We had been long term customers at this restaurant. We had a meal here once a week, however over the last couple of months the quality of the food, and the customer service has progressively gone downhill until today when I walked out without ordering. The official website shows the opening time as 10:30am however today we walked in at 11:10am and most of the curries weren't out and the staff looked at us confusingly. So we walked out and came back 20 minutes later but still all the curries were not out. Normally, if a business says they open at 10:30am they are ready to go at 10:30am, not still setting up an hour later. That's ridiculous. The lady behind the counter looked at us like we were a massive inconvenience, muttering something to herself when she saw us and grunting. There was a lot of frowning when we asked for naan bread. An hour after opening and lights not turned on, curries not out and the lack of any respect from the staff made us walk out and vow never to eat at Miss India Morningside again. The last couple of months the curries seem to be watered down anyway so if they continue on this path they will be out of business. Fairly disappointing as we were regulars.

SERVICE WAS IMPECABLE, after my disappointing appetizer at Taco Bell I was craving a splendid meal and let me tell you they did NOT disappoint. Ordered over the phone and was greeted by the voice of an angle. She is the reason this review is 5 stars. She is the reason I will be returning and she is the reason I live on today to tell this story. Despite the short wait on the average garlic and herb naan, this was an experience I wish for all to enjoy. However, if you are going to eat in keep in mind that the roads are a bit confusing and make sure to stay on the right side of the road as I almost had a tragic head on collision with an angry man. Anyways, the food was pretty delish if you ask me, it fulfilled my craving and filled my stomach for a VERY VERY cheap price. Got the chicken tikka masala and was not disappointed as I had high expectations as my usual stop for the Indian cuisine is Punjabi Palace and my expectations were met. Keep in mind that you may have to call and order if you aren't keen on waiting.

I've been a long term customer at various Miss India restaurants but unfortunately I have been motivated to leave this review given my recent experience at the Morningside store. As usual I arrived at the store and was welcomed by the staff as I entered the clean and well presented shop front. I ordered an extra large butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and a couple of nan breads which came to roughly $65.00. Once I got home and my wife I started our meal we soon discovered that the meat in our butter chicken and lamb rogan josh was extremely poor quality being full of fat, gristle and even a small bone in the chicken. We barely touched either of the curries once we had picked through it looking for edible cuts. At the risk of over exaggerating I am just doing what I can to ensure people don't make the same mistake I did, I may as well just went and thrown my $50.00 in the street. Hopefully it's the last time my dogs get a $50.00 meal!

This use to be my favourite Indian takeaway for years ! Had the best naan, service , curries and sides. I grabbed some takeaway this week after not going for a while and I was so disappointed! The lady asked if I wanted the already made naan or fresh and I asked for fresh made and was happy to wait . I didn’t watch the naan be made as I was ordering other things and get home to find a dry , bland , cold naan with no flavour and it clearly was the one from in the display which I asked not to have ! Also ordered and was charged for an item I did not receive and when I called to enquire once I got home the woman told me to drive back to get it (not happening) and hung up on me. Such a disappointing experience compared to the past and I will not be going back ! Happy to charge people for items that were not received or satisfactory !

The curries were alright, the rice was fine and that’s about it. I have no idea what the go is with the dining tables being out as I asked to just have a meal to sit down I was greeted with a plastic tub being pulled out and filled. Cool, guess I’ll eat it on my couch like it’s not a curry in a plastic container that could spill all over my things because I’m a messy eater and am too ashamed to wear a bib to address the issue. The naan straight up tasted like cardboard, was rock solid and could have passed for a frozen pizza base. The lassi was pretty average. They offer Indian pizza, which I can only assume is a naan bread with a curry slapped on top. If you’re after something to put in your stomach because you forgot to get meat out of the freezer to defrost for dinner, yeah, maybe give it a crack. Otherwise I’d give it a pass.

This is my first time so I can't speak for consistency yet. I picked up butter chicken, saffron rice, vegetable korma and lamb vindaloo and plain naan. This is one of only 3 restaurants in all of Brisbane that had Melbourne style flavours. Really enjoyed it and will be going back. I will report any changes in future meals. As the other reviews mention, naan was cooked through a pizza oven and the thicker self raising flour style at a not so cheap price. I was fine with it but I can see how people who prefer the thinner tandoor oven style.

Miss India is by far my most favourite Indian take away!!! The prices are exceptionally reasonable, food practically instantly available, naan bread insanely yummy and general cleanliness always impeccable. The customer service is always, always highly friendly and genuine too!!! I have seen some negative reviews here and am writing to try and let people know the value of this great franchise! The curries are generally not too hot - which is what I LOVE so hence my fascination with the place...but for those curry heads who expect it very hot that could be a disappointment understandably :-) I genuinely cannot rave about the place enough and I've been to at least 3 stores!

The Lamb Rogan Josh was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and tender pieces of lamb that melted in my mouth. The garlic naan bread was the perfect accompaniment. But what really made my day was when the kind staff surprised me with a free Butter Chicken Samosa! It was a delightful bonus that added an extra punch of flavor to my meal. The staff members were friendly and went above and beyond to make sure I had a great dining experience.

1-Star for Nice Venue, 1-Star Nice food except a small glitch 2-stars for Hygiene. Food was cooked Good and delicious, though i only eaten Rice and Rajmah, portion is Nice and enough. Except they claim by mistake, naan was left a little un-cooked on the edges. I was reimbursed for the Naan and one was given free. Venue is well Decorated and Clean with a nice Breeze coming in. Staff is Friendly and alert and responding. So they were helpful! They need to put some glasses and water on the dine-in table. And have agreed to do the needful. In totality, food is Yummy + Venue is nice with Street view + Staff is Co-operative.

I have purchased takeaway from this particular Miss India several times, and for the price the food has been quite nice. Although, this is now the 3rd occasion the staff have closed up far earlier then specified on their opening hours. To combat this recurring dilemma, I called to check they were still open. They informed me that they would be open until 10pm. To my dismay I turned up to order takeaway, and they were closed. So here I am, at 9:42, home, and writing this review - very unimpressed. You will not be receiving my business again.

  • Tom Cat

Is really hit or miss, a month ago my family and I had a decent feed of holy cow meal deals and it was exactly the same as every other miss India I’ve been. HOWEVER just had a holy cow meal delivered and the curry was tiny as frick and more watery than the raita that came with it, also the samosa was meat and they only included a single pappadum. Idk if Morningsides store is under new management or it has useless new staff but I know I definitely will be getting food from the Coorparoo Miss India if I ever do get Miss India again.

  • Thomas Unicomb

As mentioned in other reviews, the Naan bread is pretty good. Probably cause its the only made to order menu item I noticed. The Curry's are NOT hot. Raita wasn't yum. Samosa wasn't nice. Service was fine. I was devastated by the flavor of the Tikka Masala. I have had Tikka Masala from nearby Indian restaurants but this one in particular was lacking flavors and overall I could not finish. As a keen Indian food eater I felt Miss India is giving the wrong impression to eaters new to Indian food.

  • Billie

This place has put me off miss india restaurants. I was hoping for the right food and the right amount but just got ripped off! My kid had medium not mild chickpea and potatoe curry, I'm really disappointed the restaurants they closed down were heaps better the only good thing I can say is the mango chicken was nice we were missing 1 or 2 of their breads though with our order and it just wasn't worth the money. I hope they employ staff or train the ones they have to do a better job.

  • Natalie byrne

Really disappointed in the naan bread tonight we have been long time customers on and off over the last 10+ years. The thick chewy naan dipped in sauce has always been my favourite part well not any more it was thin dry and tasted like cardboard tonight please go back to how you used to make it. I get costs are up but rolling the naan out till its paper thin and still charging more is not the way to keep customers.

To the lovely lady serving tonight who I chatted with, who complimented my dress and also made sure my partner and I had a lovely meal - thank you :) I've been here 3 times and the service is quite good, the food has been good for the most part - at times the curry is slightly hit or miss (watered down at times) but the butter chicken sauce and vegetable korma is generally always a good choice

Miss India in general is fast food Indian. It's never the best Indian on offer, but it's never that bad, and it's reliably consistent from store to store. Oh, and the garlic and cheese naan at Miss India is great. Morningside store is uncluttered nd tidy and service is quick and pleasant. There's much better Indian available at Morningside, but if you don't want to deal with the crowd and the waiting times over the road, Miss India is an option.

  • Felicita Fortis

I bought a vegetarian thali take away on 19th Apr and was charged $19.95 but eat in price is $10.90. I understand if it was a few dollars more but $9 more to take away, that's a total ripoff. I didn't ask for fancy takeaway tray and box. Please stop ripping people off. I'm not sure if you realised that people can actually buy another meal with the $9. Please relook at the takeaway prices...as you are not a 5* restaurant.

  • The Birminghams

Used to love the food here but last night was disappointing. My plain naan appeared to be a frozen pizza base which was sent through a conveyer belt oven- very dry and bland. I also had to ask for more meat as the server had only put 1 piece in and the rest sauce. Pappadums weren't crisp and the chicken Tikka looked too dry to bother with. At one stage this place had what I considered the best naan in Brisbane.

  • Debbie Jurott

This Miss India has great food. We had Chicken Tandoori Wraps and they were fresh made and delicious and very large with the naan bread literally coming straight out of the oven. The only thing that was a little concerning was that the female assistant was wearing gloves but she handled our money with them and then also swept out the restaurant with them on as well. Luckily she did not make or handle our food.

Great take away for value, yes it's not the best but it's fast takeaway with variety and comes in handy for a quick meal. Always amazing service as well.

I really enjoy every single curry at miss india, as each one has its individual and authentic taste. Each and everytime my daughter and i have eaten there we have had excellent customer service and been greeted so nicely by Kartae (Katie)... the mango lassi's are incredibly addictive and hit the spot everytime Thank you once again miss india and kartae for your beautiful, delicious cuisine.

  • Toby Carter

Would be 0 stars if I could. Had always been happy with their meals. Our last order the customer service was terrible, and when we got home, noticed we were missing Nan breads, ratias, and papadums. The Nan we received was cold and tasteless also. Was so disappointing. I called the store and the woman on the other end could only say hello in English. They have lost a long time customer!

  • Phorty Phore

Went in for dinner with some friends and had the Chicken Madras. Even though I had said I was dining in with my friends who ordered just before me, I was served my meal in a take away container. The staff seemed like they all had better things to be doing with the exception of the man making the naan bread. While the meal itself was decent, it's not somewhere im likely to visit again.

  • Briony Foxe

We have eaten here sporadically and have always had an acceptable meal...until tonight. They have changed the size of the containers so that they are less than half the original meal size but for the same price. The Naan was horrible with barely any fillings and mostly uncooked. We will be looking for a new place to eat as we wont be going back here. Extremely disappointing.

Essentially fast food curry so a bit average. I liked it as an option if I worked late or was in a rush but their new container sizes are terrible. The regular size is tiny, remove the rice and you're left with very little curry and the large is 50% more in price which is not worth it and there are better options elsewhere for that price.

  • Bec Ireland

Terrible service - asked 3 times if I could get it hot spicy and she reestedly said it was even though the sign said mild - which is was actually less than mild, basically sweet. Only about 4 pieces of chicken in the whole curry. The naan was the only good part however without enjoying the curry with it, was a waste of the whole meal.

  • andy barber

Yet again gone in for a curry and one of those amazing oven baked nann yet to have it done in a roller pizza oven, again!! They come out terrible and dry, currys here are average, the only reason myself and friends go in are for the nann breads. Sorry miss India, no more visits from me!...unless you start using your pizza oven again.

  • Chelsea Stevenson

Worst miss india i have ever had! I uber eats butter chicken, didnt get butter chicken, pretty sure it was chicken korma or something. My boyfriend got food poisoning from it and i am not feeling great either. The half meat half rice serving was so small too and it came with white rice and was undercooked! Never going there again!

  • Jadie Hannant

We ordered some butter chicken and it came in a tiny container with the rice and curry in the same container. We ordered this and Naan bread and it cost us $20 to get delivered when we got about $2 worth of curry. Also was cold and there was maybe one tiny piece of chicken in it. The standard of service has dropped in my opinion.

I ordered lunch through a meal delivery app and ordered 4x butter chicken with sides of rice and naan. Only one lot of sides appeared at the store yet I still was charged for 4 x everything. I rang the store and they sorted it immediately. The staff were wonderful. Thank you. Bonus that the food was also yummy.

My husband and I frequent Miss India Morningside about 3 times a week and the food is always great. However, what really always stands out is Kartar's impeccable service. Her service is amazing and she always has a smile on her face. I genuinely look forward to seeing her when I grab my dinner.

  • Tam

Very disappointing, I ordered three Naan with different fillings. Only to get home and realise there was hardly any filling in the Naan. Not only that, they've now introduced new containers and they are far smaller than the old sizes but yet, we pay the same price. I won't be returning!!

  • georgia thistlethwaite

One of the best indian places around but the naan breads aren't what they used to be :/ However, it sits in the hot box all day that's not fresh in my opinion and the staff have completely no hospitality or service skills probably no people skills either - they need to pick up the slack

Worst naan bread. Hard as a rock, cooked in a mechanical conveyor pizza oven. I used to go to miss India Morningside just because of their amazing naan breads that used to be cooked in the tandoor oven. Now they they've stopped using it, I won't be bothering to go back.

  • Ashley Price

Food is delicious but they have changed their serving sizes. They use to use the typical plastic takeaway containers but now use bowls similar to cold rock which are half the size. We won't be going back to the Morningside store. They still charge the same price

  • Nicolle Sarafian

Perfect place to drop in and pick up a takeaway. The spice seems to be toned down for the Australian palette though so if you like your dishes medium hot I'd recommend the "hot" dishes. Great selection of veggie options too and the nan bread is just YUM!

  • Chris Weigt

Great food and service. Awesome if you're in a rush as they've always got heaps of choices ready to go, but SO worth waiting for a naan bread as they make them up fresh. Pizza seems pretty good too, but I don't go to an Indian place for pizza :)

  • Peter Earl

You have to have the Holy Cow ! Of course, there is no beef, it's holy. The Holy Cow is a meal choice, your choice of curry, rice, Samoa and popadom. In my opinion, it's good value for money. Plus you get a good selection of curry's.

  • Reed

Great food, the system they use to make the naan bread is terrible, they should just write it on the bag and hand it to the guy, I've had multiple orders mixed up because they just call out the naan and the naan guy just forgets.
