DO NOT RENT HERE It's rare to be treated to such spectacularly bad customer service. here's what happened to me: * reserved truck for Sunday @ 9:30am. place is not open until 10am * was spoken to like I was an idiot for showing up at the time I was told to by the employee I reserved the truck with * was not told I had to have my own insurance to rent the truck. if I had been told that, I would have rented a truck from uhaul * was told, like I was an idiot, that every place required insurance in order to rent a truck. I confirmed with uhaul this is not true. * employee on site was rude throughout the entire conversation because I knocked on the office window twice to get his attention. it was 10 minutes after opening time, the office was still locked, and I was already 40 minutes late because I was planning on picking the truck up at 9:30 * while waiting outside for place to open, I observed a bunch of homeless people hanging around. when they opened, open access was allowed to the facility guarded only by a camera and a sign in sheet. the people waiting outside went inside. not sure if they were customers or if they knew they could stay inside where it was warm and dry. all in all, I feel like I dodged a bullet. terrible customer service couple with an insecure facility is no place I want to do business with.

My negative review is based on health concerns. I had my apartment contents in storage for a year on one of the higher floors. I had to fetch possessions a couple times over the year, and each time I came away feeling a bit ill with a slight awareness of my lungs, and the last time I even hived up on one of my arms. Now I'm unpacking my stuff post-move and I'm finding a non-trivial amount of mouse feces. I'd normally shrug that off; some of that is to be expected when storing stuff in such an old building in a former industrial area - it _was_ a seed company for Christ's sake. But, I feel I need to warn others due to my apparent slight allergic reaction (and I'm a pretty hypoallergenic) paired with the amount of cleaning and discarding of personal items I find myself doing. Other than that problems were minimal. The staff were forgettably average. Moving stuff in and out was easy. The access hours could be better. If you want to store things here I'd stress having all boxes tightly sealed and any furniture wrapped in protective coverings. Wear a filtering mask at the very least (this was a noticeable help to me) and any other protective cloth you deem necessary.

Customer service is not really the issue. People were really nice. I just consider their advertising misleading, to say the least! They rented units as "climate controlled", but obviously their standard does not meet what you would typically consider to be climate controlled. The heater is on the floor above me and as long as that is the case I guess they are legally allowed to say my unit is climate controlled...? Shady to me. Also, my unit is not secured with any type of roll door; it is more like a bathroom stall: a wooden door that swings open and shut. In fact, all the walls are wood. And the unit isn't closed in -- the top of the back wall is open to the rest of the warehouse! It is freezing and even though the man working said things don't mold, I just don't believe it. All of my things are now exposed to the elements each day during business hours. Basically, I leapt before I looked. My mistake. I am eating the $50 for the month and looking for another storage unit immediately for my stuff, one that actually IS climate controlled and has rolling doors and is COMPLETELY closed off as a unit -- basically, what you expect from a storage unit.

Love this place and have used it twice. Unfortunately this time around, because there was no attendant present when I moved out (i guess the attendant works remotely from across the street?), I am being threatened with being charged for another months rent. I moved out a week before the 1st, swept up, took off lock, emailed them a picture of the clean space as requested etc. If they try to charge me I will be contacting my bank to claim fraud as well as filing a claim with the better business bureau. I feel disappointed and angry that they are threatening to take my hard earned money b/c they have some strange remote attendant situation and expect tenants to read sticky notes they put on their office window. I’d like to resolve this and will update effectively. Update: Issue was resolved so I am changing my rating.

Let's just say, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a cheap place to store your stuff, then great. If you want access to your stuff during normal business hours... you are on your own. The employees of this story randomly leave the office and close the entire building. The elevator frequently breaks down, and for that they will also close the building. It doesn't matter if you can use the stairs, they will close it anyway. The help line sends you to voice mail, and if you are lucky enough to have someone answer, they will just say they can't help you. Yeah, I saved a couple bucks on this place, but I will never rent here again.

Have had a storage unit with Portland Storage Too for about 10 months. So far it's been fine. Storage units are in good condition, access is easy and convenient. There are plenty of carts and a huge service elevator. I personally have had fine interactions with employees. I wish access was more convenient but based on the area it seems smart that it is locked after hours. Sometimes I feel a little worried about the transient element.

Great service and facilities! I’ve been renting with NSA at this location for the past six months and have yet to have any qualms with using this storage. Most importantly, having Ke in the office available to help is a huge plus, ready to answer any questions or concerns if needed, he’s been so kind and helpful and has made anything to do with payment or transitioning units super quick and easy. Thanks again you guys!

I just moved into a unit here from one I had in Ridgefield with the same company and I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. The staff is always kind and helpful and the spaces have high ceilings so you can really fit the most in your unit no matter the square footage. They really makes the grueling process of hauling your stuff around as easy as possible.

The customer service provided to me by Keyjon at the this location of Northwest Self Storage has been just wonderful! I have felt so heard by him and he has always given such great care taking the time to do all that he possibly could to help assist me with my storage needs. Thank you so much for all that you do to help people have a great experience!

Northwest Self Storage was super friendly and accommodating, and the rates were wonderful. I highly recommend bringing your own lock since even the workers there say items they are required to sell are over priced. It's wonderful that you can just come in and move out the day of without notice.

The new property manager, Ke, was wonderfully kind, friendly, and helpful. He showed us mutinies unit options to make sure we found one we were happy with. Units are very reasonably priced for the size, ours was about 8 feet tall as well as the stated height and width. Highly recommended!

I have been a tenant at this location for over a decade, and I believe this location has been wonderful for many years. Lately, Davis has made my experience even better by his attitude, kindness, and helpfulness. I couldn't have asked for a better storage facility and staff.

Went in to get a small storage unit and was abler to just walk in and get on e very quickly. Everyone there was very attentive and helped me. Storage unit was clean and was plenty of carts to load. There is no ramp but there is a loading dock you can pull up too.

This is an adequate place for short term storage. The trade off to the slightly lower prices is that the area and facilities. Slightly sketchy and facilities are in an old building which smells musty so moisture and critters can be a concern.

Predatory business.practices took most of my belongings. Requires a locksmith if you lose your keys. They took most belongings of several people I know not just me. Then asked me to call the manager to discuss it. The manager did this to me.

Kejon the new property manager was really friendly and walked us through the options and we got a good unit. It’s an old building but it gets the job done, and they’re bigger for the price compared to other spots nearby.

The Alder street manager is more than a bit off. Storage spaces are dingy and poorly lit. The elevator is slow and manager will get crazy and not let you call the elevator. Avoid this location no matter the price.

Great storage options and prices. Zach was extremely helpful with getting set up and everything. The freight elevator is huge and they have a ton of carts which makes loading in/out so much easier.

Key is very professional and on-top of his responsibilities. He would be able to do better if he didn’t have to split his time between this and the other location a few blocks away.

It's ok, just beware of all the homeless coming in and out of here all day. Sometimes the elevator gets stuck, overall a good place in the vicinity of downtown.

The manager is super helpful and friendly, and is great at navigating and explaining the process when issues arise Affordable space in a convenient location

Fascinating 19th century building and very helpful staff. I've had dorm rooms that were smaller than my storage space.
