I really had to sit on this review so I would not react off emotion. I went to this salon, who confirmed they were a Dominican hair-styling salon. Not true. Although they were kind, as well they should be, I asked the owner to do my hair, but she never finished it off. She gave me a color treatment and asked how long the color should stay on. I advised her that she was the expert and I could not answer. She then let "B" roller-set my hair. I specifically said to please roll my hair tight so it could be straight since I don't hand blow dry, as I have done previously at other salons for 20 years without any issues. She rolled my hair as it was "drying". I had to ask her to apply water since she was rolling curled up hair which would result in an Afro puff style. I hair easily straightens with a roller-set. "B" didn't know what she was doing. I gave it 1 start because I couldn't give it any less. when a client ask for the "owner" to style, the reason, at times, is to minimize the risk going to a new place. They are not to be handed off to staff. Needless to say, I left there with my rollers on because they clearly indicated they could not do hair. When I took my rollers off, my hair was a complete frizzled mess. I had to redo my hair myself. I over-tipped them because I had not taken the rollers off when I left. I will never return. I need experts to know how to apply services and - at the least - know how to roll hair.

I got a body wave perm here a few weeks ago. After the perm solution was in my hair for 20 minutes, I asked the stylist if she was going to take it out soon. She said it should stay in for 45 minutes, and when I said I've only ever had it in for 15-20 minutes for all previous perms, she told me again that 45 minutes was what was needed to get it very curly. I thought maybe it was just a different product that required more time. After 40 minutes, the stylist showed me the product box, and it clearly said that it should only be left in for 15 minutes. About a week after the appointment, I started getting a lot of hair loss (an dam still having this) due to the over-processing with the chemicals. A trained stylist who knows about keeping hair healthy would not something like this. This salon might be fine for cuts and simple styling, but I would not go there for any chemical processes.

Let me start be saying I loved this place!!! Located in the heart of Adams morgan! So FYI give yourself time to find parking or pay to park, Uber, walk etc. Anyways... I called this past Saturday for a trim for my daughter with C curl hair and they were able to see her same day!! We had the pleasure of working with Maria...She recommended a treatment for my daughters hair to help with the fuzz. My daughter went out of town the following day so I haven't seen the results after her 1st shampoo but the blow out was amazing and quick! My daughters hair was sooo soft and full of shine. Turned out Great! Now On to the Salon: LOVE IT. Very Very nicely done and its a basement salon but full of light. It's white, so clean, cool black sparkly floors, Huge Bathroom (not some toilet in a closet) just a really nice Salon. And all the Staff were super nice! Highly recommend

This rating is ONLY for Maria. I saw her for a blowout. She got me in immediately, was very careful with my allergy/product requirements, gave me an AMAZING shampoo and the best blowout I've had in years! I saw someone else yesterday, who burned my scalp repeatedly with the blow dryer, kept having to be reminded to use only the products I brought with me, and kept me waiting appx an hour after the hood dryer to get my style finished while she worked on other clients. Even though I got there right when they opened & I was the only client there for quite some time. One thing about the shop as a whole, though: Online it says a blowout is $30, both times they charged me $40. Idk if it costs extra to get a roller set or something, I didn't ask. If you care about price & truth in advertising though, make sure you ask before they start.

One star because the lady was nice. Other than that had a pretty bad experience here. I did not like my haircut and it did not look at all like the photo I showed her. I purchased a shampoo and cut. I was charged twice the amount I was expecting to pay because they charged me extra for the conditioning and for blow drying. At any other salon these things would be included in the cut & wash or at least you would be told that it will cost extra. I was not told that I would be charged extra. I tried to state this when I got to payment and they had nothing to say but “it’s extra.” The lady at the register called another lady and she said the same. I ended up paying and left because I was very frustrated. Never going back.

I went here about 2 weeks ago and I believe it was Maggy that did my hair. The outcome was great, however when she did my roller set she was a little rough and seemed to be in a rush. I came for a wash and set. The wash was just ok nothing special, I do feel like she could've spent a little more time conditioning my hair. She said she gave me a deep condition for free but my total came out to $80 with a trim. I've been going to this salon for about 10 years and have experienced many different owners and employees. My hair is usually anything from $50-$65. She did a terrific job on my trim, I felt like she really got all of my dead ends. Overall, I was satisfied with my hair and would return.

I believe that the salon has a new owner, Maggie. I visited over the weekend, because pre-Covid, I would come often and I needed my hair done. The service was outstanding and the salon has been newly renovated with massage wash chairs! Maggie colored my hair to dye my grays, washed and conditioned, trimmed my ends and Straightened my hair with clip-ins added. All was perfect and on point, and I can be picky. I will surely return, and although I was expecting to see different stylists like pre-Covid, the new owner is very skilled, Professional and provides great customer service!

This place is a gem. I have curly hair and am often struggling to find a hair stylist that not only knows how to cut curly hair and layer accordingly, but also that doesn't cut my hair for the purpose of looking good only when it's straightened. I've spent 4 years in DC trying to find a place that properly cuts my hair. Maria at this place gets it, she just does. On top of everything, the prices are incredibly reasonable, especially given that it's in Adams Morgan. Forget about gimmicky devacurl-type of haircuts. A good hairstylist needs nothing but skill and a pair of scissors!

This place is absolutely amazing. Let me tell you, ever since I moved to the DMV area I’ve been to a couple of salons specialized in curly hair and always left super disappointed and mad at how much I paid. However at this salon, I literally left with a smile from ear to ear! Alma Maria was excellent! She gave me good tips for my hair type and she cut my hair beautifully! It’s the best hair cut I’ve EVER gotten. I would 10000% recommend this salon. And I thought it was extremely thoughtful that they offer coffee or tea!

I’m now a regular at Evolution. I don’t speak a lick of Spanish but my stylist Beatriz always communicates with me and in my presence, in English. I can respect that. I wear my hair natural. No relaxers or harsh chemicals but nowadays with the weather change, I come to Beatriz to get my hair blown out. The salon is a small comfy hideaway, tucked away in the middle of a complete cultural experience, in the heart of Adam’s Morgan. That’s what’s up! Leemah!

I was originally scheduled to have a silk press with Maggy however there appeared to be a conflict in scheduling. This was my first time going to a Salon in DC. I was a bit disappointed at first but I am so glad I put my faith in Maggy and her team. Erika did an AMAZING job! My hair looked fantastic. I received so many compliments at the Gala I attended. The salon was also very nice and staff attentive and professional. I will definitely be back!

Hands down my go to Dominican Hair Salon in the City! Maggy’s has never failed me. The salon itself is beautiful and CLEAN, but it’s the stylist, all of Them to be honest But “Maggy” especially that makes this place a 5-star business. They make you feel beautiful at “Hello!” But the products are quality, the stylist are professional, the hospitality is EVERYTHING and your finished look is always Head Turning and Healthy! They are mi familia!

I have currrrly hair (about 4b) and am very particular about who does my hair. I came from Miami and went to same stylist for 7 years. I have had my hair done by both Maggy and Erika, who are both very experienced and laid my hair flat. I love this place because they do a great job and remind me of home! And everyone in there is super friendly and talented. Good vibes all around

I love this salon I have 4a hair and I love my blow out it’s amazing. My daughter has 3c/4a combination hair and her bow out was a success. One thing I love most is that our hair reverts back to its natural curl pattern when we wash our hair . I recommend Esther she’s patient and understands our hair. This place is a vibe from when you walk in all the way to when you leave.

Just went to Maggy’s for the first time because of one of their stylist, Haydee. I had a great experience, they offered me fresh coffee right when I was seated, and Haydee did a great job with my haircut. The service was great, but even better is the pricing. It’s hard to find a great haircut at a reasonable price so I highly recommend stopping in Maggy’s and asking for Haydee.

Maggy’s is the BEST!!! Literally the best haircut I’ve gotten in years. Really can’t recommend this place enough. Maggy takes her time, is knowledgeable and really listens to what you want while also offering thoughts of styles that would best suit your face shape/preferences. Great service and great people. My hair is always pretty once done and it lasts almost two weeks. They do a pretty good job with my curley hair. It keeps straight the way I like it with a lot of volume. All personnel are respectful and friendly. I am happy I have found them. Evolution Hair Salon, will be my TO-GO place each time Im in DC. I honestly recommend it.

I was in DC for work and needed a quick blowout after a few days of rain. This team was lovely, welcoming, smiling, and their own crowns were gorgeous! My hair was done expertly and it was so shiny! Plus, the salon itself is beautiful. The wood and black tufted chairs are the cutest I’ve seen in any salon! I will go back every time I’m in town for sure!

I've been seeing Mila for about 15 years now, and she's the best!! I used to live in DC, but even now that I'm in NoVa I still go back to DC because I trust Mila 100%. Also, she and Melvis are super friendly, providing customers with a great, friendly experience. Plus, Maggy's salon is very nice and spacious. Totally recommend it!!

The stylist did an amazing job and I will be returning. I have natural hair and felt like I got a perm afterwards. The only thing that was false advertising was the price when booking so be prepared to pay more than $45. Other than that it was a job well done and the ladies in the shop were friendly and easy to talk to.

I’ve been going to Maggie’s for almost two years (when it used to be called Evolution something) and always get my haircut with Alma. She’s phenomenal, so talented, nice, and the salon was completely remodeled late last year. Strongly recommend it!!

I’ve been coming here since it was named Judith’s and I will continue to come whenever I’m in the DC area. I love that I don’t have to get under the dryer for my blow out and that it is always a quick in and out process most times only about 45 mins

Absolutely love how my hair looks. This was my first experience at this salon and was hesitant of how my hair would look. Maggy did an amazing job… update my hair stayed straight for a week and a half with no heat damage… curls came back after wash.

I walked in on new years eve. I recieved immediate service. All of the ladies were nice and friendly. I got a deep condition and a roller set. I loved the entire process im natural and I have 4a hair. I would recommend this shop fo anyone.
