Scam Warning: If you are going to apply for a Change of Registered agent application, DOS requires you to fax only and pay for expedited fee of $55. I faxed the initial application and they told me there was something wrong with it and to make changes and then I will have to refax and pay $55.00 again. I made corrections and followed their instructions on how to fill out the form. For a third time, I was instructed to refax and pay again for something that one of their employees did which was incorrectly enter the wrong Agent’s name in their system. The “The LLC” is not the name that I had provided on the form. When I called to let them know, they said sorry you have to fax and pay again to change it. Before this I even had a lady who was nonchalant and laughed when I called them out for their egregious process. The agent I signed up for told me they have the same complaints from numerous customers about the DOS application swindling. It is a waste of time and money. Go through your Agency and pay the fee which could run you approx $80 and they will do it online and you’ll avoid the unnecessary stress, interactions with robots or what feels like a catch 22 situation.
*Update from 10/23/2019: So I came here again, a year after the last time and the process became so much faster and easier comparing to the last year. Now they give you a number upon check in so you can actually sit down instead of standing in line while waiting for your turn. I came in around 12pm and it took me 5 minutes to drop off my papers. Make sure to buy a money order in advance ($10 per document) as they don’t accept any other form of payment. Very long lines, the staff is friendly though. You should come early in the morning, the wait time is much shorter then ( about half an hour to drop off the papers). The working hours as of August 2018 are 9:00am to 3:30pm.
I took my real estate exam today (March 1,2022) here. The man that sat next to me was clearly an immigrant, had a thick accent and was having kind of a hard time filling up the bubble sheet. One of the ladies working there humiliated, belittled, and yelled at him for not being able to understand certain parts. She said and I quote “I wouldn’t want you to be my realtor”. Disgusting and racist behavior. English may not be his first language but at least he was trying! She seemed like a very impatient person from the beginning too. I wasn’t able to catch her name but she was tall, black and had glasses. Probably in her 40s too.
A no good experience to be yelled by the staff just because you don't exactly know where to go and you asked direction from your co-applicants. I just felt pity for that korean woman who was yelled by the front desk staff ! That behavior is too rude for a government office like them and considering the fact that you will be paying for the service that took longer than expected. I hope this office will improve the way they deliver their services efficiently and treat everyone fairly!
Businesses are charging credit card surcharges all over Long Island and breaking the law. Consumers are being ripped off every day and the state government does nothing about it. I have made 2 complaints to the State Department and and still no enforcement. Covid does not mean you don’t have to do your job. I believe there should be a class action suit against the State Dept. for ignoring the damages to consumers. Also Rossana Rosado should resign for not doing her job.
The worst website you might deal with while running your business. Over 1 hr wait times for phone assistance, all I tried to do was renew my licenses, when we could mail in payments it would take less than 5 minutes, with this mandatory online renew it took me over an hour. If I could give negative stars I would have. This was by far such a waste of time dealing with this website that I actually wrote this review.
There are two employees at the front desk who are very helpful and patient. One is especially able to repeat the same information over and over with the same calmness as if it were the first time. Of course he must do that, but he does it well and he has a good memory for people who go regularly like me, but not daily. Who knew that it could be a pleasure going to the Office of the Secretary of State.
It’s been 3 weeks since my divorce papers were turned in to have an apostille attached, I even provided an expedited shipping envelope. When I call the number it either rings or they pick up and immediately hang up. I’m supposed to turn in my apostille this week for my marriage license for my wedding in a month. Completely frustrated I cannot get any answers.
The never answer the phone and the eacess website is a joke. If you need to be added by your broker it does not allow you to do so online all of a sudden . You have to do it by paper. Then you call the employees are clueless if they ever do answer the phone after having you on hold for 2 hours. They camt even help you and they have no answers.
The absolute worst. I've been a Master Barber since 1992. And ever since they stopped accepting paper applications they've gone to the dumps. The system is far from user friendly, and the system sucks!!! So many kinks to be worked out. And it's impossible to get them on the phone.
None of these City or state agencies care to assist, all they want is your money no services. No follow up, call back or solid information everything shroud in mystery behind another office. As you see they don't even respond to these reviews or inquiries
Worst experience i ever had. This one lady just brought me to the webpage and told me “your on your own figure it out” and hung the phone up on me!!! You can’t be serious? You need to seriously re organize your staff they are NO help at all. Disgusting.
Seriously? The state of New York can’t hire a few more clerks to an office that ALWAYS has a line as long as the Great Wall of China?? I mean, NY makes money from Apostille services, so why does this place have to resemble a slightly-less-torturous DMV?
I wanted to give them 0 stars but it won't let you. 50 minutes waiting to talk to someone. When I finally get a representative they transfer me to someone's voice mail. Don't even bother leaving a message they NEVER call you back. AWFUL SERVICE!!!!
They handle a high number of apostille per day, usually rather efficiently. The new number system is definitely an improvement. Lines might get long, and depending on that wait times can go from a very fast 15 min to 1hour or longer.
There are NO clear information about any thing, they show that the office is opend from 8:45 to 4:30 , I walked in , it was closed , there is no announcement on there website to say you have to take appointment
So much litter. If it's next to an overfull trash can that's where it stays. If it's in the street that's where it stays. Seems like No pride but I don't know the inner workings of the Nyc dos.
I had a few issues with documents I needed authenticated and the people at the front desk took the time to explain a way I could quickly resolve the issues. They were very friendly!
Poor administration, the staff takes you out of line before 2:30 p.m. doing a gram row so that in the end they do not accept the documents or do not work on them that day.
When DOS is Googled, it brings up the Department of Cemeteries. It seems they are so dead that they cannot spell correctly. 5/5 better than being alive.
Long lines. More than 1:45 minutes waiting on you feet. Only ONE person on the booth (rude). Not enough seats. This office is a disaster. Ridiculous.
No one answers the phone. Website isn't clear enough. Do I need an appointment or not for an apostille? The answer is no where on the website.
No surprise here the department of state screws up everything. All government is a mess and these guys are no exceptions! Sadly disappointing
Easy in and out for apostille drop off. Shavonda at the apostille desk is awesome. Such a pleasant transaction - she made my day.
Hi, I'd like to know if a third person can apostille a notarized document for me in this department please?
Anthony was so helpful regarding my time sensitive documents. Very knowledgeable and responsive.
Took them 3 hours certify 1 apostille document! Out of 7 service windows only 1 was opened!
If you prepare your documents ahead of time, it’s not difficult to get through here.
The city is broken with payouts to these so called officials. GREED.
took 36 mins to pick up call and hardly had answer for a renewaL.
Very nasty on the phone bad attitude no help at all
(اليكس) Great person, helpful, much appreciate him!
