Osmania General Hospital (OGH) is one of the oldest hospitals in India located at Afzal Gunj, Hyderabad and is named after its founder – Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad. It is run by the Government of Telangana, and is one of the largest in the state. The Afzal Gunj Hospital, the predecessor of the Osmania General Hospital, was established in 1866 by Salar Jung I. The present hospital building was completed in 1919 on orders of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. It was designed by British architect Vincent Jerome Esch and Nawab Khan Bahadur Mirza Akbar Baig in Indo-Sarcenic style. In 1926, the wards of the Afzal Gunj hospital were transferred to the new building. The history of the hospital includes Dr. Yusuf Mirza, the 1st RMO (Resident Medical Officer). Dr. K Gopal Rao was one of the team of doctors when started along with the RMO. Names of these doctors are still there at the General Ward entrance. In 2015, the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekhar Rao announced a plan to demolish the building.This sparked outrage among heritage activists, and he immediately retracted the statement. Himayat Ali Mirza, the great-grandson of Mir Osman Ali Khan, joined hands with the INTACH (Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage). He believes minor renovations could improve the hospital building to restore the Osmania General Hospital.

I have been visiting this place since 2018. I have seen the worst and the best. Yes, the cleanliness has to be improved. I have been in Nephrology ward and OP. Dr.Manisha Sahay, Dr.P.S.Vali and team did a great job. I'm very much thankful to them. The Best Doctors - No discrimination. Facilities - All equipment is available Staff nurses - some are students, they are learning. The senior staff are excellent. Worst Security guard and Aya and ward boys who demand money. They are not permanent staff, they are third-party. Comparatively The hospital has IMPROVED in MANY FOLDS. I'm very happy about the changes the management has put forth so far. 1. Cleanliness improved 2. Out patient department organised 3. Proper security guards are placed. 4. Patients waiting area is created The management is taking good care. Worst service ever. The staff was irresponsible and careless. the doctor's also irresponsible and make the process soo difficult to send away the patients. Today, I went to join my father for a major operation of hip replacement. The doctor asked to take proper x-rays. We rushed for a full day which we don't get it. The staff was soon rude that he even saying I don't give you the xray do what ever you want. He can't even try to take xray and rejecting our need. If we say same to the doctor, he is also saying I can't do anything without xray go and complaint to the concerned person and all together wasted the whole day for an xray and finally said to come next day for that particular xray and visit doctor on Thursday. I never saw such a bloody hospital

Totally unhygienic, you can find toilet over the floor, needs immediate cleaning and the doctors are really careless who are not interested in their work at all. Even though they make X-ray and scanning reports they immediately take it back Lack of wheelchair is one of the major problem here Patients will get more sick in this kind of environment The funds are not being utilised properly Edit after 4 years: The place is still dirty, the staff is still rude. Recently requested someone in a high position if they could tell the direction for a particular room, he was rude and shouted telling he doesn't know. The toilets are not in usable condition. During night time you'll find people as well as dogs sleeping on the floor.

One of the oldest and most famous hospitals in India during the Nizam rule. They say the entire India used to come here for treatments because of advanced equipment, facilities, operation wards etc sadly now in ruins. Constructed with beautiful architecture. It used to have a beautiful garden which stretched from the Central library and that too is in ruins now. There is an old & famous tamarind tree which saved 150 people from 1908 Hyderabad Musi floods here. The present government wanted to demolish it but after strong criticism from activists and the court has ordered it to preserve it for the time being.

For general medicines please consult to areas health center that will be better and for consulting with your queries in specialized dr like diabetes endocrinologists ,neurologist, cardiology...etc and which tests can't be done in health centers you can come here but don't come from so far for bandage, b.p checkup,fever back pain and general medicines, according to me all of the general medicines for cold cough calcium fever vomiting we get in our basti dawakhana and health center so consult their.

This is the dirtiest hospital I've seen so far. The attenders were not respectful and the doctors who are writing the issue reports. The watchman who stands at doors are using abusive words and asking money in return for sending us inside. The higher authority may not know this but i would like to say please take care of every patient as they come there woth a pain already. And i think there is no use of complaint box as it may not enough for the complaints. Please look into the issues.

Osmania General Hospital seems to be oldest Government Hospital in Hyderabad. It is housed in an old monument,that had seen good days. The building is dilapidated and has an all pervading odour. The treatment in the hospital, as well as medicines are free. They have their own lab facility. Many departments of this hospital are scattered across the district. The hospital is too crowded. There are long queues everywhere. More bystanders than patients!

This is one of best hospitals in Hyderabad in some aspects and is bad in some other aspects.Well the treatment given is very good and cheap for those who cannot afford private treatment due to hefty expenses.Also the place isn't that hygienic and requires proper cleanliness measures as there's lot of spitting and littering around.The behaviour of guards Watchmen and doctors isn't great as such you cannot expect anything else from a government body.

All departments OP units work here. Plastic surgery, endocrinology, dermatology departments with concerned wards and ophthalmology unit also work here. Casualty, ICUs like ABC (Acute Burns Care unit), ANSC (acute Neurosugery care) AMC (Acute medical care), ASC (Acute surgical care) also work here. Plastic Surgery theatre and Emergency major and minor theatres also are here. OP ultra sound scan, CT scan, emergency lab, X Ray, ECG are also available.

Worst hospital with worst staff. Bas yahan se wahan ghumate rehte hai. I went there to do my knee treatment there and the doctor said they can't do operation for 4-5 months because of covid but every general and private hospital doing the surgeries without any problem. They just don't want to do any work. I said to him that I'm fully vaccinated but still he said you have to wait more than 5 months. Very bad experience.

Workers take bribes and act as if they are doctors.Instead of listening to doctors u shud listen to them.Toilets poor maintenance.Out patients are treated badly.Poor facility for admitted patients.Some times you are suppose to share beds.Power sockets are very few. Doctors and nurse are very good with the patients, the only problem is unhygiene, literally no bed is having bed sheets, we can see blood stains over the beds. Crazily still some other staff asking for money.
