One star is too much to rate the communication, feedback and follow up of certain administrative staff. My procedure was in September and I still have no feedback regardless of multiple follow up's from my side. Instead of answering this review with a generalized message of thank you, send your details to info@melomed... please get the credit control team to send me the feedback I requested months ago. In future, please consider the impact of making copies of your patient's credit cards as this poses risk of misuse and exploitation if landed in the wrong hands. In addition - staff professionalism and communication: loud discussions of internal issues, staff shortages and complaining about shifts does not enhance the patient experience in any way and in turn contribute towards unease. The first glimpse I saw of my Dr. Was after the theatre procedure, trying to talk to me while I was still semi confused. She was not present when anaethatist started administering anaesthetics. I will not recommend this hospital as it is clear that the patient is not the priority. Continuously saying we will refer and get back to you does not resolve an enquiry. My email address and contact details are already on your system. I would appreciate feedback in writing.
I can only sing the praises of the maternity ward and the Neonatal ward, the Pediatrician Dr Dr Mandy-Lyn Meyer as well as my Obstetrician/Gynaecologist Dr Matshidiso Tisane (She really is the best Dr and I will always speak highly of her because she is a professional and beautiful soul inside and out). I had to have an emergency C-Section after a follow up and was pleasantly surprised. The Drs, nurses, ladies who brought the food and the cleaners were so professional and caring without a fault and this was for both the day and night staff. The maternity ward staff made me feel so taken care of and looked after, that my process wasn't scary at all. The ladies in the Neonatal ward are like fairy god mothers to the little ones as they handled my little one as well as the other babies who were also in the ward with so much love and care that I could leave my little angel there when I had to eat, rest and take my meds because I trusted them wholeheartedly. You ladies deserve so much praise for what you do and I will always speak fondly of you all. Thank you for making sure that myself and my little big baby left the hospital in good health.
Came in for a knee op. There is a stunning staircase as you enter, makes the place look very majestic. Cute little coffee shop, a huge flat-screen in the well lit, reception area. A number system whereby you are called when its your turn to be admitted and an escort to your ward. People are really friendly here. They all greet each other, including you, and laughter is constant in the wards. The wards are bustling, but not noisy. My theatre was alive. I've been in theatre many times, but the atmosphere in this one settled my nerves immediately. My 2 specialists (orthopedic =Dr AA Rawoot; anesthetist = Dr Maharaj) were exceptional and deserve their own reviews. Even the pharmacy was amazing, allowing us to have coffee at the adjacent Wiesenhof shop while they prepared our script, which was delivered to our table by the friendly pharmacist, Natalie. This hospital is so clean!! And when mistakes are made, the staff are very humble and apologetic...even when they didn't need to be
Absolutely awful service from start to finish. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Patient came in as an emergency. Was only given medication 7 hours later and attending ward physician only appeared more than 24 hours after admission. No training on patients with anxiety and physician could not be bothered to spend more than 2 minutes talking with patient. Completely ignored family concerns too. He was in a great hurry to leave. When family asked the nurses how the patient was overnight, they answered followed by a roll of the eyes and laughing. When we went to visit later in the day, two staff members had created an office space in the ward. There was also no paperwork from the emergency room doctors so they had no idea what was happening to the patient. SHOCKING regard for mental health issues too. From all the staff and the attending GP
My spouse was admitted to Melomed Tokai Hospital for a duration of one week. Throughout the entire process, spanning from admission to the point of discharge, our interaction with every staff member at Melomed Hospital was truly outstanding! Over the course of that week, I frequented the hospital premises regularly and each time, I was greeted by friendly faces, warm smiles, and cordial greetings, all within an impeccably hygienic setting. The medical practitioners displayed genuine concern and affability, while the nursing staff exhibited a combination of friendliness and helpfulness. This was an unprecedentedly positive encounter within a healthcare facility for me. Well done to Melomed! Your commitment goes beyond simply providing excellent care to your patients; you also create an atmosphere where they feel valued and cared for.
Usually this is one of the departments that can be quite chaotic, dealing with a lot of hard things but I am so grateful for the good experience we had. Last week we arrived at the ER as my son had fallen and needed stitches on his forehead, Dr Fatima was tending to my son (with his dad with him), while I waited in the waiting room with my daughters - the 2 ladies at reception were friendly and very thoughtful, handing my girls a book and colours to keep them busy while we waited. We had to return the Sunday to have the plaster removed and today he had his stitches removed (different Dr but also very lovely). Every step of the process was handled professionally and the staff friendly too. Thanks so much for the good experience and keep up the great work you do!
On the 27th July after 10pm I walked into emergency for stitches that I needed. I was only attended to 3 hours later having to ask when am I even getting something for pain. After 12 I get attended to and get billed to my med aid for 2 days that I have spent in the hospital. I don't think that is right at all. Even though it is medical aid they claimed through.... it came from my savings onto medical aid. This is not the first time I have a problem with them... few years ago I was admitted into icu on disprin for a week a couple years ago. And they couldn't explain to me why they keeping me there. They just like to eat on medical aids and I am going to report this. I thought they have changed but now I know to never set foot there again
Not bad BUT could still be better on the Client service side. Emergency side staff: friendly yes BUT they were sooo much more on the payment [I feel that was a bit harsh] I informed them how I felt. We know it's a private hospital and costly...and as expected the best service is part of the package as they should provide for the price tag. They were okay and that was it. Not having medical aid should not define 'peoples financial status' as there are many people that don't actually have medical aid for multiple reasons... We eventually ended up in a public hospital after 'a big fat cash bill' because the budget did not allow a few days admission stays there at that time unfortunately due to other priorities.
Overall experience was extremely great, the staff is very good at what they do, the doctors that treated my son (Dr R Moore and Dr A Najjaar) are extremely good at what they do and i am extremely pleased by their services. Im truly grateful for everything they did for my son, the way they worked with him and the care given was absolutely amazing. The theater staff are just as awesome and friendly, giving constant updates where they can during my baby's procedure and giving me assurance that they will take good care of him every time he needed to go into theater. The wifi just needs a serious upgrade as the signal is very bad
My husband went for a biopsy in March, and service was not first class.....I was expecting a similar service like Constantiaberg, but alas not. Unfortunately, the doctor specialises at Melomed Tokai, because if we had a choice we would not go back to Melomed. Now he has to go back there on Tuesday(15th August), and I am already anxious, cos not sure what to expect. What happened to client service, why do they advertise professional service, if the staff clearly don't know what that is. So, come the 16th, I will load another review, hopefully, it'll be better?
My 13 month old baby was suffering for days and no normal GPs could diagnose what is wrong with my baby until I went to emergency at Melomed. From the amazing meet and greet rushing my daughter in to make sure she is seen too, they admitted her and comforted me as a worried mom, they assured me she will be taken care of ..I thank all the nursing staff with in the baby/toddler ward and Doctors .. she was cared for from all .. I watched as they cared for each child coming in and it really warmed my heart.. the best service I was ever given !!
I just spent 7 days at Melomed to treat my pneumonia, and I’m blown away by the amazing service this hospital offers. Every nurse, every doctor, every catering person is so so kind, informed, caring and respectful. It feels like everyone goes the extra mile. Every second day someone from customer service comes to check with each individual patient if you have any complaints . The place is so clean, nothing is broken, the food was quite good. It’s a little far from home for me but worth the trip, I won’t go anywhere else. Highly recommend.
Not the best service. My wife was in casualties and an IV line suppose to be put in her right arm. The nurse struggled with putting the line and my wife kept complaining of pain in her arm, because the nurse put it in the wrong location and now my wife has a big purple bruise on her arm. I requested a certificate the day of discharge and was told by the nurse that it will be emailed to me, as I need it for work. It's been almost 24 hours and I haven't received anything. I will keep searching for the best hospital
I was treated like royally from the time I entered till I left. its was awesome seeing stsff passionate treatment of how thry handle patience. Thank u including my dr awartu for hus professional services everything was up to up amazing standards I was honored to he treated in the best of manners. Even the hicup that I have can cqn be overlooked as there were much more highlights that then that one small incident. Thank you tokai fid u 5 star treatment I really enjoyed my stay
I wouldn't recommend Dr Tisane to anyone. I lost my daughter at 38 weeks due to her negligence. She didn't pick up the fact that i had pre-eclampsia and protein in my urine. I was so swollen but she didn't pick up anything. She knew i had contracted high blood pressure in my pregnancy but booked me 3 weeks later. Until this day 8 months ago, i didnt receive one phone call nor results of my placenta. Insensitive, incompetent and unprofessional team.
My first time using Melomed. I visited the emergency unit during Sunday evening for my daughter.I thought the experience would be long and traumatic. Well done to the amazing front desk assistant Chad Adam's,he booked us in and was very thorough, able to answer all my questions. The 2 nurses and Dr that assisted were very efficient and put my daughter at ease.Thank you ladies. Painless, quick and effecient healthcare service.Excellent team work.
Will never go to this hospital ever again, it's very similar to a public hospital, rude staff form the receptionist to the nurses with the exception of a few. Then it's like a prison with very odd visiting hours. If been admitted during Covid previously and I thought it was due to covid regulations but it's just the way it is. Then asking to transfer to Constantia is another mission, they lie. I cannot believe how normalized being rude is.
Maternity ward staff and nurses were wonderful, compassionate and caring. They were very helpful with baby especially, sister Chantelle & sister Avril really took their time to make sure I was confident with breastfeeding and bathing/ caring for baby. Clean wards, food was good, but the friendly staff made it a very pleasant stay. Would definitely recommend giving birth there.
The best hospital experience we've ever had, my wife recently gave birth at Melomed Tokai. Every single visit was special, all the staff are extremely friendly, polite and provide service with a smile. The food was fresh tasty. The hospital is always clean, parking was safe and easy, even the night staff was amazing. I could not recommend you guys more, just been the best!!
I have had my fair share of hospitalisations over the past 20 years, since my diagnosis when I was around 13years old. I have never had such a lovely overall everperience. Every person I interacted with from the ground up was so professional, genuinely kind and really nice. It was a breath of fresh air. I would 100% recommend! Thank you Melomed Tokai ❤️
I won't lie, I was very nervous and did not know what to expect. The Dr who attended to me in trauma was Dr.Kharki she was absolutely amazing and made me feel at ease and explained everything to me throughout.. I have no words, she is just amazing right through to the nurses who were on duty and throughout my stay. Keep up the good work!!
My parents where admitted to hospital for a week and Melomed Tokai had made the traumatic experience they had been affected by such a relief with their amazing service and support. Special thanks to Dr Ntuli and his amazing team of nurses for their awesome service. They are extremely Greatful for how they have treated them. Thank you!
Dear Melomed Tokai. Thank you to everyone for making my stay wonderful. Each and every staff member was excellent. Already being in a stage of panic and uncertainty, everyone's kindness was beyond my expectations. Your staff members from being to the end was an absolute God sent. Be blessed and keep up with the excellent service.
All the staff at the facility is amazing, they strive for service excellence and execute their duties to the very best of their abilities. A pleasant and tranquil environment for all patients. The best Melomed branch i have been privileged to be at. Well done to Management and Staff for your professionalism and friendliness.
What an incredible experience, staff were patient and showed empathy and always smiling no matter how exhausted they were. It was much appreciated. All the best to each and every staff member. The Doctors are so amazing and put you at ease and explain the procedure so beautifully. Thank you Doctors especially Dr RM Atwaru.
My second time in less than a month at this brilliant hospital. What stands out most are the staff members, all the way from porters to doctors! Friendly kind, caring, and empathetic all the way. We live 172km's away, but is more than happy to make the trip to this hospital. Very, very well deserved 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My father was admitted to Tokai Melomed on Friday the 6th of October 2023. He got discharged on Wednesday the 11th of October. Shocking treatment from the two Drs that were helping him. DR Tom and Dr Ntuli. I would never advise anybody to go back to that hospital as i almost lost my father due to negligence.
The nurses were all so kind and willing to help. Thank you for the friendly reliable service. The nurses and person who helped me with the meals deserve a 11/10! The meals were also very delicious. The roast chicken and vegetables were cooked perfectly. Nothing better than a great meal after a surgery.
I came in for the operation of sinus and tonsils.Your service was remarkable, all your staff members (securities, receptionists, porters, nurses, doctors, cleaners ,kitchen staff etc )were very friendly and dedicated to their jobs. Thanks a million for your outstanding service.
From being a patient myself to being the parent of a patient all 3 my visits to the hospital was good security is on point staff are kind very helpful the facilities are always clean the food tastes like it's made with love melomed hospital is home away from home.
Words cannot convey or express the dedication, care and professionalism displayed by especially the nursing staff during my five-day stay at Tokai Melomed. I personally think that they have gone beyond the call of duty to make my stay as comfortable as possible.
I spend a few days in Melomed a few things happen but what stood out that i feel that i was in a prison. What they dont understand that you need your family when you are sick. The security walking up and down during visiting time like our visitors is criminals.
I was hospitalised for more than a week, it felt like I was at home, from the emergency crew when I came in to the nurses, hostesses, cleaners. I’m still not sure if I went for vacation/ rest or sick. Great service great staff …
I had a great experience with Melomed Tokai. From being admitted to discharge, the doctors were professional and gave good information. I understood what w happening at all times. I was referred quickly to a specialist who came to chat with
The whole medical staff in High care ward is fully qualified and good in their field and each one knows what his or her part the medical chain is .From the cleaners to the nursing staff nightshift or day shift and also the hospitality …
One of the nicest hospitals I've ever been too. All staff from the receptionists to nurses, sisters all the way up just give 100% . Wards on nice and clean and fresh, you're made to feel welcome. Thank you Melomed hospitals and all its staff.
This is an excellent health facility with courteous, knowledgeable and helpful staff in every department, from the parking attendants who direct you as you enter the parking lot, to the security who greet you at the front door, ward staff
Melomed Tokai, I take my hat off to your facility, absolutely world class. When I arrived I was assisted efficiently and professionally by Byron, didn't take more than 10mins. The nursing staff in the day ward were friendly and caring. Dr
I was rushed to the emergency unit and from the time of arrival I was sincerely greeted by administrators and nursing staff who dealt with my healthcare with utmost importance. I was further seen by emergency unit Doctors and there after
We are so thankful to Melomed Tokai, the staff of the high care facility and Dr J Naidoo for their attentive and excellent care towards our uncle that was admitted for 2 weeks at the beginning of September 2023. We are extremely grateful.
Three stars because although the doctors are wonderful and the nurses were helpful the security in the front were rude and arrogant wouldn’t let me see my minor child who was on her own . This is the first pint of call in the hospital.
Good clean hospital, with good signage and all new equipment. There is plenty of paid parking with the first hour free. The entrance and parking is wheelchair friendly. I was served swiftly in the xray department with no issues.
All the staff are caring quick and efficient in what they do. Ward care is really great, clean, tidy, sterile look and feel to the bathrooms. Thank you MELOMED TOKIA for making my stay pleasant and for the great care.
Absolutely worst service ever. My brother in law is at this hospital since Sunday, wephoned everyday but nobody can tell us what is happening. We were promised that the doctor will phone us but we still waiting!!!!
Very happy with Emergency section at Tokai Melomed today when my mom was brought in. She was attended to very soon. Friendly staff. Good communication from all staff who were attending to her. Thank you.
I had a wonderful stay at melomed the staff were so helpful and friendly, from the reception to the ward . Everyone played a big role throughout my stay. Thank you melomed tokai am impressed.
Highly trained and courteous staff, I had the lovely Dr Moodley who was invested in my recovery journey and well-being. Amazing food! Very clean! Well organised and ventilated wards.
Excellent staff and service! The exterior needs to be painted as it looks so poorly but it’s an excellent hospital on the inside, better service and staff than Mediclinic CB!
Excellent health care services received. Specialists are the best. Nursing staff are professional, efficient and very caring. …
A positive experience. Attentive, caring nurses who acted promptly and effectively when needed. Also everyone had a pleasant disposition which goes a long way
Beautiful Hospital, Friendly staff, Top class Dr's, Specialists, Reception staff very efficient. Definitely my Choice of Private Hospitals in Cape Town.
Doctors know what they are doing and they are gentle. All staff members that I came into contact, are good for their service rendered.
Loved everything about this hospital! The food was amazing, friendly staff etc. 10/10 better than the other Melomed Branches
Great birthing experience! Extremely satisfied with the care of the staff and resources, and very good hospital food!
Experience was good. It all depends on the leadership skills of the ward manager. Thumbs up for the day clinic …
Staff was kind and friendly. I received excellent service from all. Well done Melomed Tokai, keep up the great work.
I felt very cared for and safe. The hospital is clean and lovely and the smiling, attentive nurses are welcoming.
This is my second stay at Melomed Tokai and I can honestly say that the service is exceptionally amazing!
The best you can get in SA! Dr Moydien rescued my life by removing tromboses from my leg and abdomen.
Enjoyed my stay here, very thorough nursing in Day ward where I was, so so happy ❤️
