This is one of my favorite places! It's fun to take walks since the terrain is Hilly but it has trails you can hike or run on. This park has two great playgrounds in different sections one is catered to younger kids while the other has a childrens play area for the younger ones but caters to older kids who prefer to climb higher and includes more challenging play spaces which consists of Gorgeous Bird carvings and a Water Play Area as well. It is also filled with beautiful and Shady trees which provide perfect areas for picnics or relaxation. It has the Prison Ship Martyrs Memorial Monument there that has a great area around it where people practice martial arts and skateboard stunts. If you're a gamer also fun spot for Pokemon Go with scattered poke stops throughout the park. I enjoy this park because it's in the middle of busy downtown Brooklyn but it feels like an escape to Nature even if it's only for a little while to breathe fresh air and unwind. I like it because people of all ages can come here and there's something they'll want to do and also on Saturday Mornings the Farmers Market is just on the side street by Dekalb and S. Oxford Ave :)

The park I love. I come here daily to walk around. Beautiful park. Sometimes I wish people who visit to use the park with more love and care but the park staffs are doing their best to keep the park clean and beautiful. Maintenance is getting better and better every year. Family friendly. Two playgrounds, one for toddlers and one for more older kids. Street parking can be very challenging. My favorite thing to do here is during the late summer near the end of the sunset, watching the orchestra of light performed by the fireflies which is just stunning to see.

This Hidden Gem in Brooklyn will not disappoint. Besides having a really nice tennis court picnic area dozens of benches it has acute Visitor Center that tells the fascinating story of the park and the bodies that are buried there from the Revolutionary war. I will not spoil it so you can learn about it for yourself. In the visitor center you can also see different species of animals and even hold them it's open till 6:00 every day and they have very clean public bathrooms there and water.

Lovely topography in the typically flat streets of Brooklyn and New York. Aside from its appeal as a site of eighteenth century history, it’s just a great green space for walking dogs, throwing balls, talking to friends, and looking up at the reaching thin branches of tall trees. Strategically placed within easy paces of shops and nosh. Interesting and evolving view of downtown Brooklyn. Well maintained.

The best park to walk around on the weekend with friends, or to take a lunch break during the week. I’ve also done a few picnics here and listen to live music over the years. It’s a great ambiance, especially when compared to Prospect Park which is a lot bigger than Fort Green -making this park it easier to get to. Not to mention the great food all around the park.

One of the best parks in Brooklyn. 2 playgrounds in the SE & NW corners, tennis, basketball and bathrooms. Plus the monument. Reseeding on the SE lawns Lots of space for dogs to run and play. The hills are steep and some of the paths aren't well paved. Over 11,500 men and women that died in the Revolutionary War are buried in the crypt underneath this monument.

BROOKLYN LADIES WHO WALKABOUT: I love my neighborhood...I get to walk this amazing historical park almost everyday to get my steps in. It's a very people, kid and dog friendly park. In the summer it has amazing gatherings and free concerts. They also have tennis courts...The landscapers are making it more astetically pleasing for strolling and hanging out.

Beautiful park just a few minutes from Atlantic terminal, great place to spend a morning, particularly if you’re a dog lover! Hit the park before 9a for dog heaven! All the dogs are allowed off leash and roam free through the park. There are also great tennis courts here and some Brooklyn history you can learn about at the big obelisk in the center.

Tons of interesting trees surround Fort Greene Park and offer a very different environment based on which you choose to sit under. The south side of the park along DeKalb has good shade around the meadow but open grass (and some exposed dirt patches) great for lawn games, frisbee and playing with the dogs spending their day in the park.

  • Paul

A nice place to hang out and escape the busy neighborhood. The monument is an outstanding piece of work and very impressive. The park was very clean and felt safe during the afternoon.
Restrooms
Restrooms are available in the museum behind the monument.
Dog-friendliness
Lots of dogs about but they must stay on the leash.

Ft. Greene Park, is a memorable place for me. Full of culture and history. Whether you hang out by the monument, or in the Ginko pasture(watch your step in the spring, Ginko nuts have a STRONG odor.), or by the tennis courts or the basketball courts. There is seemingly something for everyone here in this little slice of Brooklyn.

The park was a testament to New York City’s melting pot reputation. Imagine an endless stream of style, color, and culture as you sit on one of the park benches or lawn areas. The energy, vibrant culture, and history of this park is unmatched compared to the other city parks that I’ve visited throughout the East Coast.

Good place to go for a jog. Even has a mud trial for jogging. Has lot of open space to do cross fit workouts. Great place for dogs. Even has 4 tennis courts. Farmers market open right beside fort greene on Sunday mornings. Has 2 big kids playground sections. Great place for kids to do some snow sledging during winter.

  • Becky Stern

Feels like a much bigger park than it is because of the varied terrain and extensive landscaping. The mulch Xmas trees in the winter which makes everything smell amazing. I've been coming here for years of picnics, dog walks, and farmers market shopping. Unique views from the top! Love this park!

  • Archie Oman Egbert

I love this park! It's hard to park around here as it is in the middle of a neighborhood, but there is so much space once you are inside. They have a couple of playgrounds for the kids. Beautiful sculptures at different entrances, and a war memorial make this park different from the rest.

  • Kirk O. Warner

Attended a Spike Lee event here last week and totally enjoyed myself in the park. Grassy areas are nicely manicured . This park is great for families, so bring your blanket and have a picnic. Be sure to clean up after yourself. There is lots to do here, so follow the events calendar.

  • T Wilkins

Its been my hood for years even after moving to another nearby area. The history, the people, the space, the events, the bbqs and celebrations there, this is why so many things usually take place there. Or just spread out a blanket and chill. To me, its better than the bigger parks.

  • Googlicious Bytes

My son surprised me with a Brooklyn NYC Prince/MJ DJ'd FREE concert Hosted by Spike Lee...What a Gr8 gift ❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU Spike Lee from Naptown, Indianapolis, IN You Rocked Our & I Adore You …

Great park! If you're a tree lover you will love this park you can catch a good read on one of the many dedicated benches or take a nice run or walk With or without a doggy pal. Fort greene park also offers two playgrounds which my babies truly love!

  • Christopher Dawes

A great park with many great activities, such as the outdoor screening of “Marcel the Shell” by Rooftop Films. As with everything in New York City, could be a bit cleaner, could be a bit better maintained, but that’s the bustle and grime of New York.

  • J. Deacon O'Connor

Great park with no ok people. Be prepared to deal woth a lot of people with their dogs OFF of leashes and tons of strollers. There's rarely a quiet moment at the park on weekends with kids musicians and stereos. Much better experience on weekdays!

  • Michael Wang

Family and dog friendly park right by downtown Brooklyn. Everything is well maintained with free activities all summer long. Off-leash doggie hours before and after 9am/9pm. This park is swarm with doggies in the morning especially on the

Amazing culture and historical park. A trees shade, nice paths well taken care of. Great time for the relaxing or the sports. Tennis and two playgrounds . Tiny zoo place inside a stone building near the tall column. Sloping hills and art …

  • Neva Watson

Spike Lee was great! However, the crowd was using the grass for pretty much a picnic ground which was totally inappropriate for dancing, and walking, at best. Was not as upbeat as expected for Prince and Michael Jackson DANCING throwback.

This 30.2 acre park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, is one of the precious gems in Fort Greene precious. It's a hill with paved lanes for walkers, dirt lanes for runners, small sections of forests for those who miss

Relatively safe park. Just don't stay in after 10PM. Neighborhood families congragate and enjoy the beautiful trees and well put together architectural design. Few tables for picnic but many were sitting on the floor, with their own

  • Caridad Robles

First time there. I like the greenery, but it seemed hard to find a bench to sit. It was dusty and the wind would blow the dust around making it uncomfortable for seeing and breathing. Otherwise, it has a beautiful landscape.

Nice park for a walk with some uphill hiking. There’s plenty of lawn space and benches. The problem is it smells very badly of dog poop and pee everywhere that it’s hard to enjoy a walk or a seat on a bench.

  • Phil Douglas

Lovely walks and plenty of space to throw down a blanket and relax. Dog on leash areas are available. There is also a good supply of park benches for those who may find the ground a bit far down these days.

  • P M

Nice getaway from the rush. If you are working at Metrotech, its a pleasant lunch time walk. There are plenty of tennis courts and enough place for joggers. In fact you can find a spot to sit and meditate.
