We went for a quick late dinner this evening, later than intended. Still we were greated at the entrance by two young women with big warm welcoming smiles and seated immediately at the table of our choice. Once seated we were quickly visited table side with menus, utensils and were asked if we were ready to order drinks. Tonight they were offering traditional Lime Margaritas as well as Mango & Strawberry. My friend chose a beer & I Sweetened Tea. No alcohol tonight, although quite tempting. Very soon after we were greeted by Alfredo who would be our server for the evening. He was warm, friendly and very happy to welcome new customers and to tell us about the menu, daily house specials, & about their happy hour, as well as answer our questions. Since we had been so delayed and it was nearing closing time we chose to give the House Special a try. Wednesday nights special is their Beef Enchilada plate (2 beef enchiladas & chili with sides of rice & beans). We were brought chips & salsa before Alfredo finished taking our orders. The salsa was really good, red, not too thick or pasty, and still had some body to it, unlike a lot of places where the salsa is far too liquid, or watered down. It had a slight bit of heat to it, but it would be a real stretch to call it hot. I would say that it's quite likely that Most people could eat it and enjoy its fresh clean flavors. With the salsa we were served equally tasty warm chips, that were nice & thin, extremely light & crispy, but not greasy. In no time at all, Alfredo was at out table with our two hot plates just as we had ordered them. Mine with whole beans with some added jalapeño peppers & a bit if sour cream. My friend ordered the refried beans, both quite good. We both enjoyed all we were served. It was also very nice that they didn't rush us out, rather they allowed us to enjoy our food at a reasonable pace as they began preparing the restaurant for the next business day. Alfredo came to check on us a couple of times but didn't hover over us. When we signaled we were ready to leave he was there to ask if we needed anything else at all but still prepared to present us with our bill. Although we had arrived late we received great service, good food, ample portions all at a very reasonable price. We wanted to try more items but our orders were enough. We left adequately filled & not overstuffed. We had the opportunity to enjoy chatting with Alfredo as well. He couldn't have been more welcoming and professional. We will be returning to Mexico Real again and soon. It's also an especially good time of the year for good Mexican food. I hope you give them a try. We found it to be well worth our money and a nice experience. FYI...The place appeared clean, saw no bugs, parking wasn't difficult when we were there, the food was quite good, tasted fresh and wasn't Overpowered with way toooo much Cumin. Fantastic food. Awesome service and local atmosphere. We have been coming to Mexico Real since it opened. It has never failed to give us quality food at great prices. I love the chicken enchiladas and the San Antonio nachos. My family members love the taco plate and tacos al carbon. The shrimp rancheros is another favorite. The service has been spot on every time we are there. We have held a anniversary party there and they took care of everything we needed. Top notch service.

Wheelchair access in the restaurant area is not a problem if you can nab the handicap parking spot. There are not a lot of cutouts on the walkway though. The restrooms are not accessible. The stalls are tight if you need help or space.

A lovely hidden gem. I have passed by this location for longer than I will admit and never even noticed it there. Ended up going here for a lunch / dinner with roughly 25 other people. The food was amazing and the service was fast and accurate. No bad vibes or attitudes. The manager on duty even helped out with our large party. I'll definitely be coming back as you get what you pay for and then some. Serving sizes are larger than you'd expect. The drinks are big yet perfectly balanced. My only gripe is that gratuity is automatically added. I get it, it's the way most restaurants are going these days. However I prefer to tip in cash so the servers do not get taxed on their tips. Oh well. I'll definitely be going back soon though.

Mexico Real has been in business for quite some time. My family ate there often when we lived in Ft. Worth, TX. We have since moved east, but go there every time we visit. The atmosphere is just fine, a nice little locally owned place. The food is wonderful. Everything I have ever ordered has been hot and delicious. The staff is freindly and service is fast. Mexico Real is a great place to eat!

Wheelchairs can get around the dining room easily. While the bathrooms are accessible, though, they are not handicapped usable. The wheelchair doesn't really fit in the stall. My wheelchair user opted to wait until we got home.

I ordered on the phone for pickup and failed to realize that I had been here before. The food is edible. That is the best thing I can say about it. Everything from the tortillas to the salsa to all of the dishes we have tried are completely tasteless. It isn't that they aren't salted, they just have no flavor. I don't understand how this place is getting such good reviews. When I ate in the restaurant, we had the same experience with slow service that some reviewers have complained of. The to-go order was ready promptly and hot when I picked it up. It just had no taste. Maybe if I starved myself for several days I could enjoy it... I've tried the enchiladas, chimichangas, guisado de res and chips and salsa. One star is for effort and making something that is basically edible and will not cause illness. Look elsewhere!

It is and always will be one of my favorite places to eat! I had a great lunch today as always. On your way out don't forget to buy some prolines! Update: We had the most unorganized server I think I've ever had. We chose this place bcs my great grandmother of 98 wanted to eat here. I forgot the servers name and I wouldn't be surprised if he forgot his name as well. We weren't even greeted until 20 minutes after we sat down and I had to remind them where we were. I'm pretty sure he was a cook in the first place. If you decide to eat here and would like refills, ask for Jose, he actually serves very nicely !

I come up to Mexican real almost weekly with my family. I have a 1 year old son and I came to get him food this afternoon after I got off work. I ordered him a kids plate rice and beans that’s about $6 and change. The manager Daisy and cook Juanqine told me that I’m not a kid and can’t get the kids plate for my son. That’s absolutely ridiculous!!! We love this restaurant and been coming for years. That’s like me going to get my son a happy meal from McDonald’s but because they don’t see him in the car they won’t sell it to me. Absolutely horrible the way the handle it and definitely lost my business. I will definitely spread this to my friends and family. It was totally uncalled for!

UPDATE: since this review I’ve been to this place a few more times. The food is still delicious but I’ve done 2 call in orders in the past month and BOTH times only part of my order was present despite the appropriate order being repeated out to me. My suggestion is don’t call your order in for pickup cause you’ll be sitting there waiting for the rest of your food to be cooked, because the front desk can’t get it right . For this reason I took it from 5 stars to 3. Convenience means a lot to me and ordering food and getting part of my order is the exact opposite. The food is really delicious, great proportion size. The chips and salsa is really good as well. I love the happy hour margarita it’s nice and strong! This is a new staple place for me!

Our waitress Maricela was very sweet and did a great job. We had fajitas which were decent, but $18 for a lunch portion serving was too high. Also ordered the Sophia plate which consisted of one beef taco, one beef enchilada and one cheese enchilada. The plate was hot, the food was tepid at best. Hubby asked for some extra lemon and we were charged $1.25 for four wedges. I asked for some sour cream which amounted to maybe two tablespoons worth ... for $1.65. Forty bucks for lunch including 18% tip... just not worth it for average food. Won't be back.

We went with a neighbor to have dinner here. We had never eaten here before, even though we have driven by, and even shopped in shops next door for years. It was a wonderful experience. The food tasted very good, everything seasoned and cooked perfectly. The salsa with the chips was some of the best I've ever had, flavorful, with just the right level of heat. I had the Joaquin combo: crispy beef taco, cheese and chicken enchiladas, refried beans and rice. Lots of beef in the taco, shredded grilled chicken and smooth cheese in the enchiladas. Even the refried beans and rice were great. The prices were very reasonable as well. Great first experience, will not be our last.

This is a local hole in the wall with fine food. I grew up in this area and have been going to this establishment for 20+ years. I will say, I think that the food used to be better. However, it's still pretty good even now. They have good people working here and a wonderful, warm atmosphere. You can get takeout, or dine in, and they have enough space inside to accommodate large parties.

I ordered the chicken chimichanga.. and it was not good and covered in can cheese.. no, not queso... needless to say I won't be back... the service was mediocre..she didn't ask if I wanted a margarita frozen or on rocks.. two napkins... just not good service.. Finally!!! A restaurant that serves with fresh food and happy servers and hosts. In keeping with public regulations of keeping the public separated ( unless protesting apparently), you can sit comfortably without large X's or taped up chairs and tables. You are simply placed apart with dignity. The menu was open and all things available. We were served with real plates but with separately wrapped flatware. Our drinks were in plastic cups. It was the closest I have been so far to the way a restaurant should treat people for their delicious food and service. Delicious food, good portions, good prices and overall pleasant and enjoyable experience.

Beyond the fact that the food here is some of the best I've had, my server was amazing. Daniel took great care to anticipate anything I might need to made my dining experience a great one. He was very friendly and professional. We chatted a bit about our families as I was visiting from Tennessee and was there taking care of my mother for a knee surgery. He also has a sick family member who he loves. If you get a chance to check this place out, ask for Daniel. You will not be disappointed! And if you have a minute, please say a prayer for his family. ❤️

This was an unexpected surprise. We were tired and hungry and just stopped at first place we saw. They actually have veggie enchiladas. Shrimp nachos. Shrimp tacos. Shrimp cocktail. They have a kids menu. Taco, tenders, corn dog or macaroni and cheese. I got a combo called Joaquin's special, pretty good. Little finished her chicken. Hubby got the veggie burgers but added grilled meat lol, those were the best. It's clean. Service was friendly. Food was fast and hot. We stopped for dinner. About $9 for my and little one. For hubby about 12. It was worth it. Defenitely going back.

Truly the best, authentic, family owned Mexican Food establishment in Ft. Worth! There's much to be said about the credibility of a place that's been serving delicious cuisine for over half a century. Service, price and menu selections combine to guarantee an unforgettable dining memory. For those who imbibe, order a few of their huge margaritas. Used to be our families' favorite quick get-together to celebrate. Not anymore. Recently, I went and met fellow ladies in our local high school community organization. The new manager said they could not serve us unless every person in our party ordered. We usually all get drinks and several appetizers and share them among us. Not a bad place. Nice ambience and prices are reasonable. Food is pretty good. I have had better. Salsa is pretty good, but again, I've had better. Technically I'd give it 3.5 stars, or just over half. It's a just over average place. Oddly, you pay at the counter, which is something you'd expect from an inexpensive diner. Service from the wait staff was good and food orders were fairly expedient, considering it was a Sunday afternoon. For the money, it's not bad but you may want to try somewhere else.

The name Mexico Real seems a bit tongue in cheek here. The hostess/cashier was wearing open toed shoes. Said shoes made a slapping sound, which was super annoying. The food can generously be described as TexMex. Chili on the enchilada and tamal was definitely from a can. Taco was actually good. Chips and salsa were the life savers! Our waitress was very sweet and our food came out very quickly.

First off...they have the best margaritas around. Secondly, the staff and food are amazing as well. But I think that is due to the character of the owner. Today on Mother’s Day, the owner walked by with his hands full. He asked if we were good and as he passed I asked for napkins. With cheer in his voice and a smile on his face he came immediately back with the napkins. This place is definitely somewhere you need to visit if you haven’t been. I guarantee it won’t be your last visit.

The worst enchiladas I’ve ever had. They had what looked like chili on top instead of red or green sauce. Whatever they were, they were not enchiladas. Service was great, my server was kind and apologetic that I did not like the enchiladas. The rice and beans were okay. I also bought a michelada that was unlike any michelada I’ve ever tasted… not good. The restaurant is old and dingy. I probably won’t be coming back to this restaurant. I really hoped that it would be a great place.

It's handsdown one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever eaten!!! I agree though With the beans and rice it having a strong lard taste ... Just substitute them is what I have started doing...but the enchiladas ohhhh my gosh they are heaven and the staff is amazing

We tried Mexico Real last night & we were so pleased! We have been driving all over looking for a GOOD Mexican restaurant with Great Margaritas & great prices, who would have thought the answer was just a mile from our home in Wedgwood! Our waitress Lacey was awesome! The Chicken Fajitas were soooooo good! The other girls working were so sweet!! We will be back for sure!! Thank you so much! I think we have found our place!!!

This place has. Really good Tex Mex. My Dad started bring all of us and lots of people from construction jobs, ministry and much more, just after they first opened around 15 or 20 years ago. It's still one of our favorite places to go. The have great food, family and humble atmosphere, great salsa and delicious pralines I can almost taste it now. Drop by or make a special trip, either way, you will not be disappointed.

We've been here a half-dozen times. Friendly, attentive wait staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent home-made salsa. The food is very reasonably priced and portions are generous. Better than that, everything we've ordered is very good. My "standby" now is "Joachin's Special". I just wish it were a little closer to north Grand Prairie! The hand-made pecan pralines at the register are the perfect ending to a great meal.

This was my first time visiting Mexico Real Restaurant. The name describes it perfectly. Real Mexican food, reasonably priced. I'm very glad I decided to try it. Food was excellent and everyone was very friendly... Family owned and operated. A small unknown restaurant. It was great! A MUST TRY! I will take pictures next time.

The young lady serving us was attentive and energetic. But the food was lack luster at best. The atmosphere was up beat, and people were engaged and having fun. The music fit with the scenery. I wish I could report the food was really awesome, but I can't. We started withe the nachos and the ingredients just weren't quality. Cheese makes the nacho's.... oily hard cheese is not it!

Nothing worse than looking forward to lunch,some awesome Mexican food. When you have a 30 minutes to eat and Nachos and Chicken takes 20 plus minutes. You have to leave without eating is the WORST WAY TO SPEND MY SATURDAYS LUNCH. A 10 Top was more important that a regular customer. My husband and I have ate here several times. Today went around 1pm was sat at the far back booth by the bar. We sat down and as I looked down there was a roach crawling on the bench I was sitting on. Needless to say we bailed out. Such a disappointment. I hope the kitchen takes care of these bugs from falling in the food.

They where notified of how many people would be coming for lunch, and they refused to sit us unless half of everybody was there.and did not seat us all together, we had 10+ different tables.

Gonna make a bold statement here... These 'Chef's Special' enchiladas are some of the best enchiladas I've ever had... and that's saying a LOT considering I've been eating tex-mex since I was knee high to a burrito! Too bad this place is an hour away... You can bet I'll find an excuse to get back over here though.

We had a friend recommend this place, so that broke the ice and we had to try it. Don’t be turned away by appearances, they have very tasty food for a good price. Honestly, their fajitas are really great and the beef used is very tender and well seasoned. I think this will be a regular spot for us going forward.

The dinner was awesome. Just like I remembered. Chips and salsa to begin the meal! Then I had two different kinds of enchiladas and a soft tacos. There was so much chicken on there that you could actually taste chicken! That impressed me tremdously!! Then I took home a praline because I was full from the meal.

Pretty standard Mexican food across the board with a few gems. Martha's platter, and the cherry flautas stand out. Most of the menu isn't anything special. Not bad, not amazing. If you make the trip out here, try some of the specials. Service was really good. Lots of space for big groups in this place.

This is a lovely neighborhood spot. Shared by workman during the day and families, dates and a sometimes a group. The food is very good, portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. We've gone here for years and its always consistently good. The same family has owned and run it for a long time.

I was looking for a sit down place with chips and yummy margaritas. Check and check! Everything we ordered from the carne guisada to the fajitas was delicious! Great service and it was even relatively busy for a random Thursday afternoon. Will definitely come back next time we are in town.

I spent 53 dollars for 3 little for nothing. We ordered a spinach quesadilla, nachos,a burrito plate and a shrimp cocktail... I don't know what changed but the quesadilla was only 3 pieces and the nachos were not nachos... what happened to my favorite place??

I've been coming here for years. Although it has no world breaking new flavor. It does a very good job of giving me one of my favorite comfort food platters. The Raul plate! It may not only be healthy, in as well as constantly satisfying, when I want a light meal for over 20 years.

They were understaffed. A few customers were a little upset. Because the lack of attention they received. I could here them from other tables grumbling about lack of sweet n low etc etc . But it was because lack of help.

I like this restaurant because their food quality is consistent. The staff is super friendly and accommodated a large party on the fly for us. The food os good and the menu prices are too.

The food was AMAZING, and the staff was soo attentive! Margarita was delicious and made with real fruit! Yummy!

I love this place for consistently delicious traditional Mexican food. I love their chili relleno, cheese, with cheese sauce. Their service is fast and friendly. It's a nice place to take friends or a date. Their shrimp enchiladas are really good too.

I ordered the chimichanga and I asked for it to be extra crispy when it came out I had to send it back and the cheese they have is the yellow cheese as opposed to the white .Didn't like it much.

The best Mexican food this side of town. No doubt! I've been frequenting Mexico Real for about 15 years. The staff is always friendly and the food always fresh & hot! Always the best iced-tea or a frozen schooner of Dos Equis does hit the spot.

Atmosphere and staff are great. The food simply doesn't hold up. Almost everything is underseasoned. The salsa has no zip or heat. I might put their green sauce on seafood, but it's doing my chips no kindnss. Enchiladas were pretty good.

Margarita was awful I 100% do not recommend. There may have been gaterade in it. The food was very middle of the road tex mex. You could get better quality food at any number of places. Disappointing since this place is so close to home.

Great (what I would consider Tex-Mex) food! Food was fresh and hot. The beer was cold. Friendly service.

If you're looking for authentic food do not come here. I ordered the guisado and it was not good at all. No flavor. The waitress was nice but we only saw her once. Chips and salsa not good either. The only thing I liked was the water.

I went based off of the reviews! The service was a1, but the food was ok. It wasn’t disgusting, but nothing made me want to return for a second visit.

Just had them deliver chimichangas DRY! NOTHING ON THEM! Why? WHO would order chimichangas dry?! At least put the sauce on the side. Didnt even try to make it right after I called. Beyond apalled I'm done. I've had enough.

Traditional tex mex place that has been in the neighborhood for decades. Salsa is good. My go to order is the Martha’s platter, and their tortilla soup is outstanding.

VERY good Mexican food. Nice decorum, with "authentic feel." Really good salsa and chips. My problem is, on their enchilada lunch platter, refried beans didn't come with the entree :-(

It doesn't look like much on the outside but never jufge a bottle of wine by its label. The service was friendly and quick. The food came out hot and it was delicious.
