A mate and I have been regular Friday after work patrons for about 20 years. The Lustre Bar is a quirky little establishment close to Melbourne's iconic Flinders Street station. Entrance is on Centre Place. COVID-19 restrictions means the establishment is limited to 35 people and advance bookings are required. The Lustre Bar web site does not make this clear. Recently (December 11) my mate and I were denied entrance because the Lustre Bar was "booked out". Fair enough in these unexpected and unforseen times. A respectful suggestion that the web site be amended to confirm the requirement for bookings was met with complete indifference. The Lustre Bar is both convivial and quirky and, in normal times, the Friday "happy hour? crowd is diverse. The music is usually very loud and can restrain good conversation over pleasant refreshment.

I was at Lustre Bar on a Sunday evening for a glass of wine after a late dinner. I was treated to live music and a great ambience in the room. The venue is what one would describe as cozy. On a Sunday evening, it was quite pleasant as I had ample space around me. However, I not sure how it would be on a Friday or Saturday night. Looking through the drinks menu the cocktail list looks quite extensive and I would have to be back to try at least one or two. My experience with the red wines I sampled was great and can recommend the red selection available.

Surprisingly disappointing. As it is in one of the busiest areas in Melbourne and the overall review on Google seems decent. The place is filthy, vibes are off. No one was paying attention to the customers and the bartender and waitress were busy flirting with each other. It was pretty quiet when we were there but yet they managed to screwed up our order. They made basic cocktails below average(Martini and French75). Overpriced, as they seem didnt even chill the cocktails with ice.

Just get back to my bar visiting mode recent, checked in these ones I loved in the past, still into it. It’s a small cozy place near the famous De grave lane. Only about 10 tables. Has a little cute balcony (unfortunately people can smoke on it) Have a Raspberry Martini. Yummy

*Edit, it's been a year since our last visit in which we were disappointed with the managers attitude, so we decided to give Lustre another chance and I'm very pleased to say they are back to 5 stars again. Fantastic service and great contrails. Wonderful ambiance and over all excellent experience. Well done Lustre Bar! More

This is a great little bar with relaxed environment. Staff are friendly and even come and ask you if you needed something. They are quick to keep the place clean. There sofas are placed strategically so that people can have chats without being distracted. Thanks for that indeed; as I could have a business discussion.

Amazing service and such a beautiful team! They celebrated my bday celebration with me before a beautiful show. Thank you. Have a trip here for amazing drinks and a great cocktail menu. I didn't have food so I cannot comment on that however drinkwise their amazing

A cosy cocktail bar with a great atmosphere. Friendly and accommodating bar staff. A good variety of drinks including regular specials, and unique 'served in a waffle cone' treats. A bit small for large groups but superb outlook with an open frontage. Great central location. I'll be back for sure.

Have yet to step into this bar, but had a casual b'day drinks booking for around 20 people fall through last minute. Even though they were already booked, Emma was super helpful and the bar was willing to offer alternatives. Will definitely be looking forward to next date night drinks!

Don't go for dessert. Our first 2 choices out of about 5 on the menu weren't available. We ordered our 3rd choice and drinks only to sit down and then be told our third choice also wasn't available. Got a refund but had already started our drinks. Drinks ok although a little pricey.

Hosted a private event here and was blown away by the quality. The room is fantastic for a gathering of around ~70 people, the staff were incredible with both the service and their recommendations, and the process of booking and using this venue was easy. Cannot recommend enough.

Sitting on the 2nd floor, really great and cosy bar in the city. It was a hot day in the afternoon, they are packed, people sitting next to the balcony to enjoy the breeze and some relaxing time over here. Had a cocktail which is so good. Staff were so sweet and nice.

Due to covid they are not doing desserts but they did not stock non alcoholic beer as stated in the menu. However the bartender more than made up for the lack of stock with a delicious orange mocktail. Thank you for the excellent service and alternative drink.

Brilliant, central venue. Amazing vibes. Chris and the staff will change your life. Very attentive, know their knowledge with drinks and amazing service. They will also carry you down the stairs .

This is a cool little cocktail bar located in the city near Degraves st. It has a cool selection from the menu like alcoholic ice creams as well as other specialty mixes. They also have a selection if your favourite beers and whiskey for you to enjoy.

It's a great little cosy place for a drink (especially for smokers, as they have a tiny belcony where you can sit and smoke) Great selection of cocktails. Stay away from the snacks, really not worth it. If it wasn't for the food it would be 5 stars.

Sweet bar in the city, down an awesome lane. I came in for a drink with a mate after seeing the Midnight Oil concert. We talked about the concert to the guy behind the bar and a few minutes later, he started playing Midnight Oil tunes in the bar!

Drinks expensive. Ordered a glass of red, waiter had half filled the glass when the bottle ran out and couldnt be bothered opening a new one to finish it off so charged me the full amount for the half a glass. Better places to be found nearby.

Hidden gem in centre place. Has an amazing bar with friendliest of bartenders. They have a cute balcony overlooking Flinders lane which is gold. Good selection of whiskies and awesome cocktails. I'd prefer lustre bar over Millhouse anyday.

Chris gave us a great experience. He hooked us up with the best drinks and got me brownie points with the misso, I highly recommend If you're looking for a great night head here.

Lovely bar staff and drinks but their floor manager made a huge deal about moving a table and physically dragged it back into place. Made the experience super uncomfortable so probably wouldn’t come back.

Nice bar, good selection of beer - would be a perfect spot for an afternoon drink if it wasn’t ruined by the smokers on the balcony - I know it’s legal, but it ruins it for anyone not trying to die early

Lovely bar with a great ambience. Perfect background music, best passion fruit martini I’ve ever had. And they gave us shots to celebrate our wedding anniversary, fantastic end to our night in Melbourne!

Very dark. Windows need a good wash, view would of been great if you could see it through them. Great location.

Great little lounge bar supplying an extensive list of cocktails and whiskies. Good seating however only a small establishment that would be full with 50 patrons. The chandeliers are cool.

Nice and cosy bar with old fashion feel. The balcony is a great spot to sit, as it has cool side alley way views. The cocktail menu is amazing! So many different choices!

Great happy hour and a nice little location with a balcony overlooking flinders lane. Friendly staff. Not so great for those that might be bothered by cigarette smoke.

Went at 10.30pm on a Saturday night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cocktails were delicious. Music was good. Venue was cosy and relaxed. Definitely worth a visit.

Good place, bartenders are great and friendly. Shame you cant smoke on the balcony though, they even have ashtrays set up and everything. Good place though.

A very quiet and small bar. No loud blaring music you have to yell over. Smokers can sit at the balcony, so there is a bit of that smell. More

Hidden private and desirable delightful for any age for a pre dinner drink. One of the few bars that still allows smoking. (On the balcony)

Laidback bar, not too busy but were out of several ingredients to make the cocktails we initially ordered which was a bit dissappointing.

This is my favourite bar in the Melbourne CBD. It has a fantastic cocktail menu. It also has a balcony which is beautiful on a warm day.
