I can't speak highly enough about my experience at the essendon dfo store. Every single staff member was helpful and always pleasant to deal with. Coming from a retail managing position I appreciate the customer service skills of this team. I went in to set up my gift registry for my kitchen tea in March , and although i tried not to be a difficult customer i re visited and added and removed items several times. I was expecting eye rolling or hesitancy but these these ladies were understanding and helpful. They built rapport and got to know us . Its a nice feeling to be remembered and for them to ask about our event. I had to go back to exchange doubled up items after and once again these ladies were all smiles. Their product knowledge was exceptional, they gave great advice . An extra special thanks to Alicia and Victoria. These 2 ladies went above and beyond to help us on several occassions. Months later remembering we had our wedding and asked about or honeymoon, remembering the location showed me they genuinely paid attention to our conversations. I wasnt planning on selecting so many items but now greatful to these ladies, as i have an abundance of quality and useful products that I can wait to open up and start using! I hope this review hits their senior management teams and they are rewarded for their exceptional customer service mindsets. Keep up the great work ladies and ill definitely be back to this store before going anywhere e lse, as soon as i need anything else. This store is blessed having you ladies part of their team. Disgusting treatment at this store. I came in with my family just to purchase some extra items for our kitchen. Was dressed well I didn’t even look the slightest bit dodgy which is besides the point, but didn’t stop them profiling me due to race, tattoo’s and looks I suspect? Just took a photo of a set of Japanese knives I thought looked cool and that was enough for the gentleman working their to inform the other lady employee I’m up to no good and looking to steal stuff lol. Then she came over to me asking if I was alright and needed help with an insinuating tone (I’m not stupid by the way). They embarrassed my partner also by discussing me potentially being a thief right infront of her as well, then realised what they had done after. Yeh real smart of you considering we walked in together lol. You’s should be really be ashamed of yourselves for targeting me in that way for absolutely no reason. It’s very hurtful to be a paying customer and experience a shameful situation like that. Still bought everything though didn’t I? Surprised the fella working there didn’t check my receipt just to make 100% sure I wasn’t stealing before I left

Lady at the door advised I couldn't walk in without a mask even though I have an exemption - wanted to see my medical cert which im not obligated to show as thats my personal information I do not wish to share. But if it helps I suffer from asthma and anxiety. According to the CHO orders this store is massive outside essendon DFO hence why i chose to come to this store as I can socially distance according to the square metre sizing of store. Shame on you House for discrimination. I must admit the lady was nice and not rude but there was plenty of people shopping with their masks under their chin in store.

I received a horrible cheap set of Chinese made "Japanese knives" as a gift. I brought them back here with the receipt for a refund and was refused a refund. I was told they only provide store credit, so now I'm stuck with store credit for a store that I refuse to shop at due to their cheaply made products and deceptive business practices. They prey on ignorant members of the public who think they're getting a great deal by pretending to have huge "sales" all the time, and displaying ridiculous recommend retail prices. The ACCC should sort this scam mob out.

I love this kitchen shop, today they tried to rip me off. I purchased 2 sets of chopping boards, it was advertised 50% off the 2nd one and the sales assistant acknowledged that, but when she rang them up on the computer the total came to more than the original amount even with the discount! I walked her over to where they were in the store to show her the price which she then adjusted the amount in the computer and we were off. Not her fault but House should have the prices in their system correctly, making it more pleasant for shoppers.

I called into DFO Essenden today , the girls were so polite and were respectful and asked if l needed help, in the end l purchased what l needed and was so upset on how the male manager spoke to one of the girls that worked their also , l asked if my purchase could be wrapped up and since it wasn't terribly busy she did so and than he he said to her in front of me l quote we do not wrap gifts on the weekend as it gets busy, and it was not busy at the register, l was so upset.

Dianne was very rude when we were at the cashier to pay for our stuff. My husband greeted her and she did not say anything and as a bonus, her face was unpleasant as if she doesn’t want to be there to serve us. Mind you, staff are suppose to greet customers and not the other way around. I think Dianne needs more training in customer service. Dianne, the store just opened an hour ago, please smile at least. Cheers!

Super happy with the service here. A lovely lady took us exactly where we needed to go and showed us how to get the best price by bundling other items. Got exactly what we needed and left happy. Had a couple of staff check we were being served which is good. If you need stuff for your house then here is a great place to do that. Go for it and enjoy. Highly recommended

In the outside section of the DFO, great, friendly staff who greeted us on entry and who new where all the items we were after were located. This is a much larger than usual House store. Very densley packed store, the only issue I had was some of the shelving and hang panels are so high up it was quite difficult to reach or look at some of the items we were after.

Very poor customer service, even worse the refund policy. Very tricky advertisement . I bought few products. Later I requested for refund of one item while I was in the store . Sales person refused to refund but they offer exchange. It was not written in the store.My recommendation is to check the price for those items which are on special.

House has done an excellent job of filling my new home with quality AND affordable products - there is so much to choose from but my shop assistant, Pallavi, helped me source everything I needed and more! She was so helpful I sent my sister in to ask for her with her set-up also. Couldn’t be happier with the products or the service :-)

Loved the energy of the store manager who was singing snd dancing. Gave us a very good deal on a Japanese knife set..if you are unsure about the product, ask for the store manager. Plus in this store you will find what you can't find elsewhere.

The store's policy is highly commended, I had a problem with my pressure cooker and due to that specific model being discontinued, the store gave me a voucher with its full amount to purchase a new model. I have been using it for years!!

Have been a few times. Great range of kitchen ware. Always a bargain to be had. But most of all the staff are fantastic, best near me. Full of knowledge, ways to save money but most of all patient. Recommend this store.

Waited in line for 5 minutes to be served and then got to the front and the checkout person informed me she couldn't serve as she was wrapping a product. Bad service!
