We went last Thursday to their wing night - wings are half price. We’ve had decent experiences from them before but I felt the need to highlight our less than great experience on Thursday last week. Our service was slow - it took the server two trips to bring us water and our other drinks. My wings were cold - like they’d been taken out of their fridge and just plated and the sauce was incorrect. When I told my waitress, she offered to get new wings and I simply said I did not want new ones, I didn’t want anything else. She didn’t like that and brought over the manager who also tried to convince me to get new wings. I repeatedly told them that I didn’t want new wings and got even more frustrated that they were trying to push them. I think it’s my right to say that I don’t want new wings. We got our bill and they took both our wings off the bill which was appreciated although I was prepared to pay for my husbands as his were not as cold and he had eaten his. Hence the two stars not just one. The waitress took my cash off the table, did not ask if I wanted change or anything. I watched her behind the bar for a good 5 minutes and when she return she dumped my $6 change in quarters. So overall, the experience was not stellar. The service was mediocre and so was the food. I would have been fine if the manager listened to my request the first time of not wanting new wings - I did not feel heard or respected in my choice. Why would I want new wings when I should have had them done right the first time? Also we felt that because we were not “regulars” to the bar, we were not served as well as those who have a relationship with the servers. While I respect relationships built, I would expect the same level of service which did not happen.
Ambience and staff were second to none. Our server was awesome, friendly, attentive and eager to please. As a starter I had sweet be potato fries, a favourite I make at home at I thought the $8 paid for 1/2 a sweet be potatoe. The salad that accompanied my meal (I paid an upgrade to have a Greek salad). After the spud experience I counted. Four tiny tomatoes 5 olives and I doubt the sliver of onion encompassed the entire slice. The beef dip was tasty and small and the fish portions were fine. I rarely eat dessert but I was still hungry after a starter and an entree, the dessert tasted awesome, it must have taken a sharp knife to have cut it so thin. I know we all have to stretch a dollar after covid but the meals were definitely tasty and hadn't the starter and salad portions been so obviously wanton I would have given them 5 stars. But I guess the small portion size forced me to buy a dessert maybe their intention is to leave you wanting more!
We went to Barley Mow after my best friend's rehearsal for her wedding! We had a reservation for 7:30 and when we got there it was packed. They were terribly busy but the waitress manage to keep up with drinks.. thank god. Luckily right when the first people got there they ordered appetizers because just those took forever. Not even sure what they ordered but YAAAS, they were incredible. I ordered a pesto burger (Napolio, or something) with a ceaser salade on the side. Split it with a friend who got a chicken burger. We cut our burgers in half to try a bit of each, wasnt crazy about the nacho chicken burger. The pesto one was amazing but seemed a bit undercooked or greasy... that night my friend (the bride) and i both puked the night before the wedding... after both sharing the same burger from barley mow... not sure exactly what cause it because the one burger that may have been tainted tasted amazing... so... was it worth it.
Overall: A solid post-work spot with weekly deals and incredible staff. Food: Tried the cauliflower bites and zucchini sticks as they were part of a happy hour deal. Both tasty and went well with my beer. Next time I go will try additional items to provided better food review. Drink: A nice selection on tap, the beers were full pints and ice cold. Atmosphere: I recently moved to Stittsville, and this is clearly a popular spot! Place was well attended (was a Thursday) and had quality TVs, tables, and nice pub feel. Service: Phenomenal service at this location. They were fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. Price: Outside of the daily specials, the prices are typical for the pub style spot. However the daily specials are quite enticing and in my experience some of the best in the area.
Great location, not a lot of parking close to the bar, but it has many parking lots adjacent to it. Nice and new inside, seating is comfortable. Menu is as you would expect for a gastro pub, for instance they do not have a "regular" burger on their menu, but you can have the barley burger dressed with regular ingredients which they did for my wife which was awesome. The menu is a little on the more expensive side, which I'm sure is due to the quality of the ingredients. My Barley burger platter was 18$, but you can tell the quality of the food is excellent. Beer portions are generous, cocktail menu is good. They have a live band on certain nights as well, there are lots of TVs to watch the game. Overall great place you just pay a little more.
Went here for dinner with my lady friend. The service was nice but the environment is very loud because it's concrete floors, the beer and drink selection was decent but the food was very bland. I had their signature "Mole Bowl" and my lady friend had a chicken curry dish I believe and there was just no substantial flavour to any of it, despite them both being dishes that should have had a lot of it. In Stittsville, there's no shortage of options for pub style food and a lot of it isn't even that much more expensive, despite being much better quality and not from a chain. We won't be back any time soon.
First time here. Food was good. It's a bit pricey though. For myself there wasn't much of interest to me on the menu. There was my Mom and myself and it cost Mom just over $50 for the 2 of us. That consisted of 2 meals an order of fries. No drinks no desserts. No steak either. Service was awesome but food was average.. Not quite what you would expect for the cost of eating there. For instance my meal consist of a bacon cheeseburger with both regular bacon and peameal bacon and toppings with side of French fries was $19.50 before taxes. That to me was A little expensive for a burger and fries.
I had dinner here with my mother who has a nut and shellfish allergy. Her order had almonds on it and she asked that they make the food without the almonds. No problem! The next thing we know a very friendly and apologetic manager turns up at our table. He explained that they do all the prep ahead of time (like most restaurants) and that he couldn't guarantee her food had never seen an almond. He stayed at our table and workshopped a meal for my mum so that she could eat! What a great place! 1 star off for not having better food control in the first place, but 4 star service.
They have a great military discount- 20%!!!! I've been coming here a few times, but the food has improved alot! Staff are extremely wonderful, clean bathrooms and live music reminded me of the east coast pubs. Kid friendly and out door sitting is cute. Keep up the great work.

If you are looking for a place with good food I'd suggest somewhere else. My wife had the mac and cheese and I had the blackened chicken burger. The mac and cheese was just ok but there was so much salt on the blackened burger and fries that we both couldnt make it through. Horrible. The drinks are... well drinks. The service was great. We had shannon and she didnt make us wait at all. At then end of the day treat this place like a pub to get drinks at and you wont be disappointed. The food is extremely salty and very sub par.
We decided to give this location a second chance after having a bad meal. Bad decision. The fish and chips were horrible due to cold fries and saugy fish... It's like they microwaved it. The chicken was dry dry dry and bread the same. We should have sent it all back but after a day of dealing with a power outage we just ate it. Server was great and meal came quick. Host was not on the ball offering bar seats to people behind us and not to us. Doubt we will ever go back. Good place for a beer but eat elsewhere.
Served by Kamila and the team at Barley Mow… wow amazing as always. Again I come to enjoy my night cap (double Jack and Diet in a short glass), and again I get charged for 2 single drinks ($14.01)… In comparison to most other bars in the area (either adding $3 to a single OR as in the case of St. Louis in Kanata, $9.56 for a double Jack and diet). Think about it, 1/2 the work, coke, and ice yet I’m penalized for wanting to enjoy my drink of choice)… Hoping things change. #buildingloyalty #ballinyourcourt
First time and will definitely not be the last! Best fish and chips I've ever had! Service was 10/10. Very kid friendly. Our waitress and waiter was very friendly. We sat outside and it was empty. So much yummy items on their menu but I was craving fish and chips. Next time I plan to try their other menu items. This will surely be our regular restaurant to dine in at.

Had some late night food and drinks with friends.. on our way in the specials board said 1/2 price apps but apparently was a mistake. We mentioned this to the manager on duty on the way out after paying and didnt really feel like we got an apology nor a partial refund. Shouldnt this be honoured? You might want to fix this for any future customers who would make a bigger argument over it... Kind of a dissapointing feeling after leaving. Probably wont return.

Tried something new on the menu. It was good not great. They were definitely understaffed; the server did her best but overall service was also only good not great. Went back today (Feb. 2022) - still understaffed and the meal took a long time to arrive. My meal was still just OK, not great. What was unusual was the presentation of my friend's meal - smoked meat on a croissant and banana cheesecake in a pastry??? Won't be going back anytime soon.
I've become a regular here at The Barley Mow. The Food is great, the kitchen gets food out consistently and quite quick even during the lunch hour rush. The service is absolutely incredible. Kate, Andrea and Kamila are fantastic. Always right on top of my orders, checking in to see if everything is right to my liking and always welcoming. A great spot to go get food/drinks. Would give it more than 5 stars if I could! Brandon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolute worst service in Stittsville. I have been there a few times and every time I have been, I had bad service. Every person I know that has been there says the same thing. Sarcastic, condescending and rude servers. My server shook her head because I asked if she could squeeze a lemon on my chicken...served me a flat beer and again, shook her head when I asked for a new one. I will never go back there. Too bad I cant put ZERO stars
This is our goto pub in the area. It is consistently good. The wings are good, as are the sandwiches. We've always had good service. Quite simply, this pub makes the others in the area look bad. They are far more generous with the helpings, and they don't skimp like some of the others. The staff are genuinely friendly, and seem to enjoy working there.

Great location. Our server was Alfie. I give him an 11/10! He is so fantastic with all his tables, watching him circulate, you can see how sweet he really is. He literally is a staple of this location. We came in late, the food was delicious, and we were not rushed. Thank you for another excellent experience! -'chocolate cake girl'

Stittsville location ... A group of 11 of us went for dinner and drinks after our football game. It was a busy night with live music and of late I had lost faith in the service Industry. This night our faith was restored as we were served by Kristy. She was pleasant, always smiling, fast to refill beverages without us needing to ask. She restored my faith and I would recommend this establishment to everyone.
I was recommended to try this restaurant because it used to let dogs onto the patio, however was told that no dogs were allowed. I was not the only person who brought their dog thinking they were allowed, at least 4 different parties of people didn't eat here (while I was looking for a different restaurant) because they were turned away for having dogs. Just posting this for future dog owners.
I've never eaten here, there's a big selection of big name beers but a couple of locals as well from Ashton and Perth. I always sit at the bar. They're quick to remember your favorite pint and are pretty friendly/chatty but without losing time making drinks which is good for the people in the dining area. Nice looking patio I've never sat on, I get enough sun from cycling.
Tried to seat us at a dirty table. The table was still dirty even after they "cleaned" it. Didn't get menues when we sat down. Had to ask for napkins. Wasn't told there is an upcharge for raw onions on a burger...like really. Unattentive. Had to track down another server to get pickles that were missing on the order. And why is keiths a premium beer. Will not be back.
I had the chicken tacos. They were amazing, but came with a side of nachos and salsa. The nachos were soo salty I couldn't eat them. I love tostitos nachos (which are really salty), but this was another level. Not sure if the kitchen added salt or not. If they did, bad on them. Else, please change nachos supplier.

My partner and I come here several times a month because we always enjoy our experience. It's within walking distance of our house so it's a very frequent visit for us. The nachos with blackened chicken and the sticky fingers are our go to's and they never disappoint. There's never a wait for a table, the service is always quick and the team is very friendly.
The Barley Mow did another great job in providing our group with a nice spot to run our event. Thanks to Katie and Kamila for the great service and putting up with the a rowdy gang. Thanks to the kitchen staff for doing a great job. Our event was in support of the Ottawa Toy Mountain campaign. Thankyou

First time visiting The Barely Mow, and we had an overall great experience. The service was friendly and fast, the beer was cold and the Calamari is honestly one of the best I’ve had in the Kanata area. Great neighbourhood bar and grill, give them a shot this summer!

Sat on the patio but it needs a good cleaning. Food and drink were well priced and good. Great friendly service and very quick. Did have to wait to be acknowledged when we walked in. All country music at a pub is a turn off- mix it up or make it more neutral. Will be back - we walk but needs improvement to win over my business on a regular basis.
Went to 10¢ wing night and was informed when I called that as long as I purchase a drink, then the wings are 10¢ each. However when I got there, the waitress said you can only order 8 wings per drink. This was not told to me when I called and nowhere on the website did it say only 8 wings per drink. What kind of false advertising is that!!
Went in for a couple drinks and sat at the bar for ten minutes while the server was enjoying a conversation with THE ONLY other customer at the bar. Finished my first drink and waited another good amount of time while she was chatting away before I could order again. I just took my bill instead and left. Won't go back. Atrocious service.
We ordered fish and chips, Philly Cheese Steak. The steak was the best the taster have ever had. The fish were excellent, the dip was great and the slaw was quite different using Kale, but turned out great too. The server was very pleasant and attentive. In short a great eating experience. There is ample parking , the washroom was clean.
The pub is beautiful. The weekly specials are a good enough reason to come. They have a great team working here. There's one guy that I've seen every time I come who is a master in the customer service skill. I wish I remembered his name but you'll know its him by the band he wears on his arm. Thanks for a great experience every time.
I phoned the restaurant after an Uber eats experience because it was missing items. The driver had taken too many order and had mixed up the orders. The restaurant was kind enough to deliver the missing food even though it was not their fault! Such above and beyond serves. Thanks again !!! The food was also delicious!
Wings were gross and soggy, I know they were half price but that's no excuse for half the quality. If i was going to guess I would say they were deep fried hours previous and left In a sealed container to become soggy and disgusting before being sauced, microwaved, and served. At least you can't mess up beer...
Wow. Last time we were here we said we wouldn't come back, for some reason we did. Terrible service, like pulling teeth to get a second beer. Mediocre food, overpriced. Worst wings I've had. Annoying, busy menu. It's a pub.....why try so hard to be something else? It's not working.
Place was nearly empty but service was still very poor and extremely slow. Multiple mistakes with food and drink orders. They have Pho on the menu, but need to remove it. Worst Pho I've ever had. With all the other options in the area, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
During this hard time for all businesses I felt honored to be able to support a local small business. They were friendly and kind. The food was great and my family of 6 will definitely be ordering again! Thank you for supporting your staff with a percentage of the sales!
“Steak frites”. For the price the 1/2” thick steak was expected but when the piece of meat is 50% fat leaving only a couple square inches edible that isn’t good enough. The cook and seasoning were good. This is my last try here, the beer is colder at home
My family took me here for my 40th birthday. good food and good service, great spot in stittsville to go with family and friends.

We visited this past Sunday and it was great. We had 3 kids with us and we received a private booth, the service was great (Thank you Brendan) and the food was delicious. We learned at the end that Kids Eat Free on Sundays so that was a nice bonus. :)
We were the only people in the place, 5ish on a Sunday. The staff were gossiping about a previous client, something about a poor tip. Considering how inattentive the staff was, I don't doubt it. I'd be surprised it the location survives. Food.... meh

The staff were friendly and our waitress was very knowledge about different drinks. When we tried one of them and didn't like it she returned it and never charged us. One downfall I found was the menu was very small and didn't have much variety.
Best extra crispy fries I've had to date. Chip trucks wish they tasted this good. Thoroughly enjoyed these fries and, the beers were just as fresh. Our server was exceptional and loved the accent. Jay's lost but that didn't ruin the atmosphere.
Good food, plenty of beer choices. Music was far to loud during lunch time which made it very difficult to hold a conversation even after asking to have the music turned down. Definitely recommend for a nice meal, beware of the loud atmosphere.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Barley Mow, and I must say it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. This cozy establishment offers a delightful ambiance, delicious food, and top-notch service that left a lasting
We were in on Sunday and the football game was turned on and the sound was cranked!! Way too loud for a pub. How about put the game on and then add in music and mute the Tv. No one was even watching the game! Pub...food and friends and
Food and service was great! We really enjoyed our visit. My husband and I shared the fish & chips and the blackened chicken burger. My in-laws got the fish platter, and my daughter had the kids fish fingers. Their fish is SO good!
One of the better local pubs in town. Good beer and atmosphere for the most part. A good, not great, selection of beer on tap. Ignore the signage, though, lots of signs for beers like Guinness, for example that they don't carry.
We have previously been here and I have to say the food is always outstanding. I am sorry to say on this visit service was lacking and not because they were busy there were maybe 4 tables in and I saw at least 2 servers
Its extremely expensive here. You can’t enjoy an app without adding another $20+ to your bill. Some of the mains don’t come with sides and are small in size and the specials have detailed stipulations to be allowed.

Tonight was first visit. Server was cheery, good choices of different dishes on menu. Well presented and hot, tasty food. Battered Cauli, chorizo do, fish and chips, malayan curry. All great.
Great customer service, we were there on a very busy night, had to wait long for our dinner, without complaining, the manager told us our appetizers where on them. Food and service were good.
Absolutely love this place! Hands down best fish & chips in town. Good prices, great service and friendly people! John and his staff always make sure to go over and above to take care of us.
Pub fair menu with live music later on Friday and Saturday nights. Local craft beer with your typical InterBrew selections. Clean washrooms, well designed and open concept bar and seating.
One of the best places in Stitts Vegas... Staff are nice and the food is great. They change the menu from time to time so your favorites might be missing. Great selection of pints on tap.
Great food and drink selection and friendly, welcoming service. This location has a warm, cozy feel to it. Get a spot on the patio in the summer, or one near the fireplace in the winter!
The staff here are very friendly, service is efficient and we've never had issues with the food. Tried some seasonal beer from Perth whose name I can't recall. A lovely time all around!
Good service, great staff, and great people! Often live bands perform, food service is also very good! Nice place to relax with friends or have a "calm" date with a significant other
I have tried few barley mow in ottawa, and this location is my favorite. Aug 18 was there again, good food and very friendly staff. Really good 1000 island special on Thursdays.
Every time I've gone I've had bad service. Took 45 minutes for a single drink once. And it wasn't even a busy night. Food was mediocre and overpriced. But that's not surprising.

I had the chicken taco salad and it was good. I didn't think Doritos chips was a necessary add as the portion size was enough for me. Good service and very comfy seating.
Not a terrible place to go for a bite to eat and a drink, but I've certainly been to better. Beer selection is on par with any other pub, but the food isn't very good.
Great food, fast service on the day we were there. The place was full which is also nice to see. Lots of free parking. Can be a bit loud on game days. Fun atmosphere
Great and friendly staff. Food is delicious. Beer selection decent. Food portion for the daily was a bit small, even though very tasty (Meat Loaf, Mashed and Veg).
Good beer selection. Food is declared as gastro pub fare but was in line with most other chain bar offerings. Service was a bit slow but overall a good experience.
Great selection of drafts. Many TVs and can easily accommodate many different sporting events at the same time. Food is good but not great. Overall a great place!
Tuna Poke salad was awful. Not sure what it is trying to be but way too many random ingredients and none too fresh. Tuna was very dry and over cooked. Tasteless.

Great ambiance. Went there for a work event for the first time and service was pleasant, food was good and was an overall great experience.
Fish & Chips was delish. My husband got the club, another winner. I liked the country atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and helpful.
Great friendly service and the crew are always ready for an ear bend lol. No serious, good all round place to have fun. Love this place
Server was excellent My wife was unable to eat her meal. The sauce on the Flatbread was too hot. Side order of poutine was not the best
