"I come to the store about once a week, it’s not always the best stocked, and sometimes has expired items on the shelf, but the staff are nice and it’s convenient if you’re in the area (and has EV Go chargers, which I appreciate!) I come to the store about once a week, it’s not always the best stocked, and sometimes has expired items on the shelf, but the staff are nice and it’s convenient if you’re in the area (and has EV Go chargers, which I appreciate!) I would have given it more than two stars—IF NOT for the review I just read below, which was apparently written by a woman/reviewer named Joanna. To Joanna: I am *so* sorry that that has been happening to you at this store. I don’t know you, but that is cruel, upsetting, and totally inappropriate/unprofessional for a store employee (or just a random stranger human being, in general) *anywhere* to be behaving like that. I genuinely hope that management takes note of your review, and of the situation, and disciplines the staff member appropriately… Because that is *really* not cool… She needs to mind her own business and stop worrying about you and your husband! Ffs. Best wishes to you. I hope that you start feeling more like yourself soon. I appreciate your openness and honesty in speaking up for yourself. BUT—if you feel comfortable with it, IMHO—maybe consider speaking with a store manager there about it? Just to address it directly—because nobody should be treating another person like that—let alone a customer. Good luck. PS: Also, just remembered: I recently bought a couple small-ish cakes (but *not* inexpensive! IJS, wow Lucky is kinda pricey when compared to competitors & quality) from the bakery for my son’s bday, and I gotta be honest…! Frosting was WAY too sweet.. and that says a *lot* coming from me, what w/ my sweet !And perhaps worse yet—the cake was super dry. Pls check freshness/general QC/expiration dates, for all of your products. TYVM!!
Margie at the checkout at 12 noon is very nice. She has a friendly attitude and is always helpful with doing an override when the machine doesn’t work. Wish the Lakeshore store has employees like her, maybe I wouldn’t be so aggravated every time I shop there. Thanks Margie. You are a diamond in the sand. She exemplifies a model team member. Lucky is privileged to have her on their team. 9-15-23 at 1:25 PM the self check out clerk, heavy set with black hair and braid pushed to her side, around 30ish, wore a black shirt, Caucasian, told me I can get a reincheck tomorrow. I returned next day at 11:40 AM, 9-16-23 the same fat self check out clerk denied me the reincheck for the Perrono sauce. Bad customer service. Don’t jerk me around telling me to return the next day! You need to keep your word and follow through with your commitment. This store sucks just as bad as the Lakeshore one. You lose credibility when you don’t keep your word and promise. We’re not here for you to jerk us around! I used to have a high regard and respect for this store. Since this experience, my high regard for this store has gone down the toilet bowl. The team needs to be retrained in good customer service which includes KEEPING YOUR WORD and following through what you say you will do! I know Peet’s Coffee did. They promised me the free anniversary coffee. The next day I called back and they gave it to me and they no longer give free coffees just points but since they promised me the previous day, they kept their word. Maybe this store should model after Peet’s Coffee, then maybe they’ll get positive reviews!!! This store’s team and mgr. are unprofessional.
My wife and I recently shopped at the ALAMEDA store located on Marina Village Pkwy. and as always we found what we wanted with no problems, the store was clean, the employees were kind and helpful, even the on sale items were priced just right for us. We had just left Our Sunday Morning Worship Service before coming to Lucky's. Upon check out I was compelled to ask the clerk#103083 if she was having a good day? She replied "so far so good". I responded saying " we just got out of Morning Worship Service and it was great". That's when the clerk stated that she and other employees WERE NOT ABLE TO ATTEND WORSHIP SERVICE DUE TO CERTAIN COMPANY GUIDELINES. I asked the clerk if she was kidding around? she replied NO I AM NOT. I am a Minister and I LOVE THE "LORD". In 2016 here in California I don't WANT to believe that employees are being subjected to being DENIED the opportunity to FELLOWSHIP AND WORSHIP where they choose, EVEN IF ITS DURING THEIR EMPLOYERS WORK DAY HOURS. I am not sure what your company's policy is on allowing employees their right to worship whenever and whatever their RELIGION is but what I do know is that "we like shopping at Lucky's and will continue and I'd LOVE to see you in Sunday Morning Worship Service. PEACE
The store is very clean and has a large selection, but the prices are higher than Safeway and customer service was awful. The associate monitoring the self checkout was not helpful, rude and acted like I wasn't worth her time. She definitely should not be working in the self checkout area, where people skills and good customer service are necessary. I had to ask her 3 times how to become a member so I could get rewards and sale prices because the screen was waiting for me to enter a phone number. She gave me short responses, but wouldn't answer my question. Finally she says "just go on the website at the bottom of the receipt". After I paid the machine started blinking and said I needed assistance, but of course she didnt explain the machine jammed with my change in it, or offer to help, or even get up from her station. She yelled to an associate at the next register to come help me instead. After reading some of the reviews for this store, I realized other customers had negative experiences with the same associate! This was my first experience with the store, but it made me want to avoid going back!
weird to leave a review about a chain grocery store, but every experience i have here is always something so i felt like i should just leave one. the vibe here is very... dark? literally. the lighting is so dark! i also always feel like im in the 70s or something when im here because a lot of things are outdated. there never seems to be enough cashiers, and when you do get to one.. they seem very..... upset to be working there. probably a sign that management doesn't treat them too well. i dont know.. everytime we have to come here, we try to think of alternative places or if we "really have to" because it's just so depressing to come here! a bummer considering its the only bigger chain grocery stores in this area.
Used to have lower prices but now they're extra high. Just paid $5 for a $3 jar of pasta sauce elsewhere. Oh and the self checkout often scans prices wrong, always in the store favor. Doesn't apply the yellow sale sticker prices, they claim it's an "error" but it happens constantly. Seems like a store scam tbh. The freezer cases don't freeze well so wouldn't recommend buying any frozen food with meat in it. Also usually 1-3 out of 5 self checkouts are out of order. Annoying amount of shoplifting and panhandling right out the entry door. Employees are nice though. Even less useful now that they closed the pharmacy. Maybe it was a lot nicer 10 years ago, I can't believe this store is averaging 4 stars.
I love this store it’s conveniently located. I have had two experiences with the same worker, Karla. She has worked in self checkout and the two times I have needed her help she has giving me a hard time. I understand customer service isn’t for everyone but with my own experience in this field. I could say I will never make a customer feel like they aren’t valued and they are our priority. She has such a demeanor that makes customers feel uncomfortable and not appreciate. Karla needs to work on her customer service stills and put her negativity aside when in work hours. Overall I love this store but these experiences really have made an impression on me and that’s why I rate it low.
i was there doing self check out and i paid 25 cents for a bag, as most experienced shoppers are you know that when you do self check out it just asks you how many bags you'll need and if you accept the charge of 25 cents per bag. well after paying i tried to get a plastic bag but this lady tried refusing to give me plastic and instead tried giving me paper saying if i wanted plastic i should have chosen plastic and i corrected her by informing her that it doesn't give you the option between paper and plastic and if that's something customers are supposed to do then put that option at the kiosks because it doesn't offer people the choice between paper or plastic.
I only shop here because it’s very convenient and I don’t want to drive to the grocery store. 2 stars is generous, because it’s usually clean and the people working there are very nice and helpful. The quality and value of the food is decent to low. They frequently run out of baskets, and put them in different places, so you either need to bring your own or spend time searching the store for one. The store will randomly be out of items like milk, various kinds of produce, bread products, and condiments. If you’re looking for something less common, like bread crumbs, have fun finding them- things move around! Always an adventure at this regrettable store.
The store itself is great and has great prices but every time I go in there the lady working self checkout the short older Asian lady with blonde hair is just so incredibly rude. I try to be so polite to her and she will either ignore you give you a scowl or tell you you are doing something wrong. I get that working in a grocery store is not that fun but it's not like you're not getting paid. Not just once, consistently every time I try to speak with her she's very rude. I am a regular for the low prices but that one lady always makes me consider spending more at falettis just to have a cashier who doesn't look at you like you're a massive inconvenience
The weekly ad is very deceiving & after questioning "buy 5 save $5 mix & match " I feel its deliberately written in a way to trick consumers. If u don't buy in quantity of 5 u won't get the sale price for the advertised item i.e. 1st 5 items u get sale price but if u buy 4 more sale items its regular price instead of being able to get all 9 items @ sale price.Very irritating & confusing how can u keep count of a mix & match offer with a basket full of groceries. I can't & I'm a shopaholic but I won't be shopping this sale offer & probably won't be going back to this store anytime soon except to get specific items.
I had the best experience with an employee named Sherman. Grocery stores are grocery stores, pretty much the same. It is the employees that make the difference. They didn't have all of what I wanted. Sherman tried to get us a discounted price. He tried to place an order for us. He even said he would come in on his day off, which of course I would never have him do. But because of Sherman, I felt very special. The store is twice as far as Safeway which is a pain during the times that I am not using the bus. But people like Sherman will make me come back.
This place is very racist. They think everyone of color steals. Even when we are in our church clothes with bible in hand.I have been assaulted 3 times by men once by security when asking for help when I was being harrased whil I was on a cane. I have been harrased so many time in this store to the point I had to ask for them to get a security guard. That just mad matters worse. They prices are extremely high. And they sale molding meat and bread. I truly wish this wasn't the only grocery store close.
Bakery lady was cool, helped me instantly. Self checkout girl was very nice and helpful without me even asking. But then the manager lady is the type to do everything she can to find a way not to help you. Trying to load a prepaid card, this luckys is listed as a reload location and I even looked up how to do it for her but bcuz she never did it before she just blew me off saying they don't do that there. Had to go 2 miles out of my way and make another stop just bcuz of her bad attitude.
The best feature of this store are the occasional 5 for $5 deals. The worse are the app coupons and sales. They're important to redeem and are basically all bait and switch. Groceries here are inexpensive and equivalent in quality - not the best. Fresh produce isn't super fresh but adequate if you're going to use them immediately. Meats are average quality but again, sufficient. Fruits are seasonal and everything else they generally have in terms of dry and paper goods.
This store's layout is confusing for a grocery store. Many products you would normally find together in other stores are in completely different locations. The produce reminds me of an East Coast grocery store (i.e. not fresh) , not the quality you typically find here in California. The checkout area is crammed in and they seem to favor their woefully incapable self checkout system over human cashiers. On the plus side they do have a parking garage.
Definitely the most poorly managed grocery store in the city. They NEVER have more than a single register open, and one person overseeing the self checkout, so it can take half an hour of standing in line to get anything. (Definitely don't buy alcohol here, since it needs to go though a register). Not the fault of the staff here, they hate it as much as we do. The management here should be ashamed though.
Prices are on the cheaper side for San Francisco (not counting discount supermarkets). Good variety of products and it is never crowded. It also offers free parking for customers. EDIT Dec 2019: Lowering review to 2 stars. After two consecutive unsuccessful trips to Lucky where I could not get fresh fish, I was told that now they only receive fresh fish on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays...
This store has gone miserably downhill. What was once a nice well staffed store is now a disaster. One cashier at 5 pm?! Are you kidding? They've let everyone go and there's no one working. Twenty people were waiting to use the self check and you know how that goes. What's going on Lucky? No baskets! Why is the frozen food not frozen? Why do you let this once nice store be run so poorly?
Local of 6 years in neighborhood shopping at luckys. Always have a new security guard or employee whos new and follows you around like your stealing if you look poor. Despite having spent 6 years shopping there. I refuse to come back. I make more money than your employees sorry i dont wear northface jacket and top brand clothes. I spend my money on organic food and rent not clothes.
I like that they have a self service water machine and there own parking lot of which you have to know where the entrance is, you might miss it if you don't know where it is, look for an under ground parking entrance, there prices are a bit high, I stopped going there because of that, a much better place to go for good prices is Smart And Final that's not to far away
I’ve noticed on my debit card I was charged an amount that is not correct. I purchased a package of pork chops for $7.42 a small container of milk for $1.99 and 2 bananas. My debit card was deducted $52.00 and I know better than that. I’ve filed a complaint and I hope they get it right. This don’t make any sense to the dumbest bear! Can I have this issue resolved
This is pretty much what you'd expect. The staff is actually very nice and helpful. However, only come here if you are willing to use self checkout which is always pretty quick. If you want to buy alcohol or don't want to use self checkout, prepare for at least 20 minutes waiting in line. Faster to use self checkout and grab your alcohol across the street.
Maybe the only Lucky in the City. In a very populated area, I went here because I could get a custom cake made up for a good price. Cake was tasty, and well-liked by the recipient. They had a good supply of quality Bourbon and other alcohols. Not a huge store, but they definitely held quality over quantity. They do have free car parking underground.
This felt like a hidden gem when I went in yesterday around lunch time. I couldn't tell it was a huge grocery store from the outside. It was clean and nice and the staff are friendly. It wasn't super busy when I was there. Compared to the grocery stores I am use to this was much more mellow and not frantic like other grocery stores. Thumbs up!
This large supermarket offers pretty much everything one may need when shopping for groceries & other general necessities. It is conveniently located & accessible by mass transit. Lucky also has free parking underneath the facility. It has great specialized departments (i.e., bakery, butchery, deli, etc.). The staff is friendly & helpful.
Dropped by on a Sunday early afternoon during a leisurely neighborhood stroll. The market was nearly empty and the place is HUGE! It was so relaxing shopping here with the large aisles, empty space to easily navigate from shelf to shelf without bumping into others or fighting the crowd of people and carts. A breath of fresh air!
Love luckys. Amanda was sweet and so helpful when i asked where an item was. The next time i went i saw her in the check stand and again she was very polite and engage in small talk. Because of her i definitely will be back. Their produce is also always fresh and reasonably priced. Cheaper than Safeway for thesame products.
Bad customer service. Tried to pay with 2 rolls of quarters, was turned away because I guess counting or weighing them is too arduous. Prepare to be accused of trying to pass counterfeit bills if the self checkout doesnt recognize them. If this wasnt so nearby I would never bother. Also their produce is barely par.
This Lucky place not healthy, restroom are so dirty and stink, if customers go to this market place and go to restroom, walk over dirty nasty floor inside restroom, then walk back to lucky market, bring all germ and stinky smell whole lucky market, the not cite health code and deceases. Needs keeps eyes on restroom
Whole foods prices for grocery outlet products. Almost always a problem with self checkout machines either wont scan products or stalls needing a staff member to reset. On the plus side most of the staff are nice. On the negative side again the service is usually pretty awful at the meat & fish counter.
5 stars for my favorite cashier Evalina (I’m guessing on spelling). She is lovely and the reason I go to this location. I started doing the “real” checkout line after I realized that the self-checkout didn’t always reflect the sale prices I was seeing on the shelves. Also, Evalina is a joyful human.
The pharmacy is outstanding and fast. Chris, Yvone, Angela and Mika are very pleasant and helpful and have gone out of way to help me. Would highly recommend. MUNI bus stop right outside and Starbucks across street.*Update, But it was so sad to see the Pharmacy has closed.
A great store for the city. Covered parking is a real bonus. They have the normal selections of stock that you would expect but with out the crowed atmosphere of the other area grocery stores . Fruit normally last about a week in our house so it has some quality to it.
I belive there are only 2 locations here in the city. Bus stops right in front. Decent selection of products desent customer service line are usualy resonable. Deli pretty good. Check the weekly deals there good. They seem to have very good deals on seafood and meat.
The layout of this shop is bizarre, it always takes me ages to find what I need as you end up wandering for miles when things are not where you'd expect them. But pretty cheap prices so generally a good alternative to more expensive shops like Whole Foods.
Really cute market. The people who work at the pharmacy are super nice and they have a bulk buying section in the store which I love just watch out for weirdos who hangout on the street around this store some dude flashed me lol …
I come here to shop with my family. But a worker there really hurt my feelings. I have mental health issues. I have severe anxiety, PTSD. I haven't been out in public in a while in the neighborhood (cause I have anxiety) so my husband does
One of the most bizarre throwback late 80s early 90s groceries in the city. Not only does it feel like you have been transported to the suburbs in the heart of the most expensive cities in the world, you will also find a cupcake section
me and my girlfriend tried to buy some alcohol here a few weeks ago and the workers werent very nice. first we grabbed what we wanted and then we were followed by the staff. when we tried to buy the bottle they ID'ed me (im the one whos
Poor customer service and very few check stands open when lines get long. Self checkout is always faster. Watch your receipts, as the will over charge you for paper bags even if you bring your own (which is really pathetic).
The organization of the store drives me nuts. Yogurt is not next to dairy. The bread isle is not next to the bakery. Get it together! The selection leaves more to be desired, but space is limited in the city.
I go to Lucky on a regular basis. I am always pleased with the customer service & the produce that I purchase. The people that work there are always polite & courteous & I enjoy seeing them & saying hello.
Near home. Everything Safeway and Smart & Final got to offer. Accept EBT. Buy when on sale to maximize your shopping. Amazon locker here so u won't get your packages stolen from thieves at your residences.
I come here for great weekly specials, like 5 for $5 ea=5 for $25 & buy 5 gallons of milk get the next gallon free. Get a free Lucky You card and get freebies plus save points for $ off or free items.
I really like Lucky stores. They stock items that one doesn't usually find in supermarkets. Pork belly, goat, cotto salami, and many other things I can't think of right now. And they have good sales.
People here are slow and very unhelpful. Won’t even bother to help you find anything and they never have more than one check out line open even when the line is long. Can’t stand shopping here
This location has what you would expect from a typical supermarket. I scored only 4 stars due to the pricing of products seems a bit inflated and staffis typically only moderately helpful.
Obvious shortage of staff in the meat/Seafood section. Only have 1 in-person cashier a lot of the time, so expect to wait in line. Good products, and food when everything is operating
A large grocery store that offers everything you may need from stationaries to raw meat. This place is well organised and clean. The self check-out also offers for a fast check-out.
Like the self checkout convenience. Plenty of parking in the underground garage. My ATM next door. Prices very similar to the other major supermarket. Selection ok. Workers great.
You can find some great deals at this store. The lines tend to get pretty long because they typically only have 1-2 cashiers open. Most employees are very nice and helpful though.
Hard to rate. Sometimes the deals are good. Sometimes the deli staff is slow and rude. Also racial slurs are sometimes heard. I hope this store gets some new employees soon.
Free parking, central location. Contains what feels like the largest big box grocery store in the city, resulting in a great selection of typical grocery store items.
This place has good roasted chicken and also good liquor and the staff are really nice to her as well. Makes you feel at home. Thank you …
Nice grocery with a fresh seafood section & pharmacy. Reasonable prices with sales weekly. Friendly employees & a self checkout option.
DoorDash and Uber orders are never ready when I arrive like they’re supposed to be, and they take forever to get ready after arriving
We go here every weekend. Prices are a bit higher than Safeway but they do carry a few items Safeway doesn't. Steaks are hit or miss.
My fav grocery store in the city. Never crowded and always well stocked. Security guards are pleasant as the store workers as well.
Found specific item Kinder's korean bbq dry rub and marinade. It was also on sale too! This was a new item sold in packets.
Lucky’s has a great selection of produce and the employees there are very kind and helpful. I will definitely be back!
Nice store with huge variety of stuff. There is also a party section. There is a Poppy Bank. We love this clean store.
Poor service from the General manager on Thanksgiving afternoon. Go to another grocery store for your Holiday needs.
This is a great store. It has spacious aisles, a good variety of products, good parking and a friendly staff.
Really good market with a wide variety of bakery, prepared food, beverages, fruit, etc. Real nice employees
Decent place to shop and conveniently on the bus line! Sad to say the pharmacy is closing very soon !
I found several things that were weeks past their expiration date- check your labels.
My favorite grocery store, always nice and clean and stocked.
Well organized store and not crowded. Staff was very helpful.
To high price for groceries and your day.
