I like this place. It's not really worth the full price for a lot of what they offer but, if you go on special nights when they are offering things at discount it is the best time to go. I've been here a handful of times and always had really great service. I sit at the bar and the bar staff is more than wonderful about making sure you are happy with everything which is a relief from most of SD waitstaff quality. I have tried quite a few things on the menu, the nachos, the wings, the flatbreads, the ribs and I've heard their Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese is amazing! I really enjoy their Korean BBQ Flatbread it has some really unique toppings and just tastes good. Their Margarita pizza was just OK. The wings are really good, the ribs were great when I had them. They have reasonably priced beer and the atmosphere is fun and sporty! It isn't as hard to find parking down in the East Village and going on a week night was an easy in and out situation. We had a great time and I always look forward to coming to EV Tavern and Bowl. Sounds like their Thursday Special 4$ beers 3$ games was a great night! Check this place out when looking for a fun night downtown!

Wow, I've heard so much about this place before, so how have I not been here yet?? Finally went to try it out, and it was pretty damn cool. They have decent beer selections (kind of wish there was more for being downtown and being in SD with all of these great local craft breweries). Bowling lanes are nice, and we were in the second alley room, which was pretty nice since we ended up almost having it all to ourselves. Drinking and bowling is a great concept, and we got some of the pizza too, but it wasn't great pizza... Smelled kinda weird (like an excess of stinky parmesan cheese). I def want to return here, just for the beers and bowling aspect. They also give you a $1 Wild Turkey 101 shot if you bowl three strikes in a row (I got 2!...). Def worth checking out if you're into drinking and easy going sports.

Went there tonight after the Padres/Brewers game, understandably they were busy. We sat at the bar, bartender said hello and that was it from him. Another employee gave us water and menus but that's all she could do for us. We were excited to try some pizza and have a few drinks but being ignored and watching numerous other customers get served before us when they came in after us was very frustrating. We finally decided to leave and once we stood up then someone else asked if we needed something. I get being busy but ignoring people in a business like that is unacceptable.

If your intent is to bowl over sitting at the bar then don’t go here. Our balls were absolutely disgusting after bowling for two hours. They don’t clean the lanes so if you have a curved ball i guarantee it will not spin right. They charge an extra $10 per hour if you reserve a lane ahead of time instead of coming to their empty alley and don’t disclose this on the website. Service for drinks was absolutely awful and we didn’t bother purchasing food because I wouldn’t dare touch food with how dirty the lanes are (our hands were black after bowling). Definitely won’t be back

I went to Tavern+Bowl tonight for the first time! The food was BOMB !! Bacon cheeseburger with fried chips and nachos!! WOW !! My bowling lane had some issues but they were really helpful and moved me to a different lane and gave me some additional time!! Lastly, my server was amazing!! She was friendly, and extremely helpful!! She even had the best attitude ever!! She kept encouraging me to bowl well!! My new favorite place!! Oh yeah, when you're there, say hi to Xavier!! He's the friendliest and coolest dog I've ever seen!!

My wife and her team had to play in an AREAA tournament. The place was very clean, the bar was fully stacked, and the staffs/bartender were great in taking care of everyone. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the bowling lanes were all fully operational. The bathrooms were also clean, icing on the cake. There was a separate bar in the front, seemed like a very good place to hang out. We had a blast and look forward to going back with our friends and family. Keep up the good work and making the tavern into a great social atmosphere.

We had a birthday party of 12 this weekend and was so much fun! The manager and staff were very friendly. One staff member who stood out the most to our group was Alex! Alex wasn’t our waiter but he went above and beyond many times that night to make the night perfect! He had a smile on his face the whole time. He continued to check on our party and ask if we needed anything multiple times. This is the kind of service people love! Thank you so much to the staff and Alex for making our party feel welcomed and taken care of.

This place is great, especially for friendly gatherings. The bar side has ample seating, corn hole, and sports on TV. The drinks are well made, and they don't seem to be price gouging here. Not gonna lie - the female staff here are cute, and they are sociable (provided you maintain boundaries). Don't forget the bowling alley. Two levels of modern equipment, full kitchen and bar service, and the waitresses will gladly bowl in place of one of your party members if they need a bio break or are on a phone call.

  • B Garrity

The only Bowling Place in Gaslamp. Definitely not made for serious bowler. Nice place to hang out. Bar tender is a little sloppy with drinks. I would recommend only shots or tap beers. Bartender is not attentive at all. Drinks are empty and had to wait wait to place order for drinks and food. Maybe they need a bell at the bar. Staffs are too busy chatting and focus on their friends. Lanes are also way you to short. If you have not been here's. You didn't miss anything. Go somewhere else.

  • Mike Hosley

Really different- downtown bowling- can be crowded but a great place to party and hang out when it's not packed and you can get a lane. Of course, they serve great food and beer, way more upscale than your average bowling ally fare. We recently did a birthday party there and had a great time, with good service with a large group. The fries are awesome. They have the hipster type waitstaff, not your average bowling staff so it's really different- parking? Nah... Uber in or get lucky.

  • Greg Gunn

Been here several times, nothing too good or bad. Gets super busy and loud during gamedays. Food leaves much to be desired, especially for the price but it is downtown so temper your expectations, there is also a brewery in house (house beer is good for the price but everything else is marked up). Seating below at the bar is better than the upstairs area which has fuzzy TVs poor sound and bad lighting so get here early. Overall not the worst place to go, but it could be better.

  • Becky Elizabeth McDevitt-Sheppard

An awesomely wonderful dinner was enjoyed here with my family. The bartender was attentive to our dinning needs and even served my newly-turned 21 yr old child a complimentary "adult" beverage. A green fuzzy tea something or other. It was a wonderful experience and I will be going back when I am next in the area. PS. The food was good, atmosphere spacious and inviting and the food runner was nice too. #fun even if we didn't try out the bowling lanes!

  • Herninn Kaisa

Came here for my girlfriends birthday. It was worth it. The place has different sections. You can sit in the bar and dining area. Or they have two separate rooms that are connected to bowl with a good amount of lanes each. It's a more private bowling experience then actually going to the bowling alley which we loved. Prices are good, they charge by the hour. Service is great, and the food is good too. They also have happy hour options too.

  • Melina Wetzel

Cool spot! Took my sister here for a birthday bowl, but used to come all the time when I watched football. Staff is always awesome. Only reason for the non 5 star is the bowling lanes seemed really over oiled when I was last there. All over the place, I had marks on my clothes after I touched the ball and the shoes seemed to stick to the floor even though they were clean.

  • Tommie P

Bowling place I will give 5 stars. Loud music, fun place, there's a bar. You can watch the games. Food, is basic. Drinks were ok, kinda watered down by the time we got to it.. We ordered tacos and a burger. Basic food, after you down a few drinks you need some food before bowling! Fun place! There is a small parking place. Parking can he annoying if its packed.

  • Kayla Wein

Great experience with my family. The food was delicious; lots of great appetizers to choose from. They even had gluten free pizza. The bowling was a lot of fun and its convenient to be able to order food and drinks to your bowling lane. Definitely better than your average bowling alley. We also had great service, which is hard to come by in CA.

  • Michael Paul

We held my company Holiday Party here December 2017. The planning process was seamless, the staff upon arrival were warm and welcoming, we had the best space in the venue (the lanes in the back, we were the only ones back there until the end of our party), the food was great and the bowling was super fun! Highly recommend for big group outings!

  • Jeff Schieman

I live right by this bowling place. We made reservations for a lane at 7PM, had them confirmed, and showed up at 6:50. When we showed up the attendant told us that he overbooked tonight and he could not get us on until 9PM. They did not attempt to call us before coming over. Truly terrible customer service at this bowling alley.

  • Rachael Low

Fun atmosphere. Decent beer. Real bowling pins, none of those pins on strings things. The bowling itself is expensive. The guy running the lanes was very out of it, and it took a long time to get shoes and a lane. Service at the table was great! The lanes are very close to each other, so there is not much room for a big group.

  • Kevin

Possibly the worst bowling alley i've bowled at . The approach was dirty and small. The lane was super short and had absolutely no oil to the point spare bowling balls were hooking. Pin setting machine consistently leave bad racks and even knock over pins. House balls were also dirty and left hands black.

The servers didn't really seem to care about serving. It took a long time to order (let alone get) our first beers. Then a new server took over and waited quite a while to ask if we perhaps wanted a second round. It's still a kinda fun place to be, but it seems like they've lost their enthusiasm for being better than just OK.

  • Ryan Albano

This place was a lot of fun and the staff was exceptional. The bowling area feels pretty cramped, and some of the bowling balls were beat to snot... also the cost was pretty high for bowling. With that said, it has a really fun atmosphere, we had fun getting to know the people around us, and the food was surprisingly good!

  • Jennifer Peyrefitte

The service was terrible. We went there for March Madness. No wonder why the place empty, we waited 30 minutes for our drinks and 45 minutes for the waitress to get our bowling game started. When I asked to to speak to a manager there was no manager on duty. Needless to say I won't be going back anytime soon!

  • Shatasha Graham

I had a great time while visiting. Absolutely try the champion wings the sauce is delicious. Even my 6 year old son had a blast bowling. The service was great, drinks were good and I'll definitely have to come back again when I visit the area again

Absolutely unprepared for a crowd in the morning, we waited an hour for drinks and even longer for food. One server for a full bar, so I think they asked someone they knew in the crowd to help because she was running food but had no idea where anything went at all. Absolute joke, will never be back.

  • Donovan Keme (digitalextremist)

Great drink selection. Extremely convenient in Lane service and great atmosphere. Reasonably priced considering the location and the quality of the place. The lanes seemed a bit dry but I am going to try them again soon. Ideal place to take a small group in East Village. Very fun experience

  • Alex Gomez

Price.....Very disappointing. And Customer service needs to be worked big time..... it's been 5 years since I have visited this spot. Don't know if I'll go back. Jack Daniel's is well....charge it as a well. Not premium!

My favorite karaoke host was having his first show there and we went to support him. The bartenders were great the food was amazing. Pricey for me but worth it. I'm not used to hanging out in that part of town but I'll be going back every Wednesday night for karaoke and some great food!

  • Sofía Giammarresi

B at the bowling desk is a SWEETHEART and always so welcoming and helpful, she remembered us from a few weeks back! Cameron who served us is SO NICE and was always checking on us to make sure we were good on drinks. My second time here and sure to be back soon!

I had a burger and onion rings. Also had a Red Trolley Ale. The food was OK. The burger was edible and the onion rings were OK. The service was very good. It's an open air bar so it was chilly but a sweater can solve that. Prices are good, my bill with tip was less than $25.00.

  • Eryn Sullivant

I had an amazingly fun time at tavern bowl! Such a nice place with friendly staff. The bartender Stacie was amazing and turned my day completely around even played a couple games of bowling with me when her shift was over! Will go back again and again simply because of her!

  • Sam H

Great place to be at happy hour, the patio is pet friendly with lots of TVs and heathers to watch the games. The burger we ordered was great, chicken pot pie was salty, salad and veggies appetizers were great. The beer was good and we had a great time here with friends.

  • Tyrone Baker

It was way too expensive for a bowling alley. This place only has a few lanes, so don't expect huge bowling crowds. Is mor a bar with a bowling lane than a bowling alley with a bar.

Love this place! I take my children here very regularly and we are always treated well. The staff is kind and attentive and the food is consistently good. It's really nice to be waited on while we bowl rather than walking back and forth for snacks and drinks.

  • Sam W.

Had a get together here with work friends. The servers were attentive! Good drink selection and they have a decent happy hour. I was kind of surprised that the food was so good. A plus for a bowling alley for sure! My group had a great time, I would go back!

  • Johnathan

Excellent setting. The food was amazing...a little bit high in price, but delicious. Bowling was so fun after dinner. Murphy was our host extravanaire! She took care of us well from beginning to end. Will definitely be going back AND recommending this spot!

  • Tara Jones

Literally stood at the bar for 7 minutes trying to get a beer while the guy in the glasses kept on walking pass me, he helped someone else, nodded at me. Went to go do dishes, then ignored me again at the bar….. I use to love this bar. What happened?

  • Lane Patrick

We went here for some drinks before the concert, but our server "Virgina" is probably the best bartender/server we've ever had. She's fun and also awesome to be around. I know I'll be back with my navy buddies. Let's go tavern+bowl east village!!!!

  • Megan

Absolutely horrible service. I asked twice for soap in the female restroom, and an hour later, there was still no soap. Our bowling lane was broken for about 15 min of our hour. And where were the waiters? Because none of us could get any service.

  • shawndharris

They don't oil their lanes here, so if you're actually a bowler and not just out on date night, skip this place. Pretty shameful actually as this is by far the most expensive bowling alley around. Food is also pretty meh. Service was very good.

  • Jonathan Jammo

I’ve come to this bar a few times over the years, everyone is always nice and service is amazing. Through the years I’ve met the manager Nick and this guy is amazing. I always recommend the bar to friends because both drinks and food are great.

  • Jessica Jordan

The food was okay. The presentation makes it look better than it actually tastes. We went bowling and on several occasions the balls were getting stuck. The ambiance is nice, it's a great place to catch a game and grab a drink.

  • Melaida Corpuz

Two blocks away from my friend's condo, it was a convenient walk. I loved that my son was able to join us. We sat on the patio. No complaints about food or drinks. We didn't try the bowling though so hopefully another time.

  • Rocio Centeno

The staff was so rude. Bowling sucked and they don’t communicate anything with you and expect you to know how everything works. They overcharged us for drinks we didn’t order .Just horrible place. Don’t recommend going here

  • ismael m

Place is . Went in with my wife no service, sat for 30 minutes no waitress no server not even a cup of water. Will not be going back ever. All they were worried about was if we were going tobe bowling.

The lanes are such fun. Great summer program! The kids menu items are great size, and tasty! Viewing screens for games and large sized games in Bar area.
