"People, this is the address of the EMBASSY , which takes care of international affairs with foreign government bodies, not the CONSULATE,which takes care of visas, documents and such"
"Embassies take care of diplomatic matters, Consulates process documents (VISA, etc)"
I called the number and was told I had reached the embassy and was told to go to the website when I had questions. I asked politely if the person on the other end couldn't transfer me to a live person or could answer my questions about the certificate that wasn't on the site. They hung up on me and tried numerous times to act like they couldn't answer the phone. She finally did and tried to act polite again. I wanted to talk to management, but they didn't have anyone to file a complaint what a fantastic system you guys have, and helping the citizens of Brazil and America. You genuinely do treat us like dirt.
Worst expereince of my life. They obviously hate Americans and make it almost impossible to obtain a visa there. They make you buy plan tickets ahead of time before they will even except an application for the visa. Then they will make you wait 2-3 for an appointment in person for the visa. Then they will make you come there in person. Then they will make you wait in line only to tell you you paperwork is wrong. Rude people working there. Very disturbing attitudes.
People, this is the address of the EMBASSY , which takes care of international affairs with foreign government bodies, not the CONSULATE,which takes care of visas, documents and such. About wait and difficulty with visas: usually these rules are bilateral. Go ask a Brazilian how they are treated when applying for visas in US consulates in Brazil. Ask how far they have to travel to even apply for it.
Embassies take care of diplomatic matters, Consulates process documents (VISA, etc). Instead to call them, read the information on the website, do your homework, plan your trip in advance and, you will be able to solve your problems in time. Very often people get frustrated because forget to plan in advance.
They don't answer the phone or respond to email inquiries about tourist visas. it is easier to get visas to China and Russia. The other south American countries do not have such an elaborate system to keep you away from visiting their country.
Terrible service. No one will answer calls as noted in several of these comments. Yes, I am sure most people have gone to the website and read the information and understand it, but sometimes you might need one point clarified.
Vou deixar 4 estrelas, pois o atendimento via telefone precisa de uma atenção maior! Tive algumas perguntas e enviei por email e todas foram respondidas prontamente no dia seguinte! Atendente super atenciosa.
If you are applying for a visa you must go to the Consulate General of Brazil located at: 1030 15th St NW Washington, DC 20005 Their hours are very limited, so make sure you get in early.
Why can nobody answer the phone ever!? I’ve been calling every single week at various times - if everyone should be vaccinated by now, why it isn’t open until now?
The Embassy of Brazil has many events and does a great job promoting things of interest to the Brazilian community and others in D.C.!
Very unhelpful. Listened and did nothing. Can not get a visa to Brazil so we will not go. Tourists are not welcome I guess.
These people who are supposed to be a support to the Brazilian people in this country act as if they own the world.
Vim para tirar o passaporte na 1030 15th St NW, DC. Em 30 minutos passaporte na mão, traga tudo, e é só alegria.
If you need consular services in the DC area, for visa etc, see: cgwashington.itamaraty.gov.br
We arrived at the wrong place, needed to go to the consulate, but we were well attended.
Under renovations throughout buildings. Great in house restaurant and friendly staff.
They don't answer phone calls! I have tried many times but nothing. Very confusing.
