WOW, ONE LIE AFTER THE OTHER! You did NOT give my husband an option to schedule a time to fix the leak that mysteriously happened after leaving your shop. For an "honest" shop, you sure have your clients fooled. Mistake also do happen, and it would have been YOUR mistake if I were to have gotten into an accident not knowing my power steering fluid was leaking BUT YOU, the "experienced mechanics" knew and failed to inform me! The one star is deserved given that they fixed the problem I went in there for... HOWEVER, when it comes to customer SAFETY, that is NOT on their list. I took my vehicle in for an A/C repair and before I took it in, I had NO noise to my power steering, and NO LEAK. Those are FACTS! Now the day they fixed my car, NOTHING was told to me about any leak when they called to tell me the issue with my A/C, NO MENTION of a leak when they called to tell me my car was finished, and when I went to finally pick up my car at 5:08pm according to my receipt, STILL no mention of a leak. So I left the lot and the VERY next day I have a nasty sound when I turn the wheel AND a leak underneath my car. When my husband took it back that next morning, they claimed “I” declined those repairs. (Remember, I was never told of any leak, so how can I decline something that was NEVER brought to my attention and given the option to decline or not) Turns out I had a leak in my power steering pressure hose which was noted on my invoice under “Declined Repairs” (which again, I didn’t decline) and it was never told to me over the phone or in person about this leak and what caused it. So I went later in the day after work to ask them myself. The guy at the front, (tall, skinny) apologized that he failed to go over those notes with me. The mechanic who worked on my car said he didn’t notice the leak until he started working on it. The OWNER claims the leak was already there. Not only are they calling me a liar trying to tell me my car was leaving puddles before I brought it in, but MR JOHNSTON was being VERY rude! So I was being told multiple stories as to when they themselves discovered the leak and Cheri lied and said I declined those repairs when I was NEVER given that option and they let me drive off the lot with this BLEEDING POWER STEERING FLUID without having the courtesy to warn me about it except jotting it on the invoice for me to find out myself. The guy at the front desk said he forgot because it was late in the day, the shop closes at 5:30pm. The OWNER said I came after hours when I explained to them I wouldn’t be there till 5:15pm the latest given that I was at work but instead I got there at 5:08pm and MR JOHNSTON claims that’s after hours. I would avoid this auto shop because they certainly DO NOT care about your safety or the carefulness of taking care of your car. I understand I have many miles on my car, I understand that new problems may arise or be discovered while working on ANY vehicle, but for them to not talk to me about a MAJOR issue and not give me the option to schedule a time to fix that issue, is not good auto business to me and therefore, I will NOT be returning. And I give HONEST reviews!

On Monday September 17, 2018 at around 1:00 pm the temperature in phoenix outside was 106 degrees. My vehicle's Air Conditioning all of a sudden started blowing warm, then hot air. I was driving around Phoenix running errands. I'd never been to or used Johnston's before but was aware of them because of their excellent reviews and their central location and signage. I drove there as I was near their shop. I was hoping on the off chance they may be able to schedule to me for an appointment sometime during the week to check my A/C. - I was immediately struck by how clean, nice and comfortable their waiting room was. I spoke with a gentleman who possibly was the owner. I explained what was going on. He asked if I could leave the car, and I said yes. He said they would check the A/C and if needed could service it. I was going to sit in the waiting room, and thought to myself maybe I should call a taxi or an Uber, but before I could sit down, he said to me "do you need a ride somewhere or home"? I was I was surprised because I wasn't even aware they offered rides, and I hadn't even brought the topic up. He then told me they have a shuttle free of charge. Within five to ten minutes I was on may way home in his free shuttle vehicle. I didn't expect to hear back from him until 5:00 pm or so. Within an hour or a little less "Sherry"called and left me a message that my car was done, and ready. When I picked it up, the same gentleman explained that it was low on freon and they gave it an A/C service. The cost of the service was not a shock and right in the ballpark of what he estimated to me for AC service. He explained further details to me about a possible leak, and gave me another estimate if I ever wanted/needed that further looked into. I was so Impressed and awed by this shop, it's owners, and employees. Since it's not far from my residence I will be back, and I will recommend Johnston's Automotive to my friends, co-workers and acquaintances. They were Honest, Fair, Efficient, Friendly and happy. No attitude, no acting like I was bothering them since I showed up without an appointment or even calling ahead. It's obvious by how they treated me, and how they run their business right down to how clean the office, waiting room, bathroom, shuttle vehicle, and parking lot are that they CARE about their reputation and the service they are providing to the customer. Simply amazing Service! I would not hesitate to return or call them if I need any further car repairs. After living in the valley for 31 years, I only wish I'd known of them or tried them before 2018. I will be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! A+++ Gold Star, a 10! You will not be disappointed or sorry. Let’s face it, no one likes car repair bills, but at the very least, make it as best of an experience as possible and work with happy, nice, honest people. My neighbor recommended Johnston’s Automotive Repair to me. Cheri and Mike are completely upfront about explaining all cost of repairs, and totally aware their customers are on a budget. It nice to have trustworthy and professional clarification for what is really needed to be repaired now vs. what we can hold off on and do a little later. I got tired of feeling deceived and overcharges by dealerships. I have four vehicles (work van, personal car, spouse’s car and daughter’s car), all different makes/models and out of warranty. Johnston’s Automotive keeps their Tech’s trained in EVERYTHING. Keeping my cars serviced and running is actually in a way is paying me back. The cost of repairs are so much less and always less than having car payments. I wish everyone my best over at Johnston’s Automotive and appreciate them keeping me and my girls rolling down the road safely. Car trouble is never fun, but if and when it happens, I at least feel like I have found a great shop to use and refer friends to Johnston’s Automotive Repair.

Tl;dr: $120 to run diagnostics on your car. Called and harassed me when I left a bad yelp review because I felt like I was overcharged. I went to Johnston's looking to have my check engine light checked. I knew basically what was wrong by going to Autozone. Johnston's charged $120 to run diagnostics and wanted $1000-1200 to do the repair. I called the next shop on yelp with five stars and was quoted for $375. I left a bad review on yelp because I felt as though Johnston's overcharged for diagnostics. The next day, an employee of Johnston's called to harass me about the yelp post. Basically, her complaint was that it did not accurately reflect the work they did. However, the employee was very obviously not interested in winning my business back, and, instead, seemed to be trying to intimidating me into taking my review down. I updated the review to accurately reflect the work they did, but her harassing call does not change the fact that I felt like they overcharged for diagnostics.

A friend recommended me this place because of their integrity and friendliness, and she was not wrong.I brought in my car for a few repairs that they had diagnosed for me previously, and I mentioned to them my breaks had started to sound really squeaky as well and wanted to see if they needed changing. Turns out my breaks were fine, just squeaky from whoever the previous car owner had do the job. They told me I’d only need to have them done if I wanted to due to the squeaking. I am completely inept when it comes to cars, and if they wanted to, it would’ve been very easy to say “yupp, breaks are metal to metal it’ll be an extra $300”, but they were honest that it was not necessary and I really appreciated that. On top of their integrity, everyone I’ve spoken to there (special thank you to Sherry!) are so kind and genuine which goes such a long way. I will be a returning customer and would 100% recommend. Thank you guys again for everything!

I went in and asked a gentleman by the name of Mike, why the oil change was cheaper with Jiffy Lube (for my particular vehicle), he was honest, and told me straight up that they don't compete with jiffy lube, and they have a bigger selection of the type of (synthetic) oil my car manufacture calls for, while Jiffylube only had one type, and that is information that I found out for myself as well, today. I also decided to go with Johnston's because of their online ratings, and honest aura. I was already impressed, but to top it off, these guys gave me a ride home while they serviced my vehicle, mind you they don't have to do that, at all. I almost said no, but didn't want to be rude. as maybe this their way of going "above and beyond", which they certainly did. I was in awe with their customer service, because it was top notch.Nothing replaces ethics, when it comes to business. I highly recommend them.

Johnston’s automotive is the only place I’ll take my truck to. They worked on it even before I owned it, so I feel like they know it better than I do. They let me know if I really need a service or not and don’t beat around the bush with pricing. They tell it to me straight and I really love that level of honesty. I went in recently to get automatic transmission fluid and axel shifts replaced because I was told it may need to be done. I let them know that I’m planning on selling the truck in 6-8 months and they said, “Nah you’re good, you don’t need to do this, especially if you’re selling it soon. Save the money!” The family run company is so nice and they treat everyone with kindness and respect. Sherri and Dwight, the owners, are wonderful people and their mechanics are super awesome. I highly recommend Johnston’s to everyone who’s looking for above-quality service and an even greater experience.

My Window stopped rolling up and down and Firestone (on Tatum and Shea) told me the motor was broken and that they recommend I replace the regulator as the cords might be tangled and burning the motor up. I kept asking the manager, if the regulator needed to be replaced or not and he just kept circling back to the words "Might" and "recommend" aka sales words and upselling. It was going to take two days for them to wait on a part and cost 789 dollars. After the third circle of trying to get an emphatic answer on if iI REALLY needed a regulator, I paid their 65 dollar diagnostic fee, and I then took it to Johnston's Auto Repair for a second opinion. Dwight, the owner was awesome. He asked specific questions about it, and then called to let me it was just a sensor in the motor and the regulator was fine. A little over 400 dollars and had my car back in a few hours. Forget Firestone. Go to Johnston's.

We have a business with a small fleet (7) a couple blocks away from Johnston's Automotive. All of our vehicles are under factory warranty. Not a problem at J A . Their certified mechanics and car care are recognized by the factories and in no way effect the warranty. We started going to J A early in 2012, mainly because of turn around time at the dealer, for basic service. What we found there was the three F's - Fast, Friendly and Fair. Many of our employees, including myself, now take our personal vehicles to J A for service and repair. Mike and his team will quickly diagnose, repair and charge you a fair price to get you rolling again. In the past couple years I have had them stay open late to finish up when the parts were running late getting there, to providing courtesy rides to and from our home or business. Today I took my Mom to Johnston’s Automotive with her 2008 Toyota Corolla; as she was had concerns with a loud rattling noise. The gentleman that assisted us was extremely helpful, he was able to put her car up on the lift immediately to diagnose the issue. It turns out the heat shield underneath had become loose causing the noise she had been hearing. He was able to have the issue remedied in under 5 minutes and was nice enough to do all of this at no charge. My Mom was so impressed with the service that she received, she will be returning for all future scheduled maintenance and repairs. Thank you so much for your help and kindness today, you really made my Mom’s day! Side note: We attempted to go into Meineke on Osborn prior to our visit to Johnston’s Automotive. Not only was their absolutely no parking, everyone was too busy to acknowledge us never-mind diagnose the issue.

I came to Johnston Auto in a true time of need. My car suddenly seemed to have electrical and engine failure on 51, and I managed to limp along till I ended up at Meineke auto next door (the first place I was able to find). They barely looked at my car and said that my oil was low and I needed a complete engine replacement. This seemed preposterous, and they said I could try checking out someplace nearby if I wanted, but they wouldn't offer anything else. I got the car to chug along to Johnston which was the adjacent parking lot. They were immediately helpful and got to looking at my car within 20 minutes. What I had looked at online seemed to suggest an electrical issue with a ignition coil, which is exactly what they independently diagnosed. They had the car fixed in a few hours, professionally, with excellent service. Couldn't be happier.

I've been a long time customer of JA because I will not trust anyone else with my vehicles. They never do more than what is absolutely necessary. They are friendly and courteous, yet professional, and do excellent repair work. They also advise you if something additional needs to be done and what the cost will be, and get your approval before proceeding to do the work. And if they say something needs to be done, it needs to be done. These folks are the most ethical shop I've ever dealt with and they have my business as long as I live in the state of AZ. my wife's car started acting up a couple days ago. I had to frantically get everything towed from Mesa to Johnston's and then prepared for the worst (engine troubles aren't usually cheap). everyone at Johnston's was excellent at communicating everything with me - called me with every quote and update they had which is very appreciative! they got everything done in a timely manner, didn't even charge us labor for one of the parts (thank YOU!!!) and were completely honest and friendly the entire time! we have used them in the past and will continue to use them because they truly are the best in the area. thank you guys again for everything!!!

I called this company on thursday of last week. I got a flat and hit the curb pretty hard. Had alot of damage to my car. They promptly got me information on a tow truck had my car towed there. They checked out my car gave me the news of how much it would be to have it fixed . Also let me know there might be more repairs. This company is very honest and trustworthy I would DEFFINATLY recommend this company to all my friends and family. Super awesome customer service. They even told me aboiut a snap program that helped me get financed to pay for some of the repairs if your looking for a honest and affordable company this is the place

As always, great service and wonderful people! I am so grateful to Dwight and Sherrie Johnston, for running a truly outstanding repair shop and hiring only the highest quality mechanics. As an older widow, I'm on a very limited income, I always have felt confident that they always keep me apprised of anything that could be a potential problem, without looking for ways to "just tack on more money"to my bill. They truly care about their customers~! Also, I have never seen a mechanic shop that is so clean and well kept...both in the garage and the "waiting room". Hello to all! I hope everyone is having an awesome Summer. I needed to have some car work done on my Lexus RX 350 and chose Johnston's. I'm lucky because the car have been great and it never see's a auto repair shop, knock on wood. I chose this place because it's close and they have done work on my cars in the past. Let me just say they were awesome!!! No fake review here. They got it in early and completed the work and saved me money. So far she run's like a champ and I'm sure it will stay that way. I love Johnston's Automotive I have taken my truck there before and they let you know exactly what you need and what is needed right away. My A/C stopped working yesterday so I called the next day and they got me in right away! I said my A/C was not working to please service it and they called and said I do not need it serviced that it was only a belt that needed to be replaced!! They could have easliy just serviced it, but it wasn't needed. I appreciate their honesty and quick service!!! I will definitely continue taking my truck to them!! The thought of going to a mechanic sucks, but when I came here it was nothing like any other place I had been to. Not only was the staff pleasant and friendly, they treated everyone like family and I witnessed people coming in to ask for help for other car related things (like setting up the radio) and they helped right away. They did not try to upsell me on anything and the oil change was fast and done great, but also the specific mechanical issue I had was quoted without any push to get it done on the spot. Great automotive place! Very honest business that truly cares about you and your vehicle. I took my Saturn in to have my check engine light checked and they told me the vehicle may not be done that day but they could check the vehicle to see what the problem was. I left my car with them and they drove me home. An hour later they told me the issue and had it fixed that day. My vehicle is running superb. Had nothing but a positive experience with this company. Can't compare costs with other shops but happy to find an honest business.

Called some other shops, they said I would have to make an appointment 2-3 days out. Came to Johnstons and they help me within 10 seconds of walking in. The woman at the front desk was awesome, she explained what some of the potential problems could be. They said they would call within 2-3 hours to let me know what they found. She called 45 minutes later and said it was the starter, so they have to order it. They called me 1 hour later and told me my car was ready to be picked up. Fair prices and amazing service, go here.

I am in Phoenix for three days to visit my Uncle, who is dying of cancer and the air conditioning wasn't working when I drove him to Mayo yesterday, which made him even sicker. I called at 5:28 pm yesterday and explained the situation. They squeezed me in at 8:00 am this morning and charged the Freon so my Uncle can be comfortable on our trip out to Mayo today. The price was exactly what she quoted me over the phone. God bless Cheri and her team, they are good people! I wish you all of the success in the world!!

I honestly have never had a better experience with an auto repair shop. They were so knowledgeable right out of the gate and so happy to help. I called around to several shops because I am moving and needed to leave that same day but I had a bad wheel bearing so it needed to be fixed ASAP. Not only did they fix it within a few hours they also were half the price of other shops! Overall amazing experience and I’m actually sad I won’t be able to use them again due to me being out of state. Thank you so much!!

Great Shop, Great Folks! Johnston’s was recommended to me by a neighbor 8 years ago. I have been taking my personal car there since then. I have also gotten approval to service my company car there. I even insist my retired parents take their cars to Johnston’s. This is the only place we take our cars, except for the two times Johnstone’s sent me to the dealer. Once for a recall I did not know about and just recently for a repair that I did not know would be covered by warranty. That’s integrity!

First let me say we have found our go to place for repairing our cars. We have been through it all. We tried neighborhood mechanics and even local mechanics. They were so extremely fast from initially getting the car in to pick up within hours. One of the things I felt was honesty. That's a satisfying feeling especially leaving a mechanic. Because that's my biggest concern. So I reccomend them over and I will be back. It does help that cheri at johnstons is absolutely A plus customer service.

Cheri is the nicest auto repair lady I have ever met! She has saved my life 100 times! If I have a flat tire, engine light, or anything weird she is ALWAYS willing to meet me right away and help me fix my car. She breaks down every detail for me and thoroughly explains what needs to be done and how much each thing will cost. She also is very considerate about me being a student and on a budget. I love that I can trust the work that they do and never feel like they're trying to cheat me.

Johnstons has always been straight up with me about keeping my 86 Suburban running. You have to spend money to get a car repaired, and I prefer to spend my money at Johnston's. The shop faces the street, drive by and look at the Clean Service Bays, recently remodeled front, and service Bays with new equipment. I picked this place 5 years ago based on the appearance of the shop from the street. It didn't hurt that they had a NAPA part sign out front. I recommend Johnston's Automotive.

Johnston’s is the best auto shop around! Very honest and no pressure. My girlfriend takes our cars here and these people have never steered us the wrong way. In the past we have taken our cars in knowing exactly what was wrong or not wrong to see whether or not shops in the nearby area were honest. Johnston’s was the only one that didn’t try to screw us over. Great team they have here, highly recommend especially for women who tend to get taken advantage of at many shops.

My experience at Johnston's auto repair was great. I truly feel like I paid a fair price for the service performed on my vehicle. I took my car to another shop before Johnston's and was quoted double what I paid with Johnston's. Cheri and the whole staff there are great! They got me right in and kept me comfortable while I waited for my oil change. At the end they let me know of some issue that could arise in the future but put no pressure on me to pay now or to rush getting things fixed which I appreciate not feeling like I'm being sold like so many other shops would do. The absolute best shop I've ever been to, nice understanding humans! Lol, didnt get the vibe that they were trying to get over on me at all, they actually saved me money, i was told at another shop that i would have to pay $899.00 to fix the overheating issue with my chrysler 300 and was charged $423.00 by Johnston auto, so yea, they most definitely saved me some money, when every other situation i had going on was taking it lol. I do recommend this place

I initially went to Ford on Camelback for a diagnosis and quote for a brake problem (I knew it was a failed brake booster). Left the car with them at 8.40am. I returned at 5.30pm and they had not done the diagnosis as they were 'too busy' that day. Took the car to Johnston's at 8.15am next day. Diagnosis and quote done on the spot. Had the car back by 3.30pm that day. WOW what fantastic services and such nice people. I highly recommend them.

Needed an estimate on my vehicle's A/C maintenance. Eric was happy to help me out. Gave me a quote, I shopped around via web. Others shops were too far, out of price range, or I've had issue w/ them and just don't trust the work. Called them back and set up my appt. Dropped off my car early and they were done before noon. A/C is back to normal. Just met Eric but other employees had smiles and said hello. I'd recommend this shop to anyone.

Cheri and team were absolutely phenomenal! I brought my 2011 Shelby GT500 in thinking I had major motor issues including a blown Head Gasket. They were quick to diagnose a bad Throw Out bearing and presented several options for me! Super fast, super friendly. Owner even took the time to show me the parts that failed. And btw, shop is so clean you could eat off the floors! Very professional, very knowledgeable team all around!

Strongly recommend the team at Johnston’s. Have worked with Mike and Dwight and appreciate how they worked with me on a repair. Brought the car in and fixed an issue with our A/C. Unfortunately there was another/different issue and the problem returned. When I brought it back they fully addressed the issue and helped me out on the cost of the repair. Dropped my car off in the morning, parking lot was packed and every bay had a vehicle being worked on. I was told they most likely wouldn't be able to look at it until the following day. By 4pm the same day I was back on the rode! This is my second experience with Johnston's and could't be more pleased. My ac is not working so great so I will be making a trip to my now favorite garage soon. Consider me a regular.

I have been a customer of theirs since 2012. I have had a variety of work done by them from oil changes to air conditioning and brake repair. They are honest and fair. Once, when I took my car in for a routine oil change, I had driven so few miles since the last oil change they said I didn't need to change oil. Another shop might have changed the oil and taken my money. Not Johnston's! I highly recommend them.

I've been going to Johnston's ever since they correctly diagnosed a strange knocking or pinging noise coming from my engine. One shop told me I needed a new engine and on a whim I stopped at Johnston's for a second opinion. They found a cracked lower fan belt pulled that was making a noise when it flexed at higher RPMs. The repair bill was around $80, a helluva sight less than a new engine.

Made an appointment this morning for a slow leak. The pace who changes my oil couldn’t see the issue and recommend I go somewhere to get a dunk test done. Was in and out in 15 minutes after they plugged the hole from a screw that was clearly in it. Cleanest auto shop I’ve ever been in with the nicest staff. Called in day the before got an appt for the following day. Had a couple different issues to get fixed on my vehicle they took a look at it and were able to get the parts to fix it. Took a little over a day to complete because there was a part they purchased that was broken so they had to return the part for a new one. Overall good service. Nice people.
