If I could give this 0 stars I would! I never normally post reviews, but this restaurant was so horrendous that I have to warn everyone. Last time we went staff were wonderful, we were very excited to eat in again, however that quickly changed. Food was absolutely disgusting and smelt off, and when we went up to pay, the lady was so rude! Our total was very expensive when we hadn't ordered much. We questioned it, and asked for a receipt, but the lady got increasingly agitated. We ended up paying for it, but after leaving felt something was wrong so we added up the food and drinks ourselves. Turns out we had been ripped off by OVER $70. We went back, asking what happened and if we could get our money back, and the lady YELLED at us, refusing to give a refund even when we had evidence that there was a miscommunication! The look in her eyes revealed she KNEW that she'd overcharged us, but she didn't care about the customers and only wanted the money. She never ended up giving us our money back, so we are never returning and we hope that others won't come back to this place too.

My wife and a friend dined here on Saturday night. She choked on a piece of beef that was very sinewy and chewy. The staff offered no assistance even though they were informed of what was happening by other restaurant patrons. My wife’s friend even had to request a glass of water. They promptly left and as they were paying the bill, they challenged the staff on their lack of care and total disinterest in what could have been a tragic situation.The response they were given was laughter and the comment that the staff were very busy. Absolute shame on the people who work at this establishment on your indifference and total lack of care. We will never dine here again.

The staff do seem friendlier these days – which is a welcome change. Perhaps it's just me, but I find the meat (both beef and lamb) to be too soft and chewy, and very sweet. I wonder if it might be better if the food was cooked a bit more to traditional Chinese recipes? I also find the addition of Thai dishes to be an unpleasant attempt to try and undermine the nearby competition. Would you go into an Indian restaurant to order Italian-style food? Even though it's a bit pricey, there are some nice dishes. The fried rice, the mixed veggies, and the spring rolls were all well done and generous.

I have been this restaurant couple of years ago, it's not bad. Yesterday we went there again, overall it's not good... sea food was too salty, beef cooked too hard too eat, too much Chinese can premixed source, can't tell the difference between dishes as they all similar sources, the veggies mixed with meat all same, and it's soo raw. Service average... not many customers, but waiter kept asking us if we have finished, fortune cookie 50c each, every thing is money, cant feel any warmth, just money. Not recommended.

We ordered again from tbe golden emperor tonight as every time the food and time to deliver have been first class. However tonight 20th March we ordered at 5.50pm and we were told the latest would be 7pm because new bank rules to pay the bill. But the meal didnt arrive until after 7.30pm and the quality of all meals was well below the standards previously set. Next time we order we give another place a try as we are really disappointed in delivery, the person that delivered the meals and above the quality of food.

2 dishes received were not what was ordered after a very long wait. Called the restaurant when I noticed 1st was wrong however the guy told me not a problem sauce just looks the same although I knew was not the dish we had received previously. The beef dish was definately not satay and was inedible with the amount of pepper in it. Very disappointing as previously was okay. Probably not going back again as was an expensive lesson and was brushed off when I called.

Probably the worst Chinese I have EVER eaten. Everything was swimming in an incredibly sweet sauce and each dish had loads of barely cooked onion and green capsicum (must have been on special this week). Our fried rice was bland and the BBQ pork had around a centimetre of oil floating on top. As a child we would drive up to Brisbane from Sydney and stop at those funny little country Chinese restaurants along the way, and this place reminds of that, only worse!

Many of the reviews here seem completely bizarre. First time in suburb and had lunch special with elderly parent. The place is a typical 1970's suburburn Chinese with food, decor, service and clientele to match. Go there expecting retro time warop experience and you wont't be disapointed, expect modern cooking and presentation and you will. Perfect comfort old-school Chinese for locals especially the oldies who packed the place for lunch special.

Booked for 18 people online for the lunch special only to be informed on arrival that there was a $3 per person extra charge because we booked online. Ended up costing $54 as a booking fee. Too add to this the Service was terrible and the waiter very rude. Had been to this restaurant numerous times before but not recently, and never had a bad experience. Maybe under different management but will not be returning.

This use to be a wonderful restaurant with delicious food. Last Saturday 10/10/ 2020 I bought a takeaway being spring rolls and sautéed chicken, I ordered 3 rolls (they charged me for 6). The sautéed chicken was like chewing on rubber (I don’t even think it was chicken) and the sauce was as thin as water. Very disappointed with this meal to what they previously served, will never go back there or recommend them.

Fantastic food and service. Have had the pleasure of dining in on a few occasions and their service and presentation is superb. My pick is definitely the rainbow shredded beef and the special fried rice. One of the best Chinese restaurants in sydney and by far the best in the Shire! Wish I could give more than five stars!

My mother and her friend ate there on Saturday night, when she experienced a choking episode. Luckily she is ok, but the customer service displayed by staff we nothing short of disgusting. A junior waitress was laughing during the whole episode, and the manager’s excuse for not assisting was “we’re too busy”. Typical of these kind of people to only think of themselves. Do not eat here.

Very nice food, clean food (no msg identified), food was delivered very quickly. Ordered seafood dishes and both dishes were served close together in terms of time. Waiters even placed meals in our bowls! Pricing was on the lower side for eating out but some could consider it mid-low range. Service in general was just really good and felt welcomed. Will be coming back again!

I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. I took my family there for a birthday celebration. All the food was fresh and delicious, for both vegan and non-vegan members of my group. The vegan bean curd dishes were especially superb. The staff were so friendly, polite and helpful, putting extra effort into making sure our birthday celebration was the best it could be.

We discovered this place years ago, the owners have changed but the food is still very good. I feel like this place deserves more patrons than it currently gets. Also to the owners the serving sizes have been getting smaller recently. Please don’t skimp on the serving size.

Without a doubt the worst food I’ve ever had the displeasure of eating. Horrible and gross eating. Feel like calling the health department. We spat out more off tasting food than ate. Then was charged a ridiculous amount of money for the pain. Don’t eat there even if you’re starving! Just close down and save the planet new golden emperor!!

Always great friendly service and excellent Australianised food… i am a picky eater but this restaurant is perfect for me. Daily lunchtime specials are awesome. Save a dollar or two with a takeaway…

Rainbow beef was awesome. Rice was dry but it was late in the evening. Still you would think if the meat dishes were fresh the rice would be too. Same price in store as on Menulog, so if you usually order over the phone directly with a business for pick up to save cash, they charge he same amount. I'll order online next time.

I will never be back !! Was there for lunch today with my 84 year old father and 65 year old uncle and family . . . if I could I would give them minus 10 stars service was rude and food my dog wouldn't even eat it ! am serious we were there for Friday lunch my uncle had wait 15 mins for beer and the place was empty no wonder

I ordered Rusty Nails Shredded Beef, the thing wasn't even crispy, it was just thick strips of beef in sauce..... The spring rolls were also just pretty much pastry and the dipping sauce was watered down

I don’t do reviews much, but this food was rubbish and they should be embarrassed to serve this up. It tastes like it had been reheated many times. It is a public holiday today so not sure if they couldn’t get the right staff, but still no excuse. There was lots of other takeaway getting picked up so good luck

It was not a good meal they forgot half my meal and it was very disappointing got take away Chinese and over charged me $28 and only offered a credit I will not go back

Ordered and paid for steak dish and received a cheaper beef dish. San choy bow was oily , full of onion and tasteless. Delivery driver stood on edge of the street complaining to come to him as there was no parking. He had not even driven in the driveway. Used to be good. Definitely not so much now

Ordered chicken Szechuan all on the plate was bunch of onions no chicken meat and the mix vegetables is also bad nothing much, only the stalk no green leaves. Never want to come back for second time!

I’ve been here a few times. It started out good but the standard has definitely dropped. Ordered take out and they forgot to give us a dish plus the spring rolls. The dishes we did get were full of water instead of a decent sauce. Won’t be going back again.

Had a sit down meal here and was so surprised at how delicious and fresh all the dishes were! We ordered the honey chicken, fillet steak in Peking and Mongolian lamb. Will be coming back again and again

Used to be good but the food now just seem to consistently be gloopy bouncy and overly sweet, no real flavours the service also seems to be extremely lacking these days. Go across the road instead and grab a Thai from My Bangkok - much better food.

Take away was ready in less than 10 min as told. Nice guys. But this vegetarian fried rice was unfortunately not yummy at all :( What a pity … I was so hungry …

To be honest with you, the previous writer (Andrew Jens) was right. Even to give one star is too much for thus Restaurant. I was very dispointed about the poor food quality and can not recommand their dishes at all.

Great Chinese and Thai cuisines at the New Golden Emperor. The decor is dated, but once you taste that fine food, yummo. Been a long time customer here and I think its the best Chinese in the Shire..

This used to be good but the last time we ordered in January was awful. All dishes seemed to taste the same. Delivery was a little slow too, even though short distance , but usually really good

Probably the worst Chinese/Thai meal I've ever had. Very watery, no taste and possibly very stale meat. Also stale fruit in the dessert. (banana fritter). Definitely would not recommend.

A really love this place. The staff are very polite and the food is lovely. It has a gentle ambience with relaxing music playing quietly in the background. Highly recommended …

Just received home delivery after always dining in. Very disappointing. San Choy Bow all onion very little meat. Prawns in rice no flavour obviously frozen. Never again

Ordered the Short Soup...tastes like one cup of chicken stock with a pinch of shallot with four small rock hard wontons. Rip off for $8.80. never again.

Duck used for duck pancake smelled and tasted off. Other noodle dishes were average and delivered late. Would not recommend.

Been going here for years, pretty good Chinese. Would recommend the special fried rice and the Singapore noodles!
