Ordered 2 meals for a total of $24.80 on their website. No ingredients listed or photos of the dishes. I Got a text saying wait was 15 mins. Went into the store 18 minutes later after struggling to find a close park available ( I ordered at 8:50, many parallel parking spaces available depending on time) the food was already waiting for me :) Man at counter barely acknowledged me, I didn’t want to interrupt him because I thought he was busy but after a few weird looks I realised he was waiting for me to talk first. Bit awkward and a customer service no no. He was neither rude nor friendly during the interaction, just a bit neutral and annoyed to be there. He put the change in my hand and that was it. (To be fair I ordered take away for the food not the customer service so I’m just gonna ignore it in my personal final verdict) The food was a bit warm but not at all hot when I got home ( I live 5 minutes away) my meal was cold shortly after beginning eating but I put it in the microwave ( easy fix, can’t really complain) The beef and vegetable noodles ($15.80) came in seperate containers. The noodles were hard ( to be softened with the second half of the beef meal) but there was nowhere near enough sauce or liquid to soften the surface of the noodles let alone the whole container. Decent and reasonable sizes, very impressed with the proportions and will definitely have for tomorrows lunch and dinner. Flavour was good, a little average but I definitely enjoyed the meal and would eat it again, there was not really many veggies so take that as a positive or a negative depending on your preferences. The only true main concern was with the special friend rice. ($9) Very yummy, a little big eggy but I like that in a fried rice. Then I stumbled upon something a little disturbing. Early into my friend rice there was a weird hard and crunchy texture but I didn’t really think anything of it…. Until I found literal egg shell in my food. With egg still attached. egg shell I guess is edible and the ingredients aren’t listed on the website so I almost let it slide except for the fact that it was big. Double the size of my nail and definitely would’ve been bigger if I hadn’t munched on it without realising earlier. I still ate the rest of the fried rice tho, it wasn’t the best I’ve tasted but for $9? yes please and Thankyou !!! ( minus the egg shell )

Rubbish restaurant bad service that I never have!!! If you are a boss and you care about your customers, you should read this Please ! First of all, I was waiting at the door to be seated. Your female employee was at the counter and stared at me very rudely and said "halo" to me. Then she asked me how many people there were and I said 6 people and took me to a small round table by the window. We were allowed to sit on only 2 stools. I was surprised that there were so many tables and we were allowed to sit on this one. I sat down around 9 o'clock, so there were only 5/6 customers there. Second, I won’t mention the bad attitude your employees have when ordering our food! With a look of disdain on my face, I can bear it, it’s okay. After ordering, I asked you if these meals were enough to place on this table. The male employee also said very rudely that you should only order these items. It will definitely be enough! In the end, we actually spent more than half an hour waiting for our meal to come out. I didn't understand why we were asked to wait until we got impatient. Then we explained to us that it was a little late because the chef was eating. What I am most dissatisfied with is the middle-aged man with glasses and bald hair and the girl in black.

I’ve been eating from this restaurant for a few times. Ow and I haven’t received any good service up to now. The food is good but the staff must learn to communicate with good manners. They have been kinda rude towards me even if I have been very kind and respectful. Also last time I ordered from this and I wanted to change the order 5 seconds after I made it and they said they can’t as they have already started cooking. I asked the cashier to go and check and he just went to the kitchen side and came back without even asking I saw it with my own eyes. Also please don’t buy the fried noodles they have if you don’t want it to be CRISPY fried noodles like chips. It is very misleading. They should name it crispy fried noodles and not fried noodles as fried noodles means something else like fried rice. But I’ve seen them treat the Asian customers well (I’m not pointing out anything). Just a bit of respect, flexibility and clear menu should be great. The food then again is good!
Came into this restaurant with no expectations. We went in for takeaway when it's not as busy on a dinner service. We waited for 20mins and we asked about our food but they gave us "15mins" as a reply. During the time we waited for our 3 dishes, there were already 4-5 set of groups or family that went in and sat to their tables. One of the families there that came in 15mins after us got their food already. I understand that it was busy and gave us "short staffed" excuse. I would understand if our food came out at the same time as those people who recently sat but it wasn't the case. Took us 50mins to get our take away CRAZY! If I could give 0 stars I would but I'll give 1 star since we actually got our food. Wouldn't even dare to come back. I'd suggest looking at another Chinese restaurant with better quality service and communication and not giving false timing like "15mins". The restaurant is running on a different timezone.
Kambo Chinese Restaurant is a traditional Cantonese restaurant in Forest Hill, Melbourne. It is a family-friendly restaurant with good consistent quality. The restaurant has many fish tanks with plenty of live seafood. The manager, Jason Fong, is always friendly and attentive to customers' needs. However, when the restaurant is busy, the staff can get overwhelmed, and service can drop. Overall, Kambo is an excellent restaurant with authentic Cantonese Chinese food, which is increasingly difficult to find in Melbourne.

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The service was appalling - the waiters were uninterested and unfriendly. The food was very slow to come out of the kitchen, even though the restaurant was not particularly busy. After two hours, we had only been served three dishes. During the entire meal, none of the staff bothered to explain the reason for the delay or show any concern for our experience. To make matters worse, one of the dishes had a piece of plastic in it, which was a major health hazard. Overall, this was a completely unpleasant dining experience and I would not go back or recommend it to anyone else.
Very nice. Crowded. Live fish and lobsters etc in tanks in the entrance. Food very nice and lots of it. We had a banquet B for 7 of us and it was xlnt. We were full by the end. Just a bit hard trying to get noticed by staff, but any staff member would attend to our needs. But they were very busy but very efficient.

V poor experience....Had a supper last nite there...ard 11pm..waiter came n cleared the plates n cutlery. Abt 30 mins later...we decide to have some more food n ask for menu. Waiter tot we are done n gave us the bill. We said we wanna order more food so waiter came back w menu n said we shd have stop them fr taking away the cutlery earlier. So we said we didnt know..but he kept saying we shd have told him earlier. Customer cannot change mind n order more food??? Even the manager seem to say we r in the wrong... of course we got agitated n no more appetite ...will never be coming back

Had a booking for 8 people today. Failed to deliver food in timely manner. Longest waiting time ever for us in Chinese restaurant. Over 30 minutes for waiting 3rd dish. Waiting staff did a great job serving table but manger not interested in listening my feedback about the delay in serving food. Disappointed paying $400 and my friends haven't had a good dinning experience...
Customer service is horrendous! Booked for dinner and we waited about 10 minutes for someone to approach us to ask us for our booking and the manager was very rude about it. When he took our order all he would say was “yep” and he was super blunt when questions were asked. Food arrived quite fast which was good but customer service is terrible and especially the managers.
I live around the corner and have never had a good experience here. But decided to try again seeing as it's been years since I last ordered food. Same unfriendly faces and horrible service. They serve who ever pushes to the front of the line. They don't care that you are orderly. Or that you are first in line. Don't bother. It will ruin your night.
Customer service is atrocious. Online food menu differs greatly from actual menu, especially in terms of prices, where it is at least $5 more expensive per dish. Minimum spending of $20 per person, where it is not reflected anywhere on website. Please be honest if you are doing business, and would like the business to last. Never going back again!
One of the few remaining Cantonese restaurants who still have cooks who came from Hong Kong. They do not open for lunch. Thus, they specialise in dinner and late supper and opens up to 2 am. Excellent authentic food with good service. Highly recommended

Came here for CNY's eve dinner and really enjoyed the meal. Good Cantonese style cooking with good ingredients. Really happy with the service of the waiters and waitresses where you can see a smile on their face unlike many others in Chinese restaurants that looks like we 'owe them'. Keep it up!
The menu shows our Lobster Banquet for 4 had a discounted price of $278 (reduced from $288) but when making payment, was told that the discount was for CASH ONLY & inapplicable for CARD payment despite the fact that words to the effect 'cash only' weren't expressly stated in the menu...
We were surprised when we walked in as this Chinese restaurant is packed on this Sunday night ! The salt and pepper Chinese noodle fish we ordered is very delicious and reasonable big serve. Service is quick and good too. Recommended !

I'm not one for reviews but this place deserves 5 stars! Took my mum here for mothers day and the service and food were great!! Ordered the banquet for 2 and everything was staggered perfectly and tasted delicious. Definitely recommend Kambo Forest Hill for any occasion …
Food was reasonable but the service was terrible. Manager that served us was very sarcastic and rude when we didn't take his advice on the recommendation to order 3 dishes instead of 2. Bad experience and will never visit this restaurant again.
My parents and moving to Forest Hill and my mum and I came for an early dinner one day after moving things to the new house. I was surprised how good the food quality was and the service was fantastic. Can’t wait to try more dishes.
The food here is really traditional Cantonese style, amazing seafood and really fresh vegetable dishes. Highly recommend the fried prawns served with a preserved egg yolk topping, and the scallops with garlic and vermicelli noodles.
Nice Cantonese dishes. Authentic.

Ordered singapore fried noodles for take away , what I get is singapore fried sprouts! Ton of sprouts , nearly can taste the noodles. Taste was not really ok. Will never come back again , rather drive to box hill.
Been to this joint a few times in the last 20 years. Consistent and great prices for a Chinese restaurants. As with Chinese restaurants you don't come here for great service. Eat and get out!!!!!!
It's a perfect place for cantonese Hong Kong dishes. I like their scallop fried rice and the homely style of service. It's not too big and not too small. Very well located and plentiful car park.

Long established business that traditional Cantonese food. I don't think they've updated their menu for over 10 years. Nothing wrong with good, honest traditionally cooked food.
Do yourselves all a favour and get down here for a supper Great for a late night feed Been the place to go for many many years and will always come everytime I'm in melbzzz :)
Very busy on weekends. Food is decent. Would love to order from the asian menu but unfortunately i can't read it. Frequented by many asian families so they must rate it!
Terrible service. The guy wearing glasses at the cashier was very rude towards me when I placed order for take away. Will not recommend this place to anyone!

I felt racially profiled. From the looks given from the host and the reluctance to give us a table yet there were many free tables. Very disappointing
Food is below average, service is terrible, they must own this piece of real estate, without offering lunch, don't know how they survived the long.

Chicken and pipi were not refresh and tasted very bad. Every watermelon slice has soil on it. They probably don’t even wash their ingredients.
Food was just ok...not really authentic guangdong food. We ordered beef, lamb, chicken, they all tasted similar as they used the same sauce...
Seafood tastes good. The scallop, fish and prawn are fantastic. But the cheesy calamari is too fusion and is not to my liking though.
Great place for seafood and holding a function in the private room. Ps you going to have fun on chinese new year if you are there.
Great Chinese restaurant in the area with a lot of fresh seafood available.

Great cantonese cuisine in Forest Hill. A breadth of fresh air from all the other northern chinese food in the eastern surburb.
No need to go to box hill for a late night supper. Kambo is the place and the standards are way higher. Reasonable price
very authentic Cantonese cooking. Would recommend to anyone looking for a real Chinese dining experience
