My son absolutely hated Afrikaans (speak, read, write… alles) and with our covid situation in our schools - the on and off days from school just fueled his hatred. He struggled badly. Towards the end of the second term, I decided to enroll him to Die Boek Feetjie and Splat Tutoring to help him with the languages (mainly Afrikaans). That was the best decision I have ever made. My son LOVES Afrikaans now, and he enjoys going to DBF and Splat. At the end of each session in the car on our way home, he will explain what parts of speech or punctuation they covered (English or Afrikaans). He will give their meaning and how to use it in a sentence or where it is in a sentence. His reading and writing for both languages have improved significantly.
