"It was one of the badest experiencing I have ever had! I delivered my baby in Hurstville private hospital cause I heard that it’s a very good hospital! But with my experience it was an awful and very bad experience!! The maternity section experience was very bad! They left my newborn baby without feed him for nearly 10 hours, only one nurse(that she was rude and not interested in her job) came to help me trying to breasfeed my baby since I am a First time mom , she saw that my baby didn’t know how to breastfeed so she left me without any help which lead to lowered the sugar level in my newborn baby body and He rushed him to Special care section to feed him"

I am in Hurstville Private Hospital at the moment having a Ketamine infusion and since walking into my room it has been a nightmare for the second time. My TV didn't work, the sheets on the bed were dirty and I was told I could only have 2 pillows unless I steal one from the empty room next door. The food has been nothing short of disgusting and poor quality, burnt toast, burnt dry breakfast tart. It took over 5 hours to start my infusion as day shift didn't want to do it so I had to wait until afternoon/night shift came on and did it. My pain management has been so poorly managed that I had a flare while in here. It has taken up to 2 hrs to get a nurse to give me an answer on my treatment. Over night I went 5hrs without any nurse checking in to see how I was. I was placed in a room down the very end on my own and left to it. I havent felt safe or cared for since being here. Staff have made everything an effort and after having problems with my bowels and been given 6 tablets to help that not one nurse has asked me if I have used my bowels. I have had no offer of help with showering and no constant care of any kind. I feel broken and very sad that I have been treated so poorly in a private hospital in which I paid a lot of money for. My pain has not been managed at all. What the hell is going on in this hospital? It's just disgusting!!!!
Don't give birth at this hospital. The workers are negative, unprofessional and make excuses for talking 30mins to and hour wait. They usually run the maternity section on a skeleton staff with 8 patients and only 1 staff on the floor. I'm a first time mum and they slander me during my cesarean and made me very upset and I lost 7.7 kg during my stay. They made my stay very difficult and threatened to call DOCS and my baby had to stay in the nursery when they thought suffered a medical condition. With a good Obstetrician advocacy and another healthy worker I was given gate leave and outing before being transferred to another hospital. It was a very good friend's birthday and I told them I was going out and later called them that I was going to sleep over at my house. The next day I found out that I left my baby. I in another hospital and I have a good rapport with the workers and other patients. What the hell are they doing to my baby and family. Birth of any child Is suppose to be the happiest moment and they caused me to develop depression during my stay. Other patients also think they are rude, unprofessional and blunt and make excuses for not able to provide care to patients and baby. Please go to another private hospital. Go to St George private instead. I transferred hospital and it is much better here.
It was one of the badest experiencing I have ever had! I delivered my baby in Hurstville private hospital cause I heard that it’s a very good hospital! But with my experience it was an awful and very bad experience!! The maternity section experience was very bad! They left my newborn baby without feed him for nearly 10 hours, only one nurse(that she was rude and not interested in her job) came to help me trying to breasfeed my baby since I am a First time mom , she saw that my baby didn’t know how to breastfeed so she left me without any help which lead to lowered the sugar level in my newborn baby body and He rushed him to Special care section to feed him. There was only 2 nurses on the floor and there was 7 women who gave birth and need help and caring! I had a C-section and I had a bag attached to me since I can’t go toilet, they didn’t come and check it!! I called them twice cause the bag was full to change it . They left my baby without washing him for 3 days and the other nurse came and she was surprised that they left him without a wash till that time!! The Delivery suite experiencing was very nice and the midwives are gorgeous and caring specially Dona who was very supportive and helpful . The service wasn’t good and Would never ever deliver my second baby there!
I came in to deliver my first child. The first Midwife that did internal examination upon arrival couldn’t tell apart head to bottom of my child - had to call more experienced midwife to double check. You can imagine my reaction, especially considering I had seen my doctor only 8 hours prior and she was head down. Secondly, when asked if the was anything to hold on to on the bed (i.e. railing) - same midwife said that this bed didn’t have anything…only couple of hours later to find out there were actually rails attached-they were just tucked away under the bed. Also saying that 2 other midwifes in delivery suite were sensational. And the suite itself was great, but experience was already dampened from the start. During our stay in the hospital I have found that there are just too many midwifes each day/night there’s a new person, with it comes: different personality (some are quite abrupt), different way of doing things etc. It is quite overwhelming when you are a first time Mum and you have every midwife telling you how to do things differently. Also on the first night of our stay one of the midwifes “cooked” the colostrum we brought from home by putting it to thaw out in hot water. Understand it was genuine mistake, but that just shouldn’t have happened.
Was here for the birth of my son. We loved that they could take us here when another private hospital said they were too full despite us being booked in. Midwives in delivery suite were amazing, they were always super friendly and helpful. Delivery suites are large and spacious. Ended up with an emergency c section and everyone involved was incredibly nice. My child ended up in special care nursery and whilst I don’t question the care he was receiving at all, the nurse in the nursery seemed disinterested In him or me despite that he was the only child in her care. It didn’t inspire confidence that with multiple children in there she would cope well. My wife found whilst some nurses on maternity were great, some were terrible. She had one who was rude, uninterested, and unhelpful for her despite her recent c section. Her request to talk to a more senior person was denied. There also appeared to be too few nurses on the ward for how many patients there were. It was a disappointing experience and it is highly unlikely we will return for future pregnancies. I will say the food was good, much better than some of the other larger private hospitals.
I had a really bad experience at Hurstville Private's maternity ward. The staff at the delivery ward were nice, attentive and empathetic. But the quality of the staff at the maternity ward were varied. There were nice midwives, such as Kathy. But in general, the midwives and nurses at the maternity ward lacked relevant medical knowledge, were not good at explaining things, and provided conflicting info. They claimed that they were "pretty much lactation consultants", but they really are not. They did not provide the right help to me regarding the feeding, which made it much more challenging for me to establish feeding after I went home. Some of them were even unfriendly. Among them, I found Sally was borderline rude, and she went out of her way to make me feel bad for my decisions about feeding. When we were ready to check out, I went to her and said nicely with a smile :"We are ready to check out, let me know when the paperwork will be ready." She responded in an extremely rude way: "I HAVE TO FINISH WHAT I AM DOING, DON'T I? YOU JUST HAVE TO BE PATIENT."
Hi, I just want to send my big thank you to the hospital. My mum Thi Mai Tran went in for a knee replacement under a public patient scheme, was operate my Dr Christopher Reitz on the 26/10, she was in room 333. Dr was extremely kind and compassion My mum and I was so touched by the service she received from the team. from the reception to nurses in the ward, the ladies/mens that serve meals they were so kind to cater the right dietary requirement. i want to thank you to Debbie Donna Mary Judy Liz (the physio) she was so determined to get mum to get back on her feet, she was extemly kind to mum. and everyone else that i'm so sorry i didn't get everyone's name. there wasn't any discriminate or mistreat just because she was a public patients. mum enjoy every moment she that was at the hospital, she enjoy it so much that she didnt want to go home. thank you and thank you for your kind heart and compassion. made her staying pleasant and swift recovery. please pass on our thank to each individual so they know that they are appreciated of their hard work.
Dr. George Touma has been a blessing to our family...He is excellent in his field and explains all patient enquiries with great details and proper explanations. He is very approachable, understanding, comforting and treats his patients with utmost care. I had many bad experiences with doctors earlier but finally so glad to find Dr. Touma and can trust him completely with his work to look after my parents. He is very prompt with his responses even at odd hours. Dr. Touma is extremely passionate about his work and always thinks about the patients first and will arrange everything urgently as required for the wellness of his patients...If you are looking for one of the best cardiologists in Australia, without any hesitation, you can visit Dr. Touma. His entire team in Hurstville Private is excellent. Trust the best in field with your most precious wealth - your health. Thank you Dr. Touma for your excellent care.
I had a very bad experience with them, i was scheduled for a surgery 11.30 am then on that day the receptionist called me 9.30am and said that the doctor is running a bit early so if you can come early and we will start the surgery straight away , i said i will try but i cannot make it because i have things to do, the the receptionist said its ok no rush. But 10.55 the doctor called me and said if you are not here in 5 minutes i am going to cancel the surgery, it this the way to talk to your patients, he was extremely rude to me and after talking to him i did not have any confidence left in him. I was scared before my surgery . I saw some negative reviews about the hospital and staff and doctors but i thought may be someone gave them bad reviews doesn't mean that it will be actually that bad but i would say whatever i have gone through that day proved that all the bad reviews were genuine.
We traveled up from the far South Coast NSW for 2 major back surgeries so will be here for 2 weeks. I'm staying in with hubby in private double room and I can't believe how wonderful this place is so far. Only since 22 Feb has HPH been able to accept vax'd only visitors because of Covid restrictions on surgery shutdowns etc. I have a bed, meals are superb like a very good restaurant and staff have been very accommodating and empathetic. Hubby is being cared for wonderfully in ICU and 1st operation gone well. For me (non-patient), it's been wonderful and less stressful than being at home wondering about his care for 2 weeks or having to stay in a motel worrying.
My partner had surgery here and was admitted to stay for 2 nights. I understand there are visiting hours, however, given that we travelled interstate for the surgery, it would of been nice if there was some leniency. But no! The nurse on our last night barged into my partners room whilst he was asleep from the heavy medications and asked my partner with an extremely rude attitude “have they left”. Luckily, I had already left otherwise I would’ve dealt with her accordingly! No courtesy or respect towards the patient that is resting just rude and obnoxious behaviour! Such a shame as the rest of the days, our nurses were lovely and very helpful. Room 309
Great new facilities, unfortunately don't match poor service from catering staff. Asking for anything is a waste of time. Had to fast for a day and half before coming. After op, no food until the morning and not by doctors request. Very inconsistent, night nurse had no idea. dropped my back rest from 60 deg angle straight down in one big bang, that was a few minutes after my hernia operation. Some quality control would definitely make this the best Hosp around. And more exp nurses in the wards. Pillows had blood stains on it. Most staff were very friendly though. Take some food with you just incase.
I am very concerned at the standard of care for elderly patients. My mother has been there and her treatment has been very very variable. Senior medical staff are rotated through the medical ward on short term placements so there is no continuity of care. One very caring and articulate doctor was replaced by another with a brusque manner. Only by complaining have I received updates of a kind about my very frail mother. She had a very serious fall but staff were internally conflicted as to its cause. Ward seems to be chronically understaffed yet dealing with multiple complex cases. Cannot recommend.
Poor training, poor equipment, overworked nurses and the maternity unit is under-staffed. The hospital puts business/money ahead of patients welfare. I was privy to numerous conversations by staff in maternity that they are understaffed and the equipment they use is old and outdated. There is poor post birthing care which I can only attribute to poor training. Sadly all of this lead to a poor outcome. This is not to say if you had a healthy child without complications your experience would be different and negative. With no issues at birth or post birth you may not notice the difference.
I had gynaecological surgery this week at Hurstville Private and I have nothing but praise for this hospital. Every single person I came into contact with was so kind and reassuring and really put me at ease. Most importantly I felt heard and listened to at every step of the way. I was placed on the Maternity ward afterwards where they were so thoughtful and helpful and I have to give an extra thanks to my nurse/midwife Kath. She was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for me. Thank you so much for making a difficult time as pleasant and calm as possible.
I had a day procedure at Hurstville Private. What a beautiful hospital. Genuine amazing staff in the day procedure area. Nothing was too much trouble and I was looked after like I was the only patient in the ward. Warm gowns, warm robes and blankets all straight from a warm towel cabinet. Delicious fresh sandwiches, tea coffee water juice. When I was ready to be picked up they called my husband and escorted me to reception so my husband didn't have to find a car park. Fantastic service. I highly recommend Hurstville Private Hospital.
All three of our kids were born in this hospital. We were very grateful for the preparation classes and the care the midwives gave us. It was easy to get to and the parking was easy to find as well. The coffee was just OK. And the contracted photographer they sent to offer her services seemed to have been employed by a bigger organisation so she didn't seem to know the details of handling her camera. I had to help her. But aside from that, it's a terrific hospital and I wouldn't mind having another kid delivered there again!
I was here for a surgery and stayed overnight. I had a super pleasant experience! I didn’t feel like I was in a hospital at all… all the nurses that I met (from admission, waiting areas, outside of the operation room, to back in the recovery room) were super kind, friendly and helpful which completely took my anxiety away. The hospital is so clean and has a beautiful view. Meals are delicious and again, don’t feel like it’s hospital food as well. Thank you so much for looking after me.
Partner came from Canberra to visit me. But it wasn't in the visiting hours and she was spoken to extremely rude by the nurse. Her words were you can't be here you can't here read the sign ill show you.. makes it hard for interstate people to get operations here because you can't reason with the rude nurse . Could of been handled better given the fact when your in pain its nice to have support for you by your bedside . Maybe they don't want indigenous people here. Room 302
I was surprised to see a doctor and two nurses to struggle installing a needle and starting a drip for 50 minutes. Two insertion attempts, the machine was beeping, the needle was readjusted several times, drip pace slowed... Until yet another nurse came in, did a small procedure and restarted the full flow. The doctor seem to had forgotten to tell the nurse that there were two insertions, so at the end of the procedure the nurse dressed up only a single place. Good food.
I was in the hospital for three days, the nursing staff were amazing and the facilities were great. Cannot highly rate the nursing staff on the surgical ward. My only minor issue was that I was not told about what would happen prior to me going in to have my surgery, but that was more my failure for not thinking to ask about the process. If I needed to have another procedure, I would not hesitate to come to the hospital to have it.
Had an amazing experience for the birth of my son. Everything from the pre birth to delivery and postnatal was 5 star. The midwives in delivery suite were incredible and guided us through everything. 100% recommend my OB Dr Izurieta. And every single midwife/nurse in the maternity ward was amazing. Helped us navigate being first time parents, answered all our questions and made sure we felt safe and secure going home. Thank you!!!
My wife Angelina and I are so grateful for the care, knowledge and support that was provided to us during our stay by all the maternity staff. Special thank you to Shannen who played a key role in the delivery of our baby girl. She was awesome! Also Debra was a blessing along with all the other midwives who were so attentive and caring. As first time parents this experience has been invaluable <3
Outstanding, professional service and facilities. This was my first visit to this hospital and if I even need surgery in the future, this will be my first preference as a hospital. Staff are so kind, friendly and helpful - nothing is ever too much. Impeccably clean and the food is superb. A facility that a lot of other private health businesses could learn a lesson from.
I recently had Day surgery, getting teeth removed by Dr Bruce Austin and amethyst John Hamilton both whom are amazing at what they do and would recommend them to everyone, also ALL the Day surgery nurses are fantastic as they take the time to look after their patients and ensure are okay.. a special thanks to Vicky! Thankyou ALL for making my time a pleasant experience!
My friend recently had a baby there. Traumatic experience. Bed bound and put on epi "to speed things up". Then typical - baby went into distress and it's a c-section. She was told that it's because of 'cord around the neck'. Very poor clinical care. It’s good if everything is normal, but with the cascade of interventions, much of the complications are caused by them.
I spent 2 weeks at Hurstville Private and was impressed by the care and hygiene of this hospital. I was under the care of Dr Shriya Mahatme. Her dedication to her patients was exceptional and certainly made my recovery a lot easier. The unit is run by Ladrini Arrowsmith and her team. They were also exceptional and certainly took pride in their work. Great Hospital.
My wife and I went through the very traumatic process of aborting our deceased baby here today. Nurse Melinda treated us with much compassion and professionalism. She explained everything so clearly which made things a little easier at this very difficult time. Thump up for Melinda. Also our ob, Dr Quan Ho, made the process as seamless as possible. Thank you both!
We were taken care by Dr Bushati who is an amazing obstetrician, and the midwives and facilities are the nicest, patient, high quality and full of great advice. We will definitely have our second baby here under the same care. Lots of free street parking and newly renovated... by far the best kept secret in maternity wards!! Free wifi is a win
This morning dad went in for day surgery! Small procedure…. Absolutely no update on my dads surgery @Hurstville Private Hospital I find it absolutely appalling that reception have said I first need to wait 6hrs before they give me an update on my dad because if they had to update everybody they will be too busy. So I’m here waiting…
Wonderful hospital. Discharge summaries are excellent and we always have an excellent overview of the care patients have received. Discharge plans are clear and dealing with bookings excellent. Dr George Touma is a superb cardiologist and provides the highest level of care to patients we refer. Great job Hurstville Private!
This hospital looks fabulous since the renovations. The rooms are comfortable, cosy and modern which makes your stay here more pleasant. Our family member was pleased with the meals and the variety of food provided. The nursing staff were extremely helpful and kind with their post operative care. An impressive hospital.
I was a day surgery patient here in Hurstville private hospital. Everyone was so professional and lovely. The process went smoothly and I was pleasantly surprised by the very clean facility. A big thank you to the nurses, they were extremely attentive and accomodating. I would definitely recommend this facility.
Absolutely horrible customer service, called through requesting a quote for upcoming surgery and representative speaks like I am wasting her time. No regard at all for customers and honestly appaled by lack of empathy. The first ever quote I needed, got through and lady was amazing prompt and so accommodating.
I have had two Total Knee Replacements, in May and November. Surgeon Ben Schwarz. Had no pain, in on Wednesday and out Saturday. The staff - Admissions, Theatre, Recovery, ICU, Surgical Unit were professional, competent and friendly. Ben's has a great bedside manner and cannot recommend highly enough
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all the Midwives and nurses that were working on the 19-21st of April 2022. Although the reason for my stay was a heartbreaking one, you all really made me feel so comfortable and I really appreciate all the effort you all put in. Thanks again. God bless you all
Had surgery a week ago at hurstville Private, the nurses were wonderful on the surgical ward, especially one of the nurses who is also pregnant, such a caring and friendly nurse. Lovely clean hospital room with a beautiful view, didnt feel like I was in hospital, lovely staff thanku so much.
I was in the hospital for one day procedures. I have to say I found the staff very helpful and the care was first class. If I were to go to hospital again I would certainly be happy to know if it were Hurstville Private. I was in there under my married name.
I went in for a double hip replacement here, with Dr Razvan Stoita, in June 2022. Having major surgery is not super-fun, but I have absolutely no complaints about Hurstville. The staff were uniformly friendly and caring. And the food is great too.
A very pleasant, cheerful, friendly hospital with lots of encouragement to help improve recovery. Clean, bright surroundings, comfortable hospital bed and a window lounging/exercise bed. Excellent staff who listen and explain.
Went in to Hurstville Private for a day surgery to have my 4 wisdom teeth removed. Great hospital, the nurses were professional and continually checked on me. Would return in future if I need other surgeries.
Pre birth care was shocking including labour lead by Donna, delivery prep & delivery was amazing lead by Kathy, post natal was good for the most part depending on which nurse/mid wife you got.
Had a small procedure done here. Every single staff member had impeccable customer service. Caring, respectful and responsive. Special shout out to Tara who was the nurse in day surgery.
I had a day surgery here. the registered nurses here were great, nice and so helpful. they always come to check on me and asking if I need their help. Nice environment. Good services
The staff in the maternity ward were all so lovely and attentive. I was extremely pleased with my experience at Hurstville Private from the Antenatal classes to the birthing suites.
I had a minor procedure and overnight stay there recently. The hospital and its facilities were first class and the level of care from the nurses and all the staff was excellent.
I was a recent patient for day surgery. Could not speak more highly of the staff with a big thank you to Barbara who was delightful while completing a very busy day
No Gap program extremely misleading and only available if you are in one specific health fund with the response being oh well if you change to fund.
Amazing staff and doctors. Nurse staff were very friendly and helpful. They were able to make my visit and day surgery very comfortable and easy.
Was there for day surgery and could not fault the service from the nurses and staff.
