This is a Family Treat. My family has been coming here for years, maybe not this location, but the Famous Amos chain. The people here are amazing, customer service is off the charts. Craig, our server, super nice, very fast (that's a good thing!) And always asking if we need anything. He made sure our orders were correct. Everything here is amazing. The food was amazing. The atmosphere here is calm and peaceful. Truly a great place to eat, and relax. I wish I could give more than 5 Stars. Craig, you deserve 10 Stars. Keep up the good work! Edit: Just over 3 years later, and they are still here, and the food, service and atmosphere is phenomenal. The wait is never longer than 5-10 minutes after ordering. I wish more places were this efficient. 11/10 rating. ❤️

Experienced Racial treatment Saturday, October 7, 2023 @ 5:30 pm- A friend and I visited Famous Amos Restaurant and waited to be seated for 10 minutes without any acknowledgement from the staff. Furthermore, there was another Afro American couple that was there when we arrived that had not been seated as well. Finally, after 2 White women and a White male party came in the waitress came over and told the White party they could be seated at the table for 3 people. I advised the waitress that we were there before they came in and their party should not have been served before us. She apologized by saying she "thought we were placing a order to go". It does not matter if we were placing an order to go, both individual Afro America parties of 2 were clearly there before the White party arrived and we should have received service before them. Of course, after receiving such poor and tasteless service, we left the establishment never to return again! I hope that this is not a practice that is the norm for the Famous Amos Restaurant on 8265 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 3221 to totally ignore Afro American Customers. ALL PAYING customers" monies are GREEN and my skin color should not matter!!!!

Last Night, we got to Famous Amos around 7:30pm the waitress seated us within moments (it wasn't busy) and brought our drinks out. After a few minutes she came and took orders, around 7:45. The 3 of us who ordered a side salad got them about 15 minutes later; however, around 8:20 the lady came to ask us if we wanted any drinks to go and brought the bill, we weren't sure what was going on but got one anyways. A few minutes passed and she came back and said to just let her know when we're ready to pay and we said for what, when she asked what we meant, and we explained that we still haven't gotten our food even though we had ordered almost an hour ago and they were closing down(nothing was too difficult by the way, though overpriced at $71.20 : 2 country fried steaks with okra for sides, 2 breakfast plates, and a vegetable plate) and when they brought the food out most of it wasn't hot anymore, especially the breakfast; Overall poor experience last might.

This is a great hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The service is great. A lot of veterans eat there. The food is good. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I only had breakfast there. I have not had lunch or dinner there yet. I highly recommend trying this restaurant.

We recently moved into a new home on Normandy and pass by this location everyday and were happy to see they open daily at 6am for dine in. We had some time this morning to stop in and the whole team did not disappoint! We were seated immediately and given menus. The breakfast menu in not extensive but has all your staples for a classic southern country style breakfast. We received our food less than 10 minutes after they took it. The OJ was delicious and the French toast nice and fluffy. The prices are also incredibly affordable for the quality you receive. A great value! We will definitely be back.

Home cooked veggies. Fried chicken breast over rice with chicken gravy. All good. Very nostalgic. Remember the 1st Famous @ the corner of Arlington Rd & Atlantic Blvd in 1970. Only 2 now. I went to the Normandy location

Let me set the scene: It's 2 o'clock on a Thursday. Hardly anyone's in. Waitress tells me to sit anywhere so I sit. And then I wait and wait and wait. Ten minutes later I have not been acknowledged in any way. She has not only not taken my drink order, she hasn't even given me a menu. The people at the table across from me, who were here before me, have also not been served past the coffee they had when I walked in. I closed my book, grabbed my bag, and left without a word. I can't speak for the food, but if it's anything like the service it's not worth the time.

I want to start by saying we normally like FA but this trip was awful! It was busy but the food that was sent out was disgusting and it took almost an hour to come out. My wife and I both ordered a omelette and they put one piece of sliced cheese broke into 3 on top of the omelette almost like it was a after thought and it was not melted. The veggies inside were raw and the meat over cooked. My grits had slice cheese on top and and were runny. My wife’s hash browns were not even cooked. Like eating raw wet shredded potatoes.

I've never given 1 star across the board for any place, but this place takes the cake. First off when we walked in it was really dirty. We ordered our food and it was like they didn't want to work. Not only was our food cold, but it also tasted like they put vinegar on everything which was disgusting so we just left and went somewhere else instead of eating the food.

My husband ate here as a child, every weekend. He had great memories of it. So we decided to go, it was my first time. It gave me a feeling of old, country diner. I was excited. Then we got our food. We didn't complain, the waitress was new, and very sweet. But it wasn't good. Especially for what we paid. I did enjoy their ranch dressing though, so there's that.

First they sat us at a dirty table. Then refused to exchange a veg on a special. It came with Cole slaw and I wanted sliced cucumbers instead. They said no! I said ok. I will a kids meal then since I had a gastric bypass with a card for proof. They still refused! The server was rude! He was the only male server there. I have been there many times without this kind of prob. But I will not go back. And I would advise others not to waste their time.

My husband and I went there last night around 6:00. We sat in a booth for 20 minutes no one came to us to see if we had been waited on. The waitress walked by us several times and said nothing. The morning shift is great. We never have to wait to be acknowledged at the morning shift. We got up and walked out after 20 minutes and ate somewhere else.

This was our first time here and we will definitely go back. Our server Vicky was great. We ordered onion rings and they came out fast and were wonderful. It was okay. The waitress was very forgetful, but she was nice. She kept refilling our drinks without us having to tell her which was refreshing. The food wasn't anything special. Don't get the french toast. The ham was really salty and the grits didnt have any type of seasoning. The wait wasnt that long. The portions are pretty big and it's really affordable.

My first visit here. It was a nice experience. They were welcoming and clean. They have a great menu with all day breakfast. My husband had breakfast . He said the pancakes are awesome. I waited for nearly 45 min. I was told 3 times I was up next. The food arrived, my eggs weren’t cooked as requested (white cooked) nasty slim, pancakes had no taste other than flour, yuk, the hash browns weren’t crispy. The entire experience was blah . Very disappointed. …

I cannot say that the place is dirty. It's just not clean. I went there for breakfast. Small town not that many options. They just did not have any mark. The eggs were greasy. The pancake / it was sweet for some reason. And the coffee was not a hot. Just not a good breakfast.

As long as you don't order anything with gravy the food is good. For some reason they just can't get their gravy where it needs to be but the burgers are awesome!

Heard multiple people I work with talking about this place so I had to give it a try. Once I walked in I was greated by a friendly waitress who showed me and my son to our seat and took our drink order. She then helped with the menu and

Food was good, simple diner/southern home cooking staples. Biscuits were very good as was their sausage gravy, definitely not out of a can/powder mixture.

Simple home style fare. Absolutely love that breakfast options are available all day. You have to try their Chicken Chef Salad . You can add additional boiled eggs or other items. Delicious! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

This place is really great. I was surprised. Everything is fresh, service is prompt and super friendly, and prices are reasonable. Plus it reminds me of old school Jax.

Service was slow, staff refused to acknowledge allergies, there is a rule against sharing entrees, food was alright. If you want southern cooking go to cracker barrel. You will get better service with about the same price.

Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Service was very good the waitress was attentive despite working many tables by herself. So happy at least two of these locations are still open.

Way over priced $40 lunch for 2 people is a bit much.

Food was amazing! Especially the biscuits. Doreen is the best server ever! Always takes such good care of us. Even if you have to wait to be in her section, it's worth the wait.

The food was delicious bit those beans were the star of the show. The interior is run down but don't let that discourage you as the food is like home cooking.
