First, let me say that I am happy with my and my toddler's hair cuts. And my first experience here was great, so I had decided to go again. I did go with a junior stylist this time to give them experience (and a cheaper deal didn't hurt). However, things didn't go... great. First, I had mentioned in my initial message about my hair usually taking 1.5 hours and that it can be difficult, plus I had a maternity photoshoot after (so a bit of a pressured situation) and I'd be fine going with a senior stylist and paying full price if that would be an issue. No further details were asked of me, but I did have to repeat what time I wanted the appointment. Then later, I decided to ask if they could do my toddler's hair and, if so, would just before my own appointment be doable. No answer, so I followed up. I was then told to text a number instead of asking through the FB messenger. A bit annoying having to follow up and repeat myself, but it's fine. I was not going to write a bad review for something like this. But since I have more to say, I just wanted to mention that maybe the one who handles the FB messenger could read messages a little more carefully next time. Anyway, come the day of the "cut and style" appointments, my toddler's hair cut goes great. I show the junior stylist a picture of my hair curled (pretty sure it was done by Tabby at my previous visit) and explain how I want my hair cut verbally. She said it sounded good and began. I washed my hair the day before to save the trouble of getting it wet (as I know curling is usually done dry... or so I thought). She began cutting it dry but at one point she asked if she could wet it and I told her if that will be easier, then it's fine. So she wet it (no shampoo or conditioner) and continued with the cut. When she went to start styling it, she asked again what I wanted and I replied "curly curls". Anyway, again, sounded like there were no issues. She grabbed a cylindrical brush and started using it to blow dry and curl (or so I thought) my hair. I ask her about it a bit, as some of the "curls" are not looking super curly (I did not say that about the curls, but I just asked if a curling iron might be better). I even asked if my hair was not cooperating for her. But she said it was all good. So I'm feeling a bit nervous but I decide to just trust it will work out. At some point, I can no longer see the mirror, so I'm closing my eyes and just hoping it will end well as my hair appointments usually do. I have bad anxiety so I tend to worry. But the stylist was very nice and easy to get along with, so I tried to ignore it. But then, she turned the chair to the mirror and showed me my hair. And it looked nice, for sure, but it was not curly. Just kind of wavy/curled at the bottom. I considered not saying anything because I hate conflict and I am pretty sure her next clients are staring at me. I'm pretty sure I've gone past my appointed time (which, by the way, was 1.5 hours and I thought they would schedule me for 2 since it was a junior stylist but I guess not). But I decided to be brave and clarify why it wasn't curled. She explained to me that "styling" just involves a "blow out style" which confuses me a bit because my hair wasn't even supposed to be washed (cut and style... not wash, cut, and blow dry). Apparently curling hair is considered an "updo" style and that would take more time and more money as well. So I kind of awkwardly ask if it's possible just to curl the front a bit as I have my maternity photoshoot in a few hours. I did say that it's fine if it isn't possible as the next client is waiting. But my stylist decides to do it for me and while I appreciated it, I felt very dumb, embarrassed, and rude to the next clients who looked like they were glaring at me. I burst into tears and apologize and offer to pay full price and she says it's fine. So instead I give a $40 tip for my $46 cut and "style" and walk out feeling like I'm the worst human being. Not a great experience. Not the worst, but also not the best. I think I will go elsewhere next time. :(

I do see all the positive reviews. And I’m honestly sorry to say this, but this was the worst haircut I’ve ever had in my life. I’m writing this because I wish I had been warned. I had a bad feeling as soon as I walked in, and I wish I had walked back out. The service was rushed, cold, and unprofessional. My “stylist” seemed argumentative about what I was asking her to do. And then all she did was run clippers over my whole head—no fading, no texture, no effort really. I was done in less than 10 minutes with no wash, no product offered. I think I could have done a better job on myself with a mirror and a beard trimmer. Maybe it’s an okay place to get a cheap buzz cut for your kids. But if you care about your own appearance, look elsewhere. Edit: I went directly to another hair salon (and paid full price again) to get my cut fixed, and my hair was so uneven that I ended up with a full buzz cut. I am astonished this place is in business.

I have been seeing Shannon for 6 years or more and have always had great service. I see her for foil hightlights and cuts and I've never had a bad experience! I get a ton of compliments and have referred coworkers and friends there. Price is reasonable considering the time she spends with me and frankly worth every cent when I walk out of there looking and feeling great! Everyone that works there is friendly and knowledgable. I would feel comfortable seeing anyone there for my hair. Highly recommend! Even the barber Dom is alright..I guessjust kidding he's great and his customers love him.

Absolutely love this place, my boyfriend wanted a perm and a cut….. and honestly for the first time checking this place out I was blown away by the results. Tabby did an amazing job, for a women who does mens cuts she did a better job then most barbers. She was super sweet, we even had the option of tea, coffee or water. If you’re looking for a comfy, fast, reasonable priced, and a job well done go see her!! She is definitely going to be his new hair stylist. Tabby for the win!!!!

Update: I see a response from owner on my email to contact privately. Unfortunately, there is no fixing it. I did whatever could be fixed. I should have done my research on the hairdresser before booking, I just went with the high rating on google. For the simple cut and the price, I expected professional work. Great color service, but the haircut was awful. My kiddo's beautiful hair was cut so choppy, I was fixing it for days.

This was the first time I used Hairtech 2000 to do my hair. I am also very specific on where I go because my hair is very fine and fragile. Shannon was brilliant, the colour was amazing and after my highlights were done there was no damage to my hair and I walked out happier than ever. What a great salon, I will absolutely be back, without a doubt.

I been using Hairtech 2000 for many years now. Dominique is the best, no matter my schedule Dominique is always their to accommodate me. Cost is no problem when it comes to the quality and efficiency of service Dominique and Hairtech gives. Forget about the others, give Hairtech a try you will thank me. I have been getting my hair done at Hairtech since I moved to Kanata 6 years ago and I have never been disappointed. Tabby is amazing with Color and I love how she does my hair. One of the stylists does not know how to short hair men's haircuts. My 14 year old son was left with a mushroom cut. I originally didn't plan on posting a review, instead I emailed the business letting them know and I got no response. So poor rating for one of their stylists and poor rating for the management

Just had my first visit to Hairtech 2000 in Kanata. Gail gave me a cut & blow dry & it was perfect! The best cut I’ve had in a very long time. I like how prompt and no-nonsense this place is. The hairdressers are very skilled and can execute your ideas very well. Very efficient and fast if you are looking for a quick and reasonable trip and back.

I have been going to Hairtech since the second outbreak of covid. Very accommodating staff and Gail does my highlights as I wish, not as a stylist at another salon chose to do at more than twice the cost.

Great hairdresser (thanks Tabby) and prices are reasonable. Would love to see some attention given to clients such as counters and shelving to hold our things woth maybe some purse hooks underneath.
