There is nothing happy about the food or service at this restaurant. I ordered a lemon chicken to take away got home to find the chicken had been cut into such small pieces that there was more batter and barely any chicken. The supposed lemon sauce was honey with not trace of lemon at all. I rang up to inform them that they had made a mistake with my order where I was told their lemon sauce has honey and lemongrass yet the menu clearly described it as lemon chicken not lemon grass and honey chicken. When I rang to place my order I asked them about the lemon chicken and at no point did they say it was lemongrass and honey chicken as I would not have ordered it as I'm allergic to honey. It seem obvious that the proprietors of this restaurant are trying to make maximum money from cheap poorly made food and misleading. Don't waste your time or money. DON'T EAT HERE.

Genuinely some of the best food in the area. I never went here until a few months ago, it isn't in a great location and I never really thought about it. By chance the place I normally ordered from was closed and I decided to go here, the food was authentic and delicious so I've kept coming back. Their quality is consistent, the restaurant is clean, the staff are friendly and overall the food is great. What I thought was going to be another generic Chinese food place turned out to be some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. I thought I'd leave a review as I really want them to stay in business so they can keep providing exceptional food at a great price point.

We have been here on several occasions and the friendly owners remember us each occasion. The meals are always first class hot and cooked well. Tonight I asked for the chefs best dish which he said via his interpreter was Mongolian beef which he is rightfully proud of. It arrived without any onion( I am allergic to onion) and the beef melts in your mouth it’s so tender- make sure you keep it well away from you on arrival as the dish is on a hot plate and tends to splatter. Well worth the drive from Yarra Glen. Worth a try and compare - The setting may be basic but the service and meal are A1. Thank you and your chef for an excellent meal. Regards Richard

The taste was great, ordered via Uber eats. Unfortunately it’s significantly very much more expensive than from similar restaurants. The vegetarian Honey chicken was 1/4 filled, pricey for a full main dish, ridiculously pricey for such a small serve given. The veg Mongolian beef was mainly vegetable and the stir fry vegetables was mainly sauce. This is the first review I have given anywhere, and compliments to the chef for the flavour, but the pricing doesn’t come close to the quality sadly.

We just happen to find this little gem after a trip visit to Mount Dandenong and on the way back home. We ordered a garlic pork ribs, dumpling & lemon chicken, all was delicious!! We can't get enough and ordered another vegetarian dish, The Fresh Three which highly recommended by the chef, it was INCREDIBLE tasty!! Can't recommended more with this restaurant, friendly staff, cosy & clean environment and tasty food, what more do you ask?! We all walk away with crazy full tummy.

What a find! Decided to give this place a go after failing to find a good chinese restaurant. I was super surprised. I consider myself a dumpling connoisseur, they are my absolute favourite thing to eat. These did not disappoint. Some of the most delicious dumplings Ive ever eaten. Also, mongolian beef was to die for. Vegetables still crisp and beef super tender with just enough spice. Staff were very friendly. Dont be fooled by the fascade and interior its just hiding a gem!

Wow, this was the best Chinese food I have ever had!! I live 45 minutes away and will travel just to eat this delicious food again. Amazing vegetarian/vegan options. What a gem. Lovely people too. 10/10, if you’re reading this get down to happy family restaurant! It’s amazing.

Finally some really good Chinese food in the hills. Went for some dinner with my little one and the prawn fried rice and chicken with vegetables were just spot on. Can't wait to go back and try the dumplings and a few other specialties (the spicy tofu looked very tempting). Super friendly service, and good prices. This will probably become a regular for us. 6/5 stars

We've ordered from here a number of times and it's always been delish. Awesome vegetarian options with heaps of faux meat dishes - even my meat eating husband loves them, and the kids love the fried rice. I generally steer clear from Chinese because generally the vegetarian options are pretty minimal and bland, but Happy Family has changed all of that. Delivery has always been pretty quick and we'll definitely be ordering from here again!

The food is delicious, and the owners/staff are friendly. I had the spicy beancurd and the vegetarian dumplings, which were both yummy. If you're a strict vegetarian maybe make sure you say so, as there was mince in the beancurd, which was in the vegetarian section of the menu. Glad there is finally an Asian restaurant, which doesn't just cater to western people in the area. It's more what you'd experience in the city or box hill.

This place is incredible, some of the best vegan food we've ever had from their vegan menu. The staff are incredibly friendly too and so accommodating. They even gave us these free vegan snacks to take with us on our bushwalk. We go there everytime we stay up this way. For how much we ordered it was so affordable too! So much good food for great value :D

Five stars are not enough!!! What can I say, this is my absolute all time favourite place to eat! Always warm and welcoming, their service is outstanding and they always go above and beyond! With an amazing range of authentic food, everything on the menu is delicious. The portions are extremely generous and very affordable. I just can’t recommend them highly enough!!!

This is the best Chinese food that I have had in ages. The black pepper sauce and vegetable beef was juicy and tender and the veggies crisp and fresh, cooked the perfection. The dumplings were fried nice and the special fried rice was just that, special. Thank you happy family, you just made us a happy family too! Ps. Maybe get some do-liver on the menu

Finally found real Chinese food. So many Chinese restaurants cater for western customers and don't taste anything like the food in China. This place is awesome. The noodle dishes are perfect and the tofu is exactly like I had in ChongQing. This is the place to go to if you want the real tatse of Chinese cooking at it's best. Congratulations to the team:-)

This restaurant has all the Chinese favourites like Dumplings, rice dishes and great spring rolls but this is the cleanest restaurant I have ever seen, and that attention to detail clearly extends to the kitchen and shows in the freshness of the food.
