Lovely library, lots of books and other library related things. So if you're in footscray and you want to find something library specific then this is the place to be. All the cool kids hang out here too so you could become cool by association. Not saying you aren't cool, but you'll definitely feel cooler. I'd like to spend more time here personally but I don't get enough of it. But when I do, I really enjoy myself. The staff here are lovely and extremely helpful presuming you don't act like a fool and go in there asking them if this is the iPhone store, can you fix my charging port, etc. I'm pretty sure that's never happened but you never know. And I absolutely wouldn't want to be the first one to find out what happens. I'd probably get the cane or something. Such interesting places, library's are. You can learn as much as you'd like. Or you could use your iPhone to google everything. But you can't. Because the charging port won't work. Too bad Freddy

decent library however sometimes, the librarians are ironically one of the loudest people to walk this earth which is really annoying. Manga selection is also not that good, needs a wider selection especially for one piece (THE ONE PIECE IS REAL) and hunter x hunter. Also one time a librarian chased me and my friend out when we were already exiting which was a frightening experience. And there are some individuals who stink up the place when they walk past and make extermely bizarre noises. Overall an okay library but needs improving, especially with noise control.

I love libraries and this place is no exception. The staff are absolutely fabulous and helpful. The facilities are pretty good although some of the newer libraries are more spacious. Good selection of books. The atmosphere is nice with a courtyard to relax with an outdoor chess set as well. A nice group of people to play chess with. Welcoming and I recommend visiting to meet the diversity of your community and enjoy the benefits of reading and knowledge. All the very best to all and a big thank you to the staff

This is one of my favorite places when I was in Melbourne. Membership is free, just need to bring proof of your address, and if you're under 18 they need your parent or guardian's signature. The genres of books are very diverse. Since we were able to borrow up to 70 items for three weeks, I borrowed and read a lot of books here. This is a nice place to study and relax with a computer system and free wifi for anyone who needs it. The library has programs and events that promote learning for people of all ages.

Has a capacity of 2 people upon reopening, a library that in the pre covid world would have easily had 50 or more at a time. Sounds like council needs to advocate for the real needs of the community, the right to literacy, the right to education etc, rather than a forever fear of covid. Not saying that there couldn't be reasonable precautions, however restricting the public access to knowledge, to community, various literacy programs (financial, English, computer) etc is unhealthy in the long run.

Great staff, nice library, lots of activities available very multi cultural. BUT, your computers have so much lag and are so old its quite astounding that this is not your priority. Plus, can you please water all the plants in your outside court area. Those succulents are looking mighty thirsty. Its sad. The rain doesn't get to them. Fix your computers, water the plants and id give a 5 star rating.

Given restrictions have eased for quite a while now yet the library branches within this council remain closed on Sunday’s. Can you please update the community as to why you remain closed whilst other municipalities’ libraries have opened and provided services on weekends? Maribyrnong council is amongst the highest rates yet services are limited! Please update when you plan to re-open on Sunday’s again?

Nice desks and good wifi for people to come and do their studies or work or just watch endless dribble on their phones and laptops, keeping out of the winter cold. The library is haven for all sorts of characters from the Footscray community. I was able to accomplish a lot of work here. My only observation is that there is not a lot of literature books. But maybe dont have much demand.

Excellent venue to read a book or spend some time browsing the net or even play a game of chess. Not much technologically advanced library when compared with other councils. Well maintained premises and the staff are very helpful. On numerous occasions I have thought that a presence of Security gaurd on the premises is essential. Facilities are inadequate for large number of people.

The internet is reliably SLOW, to the point that it is unusable and it is always loud with kids screaming around (no exaggeration). It gets a positive 2 stars because it has a knitting chair and the librarians are helpful. Don't go if you want to study or require the internet for research.

It was my second time seeing Michael who works As a council customer service representative Michael is amazing and very knowledgeable and experienced in how to handle the customer concerns He guided my family through the steps of the process and put too much effort He is one of the best

  • Inder Kalra

Very friendly staff. Printing service available. Wifi is free. Ample space to sit and study. Life size Big chess board. I am sure they have small board games too. Of course there are plenty of books as well, specially in many non-English languages which are hard to find otherwise.

Great, only problem is 2 hours parking, there is a time monitor on the pole, as a disable student, 2 hours aren't enough when you need to do the assignments, assignments take long time to do, library is great, friendly staff, but council limited hours spoil the stars given

Bianca is an excellent children's librarian - she's passionate and has excellent recommendations. I've also found the other staff really kind and helpful. Thank you for providing such an excellent resource for the community - great to see my council rates at work …

Still one hour only allowed on computer? And, need to queue again, to get more time? Not fair at all. I lost 30 minute work a couple of time due to this time intrruption. Sunshine library 2 hour with out interruption . Footscray library, Change/ reform required now!!!

  • Shakuntala Kona

Sooo happy that the library is finally open again. Appreciated all the friendly staff especially during lockdown. They've done a great job! Just waiting for Baby Rhyme Time and Story Time to be back ❤️ Footscray is my favorite among all branches ❤️

What I love the most is the garden in the middle of the library, where you can rest your eyes while reading. Study booths give you enough space and privacy. And many more books on the shelves for you to browse compare to other libraries.

  • Laura Bell

Very friendly staff, a big open space, some good carrel desks located away from noise, cute fun areas for kids. A very good balance of study/reading areas and kid/activity spaces. Some absolutely wonderful displays too!

  • gjcc73

Good library. Membership also gives you access to a digital library with emags, newspapers around the word, audio books and ebooks. Offers of other free stuff like Thai chi just tops it off. Good assortment of books.

  • Em McDermott

Helpful staff and a good range of books, magazines, audio books and dvds. I really love that they’re now linked with Kanopy which is a streaming service. I’ve seen some excellent movies thanks to this link.

  • Osman Ali

Bring an ID card where your address is available to get a membership card. It's free. You need also a reference person. He might be an member of the library or he should have a driving license.

  • T X

Great staff, friendly environment. Lots of great community programs available. Not getting a 5/5 due to one particular member of the public who frequently touches himself in the quiet area.

  • Kim Sung Jie

Great place to hang out with the family and kids. There's something for everybody. It's well maintained, modern and nice. Good selection of books, DVDs, magazines, etc.

  • Heather Blyth

Favourite library! I've moved a few suburbs over but come back to this one. Has an excellent sci fi and fantasy section. The little courtyard is lovely to sit in too.

  • N M

  • Brock Lewis

I don't go to this library much because I don't live in the area, but I spose it's good because it's a nice quiet place to relax and maybe sleep a little bit.

  • Sally Thompson

Footscray Library is my happy place. Its always full of people doing happy constructive things: reading, researching, knitting, playing in the courtyard.

  • Anik Ahmed

Helpful staff, but the collection is minimal. The internet works, but those computers need to be upgraded.

  • Drogo Bjorn

Depressingly old and laggy computers that probably couldn't run minesweeper without crashing. Poor form.
