The last few times I have visited this location they were out of something. Today (at about 3:40 pm), wanted a snack pack and the worker told me "am not doing snack pack?" Why? " i donot want to run out of meat?" What? Really? Meat is what this place is founded on meat ( they stay open until at least 9 pm, thwy had alittle ways to go).So i ordered a chicken sandwich instead. Snack pack comes with a leg quarter, and guess what a chicken sandwich comes with? Yes leg quarter! So what was the difference on the meat portion on either one i order? Both leg quarters!!! NOTHING!!! I grow up, born and raised, down the street from the first original building of Jenkins BBQ on Kings Road and this food. Grown up with the Jenkins son Darryl. So this surprise me everytime I go to this location they are always out of something!!! You been serving the community for over 50 years and you donot know what you need from day to day to service to the people? SMH...Mr.Jenkins come back please because whoever you left in charge does have a business or production mind set to earn money and keep customers.

Half Chicken Sandwich

Maaaaaaaaan! When I tell you to find a BBQ place open after 9pm is a never! It's a never! But Jenkins got it! My ribs & chicken meal with baked beans and potato salad was yummy. I got the hot . Be prepared cause I ordered my sauce hot. And it did not disappoint. But not so hot that you can't enjoy your ribs. The chicken is actually cooked really well. I was surprised. Wish the sides were served in bigger containers and had a few more options like cornbread, or collard greens or Mac n cheese. The sides were cool but the ribs and chicken was the real deal. The Lady who served me was cool, and very hospitable. Liked that. It was my first time and I'm not trying to be rushed. I even like that their menu is off to the side for decision making, it's really simple and not overdone with too many items it confuses patrons. Overall, I come back to Jacksonville, I'll need to hit this spot again!

Decided to stop to Jenkins for dinner drove up to window the young girl( I can't call her a lady because the way she acted) looked at me stupid didn't say hello didn't say what can I get you or nothing she just sat there so i began to talk and tell her I wanted a rib sandwich I didn't get to look at menu long so I asked her what kind of sauce did they have her reply to me was what kind do you want or do you want your ribs with no sauce and she sat there and looked at me stupid! To make a long story short She had a very nasty and poor attitude so I just drove off without getting anything and took my money somewhere else. I will not be going there again at all. When I drove across town to Bono's the lady greeted me at the window with a smile and said hello and when I asked her what kind of sauce they had she answered me with no problem.

I can say the lady at the cash register was so nice, helpful and friendly. Now the food! Haven't been here in awhile. No!!! Ribs and chicken No seasoning! Not tender! For the amount of money I paid. 2 bones! Fries not fully cooked! Baked beans were so sweet that I didn't order them, when I ordered potato salad. I don't know what happened. This is not what I remember. I even brought my sister to Jenkins a long time ago and it was good. Jacksonville has really disappointed me. Food doesn't taste the same anymore. Or people just don't care. Just getting the food out is not the way. Cook food the way you want to eat and your family.

Stopped by for lunch, smelled great outside and as soon as you walked in it smelled of a great BBQ joint. Had all the signs for good food. Old pictures on the wall, you could see a pit in the back cooking food, a menu with like 4 things plus sides. All good signs. Received my pork sandwich and beans fast. The sandwich was most likely microwaved as the pork was insanely hot, way hotter than fresh pulled pork should be. And the beans.. They were okay at best. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but for an establishment as old as Jenkins they should have it down packed. Wouldn't return.

My boyfriend decided to give Jenkins another try in his neighborhood and ask me to try. Now I usually get his chicken and rib combo from downtown. Never had a problem with store. I wish I did take a picture but we were so sad about the poor quality of food we gave it to the dog. Who doesn’t clean the chicken the wing had feathers sticking out of it and was cooked so hard we couldn’t eat it the ribs were so dry. Who ever cook that food need to go to cooking school. Last time we will eat there. Thanks for a bad experience

Stay away from this place the cashier at the the drive thru has a terrible attitude. I asked to see the size difference between a medium and large cup and she would instead showing she rolled and said dude what size do you want? I made a complaint with the manager. His response was this girl is killing me and then at point I realized he was just as sorry as she was. I ended up going to panda express asked the lady that register the same question about the cup sizes she had absolutely problem showing them to me. Do better Jenkins.

Jenkins quality BBQ establishment is a wonderful black owned establishment. The food was great and always has been every time I've been. This has been decades of great quality barbecue with a sauce to die for. I actually purchased two bottles of their Jenkins barbecue sauce. Prices are great for what you're receiving. Customer service is magnificent. When it comes to some southern barbecue, Jenkins quality BBQ is the place to be. A hood famous establishment.

I have eaten Jenkins my whole life. I stopped to take my son lunch, he wanted a pork sandwich. NEVER have I had such a dry, very little meat pork sandwich. It tasted/looked as tho they threw previous day meat in micro. I always get rib sandwich and never had complaint.

I should’ve took the clue when I was there and the same guy had to come back in twice because they messed up his order. Whole Chicken

I ordered a rib sanwiche and got straight up ribs! I'm just curious how whole ribs (with the bone in) placed between slices of bread is considered a sandwiche? You can't take a bite off that! Sadly the fries were the best part of the meal. Also, they were out of corn nuggets and no dessert prepared. That was my first and last visit.

We got the chicken and rib combo and french fries and a large sweet tea everything was excellent YUM

I don't know who voted this place the best barbecue in Florida but they must have had the munchies. Everything is dry and no flavor. The service isn't very good either. Just go to Burger King instead.

Meat is not cooked, as was the case during my visit 15 years ago. Take care of the food 1st. Sauce is good... Get back to the original recipes. This used to be the best in Jax...
