Ireland's oldest bookshop; established 1768 it is thought to be the third oldest bookshop in the world. Although it is no longer independent (it was bought by the UK bookseller chain Waterstones), it is still a must visit for the fabulous storefront displays and massive selection of books and book related gifts spanning four floors. They have loyalty cards which gives you a stamp for every €10 spent but I find them a bit of a hassle. I’ve accumulated over 10 differently stamped cards over the years as I always forget to bring them. A student discount or digital membership might work better. Location is excellent and close to the beautiful St Stephen’s Green park. I also recommend Sunbear Gelato or Fable Bakery in the same street if you’re looking for a treat.

The best book shop around, I can always count on it to have something good. Lots of genres to pick from. Not a fantastic stationary section though, that could be bigger and have a better layout, and some of the younger staff members were giving out great gossip about the workplace (I overheard their conversation but I wasn't eavesdropping they were just loud) and apparently the managers are hiring way too many people and promised their staff full time but then short notice gave them all part time. Typical stuff. I hope the staff are getting treated well. Hard to find a job that treats you well these days. Anyway, great sci fi section.

Love taking my nephew here as the children section is very good But wish staff would talk at lower volume and keep personal chat to breaks timez as got full details of a night out from two staff members in children's area and remember people like quiet time to look and read. On the other hand, when asking for help, the person behind the counter was very helpful and helped to expand our search too. Also wish the store would clean top of windows looking out to street as plants grown on them plus bird droppings all over them and they are long term there.

Probably the best bookshop left in Dublin. The range and quantity of books for sale is unmatched. Arranged over three floors, and a basement, the shelves are a nice dark grey, comfortable leather tub seats are scattered about, and their stock includes board games, jigsaws, and puzzles too. Prices are not as low as online sellers, but then you would not expect that, and they are mostly only slightly higher.

Nice and cute bookstore, with a lot of choices and a really nice staff. You can find a corner for everything and the decoration is cool, especially in the kids corner. I was lucky to find a book I had great difficulties to find elsewhere. I got the last one in the library so I'm really satisfied with my visit in there. I really didn't want to buy in on Amazon so I'm super happy to have found it here.

Neat book store in Dublin! Multiple floors of books of all sorts of different genres, fiction and non-fiction. I especially love the poetry section and have always found something here. Be sure to also check out the bargain section, which was located by the stairs going down on the red sidewall shelves. Highly recommended if you are visiting or are near the St. Anne’s area in Dublin.

One of the book shops left in dublin. Huge selection. Staff recommendations are helpful, and if they don't have what you want, they will order it in. Big fan of their loyalty card, you get a stamp for every €12 you spend, and after ten stamps, you can get €10 off, so if you are an avid reader, that's pretty nice. I've spent hours browsing here and buying, and I hope to continue to

My favorite bookshop in dublin! They have the best selection of books from new release, to textbooks, to Irish fiction that stands over 4 levels. The local and Irish section is spectacular! Irish contemporary fiction is one of my favorite genres to read and they have tables of suggestions and options to choose from! Definitely stop in if you’re around.

A wonderful bookstore where I could have spent so much time had I not waited until the last day to go in. Don't make the same mistake and allow for some room and weight in your luggage! Update: this year I went there first thing and picked out some books which I had shipped back to Germany. Worked perfectly! Many thanks to the staff!

A wonderful bookshop with extensive and comprehensive range of subjects covered. Hodges Figgis also hosts book launches with talks by the authors and specialists. My first visit to this great bookshop was a result of attending such a book launch. Highly recommend, including for the knowledgeable and helpful staff.

If you don't like books avoid this spot. If however, you are like me, and prone to biography, the odd Mills and Boon bodice ripper, or even the latest gastro-novel by Icelandic author Fnune Harbogdegson, then get thyself hither. It's one of the few remaining proper bookshops in Dublin. And it's frightfully large.

  • Stephen McGannon

One of the finest book shops in Dublin. Surprisingly large as the further you go, it just keeps on expanding. Prices are on the high side but if you want physical bookstores to remain open then it's the price you pay. Transport links are 6 star as the Green Line Luas pulls up directly outside the front door.

The best main stream book store in Dublin. You can never leave empty handed!! The staff are helpful, the stock list is vast and the atmosphere is genuinely welcoming!! Brilliant for those looking for an obscure or hard to find book, a best seller or how to start in their literary journey.

If you love books, this is your safe space. Several floors divided by topic and authors. Employees are extra nice and not afraid to recommend books based on your likes. You can sit around to explore at your own pace whatever book you like without no one disturbing you.

  • Joaquin Muñoz

Just simply the best book store in Dublin. So many book options, and tons of genres. They have a great Irish book section, with tons of literature, poetry, history and Irish tourism books. Four full floors of books for everyone's tastes and enjoyment.

  • Cecilia Farias

Helpful and friendly staff. Found almost all what I was looking for. We got 6 books. So many books around for good readers always make a good atmosphere. Some sofas around to rest and check the books that you are interested on.
