"I likely wouldn't choose this place again"
"Let’s start with praises to the best bartender Ottawa has to offer, Kayla O"
"Great atmosphere, however went for the turkey dinner, very small portion, potato and bread is cheap, give more than a scoop"
"We required a late evening meal, and this establishment happened to be open during those hours"
"I had a good Haggis, however my date had a half cooked Haggis and after it was returned 2 times to so it would be cooked thoroughly it was returned still medium rare"
I likely wouldn't choose this place again. The pub itself is divided into a couple of different sections where you can have a sit-down meal and watch non-sports, sit at the bar, or sit in an area close to live music with TVs that have sports on. I didn't like the burger and fries. With a beer it came to ~$24. I'm not sure if it was just the time of day we went, but the burger was very dry and the fries are carbon copy of McDonald's, and unfortunately I'm not a fan of shoestring. We also had interesting service that I really didn't understand. It seems like at a certain point in the night, all daily specials cease to apply, even though the menus we received had paper inserts with specials. These weren't happy hour specials, they were daily and I just was a bit confused why they wouldn't either make it a happy hour, take the special paper insert out of the menu, or honour the specials on the menu. "Everyday is special at Deacon's", just not when we were there. All in all, I've had far better experiences at other restaurants, and better food from fast food chains. Beer was cold at least.
Let’s start with praises to the best bartender Ottawa has to offer, Kayla O. She see’s you sit down at the bar? She’s trying to give you a beverage and check your temperature, see what you like and what you don’t like. Every time she walks by she’ll ask if you’re good, if you need another drink, if you want water, anything, she simply provides service the entire time she’s on the floor. Now I know Canadians have low standards for a lot of things, particularly customer service, she’s the exception. She rocks out every single show consistently. DB also has the amazing $11/3shots. Can’t go wrong tbh. Food, I wouldn’t personally… but I’m picky.

Great atmosphere, however went for the turkey dinner, very small portion, potato and bread is cheap, give more than a scoop. Turkey was good, however it has a stuffing made of carrots so its not really a full slice. It was not very busy but never got refills of water, never got an opportunity to order another drink, was not very impressed. Service was terrible as waiter never came to check on us, definitely not an eating place

We required a late evening meal, and this establishment happened to be open during those hours. It is a remarkable Scottish-themed pub. The waitress exhibited exceptional friendliness and engaged in enlightening conversations. The addition of an outdoor patio enhances the overall experience. The food and beer provided were of excellent quality, leaving no room for dissatisfaction.

I had a good Haggis, however my date had a half cooked Haggis and after it was returned 2 times to so it would be cooked thoroughly it was returned still medium rare. Unless the dish asks for it, I'm very confident ground meat must be cooked thoroughly before being served to anyone. Outside the Haggis the Service and atmosphere was wonderful

They have daily specials. Thursday after 9 pm 1/2 on drinks. Really cheap considering. Oak wood finish … typical Scottish pub design and flare Live music between 9 pm - 1 am as well. Many large screens broadcasting sports. Very loud ambiance but if you don’t mind shouting ….. great! Friendly and swift service.
Great Scottish themed pub in Central Ottawa in the Scottish Quarter. Waitresses very chatty and friendly. Had Tennents Lager and Tennents Stout on draft. Decent prices and Happy Hour specials.
