Brought giant e-bikes in for a basic service, then $1300 later my jaw dropped to the floor!!! I recently purchased a Giant TCR Advanced SL0 from the guys at Ashgrove Cycles. I can't sing their praises enough. I can be a little fussy and pedantic when it comes to choosing my race machine, but the guys helped me all the way through the process and were very patient and accommodating and their product knowledge was spot-on. I'd done my homework, and they reinforced my opinion and confidence in the product, which is really important to me in the purchase process. If I don't feel the guy in the shop has my level of enthusiasm for the bike, then I kind of lose it too. I used to be into Italian exotica such as Campagnolo with Carrera, Wilier and Pinarello frames. But, I had lots of frustrating trouble with them, and I even cracked the Carrera! Which wouldn't have been an issue if my LBS had looked after me and replaced it...but they didn't for 3 months! So now I'm a GIANT & SHIMANO DI2 CONVERT! Now I've tried both, I'll never go back. Italian = All show, no go. Giant are a massive bike company and invest in Research and Development and their TCR is the best handling bike on the market IMO and if you believe the reviews and although I haven't ridden it (yet) the Propel is easily the most aero. I think smaller bike companies are lacking in this regard and I guess it's only logical that they do given they just don't make the sales that Giant does and therefore don't have a budget for it. Most importantly in the whole TRUST in equipment is your relationship with your Local Bike Shop.. Ashgrove Cycles is probably one of the biggest Giant dealers in Oz and I've been assured that if I have any issue then they'll sort it pronto. Can't beat that!
I had my Giant Anthem MTB serviced by Giant Ashgrove on 30NOV19. Since the service, the bike has been ridden as a commuter to/from work for a few weeks and once on single track. Post service issues so far: 1. Rear wheel 12mm axle was loctited in. Major issue when I got a flat out on a ride. Bent my allen key tool and wasn't sure if I'd damage the axle. Luckily the axle evventually released. Loctite appears to be mid strength. 2. The chain has skipped off the cassette's small cog three times and jammed between the cassette and frame. Paint removed and framed scratched. 3. The bike developed a rattle. Found the cassette lock ring loose. Rattling was the cassette on the free hub. 4. I took the bike to Ashgrove because it had a creak in the rear and Ashgrove are a Giant dealer. I figured a Giant shop would know the typical creak spots. After two months the creak returned. My son and I spent fifteen minutes testing and found the creak; the seatpost or seat clamp. Cleaned the post and clamp, regreased and the creak is gone. I'm glad I didn't get Ashgrove to service my brakes, . Otherwise I'd now be concerned about the brakes developing an issue. I often do my own servicing. If I pay for a service I expect the outcome to be at least as good as I can do.
I've been going to this store for occasional parts and servicing for a number of years and have always received excellent service, so it was the obvious place to go when both my wife and I recently looked to replace our ageing bikes. My new bike quickly developed brake issues, which was initially put down to contaminated pads and after cleaning them up, I was sent on my way with instructions to return if the issues came back. Within a few kilometres, it was clear there was something more serious going on, and upon returning to the store, they acted very quickly and professionally to get the faulty parts replaced. The store manager, Gavin, personally went above and beyond to make sure everything was sorted to my satisfaction. This store actually cares about their customers and about providing first class, knowledgeable service and I can't recommend them highly enough. If more businesses took the approach that Ashgrove Cycles does, they might win back some of the sales that are being lost to online retailers.
Amazing Service both pre and post purchase: After looking around several shops for a particular model of Giant, I decided to purchase the bike from Ashgrove and am I glad that I did. Gavin was so patient and helpful with me leading up to the purchase taking several calls and responding to all my queries (ensuring that I made the right purchase decision). On the day of pickup, Gavin and Darren spent a good amount of time with me to ensure the bike was fully setup and my body position was comfortable. I didn't feel like it was rushed at all, their advice and attention to detail was second to none. Recently I had my follow up 6 week service and although I was originally advised it would take 24 to 48 hours, at my request, the team managed to turn around the bike on the same day, allowing me to return to the Gold Coast and use the bike the following day! I cannot recommend this store enough. The prices are spot on and the team are all so customer-centric, making every visit an absolute joy!
Nice staff, but the whole point of there store is to seperate you from your money, and to keep on doing it! Brought giant e-bikes in for a basic service, then $1300 later my jaw dropped to the floor!!! They didn’t call or txt or email and say the issues will be quite expensive and to see if i wanted to go ahead! Coincidently both bikes needed new drive trains and cogs even though one had only been ridden under 800 k’s….. then got the bikes back only to find the 1 issue we actually brought them in for had not been fixed…. Bring that bike back in and quoted $165 to fix a speed sensor on a bike thats been ridden less than 800k’s…..seriously! I feel taken advantage of which is sad as they seem nice people! The whole bike industry feels designed to part u with your hard earned, and this just feels wrong!
Arrived to buy a bike that we were told was in stock, the one they did have in stock assembled had a massive chunk of paint missing so it was discounted a bit, when we said we are not buying a damaged bike we were told a sticker would cover it. Asking if they had anymore in stock they said yes, we will schedule a day to assemble it, when I said we will take it in a box they wouldn't sell it to us like that. They then said they need an hour and a half to assemble it....a bmx really if you can't get that together in 15 mins there is something wrong. We walked away and found one cheaper at a non Giant dealer for $60 less.
Fantastic local bike shop. There is a reason this shop has been around for a long time. Good customer service with a smile and competitive pricing. I've just recently picked up a new Giant Propel and despite a long wait due to global supply shortages, Gav and the team kept me up to date and was upfront with potential delays. The day it arrived it was promptly built up with a phone call to say it was ready. Giant Ashgrove (formerly Ashgrove Cycles) has continued to give back to the community in supporting the sport locally. Keep up the good work, see you soon.
I build the highest quality bespoke wheels with the world"s best DT Swiss spoke combination for drive stiffness with maximum durability and ride comfort. My DT spoke orders are always unique and specific to my customers needs. Giant Ashgrove are the only bike shop in Brisbane who would source my spoke order for several recent wheel builds. No one else could be bothered. Congratulations to the manager and his team for spending the time to service old school bike guys like myself. This store remains a great bike shop who helps their customers. Great job.
Poor service experience. I rang the workshop twice about booking my bike in for a gear adjustment. When delivering my bike the man behind the counter seemed to take pleasure in picking faults with my bike and refused to do the gear adjustment unless I had a more comprehensive service that would cost at least twice as much as the gear adjustment. He didnt even have the courtesy to consult the people in the workshop that I spoke to earlier in the day. Maybe my bike wasn't up to his standards... just what us cyclists need.. another elitist bike shop!
The team at Giant Ashgrove are great! excellent customer service, excellent bike knowledge. I purchased a new Giant bike at the end of December 2022, they were great to deal with from starting with my initial phone call right through to purchase and aftersales support, I have had the bike back for its 1st service and again they were great, very accommodating of my needs due to travelling interstate, and I needed everything done in a short time frame. I highly recommend Giant Ashgrove QLD!
these guys are awesome! I'm new to mtb and I hadn't ridden a bike in 14 years. these guys recommended thw perfect bike for me and iv been loving it! straight out of the shop, it was everything I wanted. the guys were so helpful. It was a bit of a pain getting it before Christmas but that's just how shipping is these days. went to pick it up and everything was built and right there ready to go. I'm so excited to see where my new hobby takes me. thanks again Giant Ashgrove.
Just bought a new EMTB off these guys. 2nd bike I've bought off them. Helpful tips, genuine friendly guys, great service, fair prices. Best part was I didnt feel like I wasnt cool enough or in-the-scene-enough to be a customer unlike other inner city Bris bike shops dominated by the lycra set... I'm a these days desk bound once a week only 53yo off road cyclist, (but been at it since I was 12). If that's you these are your guys
Can't speak highly enough of the chaps at the Ashgrove store. Had a troublesome Anthem I bought second hand and the team brought it back to life. Nothing was an issue. Special thanks to Gavin for his exception customer service but also to the guys in the workshop. When your pride and joy is about to die these guys have the positive, can do attitude to bring it back to life. Well done and many thanks.
on Thursday i took my new e-MTB in to have the brakes adjusted. Went for a ride on Saturday and noticed a slight vibration when braking. Did not think much about it as brakes sometimes vibrate when wet. Cleaned bike on Sunday and did a general check and found the screws on the rear brake calipers were completely lose! Obviously forgotten to tighten up when Ashgrove Cycles adjusted the brakes!!!
I purchased some items from Ashgrove Cycles and due to my own negligence I broke the frame on my Oakley Glasses I had purchased, Gav went above and beyond and well out of his way to try for a replacement frame for me and succeeded. I was willing and expecting to simply buy a new frame but Oakley offered a full warranty replacement due to the depth the guys went to for me.. Thank you..
I can highly recommend this locally owned shop. The owner Gavin and his team are very knowledgeable, provide excellent service on all bike brands and carry a great range of accessories. I have purchased 5 Giant bikes from Giant Cycles Ashgrove. The after service and support is second to none. A great team in a great family owned business. Thanks guys. Colin
Phenomenal service. Came in simply to replace my reflectors, recently getting back into riding. Guys at Giant simply replaced the broken pieces, not charging for whole new set, swapped them over for me quick as you like. Also noticed my seat was skew-wiff, pulled out a few tools, fixed it up, no charge. Left with a smile, knowing where to come next.
Best Giant shop in Brisbane hands down! Bought a new bike, travelled overseas and had an issue with it. Contacted them and they worked in collaboration with giant europe to provide me with a replacement in no time so that i could keep riding. Genuinely don't know how i would have done without their help, 100% recommended. Thank you guys!
Recently bought a Fathom EMTB from these guys and they looked after me pretty well. Very knowledgeable and courteous staff. Big props to Darren who gave me a thorough rundown of the bike and to the other guy (can’t remember his name - sorry mate) who greeted me and knew exactly what I was after. Good job Giant Ashgrove!
Called past today to pick up a bike box ( cardboard box ) they wanted to charge me for it, I couldn’t believe they would charge for something that was going to go in the bin. I have shopped here previously and sent mates here to buy MTBs but they have lost me forever. Disgusted a shop would even try this. Shame on you.
Excellent service and even better staff. I took my bike in for a service and it came back quickly and beautifully. They fit me to the new dropper post that had been installed and took the time to run me through what they had done to fix the original issue that required service. I can't recommend these guys enough!
As usual, Giant Ashgrove had exactly what I needed, in this case a conversion bar so I could hang my wife's bike on the new bike rack I'd bought last week. On both occasions I was serviced professionally, last week by Bede and today by D'arcy. I've been a regular customer for many years and expect to continue.
We have bought a couple bikes from Giant Ashgrove over the years and have always appreciated the advice provided before making a selection. The after service has always been good. Gavin, Darren and all their young staff are friendly, courteous and professional. We enjoy supporting our local bike shop!
Team at Ashgrove Cycles are always helpful and are great to talk to. Plenty of knowledge between Gavin, Kieran and the rest of the team. No job is too big or too small to ensure the customer is looked after. Not to mention they have plenty of parts on hard when I break things. Well done and Cheers
Great customer focused service and advice from Gavin and the team! Walked out of there with a new 2022 Giant Defy Advanced 1 and a bunch of the bike stuff I didn't know I needed. Feeling thankful today after my first ride on my new rig with my new bike gear. Thanks guys! Will definitely be back.
Good bike shop friendly staff, was stocked with how quick the turn around was, happy with the service, Little disappointed that the guys did work on my bike I didn’t agree to after saying they would call if anything extra was needed. Not sure I would use again.
First class service! I went in looking for a specific pair of shoes. They had what I was after, no pressure to upsell and I got them at a great price. I've bought my past two bikes from Gavin, Ravi and the rest of the crew there and I'll definitely be back.
I mostly buy odd parts from these guys for my old road bikes, though I have taken my bikes in for repairs when the problem was beyond my skill set. Great service all these years and a fine local independent business that I'm all too happy to support
Brought a bike off the guys had it for a month and been back to the shop twice in that month with the same problem and they tried to blame us instead of them being incompetent. I have had bikes for 5 years now and never had some many problems
Been shopping with there team at Giant Ashgrove for over 5 Years. Workshop team is always helpful and full of knowledge. Shop stocks plenty of quality gear and if not In store happy to order in, always happy to negotiate a price.
Very pleasant experience with Giant Ashgrove. Worked on deals that made everyone happy. Customer service top notch and outstanding work from the team delivering my bike all geared up. A shop I'll go again and happy to recommand.
Great service when I visited this afternoon. Young Max got me started (solid upsell, well played) and then Darren and the rest of the team finished up. Very happy with my new bike and highly recommend visiting the team here.
Have purchased 3 bikes this year from Ashgrove Giant and I am constantly impressed with the value and after sales service. Would highly recommend as their prices are often on par or better than 99 or other online sources.
I have used Giant Ashgrove for a number of years because they are knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Mechanic tested an Aldi front brake today free. I bought a replacement caliper and fitted it myself. Very helpful.
Great experience. Travelled a significant distance to purchase my new bike from Giant Ashgrove and was on a tight schedule. Rory had everything prepared and was very knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely recommended.
Twice visited; Twice ignored when I was keen to buy new bike. Shame as it gets good reviews and was a nice tidy store. I ended up buying from Giant/Ride Indooroopilly. (Coffee next door at Macho was fantastic....)
Great service from every staff menber. Totally recommend this place. They excel at customer service and communications were always clear and timely. They do what they say they are going to do without any problems!
great bunch of blokes, they have solved all my bicycle problems, small shop but big range of parts and bikes worth a look, it is more than a shop that sells bikes, great service and knowledge, highly recommend
Very high level of service and knowlegeable helpful staff. Great range of bikes and accessories. Staff willing to assist with any enquiries or questions. You are made to feel like a person and not a number.
Needed help with a dropper post not working a day before a race and Darren and the service team helped immediately and guided me through fixing it myself with a parts from the shop. Excellent service.
The boys from Giant Ashgrove are always hooking me up with crazy deals, cheaper than all the online stores. Great service, great quality and great products, you can trust the guys at Giant Ashgrove
Twice I have taken my Giant Trinity in for a service and both times it was returned with scratches. The most notable one a big chip on the top tube through to the carbon, don't recommend them.
Very happy with our experience here. They have a huge range of bikes and accessories. I was impressed by the young bloke who served me and my daughter to get her first mountain bike.
Excellent customer service. Owner is extremely diligent with getting prompt service to anyone that comes in. It is obvious he has high expectations of his staff. Always very helpful.
Very happy with my bike purchase. Bought a Giant Fathom great bike. Great service in store, very helpful staff and good after sales support. Would recommended others to this store.
Gavin, Darren and the guys have kept my old iron horses on the road for many years so I was delighted to bring my business for a new giant to them. Such a great local service....
Great guys and good service!!. I had an issue with a product I'd purchase from there and they went the extra mile to have it replaced under warranty asap for me. Happy customer!!
Went to Giant Ashgrove to get a couple of things foe my bike The man behind t by w counter was very helpful and I got exactly what I wanted Very good service and would go back
Gav is an absolute beaut. The crew are genuine, honest and aren't afraid of throwing offers at me whenever I pop in. Highly recommend this store and love their product
They tried to sell me a bike one size too small. I asked for a small and they tried me on a extra small and they didn't even tell me, then they tried to sell it to me.
Awesome service and great bunch of people. Are always happy to assist at short notice with my last minute bike repairs when heading away on trips. Highly recommended
Great bike shop. Darren the mechanical maestro refurbished my bike to a better than new standard, using only quality parts. Gavin always has expert advice to give.
A Great bunch of guys who always go above and beyond. They have once again helped me out when was in a pickle and I couldn't be more greatful. Many thanks, James
Long standing business serving bike enthusiasts locally. Always plenty of new and second hand stock. First releases on next years stock and great run out sales
I find the guys here really professional and helpful. I always seem to throw last minute emergencies at them and they always do their best to sort me out.
Love this place. The service is top notch and the range of things is great but you have to bring lots of money because things there aren’t exactly cheap.
This awesome shop presents you with a level of service higher then what you expect. Gavin and his crew go above and beyond to provide superb service!
Great service and knowledge from the team at Giant Ashgrove. Give my Giant Trinity and new cassette and tune up and it’s running better than ever!
Great range of bikes and accessories. Helpful friendly staff that aren't pushy or patronising. Keen pricing. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Giant bikes are awesome. I love my Talon E. The guys at Giant Ashgrove are great when it comes to sales and after sales service and advice.
We always get good service from Ashgrove Cycles. Best place for a service or repair in Brisbane. Reasonably Priced and fast turnaround.
Absolutely brilliant! Dropped off my old bike for some service and now feels like a brand new bike. Couldn't be happier. Thanks heaps.
Friendly people and fast service. Bicycle was only means of transport at the time and they repaired it in less than an hour.
Good customer service. Bought a new bike recently and they did a good deal. Will be going back to them for future servicing.
Very helpful staff that also sold me the correct tools to do a maintenance job myself. Found my new bike shop. Awesome.
Professional, and made sure I got what was needed without pushing. Well stocked shop. Happy customer. Thanks Gavin.
The bike is great but the service felt rushed and they forgot to include something I purchased on the bike.
Thanks for building my latest bike, great workmanship, service and excellent value for for money.
Giant ashgrove is a bunch great guys. Thanks Gavin and the team for looking after me. Cheng
