I really enjoyed my shopping experience at InStep. The salespeople were super nice and willing to go the extra mile to make sure my new Birks were just right. There was no added sales pressure from the staff, which is a huge thing for me. Sometimes I just want to satisfy my curiosity, and not be hounded or crowded by over-eager staff. They don't have commission salespeople, so you only get what you want, or might be interested in. The shoes and merchandise selection is not huge, but there's plenty to choose from. If you're not used to buying shoes from a dedicated shoe store that specializes in high quality and proper fitting, the prices may seem a little high. But, if you keep in mind that not only are these shoes better for your feet than your average pair, and that they should have a lifespan of many, many years, the price is well worth it! I bought some work Birks with extra comfortable arch support, and a pair of sandals for my off-work fun time. Looking forward to shopping there again for some dressy(but casual) shoes, because they've got some really nice ones. TL;DR good selection, great no pressure service, super good for your feet and comfy shoes.

I would like to personally thank Grace for being the most patient, informative and kind sales person I have come in contact with in a very long time. I feel like a lot of people don't leave reviews for positive experiences these days and she definitely deserves a five star review. I also feel like most sales people these days are just in a hurry to make a sale and get you out the door. Not Grace. I am on my feet twelve hours a day and to say that they hurt its an understatement. I told Grace my story and she listened and then spent two hours helping me find the right shoes for me as well as a few other things they sell. No pressure from her in the slightest. I’ve traded with Instep because of their great customer service and have had my Birkenstock sandals serviced at the old Guadalupe store and at the store on 360 for a combined 30 years or more. I currently have about 10 pair of shoes in my closet from Instep. Walked in about 2 months ago as I had never been to this Instep. I was never greeted when I entered and had to go up to the counter to a young man to ask for help. He was not busy checking anyone out. I asked about the closest footbed to the Birkie footbed. He told me all the footbeds were the same. He pointed to the Papillio section and didn’t try to sell or offer to show me any other shoes. It seemed it was too much of a bother for him. I won’t ever go in this location again.

I hate shoe shopping! It’s a pain in the a… uh foot. I have flat feet so most shoes aren’t good for me and most shoes are dumb looking or uncomfortable. If you’re like me then this place is for you. Even if you’re not like me this place is great. Specifically Megan (actual name spelling may differ) who immediately got me to relax and was a joy to work with. She measured my feet without wrinkling her nose, discussed my needs and preferences then brought out a huge stack of boxes. An hour and a half later I was walking out of the store in new shoes with a smile on my face.

I have been looking for Birkenstocks for a while due to my knee pain, and popped in this local shoe store this morning. I was immediately and kindly greeted by Carla, who was EXTREMELY helpful. I was very impressed at both the customer service and advice I received about their products. So much so in fact, that I purchased a pair of Birkenstocks after Carla had made sure I had the PERFECT fit. Thanks InStep! An excellent and local place for Birkenstocks. Can't beat it!

Took my daughter here today to look for some orthotic inserts and walked out with two pairs of shoes instead. (one pair for myself) We spoke with the shop worker Grace. She listened to our problems and concerns with patiences and helped us pick out products with great knowledge and understanding. Totally worth the 30 mile drive for this service alone. I would rather pay a 'Local' shop a little bit extra, than to blindly purchase on Amazon to save a couple of bucks.

Apparently Monday mornings are a popular time for shoe shopping. When I arrived the store was packed. I worried that getting help might take a while but I was greeted promptly and had a salesperson within just a few minutes. She was extremely knowledgeable, pleasent and helpful. I didn't end up buying today but will be back to do so when I've made my decision. If you need real expert advice coupled with attentive friendly service In Step is the place for you.

I had a good experience here. Jordan helped me find shoes that are improving my overall quality of life. I got work shoes that virtually eliminated my foot pain. I spend 10+ hours a day on my feet, so I’m really impressed. I also got some red clogs that may be the cutest things I’ve put on my person. My only qualm is the price, but it’s worth it to invest. I’m just a broke pastry chef so I reserve the right to be moderately salty about it. Pun intended.

I came in to get a pair of Birkenstocks I received for Christmas exchanged for a different size. I'm drawing a total blank on the employee's name, but she had short, dark hair and was very pleasant to work with. She helped size my feet and make sure that I had shoes perfectly sized for me. She also took the time to teach me how to properly care for my new shoes and never made me feel rushed even though they were busy. I will definitely shop here again.

This was my first time buying “grown up” shows that are actually supportive and were prescribed by a podiatrist. So, I had a lot to learn. Krystal was incredibly patient and knowledgeable. She answered all my many questions and educated me on shoes and insoles that work best for me. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. If you are new to good shoes, no need to be intimidated. Krystal was as supportive as my new shoes and insoles.

Jordan at InStep Central was amazingly patient, kept all of my shoes and insoles in order when I asked to try on a million different pairs, and fit me perfectly in my first pair of Birkenstocks. Super helpful, no-pressure staff! I had stopped in before, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything but knew that I’d buy from InStep when I was ready. I’m happy to say that I bought my first pair of Birkenstocks at InStep the other day, and I’m so happy with them! The staff took their time to make sure I had the right fit, and I look forward to wearing them all the time once they’re broken in!

This is the best shoe shopping experience we've had in Austin & we visited several other places 1st. The customer service here is above & beyond. They also have all sorts of tools & tricks for making your shoes more comfortable. The pair I wanted had a seam that dug in & hurt but Carla was able to flatten it for me & the shoes feel fine now.

Another great spot for happy feet! You won't find a bigger selection of Birks in the city. Tons of other brands to choose from made in different countries around the world so you aren't forced to buy China made. Lots of leather options from sleek to sporty. I stopped in this morning after waiting over 30 minutes to receive poor service at a nearby competitor. Carla greeted me as soon as I walked in and when I told her what style I was looking for, she found me the perfect pair of Naot shoes and I was in and out of the store in about 10 minutes. If items were not in stock, they said we could order and have the item sent to our house. Very convenient. They have a great selection of shoes to choose from.

Love my Birkenstocks. Been here twice. First time to get my first pair and the second time to get my hubby some. They took the time to explain how to properly wear and size the shoes on your feet and gave some instructions on what to do once the shoes are broken in and how to reseal and clean them.

Krystal was AMAZING!!! I limped into the store thinking I wasn’t going to play Pickeball for a while with horrible turf toe. She hooked scanned my feet then hooked me up with carbon fiber insoles under some other high arch insoles and I walked out and played 2 hours of pickleball with NO PAIN!!!

I was so pleased with help in selecting shoes that REALLY fit my feet! Katelyn was very patient while I tried on many pairs of Birkenstocks. She also helped me find the proper orthotics that just made my running shoes feel like new and custom fitted. I highly recommend this store!
