I recently moved to DC from Michigan and was having a lot of "unknown" trouble with my Jeep. Basically, all I knew was that my car wouldn't start and it wasn't the battery. I decided to have my Jeep towed to Capitol Hill Exxon via AAA towing because C.H. Exxon was a AAA recommended service shop. Woody and the other service men were professional and approachable (I appreciated their nicely designed logo uniforms too). Although they were very busy, they took my jeep because I had made an appointment online (I recommend doing that). C.H. Exxon figured out what was wrong and fixed a piece in my ignition, instead of replacing the whole starter package. I deeply appreciate them doing the extra research to find a smaller piece for a fraction of the price rather then charging me to replace the whole system. That's very respectable and honest!!! ATTN FEMALE CUSTOMERS: As a young, female that knows "next to nothing" about cars I felt very comfortable talking to Woody and his staff. They took the time to explain in layman's terms what was wrong and were respectable gentlemen. They even were willing to explain the problem on the phone to my father, who lives in Michigan. BEST: My jeep was done at 6:00ish, so Woody came and picked me up in his personal vehicle, so I wouldn't have to metro back over. Very nice, standup guy. I recommend Capitol Hill Exxon and will be a returning customer if my jeep ever needs anything else!
Beware of Very Rude Mechanic (I'll get his name later) Over 20yrs I have gone to this gas station for service and one experience have turned me off. At 740am enroute to the Capitol, I decided to stop in and to see the older gentleman that normally assit with directions, gas, repairs etc. Unfortunately he was not there... Another nice gentleman from inside assisted me with air on this visit. One of mechanics was very rude, af - stating the guy should pull my car to the street for free gas - as he needed the space for paying customers... BTW no one else was in line or waiting. Why was he so rude toward me? I may never know. What I do know is that experience didn't make me feel good and now I have to second guest if I want fill service again. Tip: treat all customers the same with respect and professionalism.
There seems to be some dissatisfaction regarding Capitol Hill Exxon's gas prices. I have yet to show up at the pump and must acknowledge a lack of partisanship in this regard. Yet, as to the excellent service and unfailing reliability of its mechanics and diagnosticians, Capitol Hill Exxon is - and has always been - absolutely impeccable. I have never been charged for add-ons that seem to appear, in so many other places, after the fact and, if I'm in a hurry, Woody and his crew are often able to expedite the work at hand and send me away with great expectations (I mean, for an appointment that had seemed - when I got to the station - out of reach.) I have been a customer at Capitol Hill Exxon for over ten years and have no desire to go anywhere else. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Cars litter the small lot and it's hard to get in to get gas. Not to mention, this grimy homeless-looking dude who was sitting on the stoop... walked up to my car to pump my gas. He had no name tag... no exxon smock or shirt... nothing. And he insisted it was full-service (although I'd been there before and did self-serve). He showed me the full-serivce sign on the price board and I begrudgingly handed him my credit card, half expecting him to run off laughing at the idiot that handed some random dude his card. But, I was on super "E" and probably would not have made it to the next gas station. Oh... and it was expensive as hell... which I expected though... since it's right in the heart of Captiol Hill
I have been here a few times to fix both my civic and my girlfriend's forrester. Their service is amazing. They're probably the most honest mechanics I have come across. I had what was essentially a "stump the chumps" problem with my car. I had originally paid $800 to some mechanic in Jersey to fix. They made a temporary fix and the issue came back much worse. Woody and his team took a few weeks to figure out what the problem was, but once they did they fixed it instantly and for half the price.
Took my Volvo s60 t6 car to this location 7-17-21. To be told that didn’t need break pads. Woody told me that I didn’t need them. I didn’t believe him at all. Woody Kept my car for a 1 1/2 then calls me to say everything was ok. I took it To the other location at 1201 Penn Ave were the service manager put the car in the left in front of me only to show to I did need pads in the back. Woody is a lier! Beware! He will pull a gas one on you if he can. Pic were taken 7-18-21 -Mosby
No appointments as far as I can tell. Walk-ins attended to all day. No need to to a dealer. Guys here are knowledgeable about common auto problems and fix them at reasonable cost. Fuel though is expensive. This spot is a kind of crowded focal center on Capitol Hill; all kinds of customers, young staffers, rich lobbyists, tradespeople, moms with kids, older people. Very enjoyable shop. Parking available on side streets.
After driving a classic car from Michigan to DC (for the purpose of driving friends for their wedding), multiple issues came to light (jammed door, headlight issues, etc.) No shop in town was willing to work on the car. I then spoke with Jamie, who understood the emergency at hand. He stepped right in and had everything on the car fixed the same day! Very impressive!
I was the idiot who let his battery die while visiting DC, and Woody was so damn helpful. Ran out and jumped my car in five minutes and couldn't have been cooler about the fact that he was inconvenienced because I left my flashers on like a dolt. Highly recommend this place if you're unfortunate enough to have car troubles near the Navy Yard.
Literally the rudest mechanic I ever came across (the guy that’s ordering parts) . Not worth it at all! I wanted my tire fixed and he told me it’ll take till the next day like why? I called in a head of time told him the make and model he agreed then when u got there he said he didn’t have the tires. Very ghettoh but really not worth it
The folks who work here could not be anymore kind and helpful when an unexpected flat tire popped up. They graciously offered me air and when it was determined the tire needed to be changed, they were quick to help in getting the tire fixed and putting me back on the road. I highly recommend this station for their quality service!
Great quality fuel but some of the highest prices in town. Perhaps taking advantage of all the rich representatives and Congress people. Can't blame exxon owner there .....these slime balls make way too much and have the best heathcare in the world while they destroy OURS. WE need to pay Congress and Senate Representatives less.
Sky rocket gas prices....I couldn't believe their gas prices was at least $1 more per gallon than the other local gas stations. Had I known there was more gas stations nearby, I would've gone there instead. To be fair, they pump the gas for you. My price per gallon was $3.89. It was also posted on their pricing billboard.
Always amazing to see this place charging at least a dollar more a gallon for gas than any of the other stations just a few blocks down or in DC in general. Stop inside sometime. Photos (some autographed) of every American politician in the last forty years are hung in mismatched frames all over the walls. Only in DC.
Woody and his crew agreed to service our older car after a dealership refused (they didn't have manuals that old). The problem was quickly diagnosed and fixed at a very reasonable cost. We will be bringing all of our car service needs to Capital Hill Exxon in the future.
Political advertiments at the corner of the gas station. Very nice people at the gas station, sad they keep up the signs. Before this one there were worse ones, with curse words stood for months. One of the long standing employees sits next
I won't ever use this gas station again. The only reason I gave a 2 star is because the gentleman who pumped my gas for me was great and very helpful. The service technician who sits next to the cashier gave me a lecture about not
So expensive! In addition to the high gas prices, they wouldn't let me pump my gas myself so I wound up having to tip an employee to do it. It would be a nice service if I already wasn't paying so much for the gas!
Paid for gas and pump told me it pumped into my tank however no gas got into my car. Light skinned man tried to tell me I was lying when I came back to tell them to check pump #1 and was quite rude.
I've been taking my car to get serviced here for years---very happy with the quality and care that Woody and his team provides! Highly recommend them to everyone in the area, two thumbs up from me!
Gas prices here are over $1 more than other gas stations around . In DC gas is expensive but never seen a price difference for more than $1 if you can go somewhere else please do.
They are scamming people. 1/3 of my tank was empty they pumped 5 gallons and it didn't fill my tank which my tank size is 14.4 so it should have filled around with 4 gallon.
Very helpful friendly staff. Helped me put air in my tire which had a Presta valve and they figured out a workaround. Even interrupted pizza lunch. Bart Naylor
The best service in town. They are always very respectful, responsive and professional. This is the only has station I use in DC. They do quality work as well.
I didn’t get gas but the air was free and the elderly man helped me make sure I had enough in my tires. He was kind. Definitely coming back for free air!!
Whoa! Save yourself $1.25 /gallon by driving down to 13th and Pennsylvania Avenue SE (9 blocks) and hit the Sunoco. It’s “Avenue robbery!”
Great place! I just needed a quick tire change (had my own tire) and they changed it for me immediately and it was fairly priced.
I love this place. It's soooo hard to find a trustworthy mechanic, not to mention a competent one. They're both, and fantastic.
this gas station bugging, $5+ per gallon. Everyone just drive two blocks down and save yourself 2-3 bucks a gallon. BUGGIN.
charging over $5.50 a gallon when gas is $3.50 is ridiculous. gas stations like this in DC don't deserve to be in business.
Extremely overpriced, but then again it makes sense considering the neighborhood. Limited space to maneuver your vehicle.
The boys at Metro Motor were kind, efficient, affordable, and no BS. Definitely going back when I need a tune up!
Convenient but costly But you don't have to worry about self service Attendant even check my oil and fluids.
Not friendly manner in gas station, expensive price, very small parking area, you get gas and just run.
Gas is to high for regular $4.19 gallon . Every other gas station on Pennsylvania Ave is $3.49 gallon .
Y’all are criminals for the prices you charge for gas. Drive 2 miles north and save yourself $2/gallon
Why is gas at this station so expensive? Almost $2 more than anywhere else in the city …
Expensive and small. Hard to get in and out of... but, there's not many options in the area.
The gas station assistant gave me excellent service. I did not have to get out of the car.
High ass gas prices gas was 4 here when i went down the street it was 2.89 feel Ripped off
Accessing this small cramped gas station is frustrating. Especially if there is traffic.
Unusually expensive. And charged me a mystery fee...maybe because I used the bathroom.
Full service was slow and expensive. One guy working and he wasn't the friendliest.
I had some work done on my car there the mechanics are very good and reasonable.
Expensive! $4.18 for a gallon while everyone else is selling for almost $2 less.
Rude and disrespectful staff. Too small for anything bigger than a go-kart.
We got everything that we stopped for. Gas restroom and some snacks
Most expensive gas station in the area but better than nothing
Just stopped by to see friends and play some lottery games.
Worst gas station in DC but Jim Acosta seems to love it.
Over prices gas by more than a dollar per gal. Not cool.
+ $2 extra per gallon for someone to fill your gas.
Expensive and poor customer service for repairs.
Full service station with questionable service.
Guy helped me out with his tire pressure gage.
Amazing vibe! Very nice people for being in dc
+2 dolares mas al precio normal es exagerado!
La gasolina es súper cara no lo recomiendo
This must be the only gas station in DC
$6 for gas??? Are you guys kidding me?
Fixed my flat immediately and cheaply.
They pump your gas, but prices high.
