Sounds like they have a great system setup for regular maintenance. Prompt, polite, and friendly communication. They picked me up in town to get my car. They offer car rentals at reasonable rate. Perfect if you know nothing about cars and need a place to take charge. However, they're very by the book and I had a hard time getting them to discuss nuances with an owner who knows their car. This was my first and only experience with them, but they really failed us. We brought our car in because it had been suddenly running rough for 2 days-- there was definitely a problem, but had stopped after sitting all weekend. They didn't complete the oil change that we put in the original request but could two days later. Charged us $250 to run the ODBII scan and tell us to get our oil changed. They (very reasonably) jumped to conclusions about what the problem was; At our last oil change, the mechanic at a different shop wrote the km of when the oil was changed and not when it should be changed next and our oil was low. The front office told us our oil was bone dry and lectured about getting our oil changed every 5,000km. The front office emphasized that he only put enough oil in to get it to the oil change. After discussing with my husband yesterday evening and taking it somewhere else to get the oil changed, I reached out the next day to speak with the mechanic. I explained that our car does not normally burn oil -- we've gone 20,000km on full synthetic and the oil still looked good. It had been 9,000km since our last Full Synthetic oil change. This is very unusual for this car and we're either suddenly burning a lot of oil or there's a leak somewhere. Last night's oil change (at a different company) found indications of an oil leak--even though we have no oil on our driveway. When I asked this shop's mechanic how he figured we were running low on oil, they just mirrored what I asked. So I can only speculate that this mechanic saw the oil was low on the stick and stopped investigating there. I can't know because of how the conversation went. Both the mechanic and the front office had difficulty moving on from our disagreement about how often oil should be changed with Full Synthetic (5k vs 10k), in order to discuss the underlying concern that our car is suddenly burning oil or leaking, a common symptom of a larger problem. "Just keep an eye on it." I don't feel like they genuinely listened to my concerns. UPDATE: And guess what our check engine light is back on. Y'all messed up.

My vehicle had an unfortunate accident with the side of my garage door, so it need a paint job on the front passenger side of the car. As I heard great things about Brian Ayotte and the crew at the Car-o-proctor and since they have been regular supporters of St. Philip Church here in the village for many years, I wanted to reciprocate the support. I emailed Brian and he was able to see me that day to have a look at the car. While inspecting the car, Brian explained to me how vehicles are painted these days (it’s a multi-step process!), and what it would take to have my car looking brand new again. He discussed a few options and would provide me with two detailed quotes in a few days. Well, he did, and they certainly were detailed! The prices were very reasonable (based on my past experience with body shops). He was able to get the vehicle in within a few weeks of our first meeting, and the job was done over the course of a few days. The side of the vehicle looks brand new again, and can’t tell at all it had been repainted! I would highly recommend The Car-o-practor!

2 stars because I know the mechanics are very good. Front desk flat out sucks. I made an appointment to get my truck in and diagnosed. I explained over the phone that it was under warranty was told no worries we charge 250$ an hour for diagnosing, not an issue. I mixed up appointments and missed my slot accidentally and called to sort it out. In doing so I was then told all that they can do is scan my truck. I have a scanner I can also do that but when I called last week they agreed to diagnose. After trying to talk with the girl at the front desk I explained last week she said they could diagnose. According to her she never said that as they don’t do 3rd party warranty, was not mentioned last week. So I then was trying to tell her I will bypass my warranty I just want my truck fixed. After such a long run around wasting each others time on the phone it was clear she didn’t want my company’s fleet trucks. Unfortunate as this was the only shop I trusted for 5 years with my old truck.

I was referred to you by Young St Garage You said you could install kits on my brake calipers. After over a month I called to see how the work was going and was told that you were waiting for me to supply the kits. I ordered the parts from the USA and received kits with missing 0-rings. They refused to replace the kits and I had to order the parts from another company. I brought the second kits to you and 10 days later was called and told that you could not do the work and was asked the pay 136 $ for your effort which I paid with my credit card. NET CONCLUSION: 2 months of wasted time 4 trips Ottawa - Richmond 150 $ for 2 sets of brake caliper kits 136 $ for your futile effort at repair. You be the judge of my experience Louis-Francois Courtemanche

Had my truck in for rust proofing at this location, the service was done well as expected, but shortly after getting my truck back I noticed an issue with it that had occurred during the service. The issue amounted to an honest mistake on their part, but an issue nonetheless. I returned to the shop the following business day and highlighted the issue with one of the business owners. They accepted responsibility immediately, and offered fair solutions to either remedy or compensate for the issue. We came to an agreement and the resolution was carried out in a timely manner. Very impressive service, and will not hesitate to bring my vehicles back to them.

Everything about The Car-O-Practor is fantastic. The owners are genuine, down to earth, hard working people who really care about doing an excellent job, while keeping costs to the customer low. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. The diagnostics and repairs are done expertly and on-time. While vehicle servicing and repairs is always a significant cost in my budget, I always am pleasantly surprised with their reasonable, fair, rates. In the end, what more do you want from a vehicle service centre/repair garage than trustworthy people and fair prices for quality work? The Car-O-Practor is all three. Thanks guys!

Further to a previous review, I wanted to extend a deeper appreciation for this team. Due to a recent incident with our KIA, I asked if they could squeeze me in later that afternoon. I got a call later and they got me in half an hour later. They reviewed the situation and fixed the issue without any hesitation. Not that I was expecting it, they also did not charge me, as no equipment or parts were required. Not that I would expect this all the time, they did not hesitate in waiving any fee. The team there truly takes care of me. I am a client for life.

These guys are amazing. I called and was brought in immediately. They took the time to listen to the issue i was having. Asked questions and explained things to me as we were talking. They went above and beyond. I went in for a coolant issue and they ended up topping up my oil, put air in my tires and took pictures of the issue and gave them to me. They were on time, very nice, called me to let me know what was happening before they did anything. I highly recommend them. Talk to Carl, great guy.

Called the Car-o-practor to see when they could take me. I explained over the phone to Sharon what the problem was. She suggested that I get a torque wrench and tighten up the wheel nuts, before coming in. Guess what! This solved the problem. She didn't have to educate me, but did, and saved me big headaches and likely dollars. I have found the mechanics I will definitely go to next time I have an issue! Nice to know people you can trust. Definitely getting my business! Thanks Sharon!

  • JIN KANG

I was charged with more than $250 to check the engine issue (no starting), but there were only useless items not relevant to the main problem in an engine, e.g. transmission oil leak, exhaust leaking. The same problem keep happening just 2 days after they said it has been fixed, then there is no more responses from them. I have to find another mechanic shop with the same phenomena in engine starting. Bad experience and be disappointed with their diagnosis report and repair skills.

Thank you to Dan and his crew for getting me back on the road again this summer. I have taken my 1938 Chevy Master Deluxe out for many cruises and many cruise nights since getting her back from the Shop. She is holding up amazingly due to the TLC from Dan and his crew over at the Car-O-Practor. Thank you again to everyone who had a hand in Git-R-done!!! Very fair value for money, quality craftsmanship, and trusted work given my most recent experience with this Shop.

This place was one of several that gave me an estimate. Firstly I want to say, my business took me into their shop a number of times, and I never found them any less than a joy to deal with. But more importantly their price was well better than any of the other estimates I got. Overall they did a great job, the parts came in quick, they had it done in a day, and did a fantastic job. Will happily bring any future problems to them

  • DAr Diff

Very friendly, fast service and great price! I had my frame repaired on my sister's 72' Oldsmobile when other garages said the frame was a right off! These guys know there stuff and Dan was amazing to work with and swap old car stories with. I look forward to using them again for any and all my car/classic car needs in the future. D'Arcy

They were an amazing help with getting my car looked at after I had been in an accident. Even after having a few problems with my insurance they help threw everything. They kept me up to date on the damage of my car sending me videos and pictures as they worked. If I had a question they were quick and very friendly to answer.

  • Megan Bols

Great service provided. The work that needed done on my vehicle was thoroughly explained. They provided daily photo updates on the progression with body work. Vehicle was returned looking awesome - cleaned interior. Great service! Would not hesitate to use again. Thank you for a great job and customer experience!

  • Jay R

Everytime I bring my vehicle he for service it is a good experience. They provide you details of the inspection along with photos. They go over what should be done to the vehicle, but they only lay out facts. There has never been pressure to do a repair. I appreciate that more than anything.

  • Bram Blenk

They did an excellent job of repairing the bodywork on our 2009 Toyota and matched the paint perfectly. Price was very reasonable and service was friendly and efficient, however it took them almost 2 months to schedule me in to have the work done, so don't go there if you are in a rush.

  • Guy Lafontaine

Great communication when issuing vehicle reports. They take pictures of everything they think needs attention and they won’t try to sell you something that you don’t need. They did a great job with my Mitsubishi and I plan on calling them whenever my baby (car) needs a spa day!

  • Scott Mueller

I have received excellent service at good prices at every visit so far. The staff is professional and provide you with a " report card " for your vehicle. Everything is explained clearly and there are no surprises. I will definitely continue to patronize this local business.

  • Miranda Donohue

These guys are amazing! Gave me great advice and did a great job on my Audi’s body work and replacing custom springs (which were an adventure for Bryan to find!) Super happy with the work, the professionalism, the communication, the honest advice. Will def return!

  • christopher connolly

Always very pleasant people to deal with . Fixed everything that i had asked and notified me that my front brakes also needed to be replaced . My car drives like new again. Completely satisfied with the work done , and will definitely be going back there again.

  • Tom Louks

Made an appointment for 8:00 and arrived at 7:45. They drove me back home and told me the car would be ready by noon. At 11:30 they called to say the car was ready. Friendly competent service!
There was absolutely nothing that I could complain about.

  • Ron Page

Out of the way for me (30min drive) but well worth it. Professional and great service. I trust that I'm getting the good value for my repair dollar and I trust that the work will be done properly.
