"My wife wanted to visit this Italian restaurant for quite a while now, as she heard such wonderful reports"
"Don't often venture out for graze in the Northern pastures, but when we do, we do it with gusto"
"Wow what a huge disappointment"
"We booked a booth 2 days in advance"
Visted on 30 Nov at 7pm. Our starter and desert courses were exceptional. But I can not say the same for our main courses, my Brown Butter Butternut Ravioli was probably the worst I've had in a long time. The butter was not browned at all, and it was basically a butter soup. The Ravioli itself was also greatly undercooked and 3 of them had burst during cooking, meaning they were not constructed and sealed correctly. My wife also had very hard spinach stalks in her hake dish. Then we were sitting next to a table of 4very loud woman, who really disrupted the romantic dinner we were having. The floor managers and waiters didn't do anything about it really, even though other tables complained about them too. They were banging on the tables, getting up and doing silly dances, and extremely loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. I don't mind people having a good time, but then go to a bar or club for this sort of thing. Disappointed that nothing was done about it by staff. That said, our waitress, Khuliswa was brilliant and very attentive. Overall, I was very disappointed, as I heard the food was to die for, and especially considering it's Italian, a Pasta dish should not be the worst thing we had all night. I'll come again to give them a second chance, and hopefully the atmosphere is improved and they get Pasta right this time....
My wife wanted to visit this Italian restaurant for quite a while now, as she heard such wonderful reports. Unfortunately, we didn't have such a wonderful experience today. It started with terrible background music of a lady screaming- completely unrelated music- sorry not music - noise. We really got the sense our waitres didn't want to be there, wasn't friendly & we waited a loooong time for our drinks & then later also for our food order. It wasn't busy maybe 4 or 5 tables - so there wasn't a real reason why we had to wait so long. She got my wives order wrong- my wife asked for bacon instead of ham- and asked for 'Penne'. When she started bringing our food to the table , she remembered the bacon instead of the Ham & quickly asked the kitchen to change it. This resulted that we were halfway through our meal before my wives' food came. When it did eventually come, we saw that it wasn't Penne but Fettuccine. My wife said that it was fine and the food was really tasty & good. So it was mainly the terrible music & poor service that left us a bit disappointed. The food was good though.

Don't often venture out for graze in the Northern pastures, but when we do, we do it with gusto. Googled some of the eateries that side and the parm wheel always been on the radar, so found Lupa Osteria which does a lil homemade pasta and the infamous parmesan wheel Carbonara. Sexy spot with modern decor and nice touches with their branding and modern New York style booth seating etc. Was quiet for lunch this day but service attentive and good knowledge on the produce and dishes. Opted for the spinach ball fettuccine with chilli, creamy and good but could have bit more vooma flavour wise. Bolognese had a bit of a creamy base, but was extremely moreish with great flavours. We also got the waitress to fire up the parm wheel and had a bit of the Carbonara- great little display and worth the excursion, was good, hearty, creamy and have ticked it off the bucket list *is on the pricier side, but was worth trying. Fresh condiments to bolster the pastas or pizzas if needed. Pizzas also looked really good, but for another time.

Wow what a huge disappointment. We waited 1h30min for our food to arrive, when it eventually came 1 of the orders was incorrect. I ordered an aubergine vegetarian dish and meatballs arrived. The manager, with whom we had already spoken to regarding the extremely long wait, assured us that it would be a few minutes to bring me the correct dish as they have them prepared. While I waited my son and daughter started their meal. My daughter's meal was full of meat but my son's hardly had any. The sauce was watery and rather bland. My dish arrived and it looked appealing but it was ice cold in the middle it was obvious that it had been thawed then heated but only the top layer was warm. We called the manager again who was rather sarcastic and basically told us to go. I tried to explain that we weren't being unreasonable and that my food was still frozen in the middle but his attitude was not what I would have expected when they were at fault...just to note the table next to us got up and walked out as they too were frustrated by the long wait. Such a pity as we were really looking forward to going here and this ruined our evening.

We booked a booth 2 days in advance. It was to be our first time there. On arrival, we were told that someone else was occupying our table. We had to wait for them to get the person occupying our booth to vacate it. Then they showed us to our table. The table was dirty and the (tattered) bench chair was full of food crumbs. There were only 4 tables occupied in the whole restaurant but the waiter didn't bother to serve us. I had to go and ask for the manager to get anyone to come and clean, set the table and offer us anything. Even so, they didn't pick up the pace. The manager wore a sweatshirt that he used to paint with before. Twice, I had to go to the kitchen hatch to ask for bottled water that we ordered but was not delivered. Food was not bad, but I'd rather stay away. It does not cost a lot to train people and to pay attention, but rather commitment from the owner - we could see that this was non existant. I'm sorry, but Lupa is a lost cause.. They're obviously are not making money, but the way they're going, it's not going to be long...

A simple yet elegant interior design. Friendly staff welcome you and make sure you are attended to throughout the evening. I appreciated the homemade pasta. It makes for an enhanced taste experience. Located within the Durbanville Village Square complex. Ample parking space is available either in front of the restaurant or else in the underground parking garage. Perfect place for dining on your own also.

Had my pre birthday lunch at Lupa Village Square. I just cannot understand why this place is not as busy as it should be on a Saturday lunch time. We ordered a wide range from Pizza, pasta and not to mention the sirloin steak on a bed of risotto. The flavors we delicious and cooked exactly to order. Portion sizes were perfect. I would suggest not to have a starter and main meal if you want dessert. We just could not . The prices compare very favorable to other restaurants in the same block. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, who wants great food. We even did a take out order for someone at home that could not make it to the restaurant.

My favourite restaurant, have visited quite a few times now. I always go for their trio of stuffed pasta (vegetarian) and it's so delicious - pizza is a win as well, and they also have great-tasting cocktails. We love to go for the Sunday - Monday pizza special, which is a great save! I have to admit, every time we have been there, their service isn't super fast (a tad bit slow)/ however it isn't really something that bothers us that much, as the staff is always friendly and food is worth the wait.

We had a reservation booked for 7PM this evening and when arriving, we stood at the door for 5 minutes unattended. When someone attended to us, we were told that they do not have seats for us because they had overbooked (no call or email to let us know prior). I then asked if we could sit at what looked like an open seat and we were told we could go seat ourselves. After 10 minutes of sitting at the table, we had not been greeted by any staff or given any menus; at this point we decided to leave instead. I understand that 7PM on a Friday is a busy time for restaurants and we were naturally expecting to wait a bit but not being able to commit to a customers reservation or do the basics like greeting and seating your customer with a menu was quite disappointing after friends had recommended Lupa to us.
Another good evening spent with friends. We were greeted well by the friendly hostess and seated promptly. We had a table for 8 pretty much in the middle of the restaurant but a bit closer to the kitchen. Nice setting and atmosphere with a full house. We had some starters and cocktails which were very nice. For mains we ordered a variety of dishes from the burger to the steak to the spaghetti and meatballs to the chicken and prawn pasta and the calamari. The steaks were done to perfection and tasted great. The pasta with chicken and prawns or scamorza, was very tasty and filling. Good service from David and with a full restaurant we only waited 25 minutes for mains. We were all happy with our mains. Dessert was simple and yum. Thanks again for a great evening.
Best pasta in town! Very flavourful! Highly recommend! I always visit them for their Alfredo pasta with extra added pineapple for a hint of sweetness! Trust me it's amazing! Love it! I also took a take away pizza. The pizza was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Just another good pizza. I have visited a few authentic Italian pizza places before and this pizza didn't have the signature Italian flavour. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is still delicious. Just don't expect super special Italian pizza flavours. The atmosphere is always so warm and welcoming. The waiters are also very helpful and well informed. Will definitely see me again soon for some pasta

What an exciting experience! I loved the lively atmosphere, and the service was very good. My boyfriend and I both had the “Lupa signature pasta”, which I would definitely recommend! Not only does it taste great, but it’s something I’ve never seen before! Such a wonderful experience, I would definitely recommend going here!

Been here a few times and have never left dissatisfied. With my latest experience, i was left disappointed. I had a starter and a main. The main meal was delicious, however half of the rotolo i had as a starter was still frozen. I literally bit into ice, which was a big disappointment. Sent it back to the kitchen immediately. The vibe was busy and cozy, as always though. Edit: i was requested to contact Lupa Osteria by way of Google chat. Having a Huawei device: that is not possible as Google Play store apps dont work on Huawei. If i could perhaps get an email address to contact, i will gladly do so. Until then: my review stays as is.

Absolutely magical meal @ LUPA OSTERIA. Heard about their PARMESAN WHEEL FETTUCCINE CARBONARA and HAD to go... The food was divine. Our waitress was great, nice to have propper table service. Unfortunately our food took very long, and we ended up being the last table in the restaurant to be served. Like an hour at least, so they lost a star for that. But honestly, will definitely be back. Call to reserve your table ahead, they are very busy and popular. Ask for a booth or table away from the front door.

Absolutely delicious and enjoyable evening, good wine, great food and friendly service. We had the following: 1. CARPACCIO for starter(delicious, well balanced with a hint of acidity and parmesan shavings, tender beef and beautifully presented) 2.Lupa signature pasta made in the Parmesan wheel (Made tableside, absolutely creamy, well balanced and fresh, chewy pasta you could taste was home made) 3. Gnocchi with prawns, Chorizo, chilly and cream (velvet gnocchi, and the sauce was an atomic bomb of flavour, bit of spice, crunchy succulent prawns and pieces of Chorizo) Would highly recommend

My wife and I was referred to this restaurant by a close friend so my expectations were quite high to start with especially for my birthday dinner. We were greeted and seated very professionally and received our first round of drinks quite quick but then everything went downhil. We order a starter and our mains together, the starter came about 15 minutes later, but our mains toke close to another hour.... the waiter said that they did not expect such a high volume and didnt have enough cheese wheels The pasta special they are known for was very disappointing, maybe I just had a bad batch. Cocktails werent bad though
We were a group of 6 that went for a birthday celebration. The person celebrating a birthday gets a discount on their bill - how awesome! The vibe in the restaurant is great. You immediately feel welcome. Service was quick even though they were very busy. The food was delicious. From the foccacia for starter to the mains of pizzas and pastas - not one of us complained about the food. They have an Italian menu and what I liked about it was the fact that they don't have 100's of dishes. The dishes that they make, they make well! We had desert as well - my chocolate fondant was heaven in a cup! Definitely going back.
We Had a great dine in experience food was amazing. We waited a while but it was well worth the wait. We enjoyed our dine in so much we decided to order takeaways today which was an absolute joke! Ordered Lasagna and Lupo full portion pasta. The Lasagna was pathetically small, it was like we were given a kiddies portion due to the fact we ordered takeaways. Will definitely be skeptical to order takeaways again due to this. Was looking forward to a nice portion of Lasagna, finished it in 2 seconds disappointed to say the least!

We ordered the hake and sirloin. The hake received rave reviews with the lemon and caper topping, but the sirloin not so much. The sirloin had a bbq sauce which just doesn’t work in an Italian setting. Then it also was not cooked as requested…twice. The risotto that accompanied it was amazing though! The desserts were average- the panna cotta and berries were delicious but the chocolate mousse lacked aeration and was overly sweet. Service was good and manager/owner was helpful when the steak complaint was raised. May be back to try a pasta and the crème brûlée.
Is there 10 stars?? This place is awesome. They made a little mistake with our reservation. Instead of today they made it 23.06.2019. Ha ha. But it's my friends birthday? But within less than 5 minutes we had champagne and a nice table. Food is outstanding. When we asked for the dessert menu. The manager gave us desserts on the house. And when we paid,my friends meal were on the house seeing that it was his birthday. Never expected so much treatment and spoils! Thank you so much Lupa Osteria. We already discussed our next visit and meals.

As i am sitting here and eating my much anticipated Gnocchi de sol, it feels like im chewing on rubber, from the gnocchi to the pieces of chorizo. My husband's pizza is also a disappointment, the base must be from a few days old, not used to this quality from Lupa. Will most definitely not order again. Where is the quality control?? The biltong in my fridge is fresher than this chorizo.

It's an amazing restaurant with Rome's flavour. The environment is modern but cozy. The service is friendly and the food is super delicious from pizza to pasta. The best experience we have ever had. Drinks came fast. Waiter (King Mugwagwa) was absolutely friendly, as well as rest of the staff. Food was brought out hot and together to the table. No issues at all. Was so nice that we dipped the pizza in the Alfredo sauce. Was absolutely devine and we cannot praise Lupa staff enough. Thank you for making a terrible restaurant day experience in one of magic. Ps. Love the straw idea...people need to experience for themselves❤
Popped through for their lunch special Fish was completely over cooked and rubbery. Risotto flavors were nice. However portions were laughable. Restaurant has not been maintained. Seats are in disrepair and service is far from what it used to be when Ashley & other managers were on site. Will not be supporting any time soon.

The seafood pasta with fennel cream was very disappointing with only 3 prawns and 2 mussels and no taste of fennel. It was served inside a large piece of foil and we had to send it back to be plated. The gnocchi was overcooked and dry and there were very little meat in the ragù sauce (maybe 1 or 2 grams at most).

Had to be a 5 for me... Not just for the really good food, but the amazing service. We really enjoyed our starters and mains, in hindsight we ordered too much food but everything was delicious. The service was amazing, we were well taken care of and it was prompt and efficient. My wife needed the ladies, which is in the centre and not the restaurant itself and the waitress walked her there and then waited for her and walked her back.

Remains a favorite restaurant and the food is always exceptionally good. Staff very friendly. They were setting up for a big group (45) and we were asked to move table from a very nice spot to a booth so even though we like the place, the staff and the food we end up at a less nice table like in my previous review when I had booked in advance abd ended up at a table where all the dishes were distributed from.
Definately a 10 out of 5 from us . . .from the time we arrived until we left, the service and especially the owner coming around, with the passion of the place oozing out of him, the personal attention from him and the staff, the food, the atmosphere, design and decor . . . . .WOW . . . . you will see us again and again and again.

Nice pasta, just a bit on the pricey side. Recommend the Carbonara for the cheese wheel experience. 2023 Update: Returned for supper again, it was rather noisy inside, my cheese wheel carbonara had a slight gas burner taste to it, but otherwise everything else was great.

Ordered 2 pizzas for collection on Friday 09/10/2020. I did not check at collection as the Lupa seal was on the boxes. The pizzas overall were well below par considering the price bracket and its competitors.
