My experience at the Lido Clifton Pool in Bristol left me with a sense of polite disappointment. The staff, I must say, were truly exceptional in their friendliness and assistance. However, it's essential to mention that the overall cost-benefit ratio falls a bit short of expectations. The premises, while charming, lacked a dedicated space for relaxation, leaving guests without anywhere to chill. The main pool's temperature also left something to be desired, leading everyone to crowd into the small hot tub for warmth. On a positive note, the showers were a highlight, offering a refreshing and clean experience. The availability of luxurious robes added a touch of luxury and comfort to the visit. The cleanliness of the facility itself was commendable. The real star of the show was the on-site restaurant, which provided an incredible dining experience, truly setting itself apart. In summary, the Lido Clifton Pool, while not without its limitations, remains a lovely spot for some relaxation, featuring excellent staff, top-notch showers, and a dining experience that is simply unforgettable, even if the overall value for money could be improved.

I never normally write reviews but was looking forward to this for ages and felt we got a poor deal for the £100 for two of us for the swim and dine package. Staff were incredible, and menu seemed well rounded but unfortunately the food just didn’t taste great. burnt meat, bitter veg, undercooked beans, sloppy sauce. Really recommend revisiting some of the dishes. Sent back charcoaled lamb and got sent another piece that was bitter and really tough to eat. Pool was too cold to swim in - which could of been our fault for not checking if heated but presumed for the £50 swim and dine it would be able to muster barely a length and sauna and hot tub were so packed we could barely access so the two hours before we spent most of the time hanging around. The place is beautiful, the staff lovely,

Went with my husband for a 2 hour swim and dine after experience. Absolutely stunning! Be prepared for the outdoor pool as it is definitely kept at a chillier temperature than I anticipated (I felt fine but my husband couldn’t handle it even for one lap) so we alternated the steam room, sauna, and hot tub for the duration which is utterly delightful! There was also an ice bucket which I found great fun! Then the meal was absolutely delicious! My husband says he felt like a “class traitor” for it it was just all around a stunning experience and we’ll be coming back (when it’s warm again so husband can try the swim again).

Over priced and over rated. Wouldn't return. Definitely not a 'spa' vibe, more for training/fitness swimming. Inside changing rooms were stuffy and smelt of stagnant water, the facilities weren't clean or well kept. Positive, staff on reception in the spa were lovely and friendly. Food and restaurant didn't pull it back. I had fish which was tough and over cooked. Definitely could have so much nicer near by, for a fraction of the price. I couldn't even say you pay for the vibe/atmosphere. The whole experience didn't feel quite right, we definitely felt it was a let down and wouldn't be returning to waste £170 on a freezing cold swim and average food.

We were given a voucher for Christmas for a swim, treatment and lunch. Well, our very wet journey to the Lido was depressing but as soon as we stepped inside the sun started to shine. With a choice of swimming, time in the hot tub, having a sauna or sweating it out in the steam room we were spoilt. Then it was a full body massage for me and a facial for the wife. After our treatments and a short relax we were into a tapas style lunch. Accompanied by a large glass of wine we have a hearty meal. Thanks to everyone for their service.

I’m a member here, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you are made to feel particularly welcome when you dine. Businesslike greeting/seating experience today when we arrived (for my birthday meal out), and at the end when I was a little late to mention my membership at point of payment so we could benefit from the 10% off the bill, the irritation and embarrassingly loud admonishment from the waitress directed at me was unacceptable. I love the pool and the food and some of the staff are great. The rudeness I experienced today was a huge disappointment and ruined the end of the meal for me.

Absolutely brilliant place! Very unique having a swimming pool next to the restaurant. We were inspired to visit this place after seeing it on the program 'remarkable places to eat'. The food was excellent and definitely lived up to the standard we were expecting. For starter we had the sourdough bread and the wood roasted scallops. For mains we had the wood roasted blue lobster with orzo pasta, slow roasted moroccan lamb, and the vegetable mezze. For dessert we had the dark chocolate mousse with almond praline, the burnt cheesecake with cherries, and the coconut sorbet and chai ice cream. Service was friendly and quick. We really enjoyed our night and we will hopefully be coming back again!

Went with my friend as she was given two tickets as a birthday gift, the staff was lovely and gave a quick tour, we had lockers to put clothes in and showers and changing rooms. The lido has a steam room, pool, sauna and Jacuzzi. I am giving a low rating because it was a grey day and rainy, the website advertised that it's a heated pool of constant 22-25 degrees Celsius but this pool was not heated, it was chilly. We lasted 15 mins in it. So we used the Jacuzzi which was nice and warm, steam room and sauna was also lovely, we ended up spending an hour instead of two hours because you can't spend a long time in those facilities. We didn't eat there

Very good kitchen, nice cold swimming pool and hot sauna. Steam room and jacuzzi are fine. Best Devon scallops Ive ever taste. My partner and I had a nice lunch and two hours of using the facilities. The swim and lunch costs £80. I think the stuff shouldn't ask for extra service fee of 12% as it is a gift voucher. The changing room system is different, the locker and the changing room are separated and too far away from eachother. Be prepared to take off you clothes in the changing room and then bring it to a locker which is located next to the main entrance. Still a nice and cosy place. Unfortunately the membership option is on hold because its fully booked.

Seen the Lido on "Remarkable places to eat" when Bristol was featured. Look hard because it's down a side street, so you may have to ask a local. Absolutely loved the pool, spotlessly clean and well maintained. But a bit chilly until you get used to it, so keep moving. Lovely hot tub and sauna even though we went in on one of the hottest days. Booked lunch and had a fantastic flat bread with tomato and basil salad, anchovies and hummus. Extremely well presented with "spot on" service. The staff are fantastic. Not been yet?? Then I suggest that you go.

Visited in the evening in the restaurant. Very lively, pleasant place overlooking the pool. Service was perfect and the food outstanding. We had scallops for starters and they were in a delicious dressing. Lobster came with divine fries. The monkfish and seafood in rice was perfect. Some very good flavours going on. Watching the swimming going on below us was such an unusual setting. We all loved it all.

Far too many people for the size of the place. We couldn't use the sauna as it was full for the entirety of our 2 hour session. The steam room and hot tub only seat 6 or so people and again was incredibly busy. The pool was much cooler than expected and difficult to swim due to busyness. Some seated areas to relax would be nice while waiting for facilities if busy. We even had to wait to shower and loo after our time at the lido!! The cafe was lovely though with friendly staff and great coffee.

A beautiful oasis of calm. The pool is lovely, small but with three clear designated lanes for differing speeds - some swimmers clearly want a good workout while others just want a little splash, all are welcome. There is also a hot tub, a sauna (I think) and a spa. I went to the restaurant for breakfast and the food was fabulous: really tasty, beautifully presented, and very reasonable priced. Sitting under a canopy right next to the pool, the water gently lapping, it was so relaxing! Would recommend to everyone - even if you don't want to swim, it's a lovely place to eat.

Fantastic lunch at the lido. Lovely atmosphere and easily the best experience I’ve had with a restaurant catering to my dietary restrictions (low FODMAP). Complete flexibility and plenty of choice. The food was delicious too. Thank you!

Having phoned in advance, the staff had made the effort to mark up the menu with options they could tailor to my needs (low FODMAP). Hugely appreciated.

Service was awesome, staff was friendly and recommended us some really good food and wine. The seafood were really fresh so it would be nice if the sauce was separated, that way you can savour the freshness of the fish. My cabbage was ‘chargrilled’ but it was kinda burnt actually. Everything else was delicious especially the honeycomb and rum raisin ice cream. They were so good!

Very nice evening atmosphere in the restaurant overlooking the pool. For three people the bill was £208.69 (discretionary service 12.5% reckoned in) and this included 1 bottle of Malbec, a rum, 2 starters (scallops) and 3 mains (lamb, crab), dessert and some sides. Food was tasty, but budget for the occasion, and it's a pleasant evening out.

Unique spot for a swim, sauna and food and drink. We ate in the restaurant which was excellent - Spanish /Turkish menu and delicious. We booked a day spa including a treatment. The front of house staff as the masseurs were very good, lovely jacuzzi, and relaxation room was welcome. Pool was a bit too cold for my liking but perhaps more geared for serious swimmers. All in a very relaxing day to to a well run, well maintained and stylish setting. Would definitely return.

Tough one. I often pop in here for a drink with friends as it's an amazing place, however I've recently had food here and I just wasn't impressed. I had the toughest bit of pork belly I've ever been served. It was also not very hot at all. Maybe it was just an off-day, I will try it again soon but I'm not holding my breath.

What an absolute delight! Went for early lunch and bagged a poolside table with cover on a very sunny day. Lunch is tapas-style. Most dishes were really tasty, the exception being the courgette based one, hence not quite 5 star for food. Still, a complaint led to it being removed from bill without asking.

Birthday treat with a friend. We did swim and lunch package which was £40 per person. Pool was ok temperature but quite busy and not the biggest. However, we had a sunny day and pool was nice to cool down in. Sauna & steam rooms were nice and jacuzzi was super warm! The food was divine and would recommend as above afternoon treat.

I read a review that said it left a feeling of polite disappointment and to be honest I think this is the perfect summation of my experience here. Everything feels crowded and a bit lack lustre. It certainly doesn't match up to it's sister venue in Reading at all - which considering the prices are the same is a shame. I would definitely take the extra drive to go there instead.

The Lido is obviously lovely, even in the colder months, the pool is a good size and reasonably cool to allow for comfortable swimming, the sauna is spacious and a good temperature to warm up. In the summer the honeysuckle by the jacuzzi is lovely and when it rains swimming feels even better. Especially like the signage!

We dinner on the upper level with views of the lido and the kitchen. The food was delicious, service was good, the desert menu is original for example rhubarb sorbet and elderflower ice cream. Fundamently it's a very good restaurant, the setting is original and adds to the experience, I really enjoyed this and strongly recommend

Really liked this restaurant, literally next to a swimming pool, actually looks pretty cool at night time. Highlight here is the food! Despite have a big table, food came at the right pace and every thing was spot on, flavours and done-ness. The venison that day I went was impeccable. Also the Lido beer was pretty nice as well.

  • Toby Rudling

Absolutely lives up to the reputation. The pool is perfectly heated, not too hot and not too cold, the hot tub is wonderful, and the sauna and steam are divine. The staff are friendly and cheerful, and the service is excellent. Food is divine, would completely recommend!

Quirky and classy at the same time. Great service, great food and above all great facilities. Hot tub, Sauna, Steam room, 25m pool, pool side bar, restaurant. Even the pool side changing rooms each have their own shower. What more could you want?!

Fantastic location overlooking the Lido swimming pool, in the evening sun. Staff were very good, knowledgeable and friendly. The menu had plenty of meat, fish and vegetarian options. Cocktails were great, slightly unusual and hit the spot.

Got the swim and dine package. Atmosphere was lovely with the pool and spa and open courtyard. Changing rooms and lockers are separate which was different. It was nice to move between the sauna, pool, hot tub, steam room and back again

Delicious! Great service as always. However, I found the paella a bit underwhelming - It lacked salt and needed a bit more spice & flavor. My luck for choosing the special, nevertheless my lamb & sweetbread starter was excellent. More
