The first person i dealt with was "John Staggs" I think his name is. The used car department manager I believe. On entry with my wife, toddler and new born, I asked where the used car section was. A staff member took us there. We sat and waited about 10mins and no one greeted us or told us what was happening. No hospitality. John was in the office next to Connors desk. He came out stopped, looked at us and then walked off without a word. He came back five mins later and i asked "is everything all good", then he asked why we were there. Again no welcome or greeting. No drinks offered, not even water for my daughter. My daughter had been very patient and waited some time so i just went up to the tap and found a foam cup and got some water. Im guessing perhaps he is a quiet person, or reserved or had so much to do and would at another time conduct the engagement differently, etc which is fair enough, we are all different however there was no warmth or connection. I asked about a camry and he said he'd show me where it was. Then he said we could go for a drive. It seemed quite ad hoc and unclear as to how we were to proceed. We went for a drive, and i had to initiate an effort to make conversation and ask questions. Nothing was forthcoming on his own from John. He did respond more positively to my attempts at engagement. We got back and agreed on a price. I had to take my family to other family in Hornsby and come back. When i returned I was told Connor would finalise everything, Connor was fine and more hospitable, offered water, to which i commented why was this not offered previously, not even to my child, only now when i have purchased the car. Connor was understandably unsure. One plus for John was i asked if my wife could have somewhere to breastfeed our newborn. He didn't hesitate and provided an office. This was a big redeeming event and im sure he's a very good bloke. But it was still all a very strange buying experience. I read reviews about Phil McCarroll before coming to the dealership. They were vastly positive. My experience was not, it was cold, confusing and unwelcoming. I had gone to Heartland Holden at Blacktown the day before, the experience was completely the opposite, so friendly, warm, engaging, clear. These guys were awesome, i wouldn't hesitate to see them again. I would not recommend Phil McCarroll and probably would not return there because i would feel uncomfortable entering. In summary it was just a weird uncomfortable unfriendly experience. Though Connor who i later dealt with was much more personable and welcoming and did make a big effort. However, i still wouldn't feel ok going back there. Lastly, and this is a significant principle for me also. The advert mentioned the car was showroom condition. We were buying a used car so we didn't expect it to be immaculate and without some scratches/blemishes, so i had my doubts. Sure enough which is to be expected, the car wasn't in showroom condition, had significant scratches on the rear, and side. Still we thought it was a good buy for the year/price. But i think the dealership should be honest. It was clearly misleading to use the language "showroom condition". On delivery, the car wasn't clean and tidy as hoped. Inside on doors there were still some brownish and grey stains i wiped off. The outside hant been thoroughly polished, and there was tyre shine one the panels above both wheels on the drivers side of the car. The passenger side was fine. Just little things that didnt equal many reviews and the reputation for Phil McCarroll. In saying this, no dealership would be 100% perfect and we are happy with the car for the price, it was just and unfortunate buying experience.
l bought my no 5 Alfa from McCarrolls is 2008, buying the car was great, they are very good at selling cars and taking your money but thats where it ends. My car was super for the first 6 months and then after this period driving the car was a nightmare for me. l reported to the manager of the service department over and over that the car shudders in first gear and reverse and each time l was told we cannot find anything wrong. (what does that tell you?) Over the years l could not sell the car beacuse of this problem and my friends and associates would not travel with me due to fear the car would stop on the road. Eventually l had to take McCarrolls to court to fix my car and only then would they fix it, they had my car for one year and in this time they gave it back leaking oil and l had to get another garage to tell them what they had to do. What really annoyed me was how they mocked me and stress l had to go through, the time l had to spend dealing with this situation, non productive time, one time l broke down and started to cry explaining the problem to the manager as l couldnt take it any more. l tried to write to Mr McCarroll himself but no reply.. the car should have been replaced, when they were asked why they never replaced the car the manager said we dont replace cars, yet they dont fix them either. l am still getting over this very bad experience and not having a car that l could enjoy driving that l had paid $55,000.00 for. In New Zealand l owed 3 Alfas and each time something needed fixing the car was fixed straight away, you never heard no we dont know what is wrong we can't see what is wrong. They might now say they are not like this any more but l doubt it, sometimes people need to be responsbile for their actions and when you sell a product it has to be what is expected by the consumer. This is a very honest review of my experience.
I would not recommed this company to anyone. I sent an information request through car sales in relation to a Land Rover they were advertising. They rang early on Monday morning which I took as a good sign but I could not talk and I called them back an hour later and spoke to the salesman that rang earlier. I explained that I was in Brisbane and would like some information sent to me before I took further steps to come down or organise someone to check the car. Pretty simple things like can you scan in the service reports and send it to us along with a copy of the standard warranty and the terms and conditions and would the warranty be valid even though we are in Queensland. Pretty simple things.. Well you would think. The long and short of it is not once did the salesman try to contact me, his secretary did with 1 one the requested items, which had been doged up anyway, apart from her we had to make EVERY contact, even when he said he would contact us he didn't. It was to much for me after 3 days straight of me chasing him up when he stated that there would be no negotation on the car, it was a fixed price. FIXED PRICE CARS>>>> Oh no sorry he did say that athough it was fixed price that they would do a service( which best I can tell from the service reports had not been done by a registered mechanic for 20+ thousand Km) AND he would replace the 2 bald back tyres with new ones, now I know I am in Queensland so it may be different there but I am farily sure when you sell a car it has to be road worthy. What a waste of my time, I was actually going to fly down this weekend but I guess that it was either to hard to deal with someone out of state or they sell so many cars the don"t need another sale.
Bad experience. First time I visited their new service department and parked in the customer parking and walked over to the service desk. I felt invisible , no one asked if they could help me and just walked past me. I asked and found I needed to move my car and did so. The young lady then walked past me and said she thought I was with someone else but kept walking and did not ask if she could help. I felt that they really did not want me there. I was asked what time I wanted the car and I said 4pm. I received a message about 1pm from ? to say ring him the car would not be ready until 4pm. I rang back but he was not there and the poor receptionist tried twice to get other people in Service but no one would answer the phone. I left a message to say I didn't need the car until 4pm so it wasnt a problem. Arrived 4.15pm to collect my car and was told it was not ready yet and would be 20mins. At 4.55pm I went over to reception and was told it would not be long. I asked for a definition of not long because it was supposed to be ready at 4pm and 20 mins was 20mins ago.They checked and I was told they were road testing. At 5pm ? delivered the key ( no paperwork). I asked if I got to complete a survey and was told NO. I said OK I would complete my own to which the tone of his voice changed and he wished me a good evening. The tone of voice actually said get stuffed. They must have had a very bad day. There was a sign asking you to give them 10/10 for service and if you had a problem to let them know. They didn't want to know.
I had horrible experience with this company and all they want is your money. Very poor customer service and won’t even care about their clients. I was about to buy a car and put down a holding deposit of $1000 which is still subject to finance approval. Just 2 days after I received a bad news about my wife’s visa and will definitely cost me money. So we decided not to buy a car yet and resolve the visa first. I immediately message Mark Vu the Business manager to get the deposit because we need the money but he didn’t reply on emails for days and always out when I call. Furthermore, they always pass me to different people everytime I call and they have different answers. Until now I’m still in awe and they just leave me hanging. Will definitely seek legal advice. I just hope they will be more considerate to their client’s situation because buying a car is a big factor that affects the family. Just a warning to everyone who wants to buy a car here. God bless
I ordered two stock standard Renault Masters from McCarroll's in August 2021, over the equivalent Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz vans, because of the advised delivery timeframe quoted by the sales rep (Est delivery was quoted as Feb 2022) and was also cautioned by the sales rep to "be careful with other dealers saying 3 months, as tempting as that is I know that they aren’t able to build them that quick due to covid". The delivery date then moved to April 2022 and now June 2022. The communication from this dealership was poor at best. Not only did I have to call and email numerous times before I'd receive a reply, but they failed to even advise me of a price increase that occurred in November 2021 until now with the contract being picked up by a new dealer group. I've had two other vehicles ordered and delivered by competing dealerships within this time. Unprofessional, uncommunicative, disappointing.
It looks nice from the outside, but a pretty terrible experience overall. My brother and I are in our early twenties. We walked around inside the dealership for about 10-15 minutes with no service whatsoever. Eventually someone came to us. I was interested in seeing the Toyota 86 and asked him about it. He said that they don't have a car in the showroom but said his boss had one in their carpark area around the side. We walked over there - not accompanied by the salesman - and there were a bunch of cars, for selling or theirs, who knows. In any case, we didn't see the 86 that was apaprently there. I got the strong feeling that he judged us by how young we looked, thought we weren't serious about purchasing and decided to send us over there for a bit of a f you. Well we weren't buying at the time but now that I do need a new car I'm not going over there to get one that's for sure.
We bought a new Toyota Fortuner Crusade December 22 2015. The car was not yet available and we were promised a delivery date of Jan 15 2016. We were served by Johnny Huynh. He was just fantastic! He was easy to deal with, kept all his promises and we were very happy when we were told we could pick up the car 6 days before promised! So we picked it up Jan 9 2016. The car was sitting there with balloons and a big red bow, wow! We added a couple of things in after sale (Window tint and front parking sensors) and also there we were looked after, top marks to your company! The main reason for going to Phil Mc Carroll in Hornsby is that you have serviced our work van for many years, always to our satisfaction! This is my wife's car and I never drive it. Just another over priced dealer service department. I just had my Prado serviced. I identified a fuel leak on the injection to the manager. Found a finger print and rag to have wiped it. It was still leaking. Replaced 2 CV joints on the front for $1600 and test drove the car saying the back shock was leaking. They did a wheel alignment. ( how they did it I don't know ) I drove the car 2 days later fully loadedit was so bad. I took it to Pedder's and they found the following suspension faults. 2 front struts gone. 2 upper control arm bushes worn out. 2 lower control arm bushes worn out. 2 ball joints worn out. Back shocks gone and 2 air bags leaking. Cost $4500.
A year ago I bought my wife a new Yaris from Phil McCarroll Toyota, with the help of Daniel, the sales manager, and James, one of the salesmen. The sales and service were brilliant in all areas, could not be faulted. So in May this year I treated myself to one of the new Corollas using the above team again. My trust in them was justified, faultless the same as last year, and their praise of the new model was spot on. In my opinion it is the best Corolla yet. I really am impressed with the attention and service the whole team demonstrates and would have no hesitation in recommending the dealership to anyone. I will definitely be heading their way in two year's time when it is time to update.
It was an absolute pleasure to deal with the team at Phil McCarroll. The service was the best we experienced when buying our new car - the staff were all friendly, attentive and genuinely helpful regarding our needs. It was such a nice change from our experience with other pushy dealers and we cannot thank them enough for all of their help, in particular Paul Jim. Paul was fantastic from the moment we met him and was the main reason we went back and went ahead with our purchase. George and Ibs were also fantastic and went out of their way to help us in securing our finance and the right deal for us. We cannot recommend them enough. Thanks again, guys!

JUST A SHADE OF HONESTY RE WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE WOULD HAVE BEEN A REASONABLE EXPECTATION BUT NO, GOUGING IS A TYPICAL WAY TO "SERVICE". A LITTLE USED VEHICLE SUPPOSEDLY NEEDED TYRES CHANGED, ROTATION OF THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE BUT THEY DECIDED THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM. DON'T EVER EXPECT TO SEE THIS VEHICLE FOR SERVICING AGAIN. JUDGING BY THE FEEDBACK RE THE SERVICE BUSINESS YOU REALLY NEED TO LOOK AT YOUR BUSINESS, ITS A COMPETITIVE WORLD OUT THERE. SADLY ENOUGH IT NEEDS A RATING WHICH SHOULD BE AVOID (NO STARS)
Last time when I took my car for capped-price service, they had to do a complementary carwash part of the service, but they said the automated carwash is not working and you can all back in a month and get a free carwash. After a month or so I contacted them in that regards and they promised someone would call me back and book my car in but they never called again. I am pretty sure if they just want to sell me a car they would definitely follow it up but give a good service to the customers doesn't seem to be their first priority. Now this is the time for my service again, I will try to avoid them this time and rather to go somewhere else.
Best customer service from sales manager John , Eventhough I didn't ended up buying the car from them because I wanted a particular colour and model used car , unfortunately they didn't have .Otherwise I would defiantly buy the car from them , John was very honest and helpful , I lived far away and he suggested someone could drive the car to me for a test drive , and he gave me informations on how to deal with dishonest dealer which I came across and got scam into forcing me to sign a contract which luckily at the end the problem was resolve , I can't thank you enough for information John gave me , five stars service , thank you very much
I had my car serviced at Phil McCarroll Toyota. Shortly after I had a bereavement in the family so it was two weeks after that I rang them to let them know that one of the hub caps had been missing since the service. The first time my call was returned and I was promised they would get straight back to me. After that I called three more times and each time I was promised someone would get in touch, no one ever did. Finally they told me that it had been too long since the service. Unbelievably poor service, no reason given for not getting back to me. I will never do business with them again. Will by my new car next week somewhere else.
Absolute thieves in the service department. Took it for a full service and it came back with the air-conditioning not working (working fine beforehand). Funny how it was not mentioned on the report. Of course they didn't believe us and then proceeded to 'thoroughly' examine the vehicle and quote $1200 to fix. Took it to another Toyota dealer and they replaced a blown fuse for free. Simple as that. It is my wife's car and asking her what they had done previously I discovered it was not the first time she had been ripped off. Absolutely disgraceful conduct to take advantage of trusting person.

We ended up buying a new car but the experience was fantastic. They were not pushy. They gave us some options and showed us where we could make savings. My wife and I went home and thought about it and then returned the following day and bought a vehicle. When we went to pick it up, they treated us like royalty. We left feeling very happy. Best car purchasing experience I have had.
The team at Phil McCarroll are absolutely amazing! Mum just got her first new car ever and we were referred to Johnathan from Danny. They are incredibly patient, explained everything, especially considering she was changing from manual to automatic. They are all very professional, kind and want to just look after you. Shame that when you book your car in for service, weeks ahead, you arrive first in cue ahead of morning scheduled time, spend a day commuting by train and 15mins prior to pre-arranged afternoon pick-up, you get a phone call that your car has not even been looked at as yet! Not really very impressive, especially when they are very persistent in phoning to book scheduled services ahead of time. Poor organisation or sheer neglect in realising that the car was there for a service?

I was strolling down the Pacific Highway, coffee in hand checking multiple care dealers.I decided to check out Phil McCarroll. A sale person waved at me and Gosh! I strolled out after purchasing a Toyota Accent. A very easy decision.The critical factor was the sale person knew facts, was helpful, respectful, not pushy. Its a beautiful car, smooth to drive, plenty of boot room, flexible finance and of course a great deal. What more can you ask for. Oh what a feeling!
This dealership is the best I have ever experienced. I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone, don't risk going anywhere else. Ontop of all this, when I went to pick up my car it was the week of my birthday and they gave me a birthday gift which was an unexpected and beautiful surprise. What a great place to buy a car. This place breaks all the typical stereotypes associated with car dealers. The team was honest and genuine throughout the whole process. It is a rare thing these days to feel valued as a customer but this team went above and beyond. A special thanks to Conner in Sales and Keith in Finance you both are the ultimate professionals. Next time I need a new car I will save a lot of hassle and start here.
Bought a new Rav a few years ago and loved the attention to details on their service and friendly dealership. Came back a week ago and bought a used demo car and received amazing service (again) looked after me and ensured I left with something that I wanted and a great price and more!! Highly recommend this well oiled team, they definitely looked like they loved working here with translated into great service to their customers

Rang day before, car due in to ask how long it would take, and after speaking with a technician, was told ‘30 minutes from the moment you walk in the door‘. Arrived with intention of waiting while work done, then told it would take at least three hours from when they started, and cannot say when that will be. Had to book a taxi, Very poor and misleading customer service. Will not be returning.
I purchased a used 2012 Yaris Hatch late last year, which I absolutely love, and found the entire team at Phil McCarroll Toyota to be incredibly friendly and welcoming. They cleaned up my car beautifully and made it look brand new, and finance devised a payment plan which was tailored perfectly to my situation. It was simply an outstanding experience which I thoroughly enjoyed! 10/10 :)
I normally go Pennant Hills Toyota to do my car service because they are closest to me. But I then heard Phil McCarroll Toyota won the President Award for dealer for the year and decided to give them a try. Best choice I ever made the service was amazing and they provide muffins for you in the waiting area. I was in and out earlier than expected. I will definitely come back again.
I was passing the Phil McCarroll a month ago and suddenly decided to check the new Toyota's deals, I enter the Phil McCarroll and found the team at Phil McCarroll Toyota very friendly and helpful. They gave me a great deal with the detail information about the cars and finance options and now I have a Camry that I've bough from them. Hope that they keep their quality of service.
Totally professional and friendly service throughout our dealings. Sales approach was very informative as the salesman Daiby walked us through all models that were on display side by side. So we could see and compare each models features at our leisure. Day of delivery was also to highest standard and all features of our new car were clearly explained by sales manager.
Andy Lee sold me a new car and I am thrilled with it. The customer service was great and there was a thorough handing over process on the day of collection by the team. Part of the service arrangement includes a free car check in a month and after that the service costs are really reasonable. So well done Andy and thanks for your assistance during the process.
The most arrogant female sales person ever came cross ... went to Alfa Romeo to check out a car and she acted and behaved that she owns the show room or probably Sydney .. it was pathetic .. she ignored us and paid more attention to two Chinese couple who actually didn’t buy while I was genuinely going there to buy ... shame that they have that mentality
Not helpful and rude. Says manager of Jeep and Renault but I don’t think so! Was after special options on the Jeep Wrangler. Ramsey insisted they do not exist! Which in fact they do because I am already buying off another dealer but they are just too laid back to go and check... well I’m not coming back. Was rude also to other customers in front of us.
You will not get better customer service from any other dealership. What a fantastic experience and it's not been our first time either. Sales, service and the Parts team are all exceptional at what they do! We have recommended family and friends and they have not been disappointed in all their dealings with this company. Highly recommended.
This is the second vehicle we have purchased from Phil McCarroll Toyota, even though this is not the Toyota dealership closest to us. We have been happy with the service and don't feel as though we are just another customer. We are confident they know what they're talking about and are honest. We will continue to use this service.
I have encountered organisations that under-promise so they look good when they deliver BUT Phil McCarroll Toyota over-promised and then over-delivered on the promise. Outrageous strategy !! 5 Stars and 3 Hats to John L in the used car division. It was a great working with you; I am delighted with my new, used car.
They've offered 4-year free servicing on purchasing a new camry, and I've been having a pleasant experience out of it for the last 2.5 years. They will call me to book a service whenever it is due. When I do arrive for the service, staff are friendly and helpful, and tries to make the whole thing very easy for me.

Highly recommended. I was a bit hesitant to finance through a dealership but the Business Manager ibs was very helpful, genuine and informative. He really made the experience pleasant and easy. First dealership I've been to where all the staff are happy and full of energy.
Ive just purchased a used car from Phil McCarroll Toyota. I was working with Connor Rorison who was easy, efficient and very knowledgeable all throughout the process. He is always happy to help in any way and was very quick and responsive with any question I had.
Took my car in for its annual service , did not need a wheel alighnment but they did it anyway. 2010 model Camry . also had an exspensive exhaust sensor replaced which was faulty to begin with I left the dealership feeling ripped off. Mark Andrews
