They have a bowling league that goes until 9:30pm; however, they still offer limited open bowling until then. Long story short— they had multiple lanes open right next to each other but the old lady didn’t want to rent them to us. They mad multiple more lanes open on the far end of the bowling alley but she told us to wait 1.5 hours until the league ended instead. We decided to wait and spent our time in the arcade. That’s where it gets worse! Literally every game is a complete rip off and the pool tables are grimy and gross! Here are specific examples. #1The basketball shot arcade game have the basketballs pumped up so high that after you shoot the ball it bounces and bounces and bounces and bounces so much that you only get a few shots off. #2The air hockey table has some weird puck that flies off the table with almost every shot. You spend more time picking up the puck and looking for it, than you do actually playing the game. #3 The crane games are so unbelievably rigged! There’s a normal amount that you’d expect, but here on these machines the toys are stuffed in so tight that even if the crane wanted to be strong enough to actually pick one up there is no way it could. You can easily tell by seeing all of these stuffed toy heads sticking up with no bodies. Perfectly rigged, good job! #4 the ping pong table is so extremely lob-sided that it has to be a practical joke. I could go on, but needless to say this is the worst bowling place I’ve ever seen. We all left.
We went on a Sunday at noon. (Father's Day) the one employee was fast and courteous. He got us on a lane in about 5 minutes. The lanes were clean and appeared to be in good condition. I like that the balls ate color coded by weight, very helpful. It was a bit warm for my tastes, but I usually run warm. The bad part of my experience was one of the families to the side. They brought food down into the lane, which is not permitted, and ended up spilling a beer, which the family did not clean up, nor reported to the desk for them to clean it up. I hope to return again soon.
Not a good experience. My daughter fell and opened her chin badly. We had to leave for the emergency room for stitches. We were there for only 15min. Let me say that first, the step on the floor between the place where you pick up the ball and the lane is ridiculous and unsafe. Second, when we returned to the place and left with my daughter bedding badly, the receptionist didn't even ask if we needed help. I can't believe the lack of emptiness of the personal. Third, they charge me for the entire hour. First time and last time. Not coming back.
Came in with 7 of my family members a few of are shoes that Mike gave us where badly wore down to the point they where unsafe also are balls got stuck a few times half way down the lane and place was not that busy and billy wasn’t help full it’s like they didn’t want to work. 90 dollars badly spent I won’t come back. Furthermore billy yelled at my child for spilling water by accident on the floor its insane. We bought 2 hours of time spent only one hour and didn’t get any refund. And don’t use the kids ball slides picture says it all.
I would not recommend anyone to go for a party . We had a reservation for kids (age 6-8) birthday party atleast 3 week before and we’re told that we can’t accommodate w day before and asked us to move it to a different time . We agreed and then after 30 minutes they completely cancelled it . Where would go find a place at last minute over a weekend . What kind of joke is this . No professionalism no regards for the kids. The owner should first learn to have some compassionate and courtesy before taking such responsibility .
From when I came, the place was filthy, none of the games worked. Someone needs to remodel these bowling alley’s. The slushy bar is basically a big blue/red bottle of artificial flavoring and the machine only spits out ice. Too sweet and loaded with sugar. Another thing is that the vending machine doesn’t work. It takes your money and doesn’t give you a snack. Talk about a scam! Please, renovate this place, modernize it, and get a new person to fix your games! Also get prizes!!! No prizes, NO FUN.
Glad the new owners stepped in to save the bowling alley. But I'm not glad to see the prices charged. Maybe I should have a sit down with them for a better understanding for all. 55 cents is what I payed as a kid. Use to keep score at nights so I could have money the next day or go practice bowling. That all history now with automated scoring. Those were the good old days. Family values are being lost to Corporations. So I do thank the New Owners for saving a family tradition.
I love Mira Mesa Lanes!! They have a great deal on Monday nights, from 9-12 where bowling is only $1.75 per person per game - if you need shoes then those are $1.75 for the whole night. It's always packed so be sure to arrive early to wait in line. My boyfriend and I love to go as often as we can. Its always a really fun time. OH, and they partner with Dominoes and you can have a pizza delivered. You pay for it at the bowling alley for a flat rate of $13!
Long time bowling center, under new ownership lately, so they are slowly working on some things. Plenty of parking even on a busy night or weekend, 44 lanes available, the approaches were just refinished, and a good snack bar serving fries, burgers, etc. There is a bar that serves adult beverages, has pool tables and TVs. Friendly staff, plenty of league offerings for adults and kids, for all skill levels. Stop by and bring your friends!
For my first time here I did pretty decent. Lanes are very slick which challenges you to make slight adjustments. Ended up playing 6 games. You have have your own equipment you're paying 5 bucks for games. THAT was amazing. Great atmosphere, 44 lanes are well oiled for league play, nice bar, didn't get a chance to hit the snack bar but next time I sure will. Really enjoyed myself here.
Probably the best bowling lanes out there in San Diego county! Great for players who play casually and those who carry their own bowling balls. I personally bring my own bowling balls and would rather come here due to other bowling centers having their lanes too dry to be unplayable. They have a small arcade, a good selection of drinks at the bar, and overall a great environment.
I bowl here all the time and the lanes break pretty frequently but most of the time i enjoy my time here. The reason im writing a one star review is because of one staff member. I was told his name is “buddy”. He is always disrespectful and causes problems every time I come here. Im definitely going to stop coming here unless he gets fired or stripped of his manager position.
We went there to have some Father's Day fun, and well what fun! A lady there, I believe her name was Cecilia presented my granddaughter with an award. She runs the children's bowling league there. What an absolute pleasure she was and it sure made my granddaughter very excited! What a wonderful place to go and share time with the family and the prices are reasonable too
Great lanes. I've never seen such a lively bowling alley. In house bar didn't disappoint (bartender was great, Big Joe?), and the food stand was your run of the mill fried food...great when buzzed. Only downside was a large portion of the arcade games were out of order. Lady at the front desk also went out of her way to mention the military specials they have.
Google won't let me share the video, but constantly, every player change, lane 11 would mess up and not reset correctly. We had to override the system every single time. It would have been 1 star if the young lady hadn't taken over at the front desk and gave us more time. How did the league go off without a hitch, but for us, it barely worked?
Minus one star from what would be an overall four experience, as the food portions for some items are very small (not to mention the food itself is nothing special), which removes from the overall lunch experience. Also pricey and felt cheated for just two large drinks, which didn't even feel like the correct size and ended up being $10.
This alley should be open in the morning with all these leagues in the afternoon it’s hard to get a lane and summer is coming and kids are out it would be nice to have it open earlier. The one older cook with the hair needs to wear a net over his hair or a hat when he’s cooking. He also always burns my food. He’s not meant to be a cook.
Very cheap for a bowling alley, $30/hr for 1 lane. There's 44 lanes, and usually the wait if you don't reserve is 10-20 minutes (at least on weekdays). Wednesday afternoons there's a club tournament, so unless you're in it, you'll have to wait until 9pm to play (all lanes are reserved for the event). Good atmosphere, too.
Nice lanes if you curve and play for high scores. I used to play 3 quick games here during my lunch break when it was not busy. For some reason you can’t pay per game anymore, only per hour… I don’t go nearly as often now. They should add back the per-game rate, at least on weekdays.
Decent bowling alley for family and friends to hang out. We went in with no reservation and it was a busy day. Staff was okay. Rental shoes were a little worn out. Pizza and nachos were decent. Our lane had oil so we were able to curve balls. Overall, not bad so come and visit.
Nice place with excellent customer service. I had an issue with a reservation and it was taken care of promptly and professionally. Special recognition to Billy, the manager, Jansen and Bella, front desk employees. I will come back formore work events. Thank you!
The jewel behind the mall. Bowling was almost lost in the area. We were saved by fans. I joined my first league here to celebrate. I've not regret that decision. You meet new people and have a great time doing it. Bowling is an American party time, not past time.
well this place is pretty run down and feels sketch. Our group of 4 had fun, but we'll probably go elsewhere for bowling next time. They also are pretty understaffed. But availability wasn't a problem, we didn't have to wait too long for a lane at all.
We came here to Mira Mesa Lanes with our son's and friends to have some fun bowling for one of our son's 19th birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here today. We plan to come back again soon and this time mom will test out her bowling skills!
Mira Mesa Lanes are a fantastic place to enjoy a game of bowling. We went to celebrate a birthday and had a great time with the whole family. Food, drinks and bowling was all there. The staff was friendly and courteous taking care of our every need.
New owners. This place closed during COVID and was bought out. Still a great place to come with friends and enjoy a night out. Paid ~$120 for 2 hours off 6 people with show rentals! Still a great time and good night. They have an arcade area still
Old school bowling alley with a classic vibe. One of the last remaining bowling alleys in San Diego. They have a small restaurant with bar food as well as a bar/cocktail area of you need a drink. Only 4 stars cause the facility is a little dated.
I’ve never wanted to leave a bowling alley faster. Came at 8pm and the lanes here had NO oil on them whatsoever. If you throw any amount of curve the ball is in the gutter 3/4 of the way down the lane. If you enjoy bowling avoid it at all cost.
Lovvvvve this bowling ally! We had a big event here and it held over 100 of us. Such a fun place! I recommend anyone looking to do a big event that has a bunch of families involved to go here. The staff was very efficient, fast and friendly!
The young guy working there was really the worst. He bumped my shoulder twice and passed by without saying anything, and gave me a dirty look. I told the woman in the counter, but she also didn't take it seriously. Never go there again.
BlueMoon is a 3% alcohol drink which was decent. Great bowling alley for 5 people on Friday ($45), which was also on St. Patrick day. Stayed for 1 hour. Needed $5 bowling shoes per person. Pretty busy at 9pm. Arcade games were ok.
Grew up in Mira Mesa coming here since I was a child bowling, arcade, great food & drinks at bar play pool, watch football games, also can have parties here. Good friendly family oriented family's. Still the same
Super cool place and prices are reasonable. We went there in afternoon on a week day and at that time it was almost empty. We had super fun . The only thing that I don't like is that renting shoes is compulsory
Had fun with kids as usual. They're getting better. $30/ hr Mon to Thurs, $5 for shoes. Staff is chill. They have food and drinks. Gets popping after 9pm. Thanks. Had a great time.
I had a great time at Mira Mesa Lanes, this was 100% due to Deryk your 17 year old worker, he had the absolute best attitude and provided an amazing experience for my group.
The receptionist, (Buddy) shouldn’t be working there. Every time I’ve went he’s always given me passive aggressive attitude. The whole staff is super nice except this one.
Great place to go for a night out with friends, birthdays, or even a date. Beer, food, bowling. Decent prices all around. Reserve a lane on weekends, it'll fill up quick!
Bowling lanes are a dying breed. It's not too modern looking, but it gets the job done. Pro shop in house and a bar. Two sets of bathrooms. 44 lanes of pure fun!
Place is not great for the price you pay. Not clean, too loud music. For kids small size balls were not available. Also they need technology upgrade.
Why does a place full of people close at 11pm on a Monday?! In fact, it could even close later on weekends. Other than that, it's a great place
We had fun. The place needs some TLC. Better selection of balls would be nice. Shoe's are in really Bad condition.
It fun and live place to be there. Staff is friendly , convenient location, good selection of beverages, and food.
We had a great time, a good amount of lanes plus arcade in the back with snacks and drinks! Highly recommend!
Staff is so friendly and helpful. Clean facility with great food. Arcade when kids get bored
First time with family and had lots of fun and do recommend to be a good family experience
$20/hr for students, but unfortunately they are closing at 11pm (used to be midnight)
It is a good place to spend some time with friends or coworkers
