It says the pharmacy closes at 8:30pm. Very convenient when most close early if you're not free in the early evening. Got to the pharmacy at 8:19, it was still open. People inside. The security guard said they are closed and come back tomorrow. I was confused and politely asked what time do they close at. He responded, not with an answer but just come back in the morning and leave. I repeated the question more annoyed this time and said online it says 8:30. He said its already 8:30 and my time is wrong. Again said go away and come back in the morning. My time was of course not wrong and I asked the next person I passed for the time thinking i was mad. It was indeed accurate and he had rather rudely told me to "go away" 10 minutes before closing time. Was not worth the rush across the city centre when unwell. Will not be ever returning. Very rude, would give zero stars.
The pharmacist packed an alternative medicine to my bag without asking if I'm okay to try the alternative when the original was out of stock. Luckily I noticed before paying because I know that this alternative doesn't suit me and it would cause terrible side effects. I had specifically statet before that I will only take the medicine that is prescriped to me. I'm used to trust the health care professionals and maybe I'm used to exceptionally great service because I have used the Finnish and Swedish health care system so far, but the way I was treated made me feel that the aim of the pharmacist was just to rip me off. So selfish, disrespectful and unprofessional. I felt humiliated. The pharmacist also promised to come back to me the next day and let me know when the medicine would be available. Still waiting for call... I would recommend to try some other pharmacy!
Today I had a very racist situation in this pharmacy! I was there with my friend trying to buy a sunscreen and we were talking in Arabic. I told her « buy this in my arabic dialect for the Bioderma one » then she didn’t want and we left. The security man was staring at me in a very bad way, I felt bad and looked at him. Then I went to Clarks and he was outside staring at me. He followed us to Clarks. I went to ask « Is everything ok? » He was having his phone and I think he took a picture of me. He said: I speak Arabic and I know you told your friend to steal the sunscreen! I was shocked. I came back to the pharmacy and he was so rude talking to me and racist. He said I just need to talk with you and it didn’t concern the other friend. I’m wearing Hijab and I was speaking in arabic so he accused me without any proof!! This is terrible !!!
Downloaded app for repeat prescription service. Received message to say prescription was ready for collection. Went into Henry St to collect it. They had no idea what I was talking about. When I showed them the message on the app they said they hadn't made prescription up and I would have to wait. After waiting 10 mins pharmacist said she couldn't find the original. It took two members of staff to locate it as they had filed it under someone's else's name. When I got home I realised the other person's details were on my printout which I needed for the drugs refund scheme. I had to make another journey back into town to get this rectified. The whole experience was a saga. And as someone else commented it's crazy expensive. Prescription was €8 more in hickeys than my normal chemist.
If i could, I'd leave zero stars here. So few pharmacies open in the evening in Dublin and I was very hopeful arriving to this place. I just arrived to city in the evening from my GP who prescribed me a list of treatments and I don't really feel well. I did stand in the queue. At 8.11 pm girl at the till refused to accept my prescription due to many prescriptions taken and for the reason they close in 10 minutes also she was happily smiling at me. They were closing in 19 minutes... Never will come to this place again. Instead of helping people who really in need for medicine...I didn't come for free medication, by the way..
I am a tourist staying in a hotel down the street. I got sick and needed a Dr. The hotel had no idea who to call. I googled places and none had any appointments. I asked the pharmacist who wears glasses and he knew where I could get an appointment and helped me find the place too. Went back after Dr visit and rx was filled promptly. Pharmacist is customer friendly and very knowledgable about the side effects on meds too. Well stocked on otc meds too. Highly recommend!
So basically I am a Spanish student here and I had to buy some pills for a severe condition I have. When I was giving the prescription, I could feel the judgment of everyone and they were treating me as if I was giving in a fake prescription. For a pharmacy that is on the main road of Dublin, I was expecting more professionalism and more comprehension. It was a horrible experience that I would not like to repeat. I hope no one has to suffer what I had to suffer.
Have to agree with other reviewers, the customer service here is nothing short of obnoxious. Girl with a hijab basically threw my order at me whilst looking at me like I'm trash. I'm sorry if our cultural values don't conflate with yours, but save your bad attitude for outside of working hours. And sorry for being a woman and purchasing contraception but that's our right in the western world, and we can do so without judgement.
I recently paid €7 for a box of 15 antibiotics in Walsh's pharmacy, Rialto. On requesting the same antibiotics in Hickeys I was charged €10 for 3 pills. Six times the price per pill. On questioning the price difference, I was told it was down to variation in dispensing fees. It seems to me that there must be a huge difference in dispending fees to result in such a big final cost difference.
This pharmacy does not honor its hours. We waited outside the pharmacy for 30 plus minutes. There were workers inside but they wouldn't open the door. Aparrently, there was no pharmacist there and they had to wait. Not sure why they couldn't still let us in. Once inside I was looking for cold medicine, which they only had one option in a capsule form. I was hoping for liquid gels or syrup.
The attendant was extremely rude, I said I couldn't wait because I was going to miss my bus to Cork and she showed a stack of prescriptions that was in front of me and for someone who arrived it was the same excuse. If the hours after 5 pm are very busy, why do you leave only 1 person doing this work? I simply had to leave without my medicine. Sadly, horrible service.
30.06.2022 | I was just over there at 8:28am, and your opening time is 8:30am, there was more than 5 of us waiting for them to open the door at 8:35, the staff was literally by the door stacking up the shelves while we stand in the rain. What’s the point of your opening times if you leave your customers standing outside for more than 5mins in the rain. KMT
I've known many branches of Hickeys over the years and had good experience with them. But last week when I asked for advice, worn out by the effect of a severe facial allergy, I was talked into buying a cream, he told me it was 19.99, don't know why I acquiesed. When I got home, the label said 14.99. did he pocket the change. I didn't have time to go back
Serious Isl@mist vibe going on in here (all staff members?). I'm open minded but apparently they don't extend to us Iri$h that same courtesy. I might understand their contemptuous attitude if this was a m0sque, but alas this is a public pharmacy and based on that, I can't recommend, won't be back, and I would advise non-Isl@mists/"infidels" to avoid.
I went there yesterday and had a great customer experience! They were really understanding as I had some issues with the prescription. They took the necessary time to explain me how the Welfare system works in Ireland and how I can get my medications for free with the LTI scheme. Neither my GP nor my doctor at the Hospital did this. Thanks again!
Great service. I’m traveling over from the states and we had our family come down with strep throat. Doctor office was disorganized and didn’t send in all the prescriptions properly. Hickey’s pharmacists called them to work it all out and fill it in a timely fashion. Big help when traveling abroad for a pharmacy to help navigate a situation.
Fantastic service! Had rang my GP to send my script to this pharmacy, less than 5 min after my gp sent my script I walked into the pharmacy thinking I was going to have to order it and come back after work but my prescription was ready and paid for in less than 2 mins, super fast service from the two gentleman today 29/12/22!
The most professional and friendly team. They always help me out with my problems with the best solution.Even that i'm leaving in Kilbarrack ,when i have any problem i'm going there because i'm sure i will get the best service. From me they would get 10 stars.but here i can give just 5* …
I was an American with an injury and was looking for what I needed to fix it. Unfortunately most of what I was asking for wasn't available in Ireland. The woman behind the desk was kind and courteous, helping me find Irish equivalents that did the job I needed!
Girl at the counter gave me bonjela which is used to alleviate inside mouth ulcers for my problem which was angular chelitis outside of mouth. If you don't know what your doing just tell me, Don't give me the wrong medications to worsen my condition.
I asked for some iodine gauze and the lady behind the counter said they didn't have any. I asked if they had *anything* for wound dressing and she said no. Bit puzzled, this is a pretty basic key item for anywhere selling medical supplies!
Hickey's Pharmacy. Next to near O'Connell st bridge. On the same side as the G.P.O. it's great and Well none for its late night Opening. If you only get to see a late night.D-Doctor. If your so sick with a crazy flu. Or something's like
Unreliable, they do not respect the opening hours. I was waiting for them to open at 8:30 as it states on the door to get a cough syrup before going to work but the staff would not open the door for me to sell it.
Lovely Little chemist. Despite always being busy the staff and pharmacist are always courteous and pleasant. I visit once a weekewesks to have my suppositories inserted and wouldn't shop anywhere else. Noreen
Bursted my eardrum arriving in Dublin by air. Went to the pharmacy and received superb service by knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. Eardrops helped me recover and enjoy the remainder of my trip.
Always great service in Hickey's in Henry street and o connell St. Was in O connell branch today for flu injection, walk in ,great service guys. That was the O connell Street branch,so thank you.
Incredibly incompetent! Filled out an online form for a prescription 2 hours I advance and when I arrived it was not ready. Had to wait 20 minutes, maybe more just to get a simple prescription.
They took about 15 mins to give me one simple prescription medication and when I asked them if it will take longer, they felt greatly offended. Just the worst customer service experience!
Time up open till 20:30 and when got there it said closed at 19:00. They really don’t care as once they make money the customer and service is forgotten about and excuses are given then.
Bless this pharmacy for its late closing hours. Needed antibiotics last minute and thankfully they helped out a lot as they were the only ones open! Very kind staff.
They don't respect the opening times they have on their door. Went today 15 min before closing time and they told me they were closed without any explanation.
Friendly, professional and efficient attention from the pharmacist (Anne Marie). Thank you very much! Also appreciate the longer opening hours!
I got everything I had on my prescription for a change a lot off chemists are running short of medication and it only took 20 minutes
Knowledgeable and helpful pharmacist + A little bit high in price in compare to the other branches and other pharmacies
Kindly and fast serviceOpen at weekends as well. Highly recommended if you stay close to the Temple Bar. …
I got here five minutes before closing. They closed the door my face and would not help me. Go anywhere else!!!!
Didn't exept my insurence card so it cost me 40% more to get my persctiprion, go to your local pharmacy instead
So rude. Closed early. Need important medication and they don’t care. They just wanted to leave 5 min early!
Thank you Steven for being so helpful when I called looking for a walking stick. Much appreciated. …
Lovely staff, very helpful and obliging. Polar opposite of a pharmacist in Hickey's Henry Street Dublin.
