I've gone here occasionally for years, but more often in the past 9 months or so, since my income has allowed for it. The massages I've had have varied from fair-to-good up to really excellent. At $40 and hour, the price is good, and they have a "Buy 5, get 6" deal where you pay $200 in advance for six one-hour massages, bringing the price-per down to $32. However, I do have one complaint. I usually tip the masseuse $10 ,which on a $40 massage is 25%. Research I've done on line suggests this is a perfectly reasonable if not slightly generous amount (most opinions I find seem to indicate that 20% is typical). And most of the time, this has seemed acceptable, but on two occasions now, I've had complaints from the technician. The first one's English was a bit hard to understand, and at first I thought she was trying to tell me I had tipped too much, which surprised me (actually, that was a particularly good session and I probably *would* have tipped a few dollars more, but $10 was all the cash I had on me that day) - it was only after I left that I realized she was saying the opposite. A few weeks later, when I tipped $10, a different tech flat-out told me that it should be $20. Apart from the fact that they seem to be asking for much more than what seems reasonable, I find it pretty gauche to complain directly to a customer about the size of a gratuity, and it definitely disinclines me from taking my business there. The location is very convenient for me, but there are alternatives that are just as inexpensive and not much farther away.

First time customer. Tried the 90 minute massage, they offered $5 discount for cash. Able to book appointment easily. Called the evening before for next day appointment. Ample parking in a small corner shopping center. Nothing fancy here. In fact my massage table did not have the typical head rest, just a cloth donut shaped home made looking “rest” that was so low, I had to turn my head in order to breath. They didn’t ask anything, just brought me to my room, no instructions about getting undressed, nothing about specific areas to focus on or type of pressure. Or areas to avoid. Lucky for me, I know to ask and speak up. I specifically requested extra time on scalp, hands and feet. Thus the 90 minutes. Got a little extra scalp time, not much at all on hands, but did get the foot scrub at the end. Exfoliation was a bit rough. Too much scrub material. No aromatherapy if you like that. Just massage oil applied generously. Warm towels to wipe off massage oils was a nice touch and enjoyed the hot stones. Also had heat table mat turned on as room was a bit chilly. It was very quiet when I went, late morning, on a Friday but you can tell the walls are thin. So could be very noisy with multiple clients as therapist had to leave the room for towels and hot stones three times. I tried it because my regular therapists are either relocating or not available the day I wanted so I might come back here as it’s close to home. Overall typical good value at ~ $1/minute.

Found Mesa Spa with Groupon but if you call them they’ll honor the same price and you can book directly which saves them fees. I read other reviews so I knew to expect a modest look. It’s a two store strip, next to 7-11. But this massage was the BEST massage I’ve ever had. I prefer one that actually works out my tight muscles and tension vs a nice rub down which has its own place. Grace was my therapist and she has insane skills! Super nice, checked on pressure twice, warmed up the room since it was a little cold. Her technique - I felt relief from the start. Hot stones and foot scrub were nice but I’d not usually add that. I will absolutely be back for treatments!

My experience was very odd. I ended up getting a 45 minute massage instead of 60 minutes that consisted of pushing on me rather then massaging my shoulders and upper back like requested. 15 minutes of my 45 minutes was rubbing on my butt, which I kept asking the tech to move up to my upper back.. I paid for my massage before even getting my massage. Afterwards I was harassed to tip with my card, I told her I would run next door to 7 /11 to grab cash and a drink. She came out to make sure I was at 7 /11 getting cash. At that point I tipped her only $5 for the being pushy and following me. I usually tip based on the service. Won't be going back or sending anyone.

Under average massage quality. No seating while waiting. Had to wait for other couple to be finished and when they were we were put in a back room while they left. Upon leaving was pressured to tip more. Personally i tip based on quality of product so i felt 15 was decent. Was then harrassed to charge my card for more and they complained that none of the 72 my wife and i paid went to the business and they did not get any of it that their income was based solely on tips. I dont know if thats completely legal for a business to do but, i dont work for labor and industries. Would have gotten 3 and a half stars if it wasnt for the harrassment for a tip.

I was looking for a place for a massage and came across this new place called Mesa spa . The price is reasonable and I was looking for a lower back massage and shoulders . The masseuse a pretty young woman with very strong hands and great massage skills . She started with very medium pressure massage and increase from there. This was to take out the knots in my back and shoulders . She told me that she was a California license Massage Therapist well over 700 hours of skills hours. She had an accent but her English was very clear . I surely will go back many times again . It's hard to find a good masseuse but when you find one better stick with it.

5 stars for Daniel. Just did a 60 minute foot massage and he was excellent. He is strong and he asked me throughout whether the pressure was right and adjusted accordingly. I bought a buy 5 get 1 free package. At $20 for a massage and $10 tip, this place is the best value in San Diego. Funny note, he had 2 regulars before and after me. Both were attractive women so he knows how to adjust strength. Note, for cheapskates out there that don't understand that for cheap places the standard tip is 50 percent, please don't ruin another good masseuse into leaving San Diego.

I went here with a Groupon with my boyfriend. We had 2 totally different experiences. Mine was basically an oil rub down, no pressure or technique whatsoever . I left feeling the same way I went in except all greasy. My boyfriend said he felt like he got beat. . And he left more painful then he went in. Either way, you can tell that there is no one actually trained as a masseuse. Waste of money, we will not be going back. Would have gave only 2 stars but the ladies were nice enough and it was relatively clean

I have been wanting to get a massage lately and came across Mesa spa which is close to my stay and it have really good reviews so I decided to give it a go. The people are right. This place is great. I picked the 90 min Thai massage with foot exfoliation. The massage was excellent, reminded me of massages I had in Thailand. Good stretching, firm pressure and she worked on the spots that needed work. Walking out there with significant reduced back pain was awesome. Price is reasonable too. 5/5 would recommend.

You come in with gratitude and they take care of you! I had some back pain troubling me and Linda really helped me out! Bit of a language barrier but they're very patient and attentive, I pointed to my glute med/min which was really feeling tightness and she had no issue readdressing the area. It was almost like being in a hyperbaric time chamber I almost couldn't believe how much work she did in an hour! I've been here a few times and had other therapists and can say they also do quality work; I am thankful

This is the third time that I’ve been to this spa as it’s down the street from my house. The masseusers there are very well skilled and work on your body in an unbelievable manner, so much so that each time if given them a BIG tip! I opted for the 60 minute body massage with hot stones and foot exfoliation and asked for firm massage and heat on the stones—which alone are amazing!!! Anna was my masseuse and she did even more than that ;and she has some strong fingers/hands)! I highly recommend this Spa!

Mike performed a strong full body massage and really worked out some knots in my neck and shoulders. However there was some room for improvement - the sheets were not very soft and smelled a bit musty, I would suggest they implement essential oil spray for scent and a little aromatherapy. Hot stones were only used for a few minutes out of the 90 minute massage, I would’ve liked longer. The entrance/lobby is not very inviting but inside was surprisingly quiet even though it’s next to a 7-11.

Overall good massage, and felt very relaxed after. Booked 90 min massage through ClassPass for $65. At very end, I was greeted by a man at the counter who kept repeating to tip, then pointed at the ATM machine to pull cash for tip, and then pointed at the 90 min massage on the board for $120 and told me to tip off of the $120. I hadn’t been out the massage for more than a minute. I wanted to tip out of appreciation as the massage was good but I felt forced/pressured to tip before leaving.

Super weird. My masseuse answered her phone 3 times during the massage and talked to creepy sounding guys that were like "yeah I'll be there in 20 minutes baby". She also left the room about 4 or 5 times for probably a total of 10 minutes. The massage itself was medium, I've had much better and worse. It felt like she was just going through the motions and didn't really care. The stomach massage part was a bit odd too. For $40 though...maybe all the rudeness is worth it to some people?

Boyfriend and I got massages as an anniversary gift to ourselves. One of the best massages I've had (including in Thailand)! I like really firm pressure vs a light rub down and they definitely delivered. I forgot to ask his name, but my masseuse was a man. He also checked us in and was super nice. Great service. Like many others, found on Groupon but called to book and they matched the price. They prefer cash.

The massage was great my only issue was at the end when I asked for change of a 20dllr and the massagist keept 15dllrs had the audacity to tip herself I asked for my money back that's when the lady said well how much do you want to tip At that point I feelt pressured and uncomfortable and I told her 12dllrs to be honest I didn't want to tip anything due to the unpleasant experience.not coming back here again.

Okay. I guess this is not my usual place. And I guess there is a learning process between masseur and massaged. But coming out, I had a distinct feeling that my body had just been rubbed instead of massaged. I felt worse after. I can also confirm the general sense of being harassed for tips. Mediocre massage. Mediocre service. I won't probably go here again. But good luck to these people. They'll need it.

I normally only do 60 minute massages but wanted a little more TLC. My friend and I booked a reservation and received a 90 minute Thai combo massage with hot stones. We really needed the stretches, I laughed out loud at one point and the massage therapist laughed with me :) I had Mia, highly recommended, very attentive. She put in a LOT of work so I tipped well and I suggest anyone do the same.

I had a wonderful experience here! The facility was very calming and clean right from the start. The lady that came in had very strong arms and hands. She was gentle when positioning me. Very good communication and ensured that I was fine with the pressure she used. My back was very tight, afterwards I felt so so much better. She was quick but thorough and at no point did I feel rushed.

I was feeling sore from the gym and needed a massage, found this place, booked an appointment for 1hr later and Anna gave me the most relaxing full body massage from my had to my toes with hot stones, I felt so relaxed that I barely could walk and talk when I left the place, I highly recommend Anna, the best massage I had in a while, I’ll definitely become a regular! Got the 60 min with hot stone & exfoliation. It felt pretty good, the lady applied a good amount of pressure. I was surprised she also put me in stretches that were good. I didn’t like the exfoliation part as much, the hot stones were ok but I got a Groupon for that so it was worth a try. If go back but just get the normal massage without the stones and exfoliation.

This place is amazing. Do not be deterred by the 7-11 parking lot or no-frills exterior, this place works magic. I got a 60 minute massage with hot stones and foot exfoliation and I left so refreshed. Make sure to bring cash for a tip, but if you forget there’s an atm in the lobby as well as a chase bank right around the corner. I highly recommend this place!

My first time here through class pass so I was a little skeptical especially since the outside looks a bit different but let me tell you …the 90 minute massage I received here was amazing. I am very picky and particular about massages and I left here a very satisfied customer. Lisa was skilled and know about what my body needed today. I will def be back.

Super friendly, they match their price with Groupon, I had full body massage and it was very relaxing. Hot stone and towel was just (chef kiss). They got busy at the end of my session but the sweet lady still did the whole session even pass my 1-hour session. Next time I’m definitely taking my bf with me. I really appreciate how they focus on every body part, even parts other massage places don't pay attention to like arms, fingers, neck, and head! Extremely relaxing experience.

We booked two 60 min body massages with hot stones and foot exfoliation through Groupon and we really enjoyed them. The outside of the place looks a bit worn down and the inside isn't a luxurious spa by any means, but the masseuses were great. We were pleasantly surprised throughout the whole experience and will be back again.

Been here a handful of times. You can’t beat the prices, $20 for an hour long foot massage, were they also do a brief, clothes on body massage! Every time I’ve gone back it’s LITERALLY gotten better, every single time. It’s great, at this point I think I found my favorite person, Daniel. He’s amazballs. I couldn’t be happier!!

Wow... GO! I am a nurse so I get massages at least monthly and I need them to be effective. This was absolutely effective, Anna did an amazing job. I asked her to focus on my shoulders and neck with firm pressure and she delivered. 90 mins of bliss. I will 100% be going back to see Anna.

I used a Groupon to go to get a massage with hot stones. This was my first time having hot stones with a massage. It was very nice. I run and so my legs and feet tend to get really sore; this massage was very relaxing and rejuvenating. My masseuse was Vivi. I highly recommend Mesa Spa.

The massage that Mike gave me was phenomenal! I have had Thai massages in the past, and Mike is one of the best therapists to give me a massage. He focused on the obviously tense parts of my back and neck. The entire environment was comfortable and relaxing throughout the massage.

First time I’ve ever been asked to pay before a massage. But I can see why. My rubber of lotion did a great job at that and had no rhyme or reason for her performance. If you need a good place to go to get some lotion rubbed in than this is your spot, and I’ll leave it at.

Massage was nice enough but the spa was run down and dirty, very cheap as they used paper towels around the face rest instead of real towels and twice during my massage the lady was sitting on my massage table which made me a bit uncomfortable.

I go to Daniel regularly as as a very competitive triathlete (now retired) and having 2 hip fractures he is keeping me very active. He knows what I need and the bonus stretching has helped me be able to continue the 3 sports I love.

Easy to schedule appointments. Walk in is accepted. I had one therapist that was great, the other one was so so. Kind of hit and miss. If you find a good one, remember her/his name and ask for it.

I fell asleep. It was a deep tissue that was easily adjusted as my masseuse asked early one to ensure my desired pressure. She was methodical and calm. I will recommend and return again and again.
