter in Place was brought up and Pam was very understanding and supportive of the idea. I could not have had a more supportive and loving person to guide me through such a tough time with my Dad passing away and dealing with the stresses and unknowns of Covid than Pam Wood!! She is such a blessing!!

We lost my 15 year old niece in a tragic accident in August 10 of this year. It has been the most difficult time for me and our entire family. EVERY staff member at Darling Fischer did Every attempt to accommodate us during this Covid pandemic and we were still all being safe. They tried to make this horrible time in our lives run as smoothly as possible. They ALL were genuinely kind and sympathetic to what happened to our baby girl. They helped us get through this nightmare as best they could. All staff members are amazing and our entire family is grateful that we chose Darling Fischer to do our services at. I don't think that we would have gotten anything better anywhere else. These staff members are meant to be in the profession that they are in because they are truly genuine, kind, and loving of all people.

I've been to many memorials since my teenage years, and always recalled how D&F seemed to be the most solicitous to bereaved families. Now, when I needed their services with the loss of my spouse I found no different recently. D&F are very easy to deal with, never trying to up sell or otherwise take advantage of a bereaved disposition. I found them to be very flexible, patient, and thorough. D&F is the organization and people everyone should have at their side when faced with a loss. I was able to devote my entire time to other family members who were more aggrieved, and didn't have to become overly concerned for final arrangements. Darling & Fischer are the very best!

My father's funeral services were held here in February. I found the folks here to be incredibly competent, respectful, kind, and helpful. Their assistance and care was a real positive in a very overwhelming time for my family. Also, I have a genuine appreciation for the staff here for all their help especially on the day of the service: anything we needed they did their very best to provide especially Carlos during the service. The services provided include a way to publish an obituary and a photo slideshow online, eg in advance of the services. Also, the slideshow played during the services, which added a nice aspect to our honoring our loved one.

From start to finish, Geneva and Maribel were great to work with...from being honest and open about costs from the beginning to working with us and our special requests, they were awesome, understanding, and flexible. They made the process as easy as it can be in these circumstances and were 100% on our side when it came to dealing with the city through the process. We honestly can't say enough good things about the folks at Darling and Fisher Garden Chapel. We really appreciate all the time and effort they put into helping us with the very unexpected passing of our loved one. We highly recommend them.

The service they have given for my sister was exceptional. They are very supportive to all our needs and requests. The processing of the documents for the remains of my sister to be brought to the Philippines was fast and smooth. I did not have any problem and the two days viewing they facilitated was excellent, everything ready when we got there. In this time where there are a lot of limitations still Darling and Fischer Garden Chapel did an excellent service. Staff very friendly, supportive and really a relief for the family who are grieving.

I would highly recommend services at Darling and Fischer. Ms. Vanna and all the staff at D&F we had contact are very professional and kind; had helped and accompanied our family from the beginning to the end, step-by-step when my father went home to God, especially hard time of the COVID-pandemic. Dealing with a loss during this pandemic has been very difficult due to all the restrictions in place. Lorraine, Carlos, and the rest of the staff were very kind, professional, and courteous. My family felt that they really did go above and beyond to make the most perfect celebration of life for my beloved husband, despite all the limitations. So yes we had a wonderful experience with Darling Fischer. My father passed away earlier this month, and they were so compassionate and loving take me every step on how to make arrangements. I strongly advise anyone was lost a love one to bring them here show much love and compassion in the ways they set up everything, we were truly blessed to pick this facility to say goodbye to my father,vanna And Lorraine were so wonderful to us. I really was amazed at how caring this whole team is at Darling and Fischer. They walk you through the whole maze of decisions. They were very respectful at the mass and burial site .My daughter handled most of the requests by me and she too said the team were very helpful and they helped us get my husband buried a week after he died. It was important to us since Christmas was 2 weeks from his day of death. I recommend them to anyone!

I live in Europe but recently lost one of my in laws who passed in San Jose so I came over to California for a short while and I was very impressed by the services provided by Darling & Fischer.
