I had the salad and the duck the two Corus Meal and a glass of wine ,my lovely wife had the short rib and the Atlantic char and cheesecake, and of course we shared. The duck was tasty but should’ve been two legs one just wasn’t enough the good thing was it came with a bean salad with that it filled you up, the Atlantic char wife enjoyed it especially the garnishes with it. The salad was just OK nothing to write home about, The short rib was tasty but again very little, wasn’t too bad not sure if I would go back again but wasn’t too disappointed. With a 20% tip total came to 170+. That was with three glasses of wine 5 oz. “Wrote the rest of this after owner replied”I didn’t think this was a bad review everything tasted good, but in my opinion was not enough the duck leg was 3 bites of meat and the salad had little goat cheese sprinkled on top and most of it fell on the table when I tried to mix it up. From reading other reviews anything negative in there reviews you (the owner)get very defensive, take the little bit of criticism and improve from it!

We had such a lovely time last night here celebrating my sis in laws birthday that I totally forgot to get a group photo of us at the table! Ah well, a treasured memory regardless. Amazing food, great atmosphere and excellent service made for a perfect evening for a very special occasion. Three of our party had the short ribs and I ended up doing the supreme chicken...everything was delicious and the creme brule was the best I've ever had! Thanks to our server, Spencer, for his attentive service, answering our questions about the menu, and handling all of my mom's recurring comments about the duck salad not being on the menu. You navigated our shenanigans like a champ! A great place for a truly wonderful experience!

Two words - duck gnocchi! So good! My fiancé and I went to Days on Front this weekend for our anniversary after it was recommended to us and it was AMAZING! We started with the pork belly, which was sweet and delicious. Then of course we both had the duck gnocchi for our mains. My fiancé and I both agreed that it was the best dish that we’ve ever eaten at a restaurant. Our server, Erica was fantastic! She was attentive, friendly and you could tell that she genuinely enjoyed her job. We’ve been to many of the higher end restaurants in downtown Kingston and have never received the level of service that we received from Erica. As someone who also works in the service industry, it was a nice change! We will definitely be back!

Destination dining in Our Silver Lining. Days on Front, Kingston, Ontario A long-delayed visit, Days on Front has been on our radar for 2 years. Life interfered & a dine in visit has been on hold since Covid-19’s arrival. That will continue for the foreseeable future but fortunately Matt Day & crew have pivoted expanding takeout. Inside dining currently available. We were interested in Date Night Takeout Thursdays. We enjoyed our date night dinner, blinds drawn, furnace keeping us cozy in the parking lot. Sweetie says next visit, she wants her own dessert. Meal was packed in containers that were handy to eat from (dessert shared, innovated with paper plates.) Went the extra mile, rather than the plastic flatware, we used the fancy have to wash stuff. Will look forward to future visits, inside post vaccine immunization but mobile dining is a very suitable alternative.

We had driven past this restaurant many times (it is located in a small strip mall) and wondered if it was a great as the reviews - in a word - YES! Don't let the location throw you. Once inside the cozy dining room we were greeted by a very pleasant hostess, seated at the table we had reserved (reservations are a must for any day, Fridays and Saturdays are booked weeks in advance). Our server was friendly, knew the menu & ingredients, made an excellent wine suggest (love Spanish red) and was the perfect combination of attentive while leaving us time together. The short rib appetizer was Excellent!!! We both decided on the Artic Char ~ the fish was Amazing! The entire meal was both beautiful to look at and even better tastings. We will be back for our next special evening - cheers to the team at Days of Front for a wonderful experience

I can not say enough good things about this place. My hubby and I were looking for a local place to try on our Kingston "staycation".From the outside, its not eye catching at all. Located in a plaza between a medical office and a quickie mart. Don't let that sway you Go inside to experience the most amazing food and service. The restaurant was CLEAN, the tables were staged and separated creating a lovely ambient environment for every guest. Our server was outstanding, personable and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The food was some of the best we've ever had. And we are always in search of good local places to support. The owner ensured everything was top notch and checked in with every guest. My only complaint is that it's so far away from home... we will be making the 4 hour drive again just to eat here.

Days on Front is our favourite restaurant in Kingston. My wife and I have been several times for date nights and have also taken family/friends. The menu is not overwhelming and has something for everyone. The food is always quality and we have never left hungry or disappointed. We like to dress up when going, but business casual is fine too. The restaurant is relatively quiet and intimate and has a phenomenal wine selection. The prices are extremely fair and you can tell that the staff and owner take great pride in making sure your experience is great.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious dinner here last night. It was the first meal that I had had in a restaurant in a year due to COVID and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we felt so comfortable that every precaution had been taken for our safety and comfort. Each table was well spaced with lovely wooden dividers that actually served a duo purpose giving us privacy as well. We both began with the scallop appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. I followed with the shrimp and lobster pasta and my friend chose the tenderloin. Both were done to perfection. I finished my meal with the decadent Créme Brulée. The ambiance, service and food quality was second to none. If you haven't had the opportunity to dine at Days on Front make sure it is your next evening out.

My first experience yesterday for take-out valentine's dinner was fabulous. I'm not usually a fan of fruity salad but this was the most flavourful I've ever had. Looking forward to a dine in experience some day. Over the summer we ate in the parking lot patio which was a great experience. Now for New Years Eve we got take-out again. Once again my cat was the recipient of the prawns and he went wild for them! The rest of the dinner was good, especially the green beans - the vegetarian "root" vegetable lasagna was not to my taste. I find parsnips and turnip to be the worst tasting vegetables and wonder if anyone vegetarian or carnivore would chose them - sure they are cheap but far from good tasting, I'm also not a fan of goat cheese (salad). Perhaps the vegetarian risotto is better tasting.

  • C Jackson

Never disappointed when we visit! There was not a specific vegan item on the menu, but the chef and waitress were very accommodating. The chef made a delicious beet risotto with green beans and oyster mushrooms cooked to perfection. The last risotto that was this good was when we visited Hell's Kitchen. Well done! My husband savoured every bite of the crab arancini balls and decided to try the banana bread pudding for dessert and was not disappointed. Our waitress was attentive and we never felt rushed. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality of food and service.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now but have always been a little wary because the prices are pretty high and I am so tired of going to restaurants that call themselves "fine dining" and charge as if they are but, end up coming up short. (This city is loaded with those types of places). We finally bit the bullet last night and went. I have to say that after living in Kingston for 3 yrs now, we have finally found the restaurant that we have been looking for! This place checks all the boxes. Food quality is incredible, ambiance is nice, service is great, prices are still a touch on the high side but I don't mind paying for quality and that is exactly what we got here last night. Well done Day's on Front. We will definitely be back.

  • Wanda Williams

Excellent restaurant using very fresh local ingredients. Menu is interesting and varied. The wine list of a choice of 40 different wines, all under $40 dollars is really great. Went here for supper without a reservation and were given a table. The steak frites and the night's special of pan-seared arctic char with a magnificent butternut squash risotto and asparagus, were so beautifully prepared and presented. (I personally think that risotto should be a standard on the menu!) Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. It's in a little strip plaza but the inside is lovely and as mentioned, the food is amazing. I would like to give a shout out to Vicky, our lovely server, who made a very nice evening for us.

  • Jen Murray

This is the best fine dining restaurant in Kingston and it’s not even close. Like literally, no contest. The prices are generally what you would come to expect for fine dining (at least for the mains - the apps and salads are very reasonably priced), but the portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and every dish packs a flavourful punch. The vibe is wine bar chic, and the staff and owner are incredibly friendly. A lot of people in Kingston tend to gravitate downtown for fine dining, and those people are missing out. I consider myself pretty picky/ judgmental when it comes to food, and the restaurant has never disappointed me.

Delicious food and friendly and knowledgeable service. Ambiance was nice and not too loud, even on a busy Saturday night. I appreciate that they were able to seat me in the dining room even if I had booked a table in the lounge because it was all that was left. They truly seem to value their customers' experience. The duck gnocchi was so good. I highly recommend DF for a nice night out.

Absolutely delicious!!! My best friends took me here for my 40th Birthday and it exceeded all our expectations. Ordered the Duck Gnocchi and a Pear Martini. Highly recommend both. My friends both ordered the Baseball Sirloin and are still raving about it! If you want a great meal, and not junk, come here because in the end you are so satisfied and haven’t spent much more for the quality, service, and atmosphere. Can’t wait to visit Kingston again and enjoy another meal here!

Fantastic! I had intended to take my fiancée here for an engagement dinner over a year ago but, well COVID. I decided on here based on recommendations from friends. I got the short rib and beef tenderloin. She got the chicken thigh and lamb. We tried a bit of each other's meals and both thought it was all good. The quadruple chocolate cheesecake was so good! Service was great too! Absolutely would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I honestly do not understand the 1,2,3 * reviews those people must either be the most pretentious people ever or have broken taste buds lol.

  • Kelly Eaton

AMAZING!!!! Visiting Kingston & the reviews sold me to give them a try. The exterior appearances aren’t great, interior is warm, lovely decor, very comfortable. Our starter was the crab arancini, I had the short rib which is the best I’ve ever had in my life! Hubby had the steak & fries which were also fantastic! Everything we saw served looked exactly like their photos. Service was impressive, extremely friendly & knowledgeable. I can’t say enough good things about DF!! It’s D-E-F a must try if you are in Kingston. We’ll make it regular stop when we come back.

  • Elizabeth Shepherd

An absolute hidden gem of a place. Food was exquisite - the best I’ve had in a long while. Prices are quite reasonable given this. Service was fantastic - laid back, no attitude - and the vibe is nice - dim, private. It’s tricky to find because it really doesn’t look like much from the outside, which just makes it that much more of a treat to sit down to a phenomenal meal. I has the soup, arctic char and crème brûlée with the recommended wine pairing and it was all stellar, though the soup was next level.

A top-notch high class restaurant in a small quiet setting with ample easy parking. This is the type of place you expect to find in a downtown core with a classy well known chef and plates with fancy drizzles of goodness artistically set up for snap-chatting to friends. It is very often packed so make a reservation, and expect to pay $20-$34 per plate, $40-$50 per person (if you are having also a glass of wine and dessert). Well worth the money though. A great treat for special occasions and the bonus for many is the easy access.

  • Lexi Zhen

This is one of the best fine dining restaurants that most people will never find unless it's by Word of Mouth. The food here is Exceptional from the appetizers to the main courses we had beef tenderloin on Saturday night with fresh carrot cake for dessert. We always come to Kingston to do Christmas shopping on Black Friday weekend and this is our third time coming two days on front we will be back again to the chef and the staff thank you very much for making this one of the most memorable places that we've ever eaten.

DOF has been a staple of the neighbourhood for years now . We have had too many special meals there to count …Matt always makes sure you feel welcome .. like you are dropping by “ his kitchen to see what’s cooking “ . DOF serves fresh , delicious and creative menu items served by staff who care. A meal here becomes a celebration every time . They are truly part of the Reddendale community we must never take for granted. Thank you to Matt and his team !

Staff is friendly, food is great. I recommend the pulled pork or pulled chicken. Don't bother with the Mac n cheese for the kids, they won't recognise it.. it doesn't have any of the same texture or flavour. It would have been a better experience if the wasps weren't as hungry. For 2 adults and one child, total came to around 70$.

Best restaurant in Kingston, hands down. Do not let the tiny strip mall location fool you, because inside is a well trained staff and a skilled chef creating an unforgettable experience. We celebrated our daughter graduating from Queen's University and we couldn't have picked a better place. Each person's appetizer were delicious. I had the tempura cauliflower in coconut curry followed by the tender beef short ribs w garlic mashed, and ended with ice cream and brownies with fresh berry compote.

  • Stephanie Brogan

We chose Days on Front for a birthday celebration last week. The main course food was very good...chicken supreme, beef short ribs and their respective sauces were excellent; the venison was okay. Desserts - creme brule and cheesecake were good but not outstanding.Candle in the creme rule really didn't work that well. Service was average. Overall value was quite good but experience was a bit disappointing for a special event. I have heard that the lunch menu is excellent and will give it a try.

  • Renee D'Souza

Very underwhelmed. We were excited to try this restaurant considering how good the ratings are. The food was extremely bland, lacking in any flavour, even just some salt. Plus there was no salt or pepper at the table and when we asked for it the waitress seemed surprised at the request. Server was unimpressive as well. Overall just not a very good experience. Would not recommend. There are many better places to try in Kingston.

  • Jason Tilley

My girlfriend and I visited here for her birthday dinner and were both very impressed! I enjoyed the spring roll appetizer, which was sweet, and a little tangy, I would 100% get it again. My girlfriend had the soup which was also fantastic. Try the chicken supreme! And pay attention when being told of the daily special. If using google maps to get directions here, make no mistake, it is located in the plaza, not the road past.

Last night was our first visit to DF and our meals were great and the service was outstanding. Between the four of us we ordered-Caesar salad, beet salad, warm salad, duck spring rolls, scallops, duck gnocchi, steak frites and triple chocolate cheesecake. All food arrived as requested and we left happy. Everything is made in house. Looking forward to our next visit.

My wife and I celebrated our 45th Anniversary with a visit to Days on Front. Wow! There was not a week spot of any kind in our dining experience. From appetizer right through to specialty coffee, it was absolutely top notch, as was the service. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but if you have a special occasion coming up, or just want a truly wonderful experience, this is definitely the place to go.

  • Paola H

The DoF food truck has got to be a hidden gem of Kingston. They have a little patio with the truck (dog-friendly!) Where they often host live music. Drinks are flowing (frosé!- I was disappointed to be honest, not blended enough). The food is prepared in the restaurant proper so be prepared to hang out on the patio for a few minutes. They have weekly specials as well. Pricey but probably worth it!

  • Kendra Spence

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, friendly and professional staff... I love this place! Every year for my birthday It's the place I choose to go to celebrate. It's a little bit pricey compared to a chain restaurant, but it's actually worth shelling out those extra few dollars. You can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into the menu because it shows in the quality of the food/cooking.

  • Marie Edwards

First time at the food truck. Very disappointed. Pear and Brie sandwich turned out to be paper thin slices of pear with an overwhelming sauce. The small bun was burnt. Carmelized onion was all you could taste. Tiny can of Perrier and this totalled $17.00. Not worth the money. Threw the “sandwich” out.

This was the fourth time my husband and I had dinner here. Every visit and meal have been consistent. This last visit was to celebrate our 9th anniversary. I made online reservations, indicated that it was our anniversary and asked for a more private area, if at all possible. They delivered! Our waitress was also wonderful. Top notch on a Tuesday night!

  • Blake Leew

We live in the area and came here for the first time on Valentine's Day after hearing how wonderful it was from all the neighbours. It absolutely lived up to the reputation: exquisite food, excellent service, and tremendous value. We particularly enjoyed the tuna dish, the short rib with Bordelaise sauce, and the banana dessert. Five stars all around.

  • 613 Bassin

My wife and I love this restaurant. Probably our favorite in Kingston. Casual fine dining with a great menu. I have tried almost everything and what ever you order will be fantastic. Always good service and the desert menu is good too. Update: they now have a food truck during the summer season. A limited menu but still delicious!

  • Seth Kwe

First time customers from Toronto while visiting the city. Food and service was top notch and very well priced. I agree the portions are large, but I was happy to take home the leftovers. We thought we were in the wrong place when we arrived, as it’s in a strip mall, but don’t be thrown off, a lovely surprise awaits you inside.

  • Kermit Ester

Favourite restaurant on Kingston's West end. You pretty much always need a reservation. Food is local, and you can taste the difference. The beet salad is the best salad I've ever had, and the dressing is out of this world. he short rib is our go-to, and it's the most amazing melt in your mouth, fall apart beef I've ever had.

  • Jessica Lynn

I cant believe this place! This is a hidden gem!!!! The food was so delicious and well presented. Our waiter was also amazing and he knew everything in the menu!!!! We will definitely be returning next time we visit!!! The food is also locally brought in, the beer was from local breweries!!!! That is awesome on it's own!!!!!!

My wife and I checked out the DOF "gut truck" out front. It was just ok. My wife enjoyed the Mac-n-Cheese. I stupidly though that because the burger was $16 it came with fries. Lol I was wrong. The burger was unremarkable really. About 4oz patty nothing "WOW" about it. Not worth $16. Not worth a 2nd visit from me.

Best food and options, especially steak and frites, in Kingston. While the location is not the best, a good restaurant will always be found where ever it may be and this a real nice, friendly place. Kingston had a hidden gem for fine cuisine. Get the cauliflower and calamari. The wine list could use some work.

Just get back from our dinner and it was too good that I couldn't wait to put the review on. First of all our waitress Katrine was amazing. Secondly food is stunning. We had to wait a little bit longer for main course but they apologized and it was worth it. Now it's our most favorite restaurant in Kingston.

  • Jim Terfry

Best restaurant in Kingston. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the indoor dining space is cozy and comfortable. The food, often locally sourced, is excellent. Great wine list which pairs very well with their dishes. A higher-end establishment without being pretentious. A gem in Kingston's west end.

  • J Miki

Hidden gem! The owner is so nice, he came by our table and offered to remake a dish when he saw that one guest had not eaten very much. The guest said everything was delicious, they just don't eat a lot. Very considerate of the owner. Happy to support local businesses now so they can make it to a new year.

One of Kingston's best kept secrets. Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you. It's well decorated, and, more importantly, food is succulent. High-end bistro type of stuff. Very reasonably priced for what you get. You might need a reservation: this place is popular!

  • brian weir

Good fine dining food, but the current takeaway of fine food just doesn't have the same appeal of eating in a restaurant. Plus we live a bit away, and despite best efforts, the food suffers as it cools down. Their Celiac friendly gluten free options can be counted on.

  • FCH

Superb choice for dinner. Quiet competent and friendly service, quality all around. One of the rare establishments that provide excellence in everything offered matter of fact. Tip: the wine list is weak - bring and enjoy your own bottle for a modest corkage fee.

  • Brian Andre

Usually not into fancy restaurants but we just had to try this gem. Been hearing about it for awhile. Had the duck breast, so good! She had the Beef tenderloin also worth while. I will warn you menu options are limited and make sure you bring a full wallet.

My birthday dinner was absolutely delicious. The server and the socially distanced tables made us feel very safe and respected. This restaurant is awesome in every way, great ownership too.

The butternut squash soup was amazing. So was the crab arancini. Lovely atmosphere, and delicious food. Such a gem in the neighbourhood!

Excellent dinner of beat salad, sockeye salmon and chicken in a coconut curry sauce. Good gluten free options including delicious berry crème brûlée. Always a treat to dine here!

Very good! Summer time it's the chip wagon and outdoor patio but quality is excellent! Inside the restaurant, there is the beer/wine bottle shop. Overall, it's excellent!

Very good quality of ingredients! Especially the steak. Every bite was flavorful. Our waitress ensured we received our food promptly and we had everything we needed.

Excellent service and wine pairing. The butternut sqash soup is delicious and is a classic comfort food. The braised short rib just melted in my mouth. …

They turn 10 years old in May and this is the best restaurant in Kingston. Best food, best service, and remarkably affordable for the 5* meals they serve.
