This review is for the pizza only. I ordered a large Johnnys Italian pie for $25. The pizza looked well made and smelled amazing. The actual eating experience was not on par with what I know NY style pizza to be. I was born and raised there. Went to a high school with a pizza parlor basically next door and would eat there at least once a week. The size of a large pie should be huge. The pie box should be too large to carry with one hand. Each slice should be so big that you HAVE TO fold it in half in order to eat it or else it would just flop down in your hand. There’s supposed to be so much grease from the cheese that as your eating it, it drips from the corner of the crust onto your plate. The crust should be soft and chewy but also thin with a crisp to it. When did large pies become so small? And cost so much? The cheese here is bland and doesn’t stretch. The crust is dry but does have a good flavor. I don’t think it earns the title of NY style pizza overall. To anyone who hasn’t had authentic NY style yet, don’t be misled. It’s just not there. Now with all that being said…It was a decent tasting pie on its own. I would like to see this place work on their crust and use the right type of cheese. Everything else was acceptable.

So I recently just left Johnny's Pizza on Cheshire bridge road. Not only were me and my boyfriend not greeted when we walked in but we took a seat in the dining room because they had chairs on every other table neatly due to covid... The neat chairs on every other table is the only compliment I have for them seeing that first they didn't speak and then we sat there for 10 minutes and no one came to the table to greet or ask us about our order. It was four people behind the counter and two kids in front of the counter on bar stools please note that no kids were wearing masks and they were going back and forth behind the counter so it was obvious that someone brought their kids to work with them I'm not a restaurant expert but I'm pretty sure your kids shouldn't be at your job unless you are the owner even then I don't think they should be there coming back and forth from around the counter where food is prepared maskless. I probably wouldn't make such a big deal about this happening if the business was booming but seeing that it was a deserted atmosphere with only 2 customers I don't see how they have any room to not be greeting or not taking every customer that they can get...

[update August 2022- the place was sold to new ownership sometime in 2021 and my last visit was the first time under new ownership, so I may re-review it again after a few more visits. The original review may no longer by applicable, as many changes are obvious.] Original review from 2015: Ive been eating here 29 years, since I was 7 years old. My Dad was a plumber at a shop that used to be located 3 doors down on Manchester. This is a special place, because it's a legitimate hole in the wall, still owned by the original founding family of Johnny's. It's their 2nd ever location. They make the most consistently good New York style slice in Atlanta. They beat all other Johnny's franchise locations, and everything on the menu is good. Service varies, if I'm honest, but is usually good to great. And I find that the food is always outstanding. All other pizza I try get compared to this exact place.

Since my name is Johnny, of course I would come to eat at this place. I started working at a job right down the road from here, and I’ve come here pretty much every day for lunch. On Tuesdays they serve five dollar pitchers of beer, any kind you want Yuengling, Shocktop, Budweiser, Dos Equis and many more. If I’m not staying to drink beer, I usually call 10 minutes ahead, get my two cheese slices for $4.70, and I walk in and walk out. No line. Quick food. And delicious. The staff know you by name and are really cool ppl. If you get a specialty slice, be forewarned, it’s so loaded with delicious toppings you only be able to eat one slice. I usually save one for dinner and it warms up in the microwave better than any Papa John’s or Little Caesars that I know of. I’ll be looking for you guys on Tuesdays!!

I absolutely LOVE this place! Hole in the wall with great pizza, subs, salads, & NY Italian food! The Johnny's Special sub is where it's at, but the stromboli & bruschetta are pretty great, too! 9 stars out of 5!

Had great expectations with this place, but it is really low key and not so fancy as advertised. The staff here is rude and not helpful. Bill split is not an option here when you are with friends. The pizza isn't top notch and never try their calzone! It was the worst calzone I ever had. Only good thing about this place is their Marinara sauce provided on side. Would never visit again. Good pizza spot where you can grab it to go pizza that’s delicious or hang out outside or inside and have a local beer and enjoy wonderful conversation with your neighbors! The pizza and garlic cheese bread was delicious! Drinks in large cups, Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere wasn't so lively very quiet. They do have outdoor seating as well. The staff was very attentive and we received our order very quickly.

This location in Buckhead reminds me of some run down, old restaurant in Panama City. It was definitely not like any other Johnny's pizza I've been to. I ordered garlic knots because the garlic bread that comes with the lasagna I ordered, tastes like toasted bread with butter on it. No garlic taste. The garlic knots I ordered did not have a garlic flavor at all. I asked them why they don't have any garlic on the garlic knots? Overall, I was disappointed and will not be back to that location.

Johnny's.... Really like this place. As an ex patriated Jersey boy, this place feels like, looks like, and vibes like a pizzeria from back home. The atmosphere is chill. You can sit have a beer and a couple of slices while watching sports on the big screen from a booth seat or barstool. Staff is friendly and the pizza is authentic and reasonably priced. Just a good all around place. Well done guys!

I've been to Johnny's New York Style Pizza many times. But this was my first time visiting this location. The place was not nice on the inside, my food was horrible and the service was just as bad. The server never smiled or looked my way she just said "I'll be with you in a minute." But when a white guy came in after me she was pleasant to him. I felt racial tension while being at this place. I will never visit this place again. And I would not recommend it to anyone.

I go to johnny's on Cheshire bridge about every 3 to 4 weeks and the staff changes about every time I go in. This time I tried to call ahead and run a couple of errands before picking the pizza up. The guy answering the phone said hang on and then promptly forgot about me. I listened to them talk for about 11 minutes before I gave up and went to the store to order. Then I ran my errands. The pizza was great as always and the young lady at the register was apologetic.

Been here twice, and have loved the food so far. The Buffalo pizza is good, but not as good as the Johnny Deluxe. I also had the lasagna which tasted great. Overall, great atmosphere, nice country music, and polite service!

The food was delicious. We especially liked the mini garlic knots with cheese. Our waitress was awesome but with all of this being said the inside of the restaurant needs a complete overhaul! The ceiling tiles really need replacing and the walls could use a coat of fresh paint.

I hadn't been to Johnny's in over ten years. I walk in and the smell took me back! I had the meatball parm and cheese garlic bread. It was sooo dang good!! Then I made the mistake and went to the location on Chattahoochee. I will never do that again. Cheshire Bridge has my business from now on! Delicious!!

We arrive just before closing time on a weekend night when they were cleaning up after a long day. We were cheerfully served and encouraged to remain as long as we needed. We each had a slice and a salad and everything was tasty and affordable. This place has been around for a long time and is a real part of the community. Outdoor seating is available and covered. Great for a slice a whole pizza a sandwich and lots more.

We are from out of town and ate their as family because when I called and asked about a question regarding food allergies, they were very nice and informative over the phone! The pizza didnt disappoint either! Absolutely delicious and served fresh!

I‘m pretty sure that only a very few people in ATL know NYC pizza. I lived there for five years, and I ate the $1, the mom and pop, and the very best. This is better than Domino‘s, but barely. I much prefer Piu Bello. The sauce doesn’t even compare. Eat well.

New York Style Attitudes The server was a nice woman but the cook and manager were very rude. I bought a calzone but the stuffing was still cold. Asked if it could be heated up and the cook gave me 99 reasons why it's couldn't be reheated but said (as if he were doing me a favor) he'd reheat it for me. I can deal with rudeness if the food is 5 star. But in this case neither was acceptable.

As a Jersey boy marooned in Atlanta for college, this is pretty dang good pizza. Reminds me of Villa Rosa pizza from my hometown, including the atmosphere and even restaurant layout. Definitely best I've found so far

I ordered a Bronx Bomber “Italian Dinner” and didnt come with any pasta. Not sure why its called a dinner. Who eats just peperroni and sausage for dinner? Good for a quick slice for a good price! Its a NYC style pizza. I give it 6/10 (in comparison to other pizza places in the area). Update: Also, I want to mention that I appreciate that Jonnys Pizza customer care read those review and care to correct any mistakes or bad experience! I am planning to stop by more this week and write an update!

The service was nice, they were friendly and for a small place I had zero complaints. The beer was good and the PIZZA was delicious. Perfectly seasoned red sauce and white. I wanted to try 2 different pizzas and they happily made it. This place was a great finding and a must try! I was so busy, happy, and hungry I forgot to take pictures.

This little spot isn’t much to look at but I stop for lunch quite often and always find a friendly staff slinging pizza and salads. Nice guys ready to serve you quickly and with a good attitude. The food is good and the atmosphere relaxed. What more do you need?

Great quality food! I ordered off of Uber Eats so I can't comment on the facility, but the food tasted amazing. It's not as greasy as authentic New York Style pizzas are, but it was still good. It definitely competes with pizza places from back where I live. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in Atlanta.

I just had to come say that Johnny’s in Cheshire Bridge is AWESOME. I just started working down the street and I’ve been back twice in a week— the food is THAT good. The servers and employees are also super nice and personable, I definitely see myself going there on my lunch break quite a bit. Appreciate y’all!

My only wish is that this place stay open later to compete with the other not so good late night pizza option up the street.

Pizza was great considering we are in Atlanta, a little too much sauce in my opinion but the sauce was done right. The crust has a good chewy crumb but not quite a NY style thin crust. The arcade takes 2 quarters which is too much for a pizza shop arcade. Ambiance is nice, simple and classic. I will return.

Ordered for delivery. The pizza was PERFECT. I mean perfect. Perfectly cooked. Topping proportions were balanced. The Greek Salad was good. But it is supposed to have Kalamata Olives, and it came with regular black olives. Small thing, but a thing none the less. I will definitely order again. YUM!

Def recommend The Great White pizza. We got the medium size which was plenty for 2 people, 3 slices each. The dough was perfect and the flavor on the pizza was good.

Outstanding service! Had Chicken Parmigiana Sub. It was hot and fresh. My palate was leaping and turning flips as it knows, recognizes and appreciates food that distinctly taste homemade. Was so consumed and totally forgot to take a picture. Will definitely do so on my next visit and review.

Came in Friday night and absolutely fell in love with food and service!! Not sure what other people mean by racial tension but our server Jessica must not have been their server because she is the best server I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! Food get 5 stars and Jessica gets 10!!

This pizza was every bit of OKAY. I’m not from New York but I’m sure this isn’t close to NY style. The best part was the person who took my order was nice and I got a free cup. Wouldn’t order from here again. Step it up guys.

About as close to ny pizza as I’ve gotten outside of nyc. I just moved here 3 weeks ago from Manhattan so it really brought me back home to taste this pizza. The dough taste as if it were made with real nyc tap water. You’d have to be from nyc to understand what I mean by that.

Best pizza in Atlanta. This particular location is way better than the other ones. Not sure why, but I suspect it has to do with the age of the oven, as the seasoning makes the crust turn out perfectly... just the right ratio of crispy and chewy.... fantastic!

Had a small snafu when ordering online (user error). Called the store and the manager was fantastic, fixed everything and rerouted the food to our house. Just great service. Food arrived piping hot. Wish all businesses had their game together like this one!

We tried the Italian pizza and lasagna and everything was delicious, the service was excellent, the staff is very friendly. 5 stars because they made our garlic bread in heart shape and it was the cherry on top for our date. I really recommend this place.

The food is really good. Best pizza in Atlanta. And that comes from an international foodie. Also they make my husband's favorite pizza, and he is a newyorker. That should tell you everything you need to know. Cleanliness is their only major issue.

If you've been to another Johnny's, you pretty much know what to expect. The pizza is solid, and the rest of the menu is always good (especially the tiramisu). They've got good drink specials and a patio, so eating in is enjoyable.

Argumentative waited who was swamped by a very manageable size group of guests. She was rude & my boyfriend, who was starving, said let's not even bother ordering food. Been going to Johnny's for over a decade...that run has ended.

Pizza was delicious. The Italian sausage they used is phenomenal.

EXCELLENT...just as I remember! I think the Cheshire Bridge Rd location is still using the same oven as the first time I visited in 1991. The toughest part is just making up your mind about what to eat...lol.
