I would like to ask residents living near Ashfield to be careful of this man and his dog if you have pets. 28th night, my partner was walking his dog in peace park and met this man and his young husky. He was not holding his dog on a leash. His dog tried to attack my partner's dog and my partner only heard our dog wail but could not see clearly at night whether our dog was attacked. My partner therefore tried to ask him to leave information so that he could take responsibility. But he tried to escape with the dog. So I rushed to the scene and hoped he would stop, at least until the police came. But he didn't and kept running. And I fell down while I was filming the video as evidence and his dog tried to attack me. And his wife, who was holding my other arm, said I attacked her. When the police arrived, they continued to tell false stories. Even though I had shown the police the video. I am an international student and I may not have expressed it well. I don't know why this has happened to me. The purpose of this post is to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone, so please be aware of this if you live in Ashfield.
This is a massive, hilly park. It's great for younger and older children. There are flat areas for the younger children to scoot and coast on balance bikes as well as hills for older children on pedal bikes. The playground area has a variety of features that are accessible to children of differing abilities. Pack a lunch. If you arrive during peak hours, you will likely have to park on the road because the carpark is quite small. There is an amazing lookout tower if you are happy to hike up the stairs.
This is a great park with a lot of variety and inclusions. It gets a little windy of being on top of the hill and the play area has wood chips but it's always easy to find parking and there's a nice cafe at the end of the road around the corner from it. The play equipment is good but as it's all connected if it's busy with big kids it can be a little bit daunting for smaller children to join on and at times I've had to leave and just go to another park that has a separate area for smaller children.
The view from the deck was nice. You can see Kmart, the Sydney harbour bridge, blue mountains, cranes and a water tower. The park also has play equipment, lots of native trees and a dog park. It used to be farmland back in the 1700s. I found a plaque there that said there's a Time capsule buried to be opened in 100 years. The park had a carpark if you want to drive there as well as toilets, picnic tables and a wisteria walkway. If you're in the area, I'd recommend the visit.
Public toilets and picnic tables under cover are here. There are also basketball rings and plenty of room to kick a ball.
Playground
Has a playground ( currently fenced off with construction fencing.) Once the playground is open it will be a great spot. Restrooms are close to the playground as are some picnic tables and the car park. Very convenient.
Restrooms
Public restrooms open when I visited on a Saturday.
I come here for the dog park and it's really great that its fenced, there's a bubbler for the pups and a bin inside to throw the poop away. They don't offer poop bags and the fact that its downhill means all the water run off after it rains ends up in the dog park area. If its rained even a little, expect for you and your pup to get muddy and make sure you wear some gum boots!
This is a Great place for the whole family. It’s Spacious, with its own BBQ area, a kids playground & it’s an off the leash park, so if you don’t mind dogs running around, this park is great. A real local gem. The tower is great for the kids (and adults) to climb up for panoramic views of the local area & parts of the city.
Formally known as the South Ashfield Brickworks from 1910 to 1965 it was later know as Ashbury Brickyard. The paved ceremonial area is a tribute to its brick making past. It was renamed Peace park in 1993 to mark the International year of peace. Small park it has a play area picnic tables toilets and a lookout building.
I love this park. The idea of a peace park. The size and the awesome facilities. A fab new playground, extensive lawn. The viewing rotunda. Really worth exploring with your kids. And think about the history, 1790s. It would be nice if there were mention of the first nations that exist/ed here.
Given the size of the park, I was expecting more play equipment. What is there is fine for smaller kids. The large, open space is great for running, but there isn't a lot of flat space for ball games. Didn't use the toilets, can't comment on the facilities.
Absolutely wonderful, amazing peaceful park - that sits right on the hills of Ashbury! Well maintained, amazing place to walk and bike around the park, a good sized playground, and a lookout that gives you a stunning view up in the hills of the sunsets!
Really lovely park with a covered playground area for kids of all ages (but is still pretty easy for toddlers to navigate). BBQ area and tables and chairs but could do with an upgrade. Loss a star due to reason above and no fenced area playground area.
Lovely large park with a large dog off leash area. It has a large paved area good for games, a children's play ground area, and a loop walking track. Ever car park can fill up at busy times but there is street parking as well.
Kids love this park! Large flat paved area for bikes and scooters. Large equipment in good shape. Amenities, parking, new shelters/tables and BBQs. There’s a surprising amount of green space to explore - it just keeps going!
There's a great playground under shade sails and an off leash dog park. It has a paved area for scooting and bike riding for kids and a track around the whole park. It seems to have everything a park can offer.
Amazing park! Best one I've ever been to! Everything is here, bike/Scooter area, barbecue, playground, dog park, etc. Perfect for birthday parties or just for a scenic walk, and it's also really quiet!
A Local gem. Very spacious, with great views from above the Observation deck. It has a BBQ area, a small skate & bike area. A kids playground & plenty room for figs to enjoy this off the leash park
Great place for walks, runs, dog walks and kids playing. There's a large enclosed dog park, a nice covered kids playground, lots of place for kids to ride their bikes or scooters, and a bbq area.
It's a very peaceful park with some flowers and decoration that looks like japanese garden. during cherryblossoms season you will see sakura. you will also find azalea flowers in september
A great park with lots of things for kids. Play equipment with decent shape and a few bike trails as well as a big square to practice riding on. All topped off with great views.
Great place for a quiet walk with your special someone. Has good area fir kids to play and best of all an area for our 4 legged family members ( not cat park lol) to run around.
Great views from the gazebo lookout, and lots of play equipment for kids, loses a star having the only water bubbler inside the off leash dog area on other side of park!
Nice park to get the last of the sun and a good view over suburbia from the tower. I've made a map of other sunset locations for Sydneysiders who like to chase the sun.
A well maintained park with great equipment for a variety if aged kids. The lookout tower was great - along with the friendly magpie and galah! Plenty of parking too.
Beautiful park and the Dog Off Leash area is one of the biggest I've come across. It's gorgeous there on a sunny winter afternoon and the viewing tower is cool too.
Great relaxing spot with walking/cycling tracks and flat areas for kids to ride bikes, scooters, etc. Leash free area for your 4 legged friends, great facility.
If anyone is interested in sightseeing of hurstville, rockdale campsie gladesville even some scenes from Sydney cbd and Parramatta as well ,this is the place
Quite peaceful and scenic. The playground is a little dated, but the kids seem to have fun here. Toilets are on the older side as well, could use a refresh
Beautiful and serene park with undulating terrain. The observation deck is a nice spot to watch the sunset. Will definitely come back for a stroll!
Has good flat area to learn to ride bikes and scooters. Lots of grass with hills. Two swings. Pretty good climbing frame. Car park. Toilets.
A beautiful park with lots of lovely trees and shrubs, nice walking paths, an observation tower and children's playground equipment.
I was so surprised when I firstly discovered this park. I really love the observation tower in it, quite and peaceful
Nice spacious park with bbq area and playground. There's a dogpark on the other end. Nice park for a picnic
Basketball courts are slightly small but very good despite missing a net.
Great park with a viewing tower, dog park and new kids play equipment
The restroom is not a decent one.
Great for a family picnic …
