Been trying various dog grooming parlors/ travel groomers since relocating to the southern suburbs . Happened to enter Petsworld XL , Diep river for pet food last week ,Dec 2023 when i saw they had a grooming facility . Made a reservation and Booked my two Irish setter in for wash and groom . I took along the groomers guide for a setter and showed the lady in the groom pallor, she listened intently ... which is unusual as all my prior experiences was " oh that's fine , we know the setter breed " we know what we are doing....... yet when i mention . so you are aware they have 2 coats of hair- blank looks and i get a messed up dogs coat ultimately. Was i really surprised when i returned to collect my pals at Petworld XL, they were asleep in the parlor , totally relaxed and when they stood up what a great groom !! best yet in cape town , the groomer really studied the guide obviously ( doubt she had experienced many Red setters before as still rare ) and i was so VERY Very happy with the very professional cut / groom they had done , they are highly recommended and will be my only choices going forward - Copper and Bailey say thanks so much- they also feel great and look magnificent... I'm completely disgusted by this place, the management and the staff, this is a complete disgrace, both managers are rude and disgusting. Staff has the worse service for customers, this manager with the green car has a disgusting attitude towards certain customers ands the staff on the floor is a disgrace, and also this African manager is the most racist person I have ever met. Store has no email address and noone answers the phone at all. So I'm not even going to phone the owner, the owner can comment his email address here and I'll respond via email.. Owners can't even sort out their staff or actually reply to customers. They get their friends to give them all good reviews. A assistant manager thinks he is the store manager parading around like he is the boss and the rudest staff ever, disgusting

Spectacularly bad service! Arnold (the manager) informed me that they don't honour the consumer protection act. If for example, a light bulb breaks in 3 days (even through the staff acknowledge they have had lots of faulty bulbs) - you as the customer have to pay for another... Have been going here for years with awesome service and then bureaucracy takes over:( #neveragain Response: Testing a light bulb doesn't help as the light bulbs are r200 and last just a few days. Don't sell expensive, poor quality products and then make it your customers problem by removing their consumer rights.. Final update: We went back to the store today and said hi to Arnold... He seems like a really nice guy, so not sure what we think now

Sorry to have to say this however my experience was not great here, few things we bought either never worked or broke within the same week of purchase, not everything but few of the items I found poor quality and there customer service as we tried to show the staff how there products where faulty and and we got given the shoulder, and told it is what it is. Wasn't cheep either. Another thing I didn't like was the fact that they had some very pretty animals and some exotics kept in ridiculously small cages with almost nothing inside. Come on guys sure you can do Abit better. On the bright side they do have a wide variety of things and a big enough store with a few tweaks sure they can get a 4 or even a 5 stare rating.

Took my 18 year old cat for a much needed full grooming service. As she stopped grooming herself, parts of her fur became matted and as she stopped using her scratching pad as well, her nails needed trimming and clipped (I'm usually against this but her one nail was was way too long). I was super impressed how calm she was with Desmond (considering that she hates being picked up or brushed) He handled her with care and did a thorough job taking his time. Until she had enough of his nonsense and my fiesty 18 year old personality came out Family even came to visit her and can't get over how much younger she looks 10/10 recommend Pet World Diep River for your fur baby's grooming needs ❤️

We were looking for quite a specific toy. Unfortunately, we didn't find what we were looking for, but....they have an amazing variety of items and so many choices in all the sections. We found the shop a bit pricey with a variety of items compared with some of the shops we usually visit. What I found quite nice is, for instance, the dog treats. They have a pick-a-mix, and you can choose which size and type. There is also a grooming area, and we could see how the dogs were groomed and handled. The staff is super helpful, and it was such a treat when they were cleaning the cages we were able to interact with the birds. I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

While the store is very big, and there are many options, their prices are absolutely bonkers. Most of the pet food, toys, and accessories I usually buy from other stores, cost double, if not more than double at this store. I also went there specifically because they are one of the few pet stores in Cape Town that have crickets, but sadly when I got there and looked at their cricket selection, most of the tubs on the shelf had mostly dead crickets inside, and yet they charge an arm and a leg for those dead crickets. Absolute rip-off, won't be going there again. Gave them 2 stars purely because of the cleanliness and variety in the shop.

I have not been to the store in a while and I was on this occasion assisted most professionally by a very nice staff member Nicole's (Please excuse my spelling) the difference with her and other stores were that I just left Perky Pets which was a shadow of its former self and here was this chatty friendly assistant who knew all about Super worms, natural suet and wild bird feeding. What I loved was that your stores allowed for pets to be with parents instore, and Nicolene was telling us of a clients parrots flying around in store on a recent visit. Well done. Happy place with attentive friendly staff with lots of well priced stock.

This is the worse store with customer service. The staff has no customer service, they more chatting with each other and on their phones than taking note of customers. If it wasn't for the store manager we would have walked out. She assisted us, saw noone was assisting us. I'm not sure of her name but I know it started with the letter D, so big thank you to the manager, but the staff is a disgrace, for a major brand just as this company, I honestly don't know where the owners get just useless and rude staff that can't pay attention to customers. So my 3stars review is because of the service we got from the manager.

I highly recommend visiting this beautiful store. They are well organized, clean and the staff is so friendly. They have nearly anything and everything that you need. I had a little bird that needed feed, Richard (think manager) helped me so nicely by explaining how I can feed the bird and what food to give it, when to expect it to move over to the next stage and when to expect it to start with seeds. I will definitely always come here with my different rescue animals and ask for advice and support them as much as possible. Thank you for always being friendly and accommodating, you guys are amazing!

This was my first visit to this store as I'm building up my first fish tank. Daniel was fantastic in his knowledge and advice with regard to everything I needed and also gave me options to suit my pocket. It is very rare that one encounters this kind of service anywhere. I felt like I was having a similar experience as in a Woolworths store as the store layout is clean, neat and has lots of space to move. I would highly recommend this store. Outstanding petshop,clean spacious aisles,friendly and professional staff,they stock most dog and cat food brands,pi labels are updated and visible,stock is well rotated,pricing is competing,there are dividers at till points,desks and surfaces are sanitized after every customer,wearing a mask in store is compulsory,no temperature check at the entrance,safe and secure parking on the stores premises,Pet world comes highly recommended for all the needs of your beloved pet.

A hypermarket of pet stuff for whatever pet you may have. Ample (free) parking, massive ranges, a clean store and knowledgeable staff that are always a pleasure to be met by make shopping here a totally pleasant experience. Their prices might be bordering on the upper scale generally but their products are all quality and besides, pet care should not be compromised on for the sake of a few rand. A lot of other "pet shops" could learn a thing from this model.

Super helpful staff, and always willing to go the extra mile. They also love getting feedback on the products they sell. The Store is well stocked, and if they don't have stock, they will order and advise you once received, or give you a timeline in which to pop back and get what you want. Store is kept clean, and assistance is always available on the shopfloor, or at the till. Haven't used the vet, but very convenient to have one on the premises.

It is the largest pet shop I have ever been in. There is a large variety of pet food and accessories. U could easily spend alot of time there, getting to see the variety. I found the staff to b friendly and eager to assist in giving u the best possible advice. I would go back there at a drop of a hat just to ensure that I get the right product for my pets. The shop is well stocked and extremely clean. U will b pleasantly surprised when u walk in.

Probably the most unfriendly, inefficient store in the whole country. Staff standing around in groups chatting or on their phones while customers who actually want to spend money in the store are ignored. In my visit today, I was in there for 15 to 20 minutes, looking for a specific item, not one of your incompetent staff asked to assist. This is shocking. Luckily I vote with my wallet and there are plenty of smaller, friendly shops in the area

i gave this pet shop a couple tries. always incredibly underwhelming or straight up disappointing experience. i struggle to find prices, very overpriced, limited stock, and their now their advertised halloween event didnt happen even though I confirmed a day beforehand! i got there and there were no specials or anything do yourself a favour and go to absolute pets or any other brand, save yourself the petrol and time!

Very friendly and very helpful, a staff member walked around the whole shop with me making sure I had everything I was looking for and even let my daughter babysit a little rat while we were walking around. The prices are a bit expensive but what isn't these days? They have everything you need for whatever pet you have, it's the widest range of pet products I have seen in a pet shop.

Thank you to Ed from Pet World Diep River for saving our reptile baby. If it wasn't for you and the excellent Dr Ziyaad Akoojee, my baby would be dead. Dr Ziyaad is one of the very few exotic vets available to us. He was quick to save our reptile babies life. Ed was awesome in identifying the problem and taking action. Highly recommend Pet World and Vet World Diep River.

Good range of pet related products, HOWEVER, they only give store credit on refunds even if the product has not been opened Bought a long leash and realised as I left the store that the price on shelf and item were different. Went straight back to look at the shelf price to confirm and was refunded the difference as store credit as that is their policy

After taking my complaint to Customer Service about staff not wearing masks, Taryn handled the complaint quickly, efficiently and with great results, I was at the store this afternoon and everyone was obeying the rules. Well done! This store is a one-stop-shop for everything pet related. Will be back!

The store is great in terms of variety of products. Well lit, clean but something is missing in terms of engagement that the staff has with clients. I was not left feeling like my business really mattered. It won't be my first choice go-to place for my pet products and I am happy to rather shop around.

By far the ultimate shopping experience for pets. They stock everything any pet lover could possibly want to buy. One is spoilt for choice with a huge selection to choose from. Modern store, very spacious, clean and super friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to ensure their clients are happy.

Beyond frustrating trying to contact the Diep River store! I have phoned at least 10 times this morning; the phone just rings. The one time it was answered I was put on hold for 5 minutes before the call was cut. How on earth do you expect to do business if customers can't contact you anywhere???

I've been sitting outside the store for 40 minutes. The manager hasn't arrived to open up this morning. The staff are all outside but no one can get in. Terrible management and waste of my time. Edit: I left after an hour of waiting. Manager hadn't arrived and store still hadn't been opened.

The variety of pets(lizards and chameleons!) as well as food, toys etc is phenomenal! The store is well lit, clean and all isles are clearly labeled. Staff are friendly and professional!!! It boasts with a vet and dog parlor on site! Definitely a one stop shop for all your pets needs.

Unfortunately Petworld XXL sells animals. It may be legal, but it definitely is not ethical. Pet shops selling animals contribute to the already overwhelming problem of domestic and exotic animal overpopulation in South Africa. Please find another shop to support, please please!

I can't believe I didn't know about this store until now. The service is impeccable, the store sparkling clean and they were so kind to my three year old who was with me - they gave her a balloon. They helped me with the huge bag of dog food to the car. Amazing experience.

Pricier than most pet stores on many items, though not by an unreasonable amount - they make up for it with a wide range of produce and pets alike. The dog parlour is a particularly nice touch, though I'm advised by the staff that these are not "qualified", as such.

Great service from Micaela and Cameron today when I asked them to try and find some treats a friend gave me samples of. Huge variety of every conceivable toy, food, leashes, etc for hamsters, bunnies, dogs, cats and all animals inbetween! Keep it up everyone!

Quite big. Staff is very helpful - I manage to get all my necessities for my fish, snake, and birds. A little pricier than than other pet stores. However, they've got a large range, clean store, and knowledgeable staff. Livestock is however limited.

This place is HUGE!!! It was easy to find parking right outside the door... Could have spent hours in here, great place for pet supplies, catering to everything from rodents, to reptiles, birds, fish, dogs and cats..you name it, they've got it!
