"I will never return"
I was slammed into, pushed so hard by a cashier who didn't look in front of herself as she ran. She barreled into me super hard... that I, a Sr. lady in my 70's, almost fell. She was having fun running somewhere, her head turned away...like a football player! Paid to play, it seems. Games galore in store...Run w/o looking is her job: to assault people on cashiers line, trying to pay, I got tackled. Other nearby workers just looked on, silently... I steadied myself, spoke very crossly to her, then left + phoned from home, telling manager, who said "Why didn't you tell me while you were there, in the store? That's what you should 've done!" Really? That's it? What I should have done? I will never go back there! Anyway, prior to this, I noticed that there's no Security to protect customers ever. Crazed abusive loud strangers can verbally abuse + threaten me and others at will. This has happened to me, and to others I've seen. no staff address this. And I've seen that when kids dash IN the OUT door, some on skate boards, also without warning or looking, no staff cares at all. So, I never go into this place, I find it a very dangerous store. Also, you'd best know your prices, if you do venture in; they used to try to charge higher prices at check-out than listed on shelves, sometimes even on flyers, when I still shopped there. Buyer BEWARE! I'd give this No stars, if I could. It should be officially inspected, and closed.
Unfortunately, this is the closest convenient grocery store to me. Therefore I shopped there frequently. The selection of items are not that big, but some gets me by. My biggest complaint is the INCOMPETENT and the RUDENESS I just experienced earlier today ( around 8:50 a.m. on Sept. 8,2014). I picked a few items and went straight to check out. I greeted the light-skin chubby girl with glasses (3rd to the back) cashier...she ignored me. Fine, I let that slide. Then she snatched the money out of my hand, and shoved the change right back into my hand. She turned her back without saying "Thank you" and started texting on her phone. I tried to move on giving her the benefit of the doubt that she may have had a rough morning. But as I reached home, it still bothered me. I was told by my family members that was a total disrespectful thing she did and I should have immediately complained to the store manager...REGARDLESS of the problems she has in personal life. Not only am I still annoyed about the unprofessional cashier, but I was upset with myself for not addressing this matter AT THE STORE. My advice to those, who will continue to shop at Fine Fare Supermarket on 175 Clinton St, is to do the opposite of what I did and watch the employees attitude and put them in check. I am planning to go back, but this time my mouth WILL be opened.
Don't buy the hard, rough, bright yellow squashes! When you steam it, the outer texture never gets tender, but inside is mushy with large like watermelon seeds! I cooked one and brought the other back to the store and I believe they put it back in the produce area! Please be sure to keep your receipt of purchase. Especially if it includes produce! I didn't have my receipt and the manager"s entire bodily composure demonstrated he became very irritable for my returned item. "One doesn't always know store policy until there"s an issue." Manager has poor customer service possibly because he's nervous Target is coming soon (Aug 19) and I hear Trader Joe as well. And he's probably paranoid that people who are not of his ethnicity are out to ripe him off because he has an attitude problem! WATCH YOUR PRICES...ESPECIALLY AT CHECK OUT!!!!
The supermarket has the worst customer service of any supermarket in downtown area never could keep a staff on a regular basis change on a regular basis of a price anacusis neighborhood locals of stealing from them this is why the volume in the store has come down Jarvis is not assisting customers have dropped them or because they sell old old old old meet and the chickens at the end of the refrigerator I usually expired I give the supermarket on 1 - 0 because that's what they deserve and I want to make this public and I will put this on any any media from Facebook the Twitter to let them know not to shop in a supermarket with their higher and confident and in different staff this is not the store to go shopping for food if you want to save money and if you want respect but the cashier this is not the place to go to
I will never return. Witnessed 3 staff play cowboys and violently pin a man of color to the ground for 10 long minutes while they called the police to report him for stealing a large quantity of ice cream (probably to resell, whatever, desperate acts in desperate times). I screamed for them to let him go, and to stop holding him by the neck. Every staff, especially the bald night manager w glasses, minimized my concerns. Even ridiculed me when I eventually left (only after police intervention). I repeated they were putting us all in harm and this was NOT protocol or even legal. As if the laughably high prices for basic goods and expired meats and dairy wasn’t enough reason to stay away. The LES needs more healthy, affordable, safe supermarkets.
This grocer is lovely with great prices. The deli provides premade food fresh all the time. I lost my wallet after leaving the grocery recently and I went back the next day and they were kind enough to pull up video---their surveillance is the bomb!---and it showed me putting the wallet in my fanny pack. Problem was my fanny pack was full of things from work and I didn't zip it up--as their very CLEAR video showed, so of course the thing fell out later in transit. Compassionate and happy employees, great, prices, and clean organized welcoming store. And please do try the deli-made pico de gallo found in the vegetable asile, in over 4 varieties, the loaded one with fresh garlic is fire and I swear cures the common cold.
Wow... Some of the reviews I just read are right on the money about the staffs and cashier girls or guys that are indifferent or rude what have you. I thought I was the only one that was treated like that... Some did called me racial names last year or so... I let that go but it still bothered me. I think they rip off their customers at the over priced deli section. During lunch hour they can care less about their customers waiting for service because they're too busy making lunches for themselves and yes taking lunch orders and too busy preparing lunch for their cashier co-workers. How ghetto is that? Well, it seems like the only supermarket in the neighborhood. :-(
Very bad customer service on the Clinton Street Lower East Side of Manhattan Fine Fare Market..entire staff especially cashiers .....stock Clerks block shelves with the wagons customers are not able to grab products from the shelves...... if you ask a staff member for help they do not help you they get upset. I'm not saying that you shouldn't talk to each other but when you have customers on lines you should concentrate on the customer not on your co-worker next to you. Also communication is very important if someone speaks to you in the English you should be able to understand not look at someone else so that they could translate for you. they need training
Most recent EDIT : THE FOOD IS ALWAYS EXPIRED ! Check your items before you pick up ANYTHING Today in January there are fruits on the shelves that expired November of 2022 Some of the juices are being sold the same day of the expiration date The ready prepared foods / salsas etc don’t even last a day or two out !!! The list goes on ! The meat always has a weird smell . Today the lights were out in the meat department which is a clear hazard !!! I WILL NEVER RETURN First review : Seems like literally all of the women who are cashiers don’t want to be there . Rude , slow , they walk off on you . Just disgusting , not even a greeting.
This is the worst supermarket, sadly up until recently it was the only supermarket in the neighborhood and the owners knew that quite well. Ever since Pathmark went out of business this fine fare and their sister store on Grand became the only ones in the neighborhood. They raised all of their prices to ridiculous levels to take advantage of everyone that has to shop there. The cashier's are some of the nastiest rudest people I have ever come across. Avoid at all costs, Trader Joe's opened across the street which was a god send. Their meat always looks old and most everything in the store is overpriced.
If you are old enough to remember it, there used to be an oddly entertaining game show called Supermarket Sweep, where customers had to guess prices of items, try to blindly make their cart equal a dollar amount, etc. Shopping at Fine Fare is a lot like playing Supermarket Sweep. The items either lack price tags, have wrong price tags, or mismatched price tags. Despite there being laws around correct pricing at stores, the staff doesn't seem to care much. So unless you like being kept in the dark on what the items you are trying to choose cost, stay away. It's a lot more fun to watch on TV.
I was trying to talk to KEVIN the night manager who he would not listen to me at all. AT ALL. and the other guy standing beside me said they have no manager at night. Etc. Etc long story short. I ended up getting FREE HOTDOGS .and change back because he would not listen to me. So for all manager across the world. Please listen to ur customers and then handle the issue. So in the long run when inventory comes u aren't short. Worst supermarket in my area .THE BEST IS TRADER JOE'S ACROSS. which I should had gone from the get.
I come here often since it’s close to my house. In general it’s clean and well stocked, a good place to get vegetables, dry goods, dairy etc. However, I stay away from that fine fare branded meats since it always have this distinct preservative smell (spam like) - especially the beef or it smells expired. In a pinch I only get chicken from other brands. Customer service is average, they’re nice but it’s easier to find it yourself than get help since most of the time they actually don’t know.
I’m giving it 3 stars based on their produce which is better and more fresh than Trader Joe’s. This supermarket is NO LONGER FINE FARE. My biggest complaint is their prices. Since they took over their prices are 50% higher than Fine Fare. They really done have sales anymore unless you consider Haagen Daz pints 2 for $8.99 a sale. I do have to say that the sore is WAY cleaner than FF ever was and I really like the new management. A new bunch of guys who are sweet and helpful.
Ever since the switch to metro the prices have gotten ridiculous. They stock over priced gourmet item that nobody wants to appease the rich who don't shop there. They don't hire anyone who is not Latino and just once I'd like to get a answer to a question in english. Western beef should take over that spot. Metro sucks. Almost forgot the smelly meats. A slight chemical smell. And someone needs to tell them to stop passing off tiny pidgon wings as chicken wings.
Worst cashiers, they give attitude to clients. When client go there with wic programs they closed their register not to do the wic Manager by the name Alfonzo the worst, he speak very rude, dont help clients to find the items. Items been label wrong, if u ask the manager Alfonso, he just stay in the front and give you attitude, and if you paying with a credit card, and it wont swip, he would comment "thats how people do their trick and steal" worst manager .
Only use cash!!! I used my card here and was charged $50 more! Didn't notice till I got home. Went back and complained and was told that mistakes can happen. No credit. No refund. No apology. This supermarket sells products that are about to expire with a mark up. Their meats are absolutely disgusting and will be rotten one day after purchase. Stay clear and go to trader Joe's for fresh foods. This place is only good for canned goods and a few other items.
It's a chain of ghetto supermarkets, you kinda know what to expect. It's just .. sorta .. there. They try to renovate to keep up with gentrification in the nearby area, expanding the organic food areas like people who get that overpriced crap aren't just going to make the extra trip to Trader Joe's and Whole Paycheck anyway. Sometimes they have good sales, and their staff is helpful, but you really gotta get their attention first.
Watch what they scan at the register, a few times it comes up with incorrect prices thus overcharging you. Most of the shelves do not have prices so you can't compare brands. I buy whatever is on the flyer so at least I know what I am paying for. It's an upscale bodega at best. If it weren't for Pathmark going out of business I would not have stepped foot in here.
This is my Store lol. I shop here every single day. From experience I can tell you Metro is Clean, organized and it's easy to find items. Not to mention fast service and yes great customer service as well. There is something for everybody. Hot food grab and go's, Fresh Deli department and pastries even a selection of Beautiful and yes affordable flowers.
Pay attention to the prices at the register! Went out early trying to be safe and was charged 3 times for the same one loaf of bread. That’s what I get for not paying attention. They’ve never been “nice” but they have a lot of products so this is unfortunate . But quite a rip off. I’ve heard about this , and now I have experienced it!
Their groceries aren’t bad. The cashier who was working the express line however was rude. She was wearing a black hood. She threw the groceries around and rolled her eyes when my parents (who don’t speak english) wanted to put something back. You can tell she doesn’t care about her job or she just doesn’t respect people.
This supermarkets former fine fare supermarket now metro acres supermarket is very expensive even before new management prices went up even more since pandemic its ridiculous this is my last option when i can't find what i need at other reasonable supermarkets and there meat always smell spoiled especially the chicken
The market has been renovated and it feels very welcoming. The vegetables are fresh there and the selections for everything is pretty good. They have a small bakery, too. Although their pre-made food in the back don’t look so fresh, everything else is good. I like to wait for their sales to buy certain items.
The meat for Chicken, beef, and turkey is spoil l came home and l open the pack and all l smelled was eggs. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BUY MEAT FROM FINE FARE/METRO ACRES MARKET it’s the same store just they changed the name. PLEASE DON’T BUY THERE MY MOM IS SICK AND GETTING EVEN BAD. STAY SAFE EVERYONE!
Horrible supermarket not affordable at all for low income community there price are very expensive and ridiculous high for the bad economy we in now, meat expensive, frozen food expensive and everything else is expensive one horrible supermarket to the worsted supermarket.NOT AFFORDABLE AT ALL!
I shouldn't have to constantly let the workers know the price is wrong or missing. I do not work here. Poor management just like fine fare. Don't get me started on how they treat those returning cans. They are just try to make ends meet and clean up the city. No need to not be fair to them.
The worker who stacks up merchandises was very rude. When I asked where I can find water, he said "No english.", laughed at me and did a high five with a coworker next to him. ( I know some people only speaks spanish. This is not one of those incident.) He was just being a smartxxx.
One of the best "actual grocery stores" to shop in left in the Lower East Side. The prices are still reasonable and shelves are stocked well. The staff is friendly and there is local delivery service available for an additional cost....but well worth it. This store gets my ☆☆☆☆☆'s
Management & cashiers are rude. The cashiers spend their time talking in spanish ignoring cuatomers. Prices ring up a different price at counter and when management (carlos) is alerted to issue he is reluctant to change price. This place ia especially rude to black customers!!
Horrendously expensive. ½ gallon of milk (my barometer for a grocery) is 8-10 DOLLARS vs <$6 at nearby groceries. Even the groceries in Essex Market charge less than this place Besides the prices, staff are extremely slow. Produce quality is lacking. Disgrace to the community
Convenient place to shop but I usually go to Western Beef where the cashiers are a lot more friendlier. I greeted one cashier today with a short bob and she appeared to be in a bad mood. Thank God today I was feeling good because I didn't have the time for nasty cashiers.
Poor customer service no diversity stuck up workers in also went there at seven in the morning and they had roasted chicken from the day before its hard to find a correct price or a price at all near the products just a mess to shop in there good selection of items though
Location is very convenient. I dont buy meat from this store. There has been a few times where I opened the pack of meat and it's smelly. As of recently I stopped buying fruit from this store because every time I take a chance, I end up with rotten fruit when I get home.
They allowed people into the supermarket without masks. I made people social distance that came close to me without one. Security should be at the door and say no masks no service. I like the variety of produce and it's a clean supermarket, but make customers wear masks.
My favorite store to shop at-- it is clean, affordable and organized! I can always find what I am looking for (love the pre-cut fresh fruit and veggies). The new fish/ butcher and deli are also great! The staff are always super friendly and helpful. 10/10 recommend
It is THE worst grocery store I think I have shopped in. Often smells of bad meat. The staff is indifferent to obnoxious. Not great selection. Not great produce. Worth the effort to go the few block of drive to Path Mark. At least you won't take home rotten food.
This Fine Fare Supermarket at 175 Clinton St is A lot Better than the one on Grand St it's more Organized Great Selection on Items Some Cashiers That Work here are Nice And Friendly Miguelina is The best Cashier that works There i just love her Dominican Accent.
This Metro Acres Market previously known as Fine Fare is the worst. They not only sell bad meat, but molded items, and sometimes expired foods. What I don't under stand is how they sell you the bad food and tell you all sales are final because of the pandemic.
I like this place is nice and peaceful, so far the people there are nice, you can find just about everything, except sugar-free items not too many which is bad news for diabetics, I think there should be a whole aisle just for diabetics especially ice cream.
Let me start of by saying I have never experienced such quality customer service, particularly by one employee who told me his name was Kevin. The service he provided was nothing short of impeccable and I have nothing but praise for the way he assisted me.
It's a garbage dump. Meats are literally gray and expired. The most rudest of employees. Cashiers always on their phones and not paying attention to the customers at all. Thank God for trader Joe's. I can't wait until this place is shut down for good.
Now this is a fine establishment. After a strange experience at the trader joes across the street, this market was welcoming and had everything I needed. The staff were very kind and professional as well. Much better than those at trader joes.
First off,the guy that checks your bags,is showing his nasty underwater ,with his pants down to his waste,2nd the cashiers are the same stoic nasty cashiers that are a throwback from fine fare ,and 3rd the prices are crazy and price gorged !
I have purchased pork from this super market several times and it was bad. It , smelled like it had been sitting for long time. I finally brought it back and asked for a refund because I was sick of it. I scanned the meat area to see if it
Resonable prices but have to be careful to check manufacturer sell by dates they are notorious for selling expired food. I have even caught instances where the sell by dates on their meat label was later than the manufacturer's sell by date
It's amazing what a change of hands can make to a place. Metro Acres is now one of my favorite places to shop. I love the new meat department and hot food area and pastry case. They've all helped to add a touch of class never there before.
I loved it. I just moved here from by Times Square and usually shop at Food Emporium or Whole Foods. I looked up local grocery stores and found this one. It was immaculate. The security was a little screechy giving me the oh you black so
While they may not have everything you're looking for, when you're in a rush and forget your paper towels (hypothetically) a really nice guy will run down the block and hand them to you. Thank you for saving me from my distracted self!
Great supermarket. I started coming here because of how fresh everything is and the better quality they have. I noticed since I started shopping here food last longer and tastes better. Everything is clean friendly staff and cashiers.
This store consistently overcharges relative to the posted prices on the shelves. Beyond this being fraudulent practice, checkout process becomes extremely long as most customers need to dispute at least one item on their bill.
Metro Acres Market has one important aspect-Location, location, location. On certain levels they've managed to provide prescient alternatives to their off label brand- parade- as well as staying open till 10 all week.
It's ok for everything except meat.. the meat always has the same weird taste.. the taste doesn't even go away after rinsing & cooking the meat.. pork, chicken, and beef all have the same distinctive weird taste..
Small selection, poorly arranged, dairy isn't fresh, staff uniformly rude, but it's convenient if you're looking for something Trader Joe's doesn't have or don't want to wait in those very long lines
I've been shopping at this Fine Fare for few years, it's in a good area can always find reasonable prices. It's nice & bright, clean. Sometimes hard to find parking. Most of the workers are helpful.
Decent sized grocery store that offers reasonable prices. Bringing your own bags is recommended. Lines are longer and slower, so it’s best to stop by off-peak hours unless you don’t mind the wait.
I visited this location in the morning after work or during the weekend and every time I do it's clean and well stocked. The prices as expected from most markets Plenty of organic products too.
Very clean and organized. I used to come and shop here all the time. I stopped for a while and glad I came back. They have a lot of items I normally am not able to find at other supermarkets.
Very large. Lots of food choices. Deli in the back corner. Ready made food & cold cuts. Great place for groceries. Fast checkout. Friendly service . Lots of choices. Reasonable priced items.
The store is excellent, with all the right prices, produce and product for every taste. The staff is lousy, insensitive, rude, with the worst people skills, in behavior and communication.
This place is okay - can usually find everything I need although the prices are higher here than say the Fine Fare in East Harlem. I do like how they have a section for organic products.
Prices are usually a tad higher than some other local supermarkets but their selection of brands and products seem to be better. Always a weekly circular with items on sale which is nice
My Rite Aid is the best. Always a helpful staff. If you keep up with thier sales. Plus use plenti card. You can accumulate some real cash . Thanks for taking care of our Neighborhood.
This place sucks big time. Garbage quality and over priced. The items that go on sale have expired dates on them. And not to mention the employees are rude and don't speak English..
Was literally just in store and bought chocolate milk and I just got home to find it EXPIRED Like 6 days expired! Also cashier didn’t give me receipt so I can’t even return it
What's there to like? Prices are not low. Half the stuff expired. The selections are a bleh. Only come here as a last resort. Can't wait until trade Joe shows up next door.
All fine fare in my area over price for their items. It is beyond ridiculous. Fine fare on jackson st always check for expiration dates bc they sell alot of expired items.
A good selection of groceries at somewhat not very competitive prices. Staff usually very helpful. Very nice beer selection. Very nice selection of fruits and vegetables.
Prices are insane! Who could shop here when many who live in the area are elderly and on public assistance? The only saving grace is that the dried beans are priced well.
Good selection, hot food, deli, meats vegetables. Store is clean and organized. Only issue I have is check out is very slow, cashiers dont seem to move with any speed.
This store does honor their sales paper. Apirl 3th to Apirl 9th 2022. Prices are Effective. If you have an end time they need to put it on their sales paper.
They have a selected choices in different foods. Prices are reasonable. They have great sales. You can use manufactured coupons. #vegetarianfriendly #healthy
Pretty good place Good competitor to the trader Joe's across the street It recently was bought and renovated and it looks really nice definitely recommend it
Very clean and organized, and very good customer service. My ONLY issue are the narrow aisles. Other than that, it's a solid spot to get what you need. ☺
This store went through a face-lift. Prices are off the wall, some lift? Around community is basically elders, fixed income and kids. Mixed community.
All veggies & fruits stocked are fresh. And large selections of natural juices, Section 4 client's who keep their carbos Low. Cholesterol counts.
Very good and well stocked local supermarket. They have a nice selection of fruits vegetables to choose from. Lots of choices for milk as well.
Cashiers on thier phone's not paying attention to thier work. Scanning the product 3 times to charge more. Grab your receipts look at them.
They sneakily try to add more to your total ALWAYS confront them if ur total seems off bc they do it on purpose hoping you won’t notice
Tried to tell dairy guy that tub of butter was cracked, totally ignored me as he was on his phone. Then he said he didn't speak English
They have their dumpsters empty nightly. The truck comes at 3 AM with an incredibly loud siren and wakes up the neighborhood. NOT COOL
Large fully stocked supermarket serving the Seward Park community. Fresh food and reasonable prices, at least by Manhattan standards.
I shop at Fine Fare out of necessity and convenience only. Not my go to store. It offering is limited and narrow and overprice...
The fruits are always brused also the avocados can't wait for traders joe to open across the street. Fine Fare is just horrible.
Since new management prices went up! And now mandatory bag check? Please not even a fine expensive and grade A market has this
My recent experience at Metro Acres Market was great. The cashiers were very helpful to me. I will be going back there again.
No order with the lines. Cash register people call andre for EVERYTHING! Cant handle anything themselves.
Store would be great if I didn't receive molded deserts 2 days in a row. Won't return again after that.
Expensive. The meat is not fresh. This is the second time I have purchased questionable pork. Not good.
They are very nice and the food is always in stock. The prices are a little high. The store is clean.
My 1st time going here and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I found everything I was looking for.
Super-unfriendly staff, ordinary prices, ok selection. Nothing better in this area unfortunately.
This supermarket isn't organized, poor meat quality, bad odor at the entrance, staff are too loud
This new market. Metro Acres Market is amazing. The prices are very fair. It has a wide variety.
I hate shopping here. Most 'fresh' produce is already going bad. Ok for meat and dry goods.
I like to Fine Fare Supermarket because it's very arranged. It had everything I needed.
overcharged, they are scammers and are known to OVER CHARGE YOU. check your receipt
It has been always clean ,and the staff slong with cashier's are very polite.
Great, clean, very organized beautifully displays of products, very impressed
