Ok museum, probably a bit too small to justify the $10 ticket, because I went through it in only 15 minutes, then went back through a 2nd time to drag out my visit to 30 minutes by seeing the displays I skipped The audio tour is good and informative. The staff are friendly All the displays seem to be decades or years old, so they really need to add more recent exhibits. They should decrease the size of the gift shop, which doesn’t sell much stuff because of all the competition, to have more room for displays. If they don’t sell many seeds they should eliminate that side business as then they’d have vastly more space for their museum Also they need to tell people on exit there’s a sister museum included in your ticket a few doors down, or most people miss this, which again would help justify the price

Extensive information on industrial hemp production and the history of cannabis. Interesting collection of artwork including paintings and photos. The audio guide was useful but boring at times as each episode was quite long and sometimes distracting. I would prefer more of written information rather than trying to listen to the voice recording. I didn't like the fact that there was too much emphasis on why cannabis must be legal. It kinda felt like propaganda. I think the information in a museum should be objective and it shouldn't try to convince me to anything. The museum is not a must see but can be interesting if you are already in the area and don't have anything better to do.

Somewhat interesting. You can see it quick. Entrance is not expensive. And also it is not crowded. Language guide is free and offered in: Dutch, English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Portuguese and Russian. There are two museums included on the ticket. First museum is the marihuana history. Second museum, is a Gallery over Hemp and also its uses and history. Both can be seen quickly and they were not crowded, rather empty. The two museum are on different building, apart by just 40 meters or so. Start with the marihuana one and then go to the hemp one to finish your visit.

A nice museum with a lot of interesting information about the marihuana and hemp, the history of its use, and the political developments. You get a little speaker thing as part of the ticket price where you can choose a language and get information about different things relating to weed throughout the museum. A lot of interesting information relating to different aspects. At times, the spoken information was a bit too long and I lost focus, but stopping the audio was always an option. Overall a great museum experience, would definitely recommend going here if you're in Amsterdam.

This is a two part museum experience! The history in the Netherlands is vast. The culture us rich, and they care about the preservation of art and history. Marijuana has a very interesting part of our civilization. Through our needs in the medical fields, quality products, pop culture, and way of life, marijuana has been intertwined into our lives. This little museum will give you a glimpse into that history. Within the red-light district. Takes about an hour.

Very interesting and good guided tour (audio guide in several languages). You get to know the history of hemp production and usage. Additionally different cultural aspects regarding marihuana are explained. This all is rounded up by facing current political situations in Europe and Northern America. This museum is the only place in the Netherlands where full grown hemp plants are shown during growth (with screen protection). Definitely worth a visit.

Very interesting museum in 2 parts. Lots of information with the audioguide available in many different languages. For a small sized museum there was a lot to see and learn about. Certainly worth the very cheap price of 9€ per ticket ! Defenitly recommand if you are visiting Amsterdam ! Shows you that 1 plant can do so many things and that there is so much more to it than just calling it a 'drug'.

Super interesting and amazing facts, you don’t have to like weed to enjoy it. My boyfriend and I got baked beforehand and it felt like a little quest when one of the workers explained that the museum is separated into 2 and you go down the street to enter the next part of the exhibit, and also pop into the cafe next door and get a free drink. Loved the experience, definitely recommend

The museum's divided into two parts and in two different buildings. The main one shows how Hemp originated, grown right from seed to a complete plant, people first trying it and how cult started because of its usage. The second one shows the usage of hemp in different stuff. Overall it's small and interesting for someone who's interested in it but 9 eur is too pricey.

For me it was a little bit disapointing. Thee whole museum is only 2 rooms. You can see the history of marihuana, old, ancient paintings of this plant, old hashpipes etc...but nothing special. There are no discriptions next to the displays, but you can audioguidence. Its worth the visit once but dont expect too much

Great place, lots of great information and pictures. Loved the live grow. Didn't use the handheld information device much but was a nice touch if we'd have had more time. Staff were friendly and fun people. Wouldn't go again just us because wasn't huge so feel I have seen it now but was a great experience and we feel happy to have gone, would probably take friends/family and highly recommend to everyone.

Small but sweet. Yes this place is a little on the small side but it is organized well and is very informative. If you’re new to cannabis or just interested in learning more this place really has some good background from all over the world. The ticket also gains you access to a small hemp museum just north of the marijuana museum. We enjoyed spending our short time here. Staff was friendly and helpful.

  • Alexi

Great little place to visit, especially if you want to fill an hour of your day to check something cool out. Wish it was a little bit bigger, so there was more to see and learn about. Staff were super nice on arrival and departure. The guys working at the exit were amazing and super helpful!

Very informative and detailed, even though the space is small, there’s a lot to see and listen to over the audio which has several languages. It’s also one ticket for 2 museums so don’t forget about the second museum which includes a lot of the industrial uses for hemp. We also got free samples of hemp seed tea from the store Hempstory between the two museums

I recommend this little museum if you’re into alternative natural medicine. Was very interesting to see the real history behind the cannabis culture. Definitely a must if you like natural stuff. Get the tickets online in advance and you just show them at the entrance. You receive an audio relating device in different languages. … Meer

Great museum, definitely worth the entrance fee. Had some really interesting items and in the photos are a few of my favourite. They have an interesting piece of Howard Marks memorabilia which was particularly interesting to me. This would be a good place to bring someone who has a tainted or negative image of cannabis/hemp.

The Hash, Marijuana and Hemp Museum. It was a cute museum with a little bit of everything. It's a bit on the smaller side but has a lot to see. Was nice to get the history lesson and to learn the difference between Marijuana and Hemp.

This museum is a fantastic way to learn about the cannabis plant. The displays are well throughout and informitive. The tickets to the experience include a two part tour through cannabis history and manufacturing. While the whole experience only takes an hour and a half, it's a entertaining peak into cannabis culture!

Pretty unique topic about hemp, its history, use, and possible solution to the whole environmentally sustainable problem. Costs about 9,50€ (instore) and 9€, grants access to 2 small museums. It will take about 1ish hour to go through it all if you really take the time to immerse yourself. Overall I like it!

  • Vageesh

Not expensive or crowded, you can just buy tickets on the spot and enter the museum. Can be finished relatively quicker than other museums and you'll learn how hash and hemp actually have uses other than getting people stoned

Nice museum about the history of marijuana and hemp. I spent like 1-1,5 hours in there, there are a lot of interesting stories, facts about this plant. There is an area with huge plants too, they look weel kept. At the soivenir shop you can buy seeds, and products of marijuana, CBD...

Another unique museum Amsterdam has to offer. I learnt a lot and I will definitely recommend you to visit this small museum. They provide you accurate information about this incredible plant. I feel more museums like this should be open to promote drug education.

  • Petra Klamova

  • Sergiy Boiko

Very cool place. You can learn a lot about weed and different drugs. Also, they provide free audio guides in many languages. Update: went there a second time. Very nice place. I would still highly recommend to visit it …
