ULYSSES Abridged ~ A Shorter Journey through James Joyces's Masterpiece ~ is now available worldwide through Ingram distributors. Looking for a copy at Winding Stairs Bookshop, please! Gary Eberle Review, posted on Amazon, April 2023 Fallon has created a labor of love, intended for those not ready to invest the time needed to read the unabridged original text. Not burdened with too much critical apparatus, this version of Leopold Bloom's day in Dublin has enough notation to point the reader toward the deeper levels that lie below the sometimes-confusing surface of this 20th century masterpiece. The novel's text is all Joyce, but judiciously reduced for first time readers.

Amazing little bookshop near the hapenny bridge, full of books, and smells of old book-smell. Absolutely stunning books, stocks wide range of Irish and English authors, classic and contemporary. Absolutely lovely staff, very polite and helpful, bought a book for uni and the book arrived early, staff held onto it for me and when I misplaced my receipt the woman there had no problem back tracking her records to help me. Books are reasonably priced for there amazing quality, and will continue to shop there for any books they stock.

This is one of my favourite spots in all the city. Although small in size, it carries a wonderful selection of books. I specially commend the poetry section, much better than other larger bookshops I've been to. The staff is helpful and can give you excellent advice. And the back section with its second-hand books seems a photograph from older times and invites to stay and read without a care in the world. Do visit it if you come to Dublin!

One of my favorite restaurants in Dublin. Great quality local and organic ingredients. The quality of the food is outstanding: non-fussy, honest Irish ingredients. Very rustic and down to earth. Prices more on the premium side but worth every penny. Small, cosy restaurant. Recommend table by the window, since other tables can feel a little cramped.

My favorite bookshop in Ireland, small but mighty. The nature section here is so good and I can’t resist it, even though I usually only read fiction. Charming space with the radio always going, which gives it the nostalgic feel of a living room in days gone by, insulated from the noise of the city just outside the window.

Lovely little bookshop with quietly cantankerous staff. At one point I asked the sales assistant if she knew where I might buy Irish linen handkerchiefs (admittedly, nothing to do with books). She shrugged and made a strange comment about the US being to blame for the fall of the Irish linen industry. Strange and silly.

One of my favourite bookshops in Dublin. It has a unique collection of feminist works and other books. There's a kids section as well at the back of the shop. It's impossible to miss the shop and right in front of Ha'penny Bridge on the Bachelor's Walk side of the river.

Great books variety, loved the postcards and the "used books" section, reasonable prices and an overall cozy feeling. Came in wanting to have tea or coffee but I wouldn't recommend it, there's 2 tables by the window where you can do that but it feels out of place to

Really quaint bookstore where every book seems to be selected and placed with purpose. I was disappointed to find out that I paid double what I would have paid on Amazon for the same books. Great to get ideas but likely much cheaper to purchase online.

My favourite bookstore in Dublin, if you are a reader who loves contemporary literature and want to see what is up and coming this is the place to go, especially for Irish authors. Its cute, quaint and homey, its small but has everything you need!

Lovely little bookshop! We went in and got to hear a wonderful reading of some James Joyce by a local poet, who also read some of his won work. A lovely selection, and a friendly atmosphere. Great place! Glad I found it!

  • Anthony Alford

The best food I've ever eaten, the best service I've ever gotten, spotlessly clean, fantastic selection of wine on offer. I can't say anymore than you really must try this place at least once in your life !!!

  • Cassandra Walsh

Old style bookstore. Quiet and tonnes of books. Could spend hours in there. They sell their own brand of beautiful handbound notebooks and other pieces handmade in Ireland such as bookmarks from Cork.

  • Hannah Marie S (studentenleben)

Lovely little bookshop with friendly staff! Even though it's a small shop, you still have a lot of books to choose from. I would recommend this gem to every bookworm. :)

It's an awesome place to browse books but it does have a small selection. It's really aesthetically pleasing and worth a stop for the traveling book worm.

Nice bookshop!! Only have books that are on the shelves; if not available - they are more than willing to find it in another bookstore close by for you!
